On the surface, Send Flowers looks like most flower delivery companies out there. You can browse a colorful selection of bouquets, balloons, and other gifts, helpfully categorized by occasion, price, and whether or not you need same-day delivery. This company also happens to be owned by From You Flowers, who we've reviewed separately on our list.
Performs well on our comparison flower deliveries
To make an apples-to-apples (or lilies to lilies?) comparison across all of the flower delivery options we evaluated, we chose two different types of arrangements: a bouquet of a dozen roses and a basic sympathy arrangement, outside of the peak seasons of Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. Here's what we found at Send Flowers:
Easy to see delivery date options
We appreciated how easy it was to see the delivery date options at Send Flowers, once we'd chosen the arrangement we wanted. On the product page, we were able to enter the zip code and see a calendar of options, including any surcharges (like $9.99 extra for Saturday delivery) and a link to alternatives on days when, for example, roses weren't available (Sundays and Mondays).
No problem adding extras
Once you've selected the delivery date, you can add extras like a teddy bear or balloon. It's also easy-breezy to pick a blank greeting card or choose a themed one, then add your message.
Zero percent chance of telling you delivery cost early on
But, we don't love that Send Flowers hasn't changed the part of the process where you have to enter your payment information before you find out the total cost. We even popped open a chat to ask, and the rep said that even with the name of the specific bouquet and the delivery zip code, he couldn't tell us the final price. "Please accept our sincere apologies, but I cannot do that.” Seriously?
Not exactly "cheap”
We're still a little mystified by the "sending cheap flowers” section of the Send Flowers site, too. We got there from the link at the bottom of the home page saying that there were flowers under $20, but we didn't see anything for less than $30. (Are there really that many people searching for cheap flower delivery, to the point of making it a somewhat misleading part of your website?) But, if saving is a priority, watch the top of the Send Flowers site for any promotional codes. When we visited recently, there was a seasonal discount of 10% off sitewide.
Big promises, but flowers still arrive late
If you order your flowers before 3PM in the zip code where they're going to be delivered, Send Flowers says that they'll get them there on the same day. Unfortunately, that's not what we've seen from customer reviews; this company has a track record of not-on-time deliveries.
So bad that it's funny
In fact, Send Flowers' reputation and reviews are so bad, they're almost comical. The company still has an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau for failing to respond to complaints there, and out of more than 500 ratings left with Trustpilot, a whopping 98% gave Send Flowers the lowest possible rating. Deliveries don't happen when promised (if they happen at all), and the customer service team really doesn't seem to care. But the comment that had us rolling: not only were the flowers initially delivered to the wrong address, but "they brought funeral flowers for [the client's] 19th wedding anniversary”. You know a flower delivery service is bad when people say they're actually "mortified” by the arrangements that their recipients get vs. the ones that were shown in the photos. So much for that 100% guarantee they advertise...
Worst of the bunch
Once again, Send Flowers winds up as the last-place flower delivery company on our list. We're just glad you found that out before clicking on that "order now” button (or at least we hope that you did). You've got many options to choose from up at the top of our list, so don't give Send Flowers a second thought.
Flowers have long been a universal way to show you care, whether you're celebrating a birthday, offering condolences, or just brightening someone's day. Each bouquet can carry its own meaning - roses for love, lilies for sympathy, sunflowers for cheer - making flowers a perfect gift for almost any occasion.
Flower delivery can easily bring the beauty and joy of fresh blooms directly to your door (or the doorstep of someone special) without the hassle of going to a flower shop - when you order online. When you use a flower delivery website, you get access to a variety of options, from timeless classics like those roses and lilies to unique, seasonal arrangements curated by skilled florists.
Some services even offer same-day or next-day delivery, so you can send a thoughtful gift even if you're shopping at the last minute. How do they get it done? Usually, online flower delivery services are partnered with a florist network, so that your order is fulfilled by someone local (although there are a few who ship their bouquets directly from the farm).
Want to make your gift even more special? You can often add on a vase, balloons, chocolates, or a custom greeting card with a personal message. This flexibility makes it easy to personalize your order so that it perfectly fits the sentiment you want to convey.
So, which online florist should you use for your next beautiful bouquet or artful arrangement? Choosing the right flower delivery service can depend on a few key factors:
