Acquired by Barnes and Noble in 2022, Paper Source was able to expand their offerings to cover not just gift boxes but also wrapping paper and curated accessories. Set at a high price point, they offer beautifully-designed, sophisticated gift boxes and accessories, for an elegant gifting experience. However, the acquisition by a large corporation has led to some recent challenges: customers have reported recent shipping issues, missing or delayed orders and quality issues with customized labels. We would love to give this company a perfect rating, and hopefully, given time, they will adjust to the acquisition and improve their shipping practices.

American Greetings' gift boxes are sturdy and of good quality. They excel in crafting clothing gift boxes, consistently receiving positive reviews for that specific line. They also have beautiful push-down boxes for gifts like plushies. We really wish American Greetings offered more options - more colorful options for different occasions and more options for finishing touches like bows and ribbons would also be nice. For over one hundred years, Hallmark has been delivering quality greeting cards and connecting people through gift-giving. Hallmark's experience shows in their elegant, sturdy, yet still affordable gift boxes. Hallmark gift boxes often include accessories like shredded fill paper or ribbons, and they even carry a line of gift boxes with included wrap bands. There are plain boxes, beautifully finished colorful gift boxes, and gift boxes with themed printed designs available. But, the selection here is much smaller than competitors', earning Hallmark a "good enough" rating.

Lifelum set out to create a high-quality gift box option, and they have succeeded. Thousands of people agree that the magnetic closure and vibrant, true colors combine to create an elegant gifting experience, and their boxes are sturdy enough for long-term storage. Customers wish the gift card was a little nicer, as it doesn't match the luxuriousness of the gift box. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of options with this gift box company, with many boxes out of stock at the time of our review. For those reasons, and because of the very high price point, we give Lifelum gift boxes a slightly less than average rating and hope that in the future they will have a larger inventory and more choices for consumers.

The company sells all products in bulk. Bags and Bows offers a wide range of customization options, including the ability to add logos or designs to the boxes. While most retail customers won't need, say, 500 gable boxes in one go, this might be a beneficial option for the average consumer who is planning a wedding, family reunion, or other large-scale event. Unfortunately, beginning in 2021, customers noticed that many of their favorite options were continually out of stock. S. W Packaging acquired the company in 2022, but the out-of-stock items have yet to return, with an increasing number of items displaying low or no inventory as time passes. For these reasons, Bags and Bows didn't make our top picks.

Walmart has... everything. Where else can you get boxers, a wrench, a McDonald's burger, and gift boxes for under $25? The founders of Walmart aimed to save the average consumer as much money as possible and that drives the company today. With their buying power and aggressive tactics, Walmart's major mission is to purchase products at the absolute lowest price possible. What this means for people looking for gift box options is that not only will Walmart probably have the lowest-priced gift box, but it will also have the lowest-priced accessories for gifting as well as the gift itself being cheaper than anywhere else. That being said, you will most likely not get a quality product, your personal payment information may be hacked, and you may not have a great experience with customer service if you have the need to talk with them. With many gift box items out of stock, weak online security, and low-quality woes, we can't recommend Walmart as an option for gift boxes unless price is your only consideration.
