With so many people trying to "eat clean” these days, fruit baskets are a fantastic option when you're struggling to decide what to give someone as a gift. Chocolate? They might be allergic. Nuts? Even more so. Gift cards? Boring. But fresh fruit? Everyone loves a juicy peach, ripe pear, tangy orange or crunchy-crispy apple!
What can you expect when shopping for the right fruit basket for your lucky recipient? Some retailers focus just on fresh produce, and you'll see boxes laden with the winter's best grapefruit from Texas and Florida, carefully-wrapped apples from the Northeast, or a variety mix of several different kinds of fruit. Yummy! Other fruit baskets offer an assortment of pieces of fruit and treats like cheese and crackers, chocolate-dipped pretzels, and much more. The sky's the limit when it comes to the options you'll see when you start browsing fruit baskets.

Manhattan Fruitier has emerged as our newest first-place winner in the very competitive world of fruit baskets. Not only are their arrangements delicious and fresh, but the presentation is beyond comparison. Some of Manhattan Fruitier's rivals even feature these baskets in their own inventory. The customer service here is excellent, the company goes to great lengths to be sustainable, and everything about the gifting experience here is a pleasure. Manhattan Fruitier deserves to be the first store you consider when ordering fruit baskets.
A Gift Inside fills their selection of 25 fruit baskets with tasty treats from their three companies: Golden State Fruit, CY Chocolates, and Farmstead Gourmet. You'll have plenty to choose from, all keeping within a budget of $100 or less, and you can be assured that your delivery will arrive fresh and on time. This company is a long-time favorite of ours and you won't want to miss what they have to offer when ordering fruit baskets.
Gift Tree has reached new heights in our rankings, and deservedly so. Thousands of shoppers give the company five stars for offering great variety, on-time delivery, and multiple sizes of fruit basket arrangements. You won't know exactly what's going to be included, because each one is hand-crafted and based on what's fresh and available to the florist, but your recipient is sure to love their unique gift.
Gourmet Gift Baskets is small but mighty among fruit basket sellers. Their arrangements don't have mountains of fruit, but each one is a delectable pairing of several pieces with other deluxe foods. From charcuterie boards to margarita-and-guac kits, there are some tasty options here. Best of all, there are thousands of people who give this company a perfect five-star rating, with many customers who've sent these fruit and other gift baskets many times over the years. Gourmet Gift Baskets has earned itself a higher ranking than in the past and is worth a look.
Harry & David is a beloved retailer of gourmet gift food: you may be a big fan of their Moose Munch popcorn, but did you know they started out as a grower of pears? There are nearly three dozen fruit baskets and arrangements in their online store, and thousands of customers rely on Harry & David every year at the holidays. Some of their rivals outshine them in terms of variety and shopper satisfaction, but this is still a great choice for fruit baskets.
Wine Country Gift Baskets is on the rise. Over the years, they've expanded their selection of gift baskets to include plenty of fruit options - fresh and dried, fruit only or a mix of produce and treats too. They've also continued improving their customer service, and we've seen their reputation move from "just okay” to "better-than-average”. And what's not to love about free shipping on most orders? Wine Country Gift Baskets should be a store you visit if you need a fruit basket that is both good-quality and budget-friendly.
For the freshest cherries, pears and other fruits direct from the Hood River Valley in Oregon, customers turn to The Fruit Company. You'll find just shy of a dozen fruit baskets here, some that are just fruit and others that come with crackers, cheese, sweet treats and more. This isn't a store that's going to amaze you with its selection or gift-giving options, but it's not a bad choice if one of our higher-ranked fruit basket retailers doesn't quite have what you had in mind.
FTD isn't just for flowers. You can order any one of 14 different fruit baskets for delivery anywhere in the US. There's nothing overly extravagant here, just decent arrangements that often include chocolates or other treats along with fresh or dried fruit. Some shoppers have had issues with the quality of their deliveries, but FTD has a good track record of making things right when problems occur. This store doesn't have the most robust selection of fruit baskets you'll see, but it's not a bad option to keep in reserve.
Edible Arrangements' "fruit baskets” more closely resemble a floral bouquet made up of cut produce on skewers. With over 1,200 locations in the US, they may even have several stores near you, which gives you options for same-day gift-giving if you need it. We wanted to be excited by this store, but Edible's customer feedback was too lackluster to earn a higher rating from us.
Pittman & Davis specializes in sending fruit as a gift, not necessarily in a basket but typically individually-wrapped pieces of fruit in a nice box. The company's history spans almost 100 years and some loyal customers swear by their citrus, saying it's not the holidays without grapefruit from P&D. But, despite offering a 100% satisfaction guarantee, the company still gets too many complaints for us to give them a higher rating - and outside of the winter holiday season, there aren't many fruit baskets to choose from here.
For fresh, cut fruit styled like a floral arrangement or other novelty shape, the 1-800-Flowers brand family offers Fruit Bouquets. You can order gifts for same-day delivery nationwide, no matter the season, and it will be put together by a florist in your recipient's geographic area. But, so many customers have complained about these gifts (even with photographic evidence) that we can't recommend Fruit Bouquets under most circumstances.
Shari's Berries is one of several providers of fruit baskets in the 1-800-Flowers group of brands. Although you may know this company for its chocolate-covered strawberries, you can also find about five dozen fruit baskets and arrangements here. Unfortunately, the site isn't as easy to use as most of its rivals, and with tens of thousands of one-star customer reviews, we can't recommend Shari's Berries for your gift-giving needs.
Fruit baskets are also a great way to show you care. Not only are they healthy, they're tasty and can be a special way to charm anyone on your gift giving list. However, when you're trying to decide which fruit basket to give, the choices can seem a little daunting.
