Florists doesn't go out of its way to tell you who they are, other than providing a "stress-free, affordable, and enjoyable” experience while gifting flowers. Fortunately, we've done the research and can tell you that this site is part of the 1 800 Flowers group of brands, which also includes several other flower delivery services on our list.
Higher-than-average pricing on roses
For the sake of comparison, we looked at what every flower delivery service on our list offered for two common orders: a bouquet of a dozen red roses and a basic sympathy arrangement. How did Florists measure up? First off, that's where we realized that this website is harder to use than most: when we did a simple search "dozen roses”, we got an assortment of over 200 choices, but with no way to sort or filter them (by color, price). Even just typing in "roses” only gave us 24 matches, but that's where we finally found "Classic Red Roses” and the option to choose 9, 12, or 15 stems. The 12-stem arrangement (with white waxflower, white trachelium, and other greenery) was priced at $59.99: quite a bit more expensive than most of Florists' rivals.
Bargain prices on sympathy arrangements
The Florists website was a little more intuitive when we went to the sympathy section, with the filters and sorting options we were missing when looking to send roses. The lowest-priced option was a "Sunny and Bright” arrangement we weren't quite sure was as "funereal” as you might expect with a sympathy bouquet, but at the $39.99 price point there were several that would be in line with honoring a veteran (American Glory) and that had more muted colors while still looking beautiful and appropriate.
No Sunday deliveries
Once you've decided which flowers you want to have delivered, you'll usually see size options. That's also when you'll enter the recipient's zip code and see the available delivery days. On most of the arrangements and bouquets we looked at, same-day delivery wasn't available; a few had it as an "upcharge” option, but there was no quick and easy way to know what Florists could get to a recipient right away if we were browsing (without going right to the "Same-Day Flower Delivery” link on the homepage). Also, we didn't spot any flowers that could be delivered on a Sunday, so keep that in mind.
Limited choices for extras
During the checkout process at Florists, you have the option of adding 1-2 mylar balloons, a stuffed animal, or sweet treats. But, especially with the latter two, you're really not getting much to choose from: they don't even tell you what the stuffed animal would be (you just choose if you want large or small), and the "sweet treats” are really just two sizes of boxed chocolates.
Some helpful gift-giving tools
On the plus side, Florists utilizes the same gift-giving conveniences of its 1 800 Flowers sister sites. You can easily add a free greeting message - and Florists can even suggest one if you're not feeling super-creative (and you don't want to use ChatGPT). If you're forgetful and this is a recurring occasion like a birthday or anniversary, there's also a box to check to get reminders for future gifting opportunities.
Delivery for just $10.99
We also appreciate that Florists doesn't make you enter your payment info before displaying the delivery fees, although you'll have to click to expand the order summary to see the exact cost. On a $39.99 arrangement we sent to Wisconsin, the delivery fee was $10.99: one of the lowest we've ever seen.
Very negative feedback from customers
However, we've had to drop Florists by another half-star in our ratings since our previous evaluation. Although the flower delivery service still has an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, we think they're "borrowing” that reputation from parent company 1 800 Flowers. Why? When we look at what people had to say just within a few days of our review, we only see deep disappointment: the story told is that Florists practically never gets your flowers where they need to be on time, if they ever arrive at all. And then, when unhappy customers reach out to Florists for help, they're told that the deliveries were made (when they weren't), or that their network florist in the area is "unavailable”, or any one of a hundred different excuses.
A flower delivery company we'd avoid
If you absolutely must use one of the 1 800 Flowers delivery services, we strongly recommend skipping Florists and going with one of the other 3 choices. It doesn't even seem like the usual benefits are offered here (like the Celebrations Passport annual plan), and customer feedback certainly indicates that Florists doesn't really guarantee any kind of satisfaction on your delivery.
Flowers have long been a universal way to show you care, whether you're celebrating a birthday, offering condolences, or just brightening someone's day. Each bouquet can carry its own meaning - roses for love, lilies for sympathy, sunflowers for cheer - making flowers a perfect gift for almost any occasion.
Flower delivery can easily bring the beauty and joy of fresh blooms directly to your door (or the doorstep of someone special) without the hassle of going to a flower shop - when you order online. When you use a flower delivery website, you get access to a variety of options, from timeless classics like those roses and lilies to unique, seasonal arrangements curated by skilled florists.
Some services even offer same-day or next-day delivery, so you can send a thoughtful gift even if you're shopping at the last minute. How do they get it done? Usually, online flower delivery services are partnered with a florist network, so that your order is fulfilled by someone local (although there are a few who ship their bouquets directly from the farm).
Want to make your gift even more special? You can often add on a vase, balloons, chocolates, or a custom greeting card with a personal message. This flexibility makes it easy to personalize your order so that it perfectly fits the sentiment you want to convey.
So, which online florist should you use for your next beautiful bouquet or artful arrangement? Choosing the right flower delivery service can depend on a few key factors:
