The Essentia website has a modern design and is pretty simple to shop at. However, the mattresses are broken down into different categories that can take a fair bit of scrolling to find. Essentia could also use some more details on the listings (like information on the individual mattress layers). The brand offers a range of other organic items like pillows, bedroom essentials for babies and children, organic sheets and comforters, boxsprings and mattress toppers, and even dog beds. You can put together almost a whole new home with Essentia's organic selection.

Best Foam Mattress Stores

Pricing from $1,699 to $23,047

The pricing at Essentia isn't cheap. Out of the three mattress styles ("Lifestyle" mattresses, one of the two "Performance" mattresses, or the Procor P1 Custom mattress) there are six types of foam mattresses to choose from, and none is under $1,000. To do a price comparison of this brand, we looked at the basic and top models of mattresses in the queen size. Here's what we discovered:

  • Basic Model: Grateful Eight Organic Mattress
The Grateful Eight Organic Mattress is a blend of organic latex foam without any springs or wool. The mattress has a "medium" firmness level as well as body contouring and a little bounce. This model is $2,699 for a queen size. This foam mattress is fully eco-friendly and promises a blend of memory foam and a natural mattress feel without any springs. If you're interested in the other sizes, the prices for the Grateful Eight Organic Mattress range from $1,699 for a twin to $3,499 for a king. Notably, the Grateful Eight does not have a cali king size.
  • Top model: Procor P1 Active Custom Mattress
The Procor P1 is a foam mattress specifically developed to contour to your body. The Essentia process allows you to pick from different latex organic foam variations to create a totally custom multi-layer experience that's made for your posture, muscles, and joints. The mattress comes in 11", 13", or 15" heights. The queen beds in the Procor P1 are priced from $10,925 to $17,070 depending on if you get the 11" or 15" model. Notably, in-home delivery is complimentary for the Procor P1 (you have to pay extra for in-home delivery on some of the less costly models). If you're interested in other sizes, the Procor P1 ranges from $8,790 for a twin XL (11") to $23,047 for a cali king (15").

Free shipping and 120 days to try it out

The shipping is free for any order at Essentia. If you buy the higher-end models, you can also score free in-home setup too. If you buy one of the more basic foam mattresses at Essentia, in-home delivery (with old mattress removal) costs $249. Essentia also offers a 120-night sleep trial for the mattress. If you don't like your mattress, you can contact customer service and Essentia will have your mattress picked up and returned, but there is a return fee of 9% of the listed price. As an added consideration, you will need to keep the mattress for at least 30 days (even if you hate it on day one) before you're allowed to apply for a return.

Best Foam Mattress Stores

Only one review and it's not great news

Essentia is a pretty new company, and it doesn't currently have a rating with the Better Business Bureau. Regrettably, there isn't much buzz elsewhere either. Currently, Essentia shows only one review on trusted review sites like Sitejabber or Trustpilot. This single review is just 2 stars and is a complaint where the customer was shipped the wrong size mattress. The customer also felt that the Essentia memory foam was too hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. When the customer reached out to Essentia, the company noted that "all sales were final" despite the listed return policy. While this is only one experience, we don't know much else about Essentia, since there isn't other feedback to judge by.

Essentia has room to grow

Considering the feedback from the one reviewer and the fact that Essentia is extremely costly (with no solid reputation to back it up), we're a little concerned about recommending this brand for your next foam mattress. If you're definitely going for eco-friendly, this may be worth a look, but otherwise, you may want to wait until Essentia builds up a more trustworthy reputation. We hope to see improvement in the future.

Where is the Best Place to Buy Foam Mattresses?

A good night's sleep is essential to your health and well-being, and a great mattress is one of the best ways to ensure you get your forty winks. And what better way to get the best-quality rest of your life than to grab a foam mattress?

So what is a foam mattress? There are two primary types of foam used in beds: polyurethane foam and memory foam. Both contain the same basic ingredients, but polyurethane usually has a "springier" surface and it's generally less costly. Memory foam, on the other hand, was developed by NASA in the 1960s, but it didn't take off as a bedding material until the 1990s.

There are tons of benefits to choosing a foam mattress over a traditional style. Foam can help relieve pressure points and provide more support across your body. Basically, if you want to feel like you sink into your mattress (like a soft cocoon for a good night's sleep), you'll want to check out memory foam ASAP.

Experts say foam mattresses are good for pressure points, but what does that mean for your overall health? Memory foam helps with back pain, relief from joint pain, and deeper sleep, according to some studies. Plus, foam mattresses offer motion isolation, which helps prevent any bouncing or wiggling if you sleep with a partner. You'll also get benefits like temperature regulation, and some relief for those who suffer from sleep apnea.

In days past, shopping for a mattress was a whole event. You'd have to find a local mattress shop and try out all the beds before you pick from the available options. Now, you can shop for your next mattress totally online. This opens up hundreds of styles from different sizes, shapes, thicknesses, and more. Plus, most retailers will ship your new mattress directly to your home. Foam mattresses will typically ship in a vacuum-sealed container and may take a few hours to fully expand once you receive them. It feels very sci-fi.

If you're ready to stop counting sheep and get the best sleep of your life, we're right there with you, and we've put together a list of factors to help you narrow your options. Here are some things to keep in mind:

To help you stop having nightmares about your bed, Top Consumer Reviews has researched and ranked the top foam mattress brands out there today. This way, you can sink into your new mattress at the end of a long day and enjoy the support and relaxation of memory foam. Just imagine: you'll be looking forward to naps more than ever with your comfortable new foam mattress. Sweet dreams!

Foam Mattress FAQ

What is a foam mattress?
When you hear "foam mattress", you might immediately think of egg carton-like pads used for sleepovers or campouts. Those are nothing like the foam mattresses that have taken the bedding industry by storm: well-constructed, delivered right to your home, and possibly giving you the best night's sleep you've ever had.
Why wouldn't I want a traditional coil/spring mattress?
Traditional mattresses often create pressure points, leaving you sore and restless. Foam mattresses are designed to contour to your body, offering support and comfort all night long.
I need a firm/medium/soft mattress. Do they make foam mattresses with that level of firmness?
Yes - and sometimes you can even find options with different levels of firmness on each side! Not every manufacturer offers you a choice, but you can read through customer reviews to see how each brand "sleeps". The experience varies based on the sleeper's weight, sleeping position, and other factors, so finding comments from people similar to you can be a good guide for your purchase.
How much do they cost?
You'll spend anywhere from $390 to $6100 for a foam mattress. As you'd expect, twin sizes are less expensive than king-size mattresses, and many manufacturers have designs ranging from basic to luxury.
Is shipping included?
Yes. Most of the time, your foam mattress will be delivered at no extra charge. Considering how much effort it would take to go to a local mattress store and drive it home yourself (or worse, pay for delivery), this is a huge perk when buying a foam mattress online. There might be a learning curve to get your mattress set up initially - you may have even seen a few humorous unboxing videos, showing how these mattresses expand when you take them out of the box - but most customers say it's pretty straightforward.
How fast can I get my new mattress delivered?
Usually within 1-2 weeks. You might have to wait a little longer during popular buying times (with June through September being the busiest times, since the mattress industry usually debuts new products then).
What if I try the mattress and I don't like it? Can I return it?
This is probably one of the biggest perks to buying a foam mattress: most manufacturers give you a lengthy trial period ranging from several weeks to a year, so that you can put it to use and see how well you sleep. That's important because foam mattresses can take some getting used to (and you might actually feel a little sore for the first few days to a week!). Better yet, some of the best foam mattress companies will let you return your mattress (or donate it locally) absolutely free of charge if you decide during the trial period that you don't like it.
Is it really safe to order foam mattresses online?
Absolutely! It's easy to find thousands of reviews from customers and a Better Business Bureau listing for most foam mattress companies today, so you can feel perfectly confident ordering your new bed from any one of them. Sweet dreams!
