Fifty Flowers is like no other delivery service on our list: they provide a "DIY flower experience” for couples and event planners on a budget, shipping blooms right from the farm at a fraction of the cost typically paid to a local flower shop. If that's what you had in mind when you thought of "flower delivery”, Fifty Flowers is the right place. They've provided the flowers for over 22,000 weddings and a million weddings so far.

Ready-made bouquets start around $69.99

But, we suspect that you're more likely looking for ready-made bouquets and arrangements, and Fifty Flowers has you covered there as well. If you look on the section of the site called "Gift Arrangements”, there's a selection of just over 250 to choose from. We're glad that there are filters shoppers can use to narrow things down - maybe you're sending flowers for a graduation or a shower, or you know that calla lilies are your recipient's favorite bloom. You can also filter your options by season or price range, but we can tell you straight off that you'll be spending at least $69.99 for a bouquet from Fifty Flowers.

A bit spendy for roses (and no same-day option)

That includes the two selections we used for comparison across the flower delivery sites on our list: a dozen red roses and a basic sympathy arrangement. Unlike some rival flower shops, Fifty Flowers didn't start out with a less-premium option: they jump right into the long-stemmed variety, with a medium bouquet for $74.99 and a "designer” bouquet for $89.99. What's the difference? The medium-sized arrangement comes with a total of 26 stems (12 roses and 14 of baby's breath, lily grass, and leather leaf greenery), while the designer tier has 38 total stems. Either way, though, the soonest available delivery date was 9 days into the future, so if you want to impress someone with long-stemmed roses, you'll need to think ahead here.

Not much variety for sympathy arrangements

The flower options when we used the "sympathy” filter (...not the crying face kind you'll see on IG... ) were a little less-than-robust with just under two dozen bouquets, and many of those were a bit cheery for what we were imagining. The most basic-and-appropriate is probably the white calla lily bouquet, priced at $79.99. It too had a "soonest available” date of more than a week into the future (and we're not really sure that funeral flowers can often be anticipated with that much lead time...).

Delivery is included in the price

Once you find the flowers you want, click on the calendar to pick the delivery date. Fifty Flowers asks you to specify the event type and date, so that they can time the arrival of your specific type of flowers just right. On the next screen, you'll have to register or log in (which we don't love), in order to see what it'll cost to have your bouquet delivered. Ready for some good news? Shipping is typically included in the cost of your order from Fifty Flowers, though they do reserve the right to add a surcharge.

Don't expect any upgrades beyond the bouquet

You might have already concluded that this flower delivery option doesn't come with gift-y extras like chocolates or teddy bears. You'd be right. In fact, we didn't even see much in the way of adding a greeting card or any other announcement to our order. Fifty Flowers will get a farm-fresh bouquet delivered to your recipient, but don't come here expecting anything to take your gifting to a new level.

Decent reputation - for DIY flower deliveries

How does this relatively unknown company measure up when it comes to reputation? That depends on where you look. According to the Better Business Bureau, it's too soon to tell - as indicated by the "NR” (Not Rated”) designation and the single review left there. Over on Trustpilot, there were just 66 reviews averaging 3.4 out of 5 stars, and Yelp showed 3.2 out of 5 across 118 ratings. On the other hand, when you look at what people on wedding websites like The Knot and Wedding Wire have to say, the averages skyrocket to 4.3 out of 5 stars, spanning over 800 reviews. But, here's our take on all of that: the vast majority of people leaving reviews, positive or negative, had ordered flowers for delivery to decorate for an important event (like a wedding, of course). Those events come with very high expectations and usually with extremely tight deadlines, so when it goes wrong, it goes spectacularly wrong. We didn't see much feedback from people using Fifty Flowers like a more traditional delivery service - a simple "I love you” bouquet or an arrangement expressing condolences - so that leaves us feeling like that's a "Not Rated” situation too.

A bit limited but solid overall

But, you came to us looking for a rating, so we'll give you one: on the whole we'd put Fifty Flowers as above average among flower delivery companies. It's a novel concept and we like what they're doing, customer sentiment is pretty positive overall (when you factor in the high-pressure situations most people are under when they order here), and we didn't see any big red flags about buying flowers from this company. If you see something you like at Fifty Flowers, we'd say give it a go. But, if you're looking for a huge selection of traditional bouquets and arrangements, stop by the sites that are higher up on our list first.
