Keetsa got its start in 2007 after its founders noticed how stressful most people found mattress shopping to be. Why not make it easy to get the right one, with no sales pressure or dozens of models to choose from? You can test out Keetsa mattresses in a tranquil, customer-centric setting if you visit one of their stores in CA or NY, or simply use their website's Match Wizard to determine your perfect fit online.
4 foam and hybrid mattresses
Keetsa offers just four foam and hybrid mattresses to choose from (plus two iCoil varieties you'll also see on their website):
Watch out for the return fee
You get a 12-year warranty and a 90-night sleep trial with any Keetsa foam mattress. However, don't overlook the detail of the return fee: you'll have 10% deducted from your refund as a processing fee. That's not as generous as most of Keetsa's rivals in the industry, who make it risk-free to try their mattresses by not charging any kind of restocking or return fee.
Free shipping in lower 48 states
When we browsed the Keetsa site recently, there was a pop-up discount code (STAYCOMFY) that earned us a 15% discount on all mattresses: a savings of up to $463. You'll get free shipping as long as you live within the continental United States, though we noticed that the Tea Leaf Dream's product info said that the King and Cal King sizes would be delivered at no charge via freight service and not FedEx Ground (and take 10-15 business days to arrive instead of the usual 5-10).
Mostly positive feedback from customers
The Better Business Bureau gives Keetsa a disappointing "D-” rating, but that stems from the company's failure to respond to two complaints filed more than a year ago: hardly a pattern of poor customer service. Looking beyond the BBB's listing, customer comments on Keetsa mattresses are usually very positive. We like that the company displays unfiltered reviews on their site: you can trust that the five-star ratings are legitimate because they also let you see the handful of one-star reviews they've received. There are plenty of people who have bought Keetsa mattresses on more than one occasion, loving the sleep they got so much that they've outfitted their guest bedroom or kids' rooms with them too.
Just average as a foam mattress brand
Still, there's nothing so "wow” about Keetsa to earn this retailer a top rating from us. We're not big fans of their 10% return fee, and we didn't see anything particularly novel or noteworthy in the construction of their foam mattresses. Keetsa is good, but it would take some changes to make them stand out in our rankings.
You may have found your curiosity piqued by a mattress-in-a-box unboxing video, watching a seemingly too-small carton produce a king-size mattress in just a matter of seconds. Yes, you really can get an amazing night's sleep from one of these mattresses that gets shipped to your doorstep - no need to drive around town and strap your new bed to the roof of your car after all!
In fact, many customers have a strong preference for foam mattresses over the traditional spring or coil versions paired with a box spring. Technology has come a long way over the last decade or so, and if you're tired of waking up with an aching back, sore shoulder, or irritable partner (because your tossing-and-turning shook the bed all night), you'll definitely want to consider what a foam mattress can do for you.
What do you need to know about this type of mattress? First, there's a distinction between all-foam and hybrid construction. All-foam is just like it sounds: every layer consists of some kind of foam that either contours to your body or supports the mattress as a whole. These layers can vary quite widely from one brand to another, and even within the same manufacturer - offering different mattress heights, levels of support, and firmness at the edge of the bed itself. Hybrid mattresses are a combination of foam and coils or springs. These are usually designed to give you more support and cooling, and give you a sleep experience that more closely approximates what you're used to while offering the softer, more supportive feel of foam.
One innovation we've seen recently is flippable foam mattresses. If you're not sure whether you prefer yours to be on the firm or soft side, no worries: several brands give you a two-in-one experience. But, even if you don't purchase a two-sided foam mattress, you're not stuck with whatever you buy.
Why? Every brand in our review gives you at least 30 nights to try it out and see how it feels - because it can take at least that long for your body to adjust to a new mattress. Most foam mattresses give you even longer than that, from 100 days to a full year, and you can return it if you wind up thinking something else would be a better fit. Just watch for the details on that trial period: some companies charge a return fee, while others give you a full refund.
It's incredible how many foam mattress companies have hit the market over the last few years. Which one should you pick? You might feel overwhelmed even trying to start shopping around. We've evaluated some of today's most popular brands, and while you browse, here are some factors to keep in mind:
