Billing itself as "more than just meal delivery”, Trifecta stands out as a meal delivery service that focuses on athletics, fitness, and weight loss. Although it has some positive aspects, overall disappointing customer reviews have dropped this service in our ratings.
Dig for the gluten-free details
While the company does offer gluten-free meals, locating the details requires a little digging. According to the drop-down menu on Trifecta's main page, they only offer 4 meal styles. A little extra research will show that all of the meals at Trifecta are gluten-free. As a bonus, there is a lot of flexibility with the Trifecta meal plans. You can get support for allergies and sensitivities outside of gluten, and if you want to be totally hands-off, you can let the Trifecta chefs choose your meals for the week. Though, if you prefer to know exactly what you're getting, you can choose it yourself too. Plus if you just want to shop more a la carte style, you can grab their meal prep entrees instead.
Service Overview
Low-cost plan: Plant Based
Since all of the plans at Trifecta are gluten-free, we decided to showcase the least and most expensive plans you can choose from at this provider. The cheapest option at Trifecta is the Plant Based plan. This includes different selections for entrees and breakfasts with 100% plant-based food. The cheapest plan is the 7-meal plan. This starts at $104.93 per week and includes 7 entrees (no breakfast). The plans go up to 14 meals and 7 breakfasts which costs $289.59 per week for a full 3 meals per day.
Plant-based meal choices
Some of the meals you can expect to find on the Plant Based plan include:
High end plan: Clean Meal
For the high-end plan, we had to choose between the other three meal styles as they were all the same price. To keep it simple, we checked out the pricing on the Clean Meal. This meal style is meant to help you start eating "clean” without sacrificing all of your favorite carbohydrates. The lowest cost plan is a 7-meal plan which costs $110.99. This will give you 1 meal per day and no breakfasts. The highest-cost option is the 14-meal and 7-breakfast plan which costs $310.99 per week. This definitely isn't the least expensive service out there, but offering a full three meals a day makes Trifecta very competitive.
Clean Meal options
Here are some of the meals you can expect to find in the Clean Meal plan:
Money-back guarantee on first 7 meals
The Trifecta Money-Back guarantee is another bonus of this company. The guarantee states that if you're not totally satisfied with your first order, you can get a full refund. This guarantee covers up to 7 meals or $119 worth of meal prep food. All you need to do is reach out to the Trifecta customer success team within 10 days of your delivery, and they'll sort everything out for you.
Quality is declining over time
As excited as we were about some of the great features at Trifecta, the reviews brought that excitement to a screeching halt. Let's start with the good news. According to Google Reviews, Trifecta is a highly popular service with a solid 4.6 stars out of 5 from 1,000+ individual reviews. However, that's the only good score Trifecta has. Unfortunately, the company holds an abysmal "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and an equally startling 1.6-star average from Trustpilot. Customers complained about packages being opened before delivery, and in recent months, the quality of the food has declined.
Low ratings take it out of the competition
Given that Trifecta is one of the more expensive services in our review, the poor reviews and scores from both the BBB and verified review sites put a significant ding in Trifecta's reputation. While we're still impressed with a 100% gluten-free menu, and the 3-meal-a-day option makes it a solid choice for customers looking to fill every meal every week, we just can't ignore the "F” rating. So, for this review, Trifecta falls to a lower rating overall. However, we hope they'll work on their customer service so that the BBB scores and other user ratings match up with some of the more positive feedback from Google Reviews in the future.
With a ton of different diets for a variety of purposes out there, gluten-free eating is becoming more and more popular. Whether you're looking to cut out processed wheats, or if you're looking to support your health by avoiding foods you're sensitive to, a Gluten Free Meal Delivery program could be the ideal solution.
Joining a Gluten Free Meal Delivery service to support your health can help you avoid the extra stress and work of shopping and meal prep on a gluten-free diet. Instead of worrying about getting every item on your gluten-free shopping list at your local grocery store, you can trust that your meal delivery service will do the research and support your chosen lifestyle.
The history of gluten-free diets can be traced back to the identification of celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder triggered by the ingestion of gluten. Gluten, which is a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye, appears in a lot of commonly-eaten foods even on other health-conscious diets. So, in the early 20th century, Dutch pediatrician Willem Dicke recognized the connection between wheat consumption and celiac symptoms.
The gluten-free diet gained prominence as the primary treatment for celiac disease in the mid-20th century. However, it wasn't until the late 20th and early 21st centuries that gluten-free diets gained widespread popularity beyond medical necessity. Fueled by a growing interest in health and wellness, as well as a surge in gluten sensitivity awareness, the gluten-free trend became a cultural phenomenon. This led to a variety of gluten-free products and a broader adoption of gluten-free diets in grocery stores, restaurants, and home cooking.
When you think of the word "diet”, what comes to mind? Tracking ingredients, preparing separate meals, doing extra work, and researching to make sure that foods are safe for your gluten-free diet are some of the things that become common roadblocks to staying on your chosen diet. Thankfully, meal delivery services help simplify those problems.
So, what is it you're really getting with a Gluten Free Meal Delivery service? Companies that offer Gluten Free Meal Delivery offer prepared meals or packages of ingredients designed to provide tasty meals that support your gluten-free dietary needs. Some programs include a full 7 days of meals (at three meals a day), eliminating the need to shop completely. Instead of scrutinizing food labels for gluten, you can assemble your meals (or just pop already-prepared meals into the oven) from one of these delivery services and savor the convenience.
