Flowers Fast is an FTD-network florist based in New York. They have hundreds of flower bouquets and arrangements to choose from, and they've been delivering flowers both locally and online since 1997.
Easy to navigate
This is a pretty easy online store to use. Start with any of the dropdowns at the top of the site: Occasions, Popular, Specialties, Colors, Collections, or Sympathy. Under the Search tab, you can enter a keyword or shop by price, by same-day florist delivery or FedEx/UPS, or look for bouquets by a specific flower (like orchids or snapdragons). Most arrangements can be upgraded to a larger size of Deluxe or Premium from the regular Standard bouquet.
No extra fees for same-day delivery
Prices with Flowers Fast tend to be reasonable. Unless you're shopping for remembrance and tribute arrangements (like casket sprays), you won't find anything over $300. And if you're on a budget, you'll find quite a few flowers and other gifts for $40 and under too. Delivery fees are $18.95 here but Flowers Fast won't charge an extra service fee if you choose same-day delivery. That's a nice advantage over several of the rival flower companies in our review. Just make sure you order before noon in your recipient's time zone.
Slightly strange pop-up discount
Just like the last time we shopped here, we got a strange "Welcome!" pop-up that asked if Flowers Fast could send us a discount code - but instead of the usual "enter your email and join our mailing list" requirement, we had to click "yes" and then "allow" , which our pop-up blocker didn't particularly like. It also didn't feel like a very safe way to save a little money.
Got any special requests?
On a more positive note, we love that Flowers Fast has an option for special request bouquets. You'll find that under the Specialties tab under Custom Bouquets. Choose a dollar amount and enter your requests in the comments area; the FTD-affiliated florist in your area will create an arrangement to the value you paid for. Or, on any pre-designed arrangement, feel free to put any requests in the special comments box; if there's a particular flower or color you want to highlight, they'll do their best to accommodate your wishes.
Substitutions allowed unless you change the text
One important detail: that special comments box also has a default statement that says that substitution is acceptable. If your arrangement absolutely has to have yellow roses and pink daisies, and your recipient would be horrified to receive red roses and white daisies, you will have to manually change that "yes" to "no" . A few customer reviews we read had people complaining about substitutions, not realizing that they had given their permission for Flowers Fast to do so.
Mostly happy customers
Despite being in business for 25+ years, Flowers Fast didn't have a rating from the Better Business Bureau at the time of this review. Elsewhere, this flower delivery company's reviews are a little bit mixed. While we're very happy to see that Flowers Fast tends to respond quickly and apologetically when something isn't quite right, it's still worth noting that 25% of their ratings give them a "bad" score. Complaints tend to center around two aspects of the floral business that are often out of Flowers Fast's control: deliveries canceled when no local florist can be located to fulfill the order (especially around peak times like Mother's Day), and arrangements created by a network florist that don't live up to expectations. That's pretty common with all online florists, so we don't feel that it's a huge red flag for this one.
Good enough to give it a try
Although the Flowers Fast online store is a bit outdated (just wait until you get to the checkout page to see what we mean), we feel good recommending this flower delivery company. It's rare to find an online florist that takes special requests, and while it may take some doing to get that entered correctly here - especially with that pesky substitutions box - the team at Flowers Fast seems sincere in their commitment to customer satisfaction. This is a florist we'd try if we wanted to order something one-of-a-kind.
Fresh flowers are a part of some of life's most significant moments. An engagement ring nestled in a dozen red roses. A red-white-and-blue tribute arrangement at a veteran's celebration of life. That "just because" bouquet when someone needs to know they're loved. From Valentine's Day to Mother's Day and a thousand other occasions, flowers are the perfect way to show your love, gratitude, or appreciation.
But, if you live in Memphis and you're trying to delight, surprise, or honor someone who lives in Miami, you can't just run to your local florist and pick something out. That's where flower delivery companies come in. Most florists (including your preferred mom-and-pop flower shop) participate in one or more networks, like FTD and Teleflora. These connections let you place your order and have it brought to life by a florist in your recipient's area, easy-peasy.
Because so many florists use these networks, you'll often find the same arrangements featured on their online stores. That's where attention to customer service really makes the difference: any network florist will be at the mercy of how the store on the receiving end actually pulls the arrangement together, and sometimes the quality on that side isn't what the original florist promised. When that happens, the best flower delivery companies will take responsibility for your satisfaction - either through a refund or a redelivery, often with a different local florist if available. That's more or less "business as usual" when you're buying flowers from a traditional online florist.
However, that's not the only option for flower delivery. You can also choose to send flowers from a service that works directly with growers: the bouquets are fresh-cut and carefully packaged, kept chilled in transit, and delivered right to your recipient's doorstep. These direct-to-customer flower companies are a great solution if there aren't any florists local to the person you're sending them to - because FedEx and UPS can get just about anywhere in the US. Another plus with this type of flower delivery is the price: you'll often get twice as many blooms for what you'd get for the same money spent at a more traditional flower shop.
So, where should you buy your flowers? Your options are almost as vast as the variety of blooms themselves. It might feel a little less overwhelming if you use these criteria to guide your choice:
