TGW, formerly known as The Golf Warehouse, has been in operation since 1998 and has established itself as a reputable online retailer of golf products. Based in Wichita, Kansas, TGW offers an impressive selection as a one-stop shop for golf enthusiasts.
Impressive filters and per-item reviews
Navigating the website is a straightforward process. The main page features categories that can be browsed or searched by typing in a specific product name or keyword. You can filter search results by type, brand, gender, hand, and other characteristics. We were pleased to see that TGW carries a significant selection of women's golf clubs and left-handed clubs, which are often underrepresented in the inventory of rival retailers. Reading through these reviews provides valuable insights into the performance and quality of each club.
Pick from 1,222 clubs
TGW offers a competitive 1,222 different golf clubs in its inventory. This includes men's, women's, and children's clubs. We found 148 drivers, 180 irons and iron sets, and 123 woods in stock at the time of our review. On top of that, TGW has an impressive inventory that includes name-brand items for all golf enthusiasts. We saw PING, TaylorMade, Titleist, Cobra, Callaway and more. No matter if you need a single club, a new set, or a complete golf gear refresh (clothes, gear, and beyond), you can find what you need at TGW.
Prices from $39.95 for a wedge
We did our price comparison at TGW and found that the prices start a bit higher here than at other places. We checked out prices for drivers, irons, wedges, putters, and golf sets. These included sale prices and only clubs/sets for men and women (not children). Here's what we found:
Unique trade-in program
TGW also offers a trade-in service for customers looking to upgrade their golf clubs. The process is simple: select the club type, brand, model, and options such as dexterity and flex to determine its value. Customers can then add the trade-in to their order and receive a credit towards their new purchase.
30-day playability guarantee
The return policy at TGW is more generous than some golf club retailers. You have 60 days from the order's shipping date to return any unused products in new condition. However, some clubs are designated as having TGW's 30-Day Playability Guarantee. Under this guarantee, you can use the club for a month and return it if you're not satisfied. While this policy offers flexibility, you will still only receive up to 90% store credit for returns under this guarantee.
Free shipping on $99+ and price-matching
If you're looking to save on your golf shopping, TGW offers several ways to cut costs. For starters, you can take advantage of free shipping on all orders over $99. On top of that, TGW has a price-matching policy. If you find a product sold by TGW for a lower price at another golf retailer, you can contact customer service and they will match that price. This policy only applies to identical products that are in stock on both sites. So, before contacting customer service, be sure to double-check the details so you qualify for the price match.
Reputation rising to the top
Customer feedback for TGW has improved since the last time we reviewed it. TGW has managed to raise its rating to an "A+" from the Better Business Bureau due to its efforts to resolve customer complaints. On top of that, its average ratings on Trustpilot have come up to 3 stars. On other third-party review sites, TGW has almost 5,000 total reviews with a 4.9-star average, making it a standout in the industry. Customers love the product selection, the quick shipping, competitive prices, and the one-stop-shop approach, so they can get all of their golf gear in one place.
Our hole-in-one
TGW has a little bit of everything. It's got a huge inventory, impressive reviews, competitive pricing with free shipping for most golf club orders, and plenty of clubs for women and kids too. If you're looking for the ultimate one-stop shop, TGW takes the prize. TGW is a rising star for golf gear, and especially golf clubs. For this reason, it easily earns the top spot in our review.
Golf Avenue is a platform that allows golfers to buy and sell pre-owned golf equipment at affordable prices. The company's mission is to make it easy for golfers to find new homes for their used clubs and find great deals on high-quality equipment. Golf Avenue believes that every golfer deserves to experience the thrill of hitting a perfect shot or replacing a big divot, and they strive to make that possible by providing an inclusive environment where golfers can connect with each other. You can also find some new items on Golf Avenue, but the primary focus is on used inventory.
Designed to help you browse multiple prices on the same item
The site is separated into two sections, shop and sell/trade. The modern design and high-quality photos make it easy to begin browsing and find what you need. Once you find the clubs (or club sets) you want, you can start filtering with the options on the left side of the screen. You'll find filters like brand, product type, flex, condition, clearance, loft, and shaft material. The only downside is that some pages on Golf Avenue take time to load, so you may need to be a little patient as you browse. When you select a specific club, you'll be taken to a page that lists all of the clubs under that name/style available on Golf Avenue from different sellers. For example, we saw 8 different TaylorMade wedges in black ranging from regular to extra stiff flex, and from good to very good condition.
Selection of 1,819 different models
The selection at Golf Avenue would take hours to browse in total. At the time of our evaluation, there were 1,819 different models of golf clubs offered at Golf Avenue, and within each of those models, there were multiple versions for sale at different prices, making at least 3,638 individual items available for purchase. Golf Avenue offers a competitive selection for both men and women and even a wide clearance section for even better prices. Across different styles of golf clubs, we discovered 292 models of drivers, 122 irons, and 346 woods. Plus, you can find tons of other used golf gear like clothing, bags, balls, and even golf carts.
Prices from $19.99 per driver
During our price comparison at Golf Avenue, we checked out the pricing for four different club categories and also looked at the pricing for adult sets. We included both regular and sale prices as well as men's and women's clubs. The pricing we found at Golf Avenue was highly competitive due to the used inventory. Here's what you can expect:
Refunds within 30 days and a 6-month warranty
When you purchase from Golf Avenue, your satisfaction is a top priority. The return and refund policy varies depending on the type of product you've purchased. For "pre-loved” golf clubs, you can return them within 30 days and receive a 100% refund or store credit, minus shipping costs. If you've bought a brand new club, you have 30 days to return it for a 100% refund or store credit, but note that a 20% restocking fee applies if the packaging has been opened. Golf Avenue also offers a 6-month warranty on all golf clubs, covering defects in materials and workmanship. If your product is faulty during this period and meets certain conditions, the company will repair, replace, or refund it.
Highly rated by happy customers
While Golf Avenue doesn't have the best rating from the Better Business Bureau, it is extremely popular with shoppers and reviewers. Let's start with the BBB first. The "C” rating isn't great news, but it may not be totally accurate. According to the listing, this rating is due to 1 closed complaint in the last 3 years and only 1 review on the BBB platform. This doesn't really seem to reflect the wider feedback from shoppers shown at other review sites. There are over 80,000 reviews on Trustindex showing a perfect 5-star average. Verified reviews show extremely happy customers talking about the high quality of the golf clubs and gear they purchased from Golf Avenue. There's also praise for quick shipment, easy interactions with private sellers, and support from Golf Avenue.
Best place to buy used
Golf Avenue offers a pretty unique way to shop for and "recycle” used golf gear. Since you can trust that the gear is in great condition, even if it's second-hand, this retailer is a great place to find both older and modern golf clubs at lower-than-average prices. You can feel good about reduce-reuse-recycle while you play your next 18 holes, plus, if you want to trade in an old club, you can sell it on Golf Avenue to another golf fan just like yourself. With top-notch ratings from customers, Golf Avenue is a highly trusted platform for connecting golf buyers and sellers, earning an excellent rating in our review.
Pinemeadow Golf takes a unique approach to selling golf clubs, offering a range of high-quality clubs at affordable prices. Unlike many other retailers, they don't focus on well-known brands, instead opting for "clone" clubs that use the same materials and technology as the big names, but at a fraction of the cost. This approach allows Pinemeadow Golf to offer top-notch performance without breaking the bank. (However, if you're all about brand names, these dupes may not be your style.)
Helpful tool to match your best club
Pinemeadow Golf doesn't have the most modern-looking website, but one of the most useful features of their website is the ability to filter clubs by left-handed or right-handed options, making it easier to find the right fit. The site also offers assistance if you're not sure what type of club you need. Pinemeadow Golf offers a custom fitting tool that can help you determine the right fit for your game. The tool asks for information about your height, gender, swing speed, and other factors to provide recommendations for flex, length, and grip. You can access this tool on product pages or through links around the website.
Extremely small selection
The inventory at Pinemeadow Golf is smaller than what you might find at other golf club stores, with 50 clubs available and 6 golf sets. Sadly, there is only one club labeled for women, so this store's inventory is primarily focused on men's golf clubs. Overall, the diversity is unimpressive, and if you're hoping to find something specific, you might be disappointed. Most of the golf clubs are unlabeled with only a few having familiar names like PGX due to Pinemeadow Golf's focus on crafting dupes.
Prices from $29.95 per putter
Prices are extremely low at Pinemeadow Golf, so if you're a new golfer or you don't care about name brands, this could be a great place to find a deal. We compared Pinemeadow with other competitors by looking at the driver, iron, wedge, putter, and set prices. With its low inventory, we weren't surprised to see that Pinemeadow only offers irons in sets, so the prices below reflect sets of irons rather than individual clubs. Here's what we found:
30-day satisfaction guarantee
Pinemeadow Golf stands behind its products with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you're not happy with your clubs within 30 days, you can return or exchange them for a full refund or store credit. The company also offers a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects or structural issues.
A top reputation for going brandless
With over 35 years in operation and an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, Pinemeadow Golf has established a stellar reputation in the industry. While there may not be as many customer reviews as some other retailers, the testimonials on their website are compelling and convincing. Many customers have reported being pleasantly surprised by the quality of their clubs and have even seen improvements in their golf game compared to using high-end clubs from well-known brands.
A surprise birdie
Overall, we highly recommend Pinemeadow Golf to anyone looking for reliable and high-quality golf clubs at an affordable price. Their unique approach to cloning high-end clubs means that you can get top-notch performance without breaking the bank. With their generous satisfaction guarantee and stellar reputation, Pinemeadow Golf is a great choice for any golfer looking to upgrade their game. Pinemeadow Golf easily earns a high rating in our review.
Fairway Golf has been a family-owned business for over 30 years, with two retail locations in San Diego. This family-owned business has a unique approach to selling golf clubs, focusing on a wide range of brands and products rather than just focusing on one brand. If you're particularly interested in Japanese clubs from manufacturers like Fujikura and Mizuno, Fairway Golf is an excellent choice.
Site design could use an update
The shopping experience at Fairway Golf can be a bit cumbersome. The website is not particularly user-friendly, with some minor errors and difficulties navigating through the different categories and product pages. The vibe of Fairway Golf is that it's from a former internet era and hasn't gotten an update. To start shopping, you'll need to select a category or manufacturer first, and then you can filter by hand, gender, loft, or other common features. However, the website does offer some helpful features like product reviews from customers and detailed descriptions of each club. One of the standout features of Fairway Golf is the amount of information provided about each product. Once you click on a club you're interested in, you can specify the hand, loft, shaft, and flex. Most products also come with plenty of photos from multiple angles, and detailed descriptions of features, and some even have videos from the manufacturer.
Selection of 750+ men's and women's clubs
Fairway doesn't sell its own clubs, only those made by other companies. The store offers tons to choose from with over 750 different options across the site. There are a wide range of brands including Cobra, Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade, Wilson, and Mizuno to name a few. You can find a competitive number of women's sets and clubs on a separate area of the site, but it's a little hard to find. To break down the numbers a little, you can expect to find 141 men's drivers, 81 men's irons, and 96 men's woods at Fairway Golf with even more when you dive into the women's section. On top of clubs, you can also find a full range of golf gear at Fairway, so you can use it as your golf one-stop shop.
Prices start at $99.99 for an iron
When comparing prices, we examined the price ranges of four major golf club categories and also looked at the pricing for adult sets. We considered both regular and sale prices for each club, and all prices for the clubs are for individual purchases. Both men's and women's clubs were included in our evaluation. Oddly, there weren't any full sets for men at Fairway. You could only get sets of irons together. The full sets were for women and children only, so we only included women's prices here. Here's what we found for Fairway:
30-day playability guarantee
Fairway Golf has a 30-day "playability guarantee”, which allows you to return or exchange your clubs within 30 days of purchase if you're not satisfied. If you've used your clubs for up to 30 days and they're in "normal use condition”, you'll receive 100% store credit towards your next purchase. This policy shows that Fairway Golf is committed to customer satisfaction. As for its shipping policies, Fairway Golf is not particularly competitive. The shipping information is hidden until you get to checkout, and there are only three options: Next Day Air Saver, 2nd Day Air, and 3 Day Select (and none of them are free).
Decent reputation with loyal customers
Fairway Golf has a strong reputation among long-term customers, earning an "A-" rating from the Better Business Bureau with only one complaint filed in the last three years. While they may not have as much shopper feedback as some larger retailers, what we've found is generally positive. Many customers have praised Fairway Golf for carrying rare or hard-to-find items that are out of stock at larger retailers. Some of Fairway's brick-and-mortar locations have highly positive reviews on Google and Yelp, averaging around 4 stars for most locations.
Worth a look for its wide selection
Overall, Fairway Golf is a solid choice for buying golf clubs, especially for those looking for unique or specialized products. However, if you're looking for a modern interface with help from customer service to decide what's right for you, Fairway Golf doesn't provide much on that count. You'll need to find a more updated retailer if you want a smoother browsing experience. On the other hand, the wide range of clubs and other golf gear makes it a competitive store, earning Fairway Golf a solid rating in our review.
Callaway is a household name in the golfing world, with a rich history dating back to 1982. The company has expanded its reach by acquiring several brands, including Odyssey, OGIO, TravisMathew, Jack Wolfskin, and TopGolf. One of the most significant advantages of buying from Callaway is the guarantee that you're getting genuine products. When you purchase from their online store, you can rest assured that your golf clubs are authentic and high-quality. While there are fewer options overall since Callaway only sells its own merchandise, all of the items are top-tier and often used by pro golfers.
Helpful shopping experience
If you're new to golf or unsure about what clubs to buy, Callaway's website offers a range of tools to help you make an informed decision. The "Fitting" section is particularly useful, featuring quizzes for drivers, fairway woods, irons, and wedges. You can even schedule a complimentary phone call with a Certified Master Fitter to get personalized advice on finding the right clubs for your game. When you jump into browsing, you'll find detailed information about each club, including hand, shaft, grip, and head options. You can also read reviews and ratings from other customers who have purchased the same club.
Nearly 200 clubs to choose from
One potential drawback to buying from Callaway is the limited inventory. As an online store focused on their own brands, they don't offer a wide range of golf clubs like some other retailers. However, this also means that you can trust that the products are authentic and meet high standards. The selection includes around 200 golf clubs, split fairly evenly between men's and women's equipment. Junior clubs are available as part of complete sets only, but not as individual clubs. To break it down for you, you can expect to find 28 drivers, 35 irons, and 23 woods across Callaway's inventory. Outside of clubs, you can find everything you need for your gear-up including golf bags, headgear, gloves, and balls.
Prices start at $85.71 for a single iron
To accurately compare prices during our review, we looked at the price ranges of four major purchases in the realm of golf clubs as well as the prices of adult golf sets. We also included sale prices in our evaluation, and all prices are based on a single club (even though some clubs like irons usually come in sets). All of the prices include men's and women's clubs. Here's what we found for Callaway:
Save money with trade-ins
Callaway's Trade In! Trade Up! program is another advantage of buying directly from their online store. Even if you're looking to trade in golf clubs from other brands, Callaway will give you credit toward a new purchase. Simply enter the manufacturer and club details on their trade-in page, and you'll see how much credit you'll receive. There are even special promotions and discounts available for trade-ins.
30-day satisfaction guarantee and free shipping
When it comes to customer policies, Callaway has a solid satisfaction guarantee. If you're not happy with your purchase within 30 days, you can return it for a full refund or exchange it for a gift card with no expiration date. This is more generous than some other retailers' return policies. Callaway also offers free shipping and returns on all orders, as well as a two-year warranty on every club.
Reputation for slow shipping
Callaway has a mixed reputation in the industry. They have an "A-" rating from the Better Business Bureau and have been trusted by many professional golfers around the world, but average shoppers don't feel as supported by Callaway. Customers complain about slow shipping and misleading information about delays. Others struggle with feeling "spammed” by advertisements when they make purchases from Callaway. Some longtime fans are switching brands due to issues with the shipping and logistics side of buying clubs here. With only a 2-star average from Trustpilot, it seems that Callaway's reputation has taken a hit in recent years.
Too slow for many customers
With their commitment to quality, Callaway may still be worth a look, but if you're in a rush to get your golf clubs, you might not want to shop at Callaway. With so many poor reviews about slow shipping, you could be waiting months for your new clubs. For this reason, Callaway ranks as a more mid-tier site overall.
Golf Galaxy, which launched its first store in 1997, set itself apart by becoming the world's first interactive golf store. At Golf Galaxy, you can find top-brand golf equipment, clothing, accessories, technology, and gifts for golfers of all ages and skill levels. What truly sets Golf Galaxy apart is its unique golf services and interactive features. You can take advantage of lessons and computer video swing analysis to improve your game or suggest the best clubs for your style.
Helpful listings with easy browsing
Shopping for golf clubs at Golf Galaxy's online store is a breeze. You can either start by clicking on golf clubs right away or jump into the site's helpful shopping categories like "Major Sale” or "Americana” if you want a broader starting point. When you start browsing through all of the golf clubs, you'll have access to filters like brand, gender, hand, special features, sales, and price to narrow the field. On the listings themselves, you'll find detailed photographs from multiple angles, showing the face of the club as well as the grip. You'll also see details about the club's functionality like loft, flex, wedge bounce, and more.
Choose from 1,466 clubs
Golf Galaxy has an impressive inventory. The retailer carries premier brands such as Callaway, TaylorMade, Cobra, Cleveland, PING, Titleist, Nike Golf, Adidas, FootJoy, and many others. Not only does Golf Galaxy offer new equipment, but it also sells pre-owned clubs and accepts trade-ins. For new clubs, you'll find 1,466 different types for sale at Golf Galaxy. That includes 217 drivers, 264 irons, and 186 woods. There are also a higher number of women's golf clubs here than at other retailers with 325 to choose from.
Prices from $37.99 for a wedge
When researching golf clubs at Golf Galaxy, we completed our price comparison across different categories, including drivers, irons, putters, and wedges. We also looked at complete golf sets, including men's and women's options. The price comparison at Golf Galaxy includes both sale prices and prices for all adult clubs. Here are the results:
90-day returns and best price guarantee
At Golf Galaxy, you can enjoy a 90-day return policy on most products, including those from affiliated brands like DICK'S Sporting Goods. However, some brands, such as Callaway or Titleist, may have specific return or exchange policies, even when you provide proof of purchase. You'll be happy to know that you can try your golf clubs before committing to keeping them, which means you won't need to return items in their original packaging. You will also be able to use Golf Galaxy's Best Price Guarantee. If you come across an identical product from the same brand, with the same model number, color, and size, offered by a qualifying retailer or website, Golf Galaxy will match that price. Eligible stores include well-known names like Amazon (excluding third-party sellers), Walmart, Cabela's, and many others.
Free shipping on $99+ for most customers
At Golf Galaxy, you can take advantage of free shipping through two easy methods. To qualify for free shipping on orders over $49, log in to your ScoreCard account and choose "Standard Shipping" to receive this benefit. If you don't have a ScoreCard account, you can still earn free shipping, but you'll need to meet a slightly higher threshold. For standard customers without a ScoreCard account, orders totaling $99 or more, excluding oversized and overweight items, can qualify for free shipping.
Lost their top reputation
Golf Galaxy used to hold a top-notch "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but recently, that reputation has fallen. At the time of our review, Golf Galaxy had slid to an "F” rating from the BBB. Third-party reviews are likewise showing a reputation decline. While specific branches sometimes have ratings up to 4.4 stars, Trustpilot shows the average rating for Golf Galaxy is around 2.3 stars. Customers on Trustpilot have expressed disappointment with Golf Galaxy's return policies, citing issues with the company standing behind its 90-day returns.
It may be better for research
While some of Golf Galaxy's features are still highly competitive, dropping to an "F” rating from the BBB in recent years is a massive red flag. For this reason, we can't rate Golf Galaxy higher. While you may still enjoy services like professional swing analysis and recommendations for clubs, you may want to stick with using Golf Galaxy strictly for research.
Golf Town has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1999. Today, it has grown into Canada's largest golf superstore, with numerous locations across the country. The company's massive stores, averaging 18,000 square feet, offer an impressive selection of top brand names in golf at competitive prices. Plus, they offer shipping to the US and prices in USD, making it accessible internationally too. Golf Town claims to provide exceptional service and offer a memorable shopping experience for every customer; unfortunately, we're not entirely sure that's really the case.
Helpful sales and custom options
The site is super easy to navigate. You can jump right into golf clubs by using the top navigation bar. If you're looking for savings off the bat, you might like searching Golf Town's "Demo” club section. This consists of clubs that have been used for testing or teaching purposes like teaching someone to swing more effectively or other functions. They're in great condition, but they've been used before, so you can get a better deal. No matter which section of the store you decide to browse clubs in, you'll see plenty of filters like category, price, hand, shaft, flex, loft, wedge head, and gender to help you narrow the field. Many of the clubs are semi-customizable, so when you get to the listing page, you can specify several options for things like flex or loft to get a more ideal fit for your play style.
Pick from 1,506 clubs
Whether you're looking for clubs, bags, balls, or accessories, Golf Town Limited is a golfer's paradise. You can expect to see plenty of major brands like Callaway, Titleist, TaylorMade, PING, PXG, Cobra, Scotty Cameron, and more. There are 1,506 golf clubs in stock at Golf Town and 68 demo golf clubs. There are far fewer women's golf clubs at Golf Town compared to men's. Out of the 1,500+ total clubs, only 246 are for women. This is still a competitive number overall but shows a significant bias towards men's gear. To give you a breakdown of types, you can find 53 drivers, 235 irons, and 136 woods at Golf Town.
Prices start at $49.99 for putters
To compare prices at Golf Town to other companies in our review, we checked out prices across drivers, irons, putters, and wedges. We also looked at the pricing for golf club sets, featuring options for men and women. Oddly, Golf Town didn't sell individual irons, so the prices for those are based on iron sets rather than just single clubs; the rest are all priced as individual clubs. Here's what we found:
Limited returns in 30 days
When making a return or exchange at Golf Town, you need to do so within 30 days of the original purchase date and provide the original receipt. If you don't have the original receipt, you won't be eligible for a refund or exchange. Refunds will be processed back to the same payment method used for the original purchase. Golf Town doesn't issue store credits, and instead only offers refunds or exchanges. Returned items must be in their original packaging, unopened, with all tags and tickets still attached, and in brand-new condition, including all original parts, manuals, and accessories. The item will be inspected for its integrity before being accepted for a refund or exchange. Shipping will not be refunded in any case, and returns to Canada may be pricey for US shoppers.
Reputation shows issues with online purchases
Golf Town currently holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. On the other hand, third-party reviews elsewhere are harder to find. Golf Town has the most feedback on Yelp, but there are only 23 total reviews there averaging 2.1 stars. The average is a little higher on Trustpilot, with a 3.7-star average, but only 1 review to back up that score. At the moment, it seems Golf Town isn't generating a lot of buzz. Customers who shopped in-store seemed to be pleased. Most of the complaints about Golf Town came from shoppers who made purchases online. Customers ran into issues making exchanges, with odd requests to wait 3-4 weeks to make exchanges or issues using prepaid gift cards.
Not worth the hassle of shopping online
The bottom line? Golf Town is better if you're shopping in person. Online buyers ran into all sorts of problems, and without more reviews to show a more balanced picture of Golf Town, we're a little concerned about what we saw. For this reason, Golf Town earns a lower score, despite its "A+” BBB rating.
Golf Direct Now is an online golf gear dealer that has earned a reputation for offering competitive prices and exceptional customer service. With strong relationships with top golf brands, Golf Direct Now provides a wide range of items for you to choose from. Golf Direct also offers custom embroidery services for golf gear and custom-fitting options to help golfers find the perfect set of clubs. Unfortunately, Golf Direct Now has some difficulties providing customer service, which has lowered its reputation. Read on to learn why.
Helpful and minimal design
Golf Direct Now has a minimalist website with an easy-to-use layout. All of the main categories are listed across the top navigation bar, and make it simple to jump right into golf clubs. You have to pick a club style before you can begin browsing, though. Once you decide on a type of club, you can filter the results by brand, which hand you use, gender, and price. The actual listings include helpful details, including the flex level and loft for each club.
Choose from 744 clubs
Golf Direct Now provides golf clubs, equipment, and apparel from well-known names like Adidas, Callaway, Cobra, PUMA, Ogio, Under Armour, TaylorMade, Adams, and Nike. The online shop offers everything golfers need to improve their game, from clubs and bags to shoes and accessories. You can get men's, women's, and preowned clubs at Golf Direct Now, though the women's section is about a seventh of the size of the men's section. (There are 774 total clubs available at Golf Direct Now and only 122 of them are for women.) To break down the types a little, you can expect to find 95 drivers, 156 irons, and 88 woods.
Prices start at $59.99 for irons
Across all of the golf club retailers we evaluated, we checked out prices for various club categories, including drivers, irons, putters, and wedges. We also looked at the prices for golf sets. Our comparison includes sale prices and men's and women's clubs. Interestingly, Golf Direct Now primarily sells irons in sets, so it's harder to find individual irons. The pricing for this type of club is noticeably limited. Here's what we found otherwise:
Limited return policy within 30 days
The return policy at Golf Direct Now isn't the most customer-friendly. If you're not completely satisfied with your purchase, you can return items in their original, new condition within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. However, a 20% restocking fee may apply in certain situations, and used golf clubs can be returned within 15 days, but you will be charged a 50% restocking fee. Golf balls, bags, and shoes cannot be returned if they show signs of use unless they are defective or covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If the return is due to a product misrepresentation or defect, you will receive a refund for your shipping costs.
Difficulties with shipping, exchanges, and refunds
Perhaps unsurprising due to the expensive restocking fees and less-than-friendly return policy, Golf Direct Now doesn't show up with a high-ranking reputation. At the Better Business Bureau, the company has a "C” rating showing complaints about lost orders or claims that placed orders "don't exist.” On other third-party review sites, the news isn't much better. On Trustpilot, Golf Direct Now has a 3-star average. Customers complain about a lack of status updates, slow shipping, and difficulties completing exchanges or getting refunds. While some customers loved the quality of the clubs and golf gear, it didn't outweigh the range of complaints about service.
Not worth the worries about shipping and returns
Sadly, Golf Direct Now isn't a stand-out performer. In golf terms, we're talking about a bogey at best. With such a lackluster reputation for customer service, we can't recommend checking out Golf Direct Now. They have a low inventory of irons and women's gear, and if the golf clubs aren't a good fit, you'll be charged a 50% restocking fee if you've merely taken the packaging off. Yikes! For these reasons, it earns one of our lowest ratings.
In The Hole Golf has been a staple in the golf community for over a decade, with an inventory including top brands like Nike and Mizuno. While In The Hole Golf seems to have a range of options to choose from, this may not be the case for golf clubs. The online shopping experience leaves much to be desired. The filters on the left side are limited to price, brand, and category, making it difficult to narrow down your search. Plus with many items out of stock, it can make for an overall frustrating experience.
Navigation and supply issues
Navigating the website can be a bit challenging due to the small text size. Although the site offers some unique items like golf training equipment and a competitive range of clubs and accessories, the filtering and page navigation can be clunky, making shopping a bit tedious. Each product page provides a wealth of information, including details on features, specifications, and customer reviews. However, finding available products was a major challenge. When we tried to add a club to our cart, we were often met with an "out of stock" message. This frustration is compounded by the lack of clear communication from the retailer about inventory levels.
Selection needs a lot of updates
At In The Hole Golf, you can browse plenty of golf-related products, including equipment, training aids, GPS systems, apparel, shoes, and accessories from over 150 brands. Furthermore, despite featuring a wide range of brands, the inventory is somewhat limited, with only 152 clubs available, and only five of those options designed specifically for women. Across the site, we found only 21 drivers, 14 irons, and 20 woods. For a site that offers multiple brands, these are shockingly low numbers.
Prices from $29.95 per wedge
When comparing prices at In The Hole Golf to other companies, we analyzed the prices of various golf clubs, including drivers, irons, putters, and wedges. We also examined the pricing for golf club sets, which included options for both men and women. These are the prices as marked for single clubs, though many were out of stock when we tried to click through them to purchase:
60-day return policy
Despite many issues with stock and navigation, In The Hole Golf does offer a generous return policy. You have 60 days to try out your golf clubs and return them for a full refund if you're not satisfied. This is one of the best return policies we've seen in the industry. However, this policy is not enough to redeem In The Hole Golf's poor reputation and lackluster customer service. Until they address these issues (which we describe next), we cannot recommend this retailer to our readers.
Reputation is about as bad as it gets
Unfortunately, our overall impression of In The Hole Golf has been disappointing. Their Better Business Bureau rating has dropped to an "F” rating with an alert on the BBB for a pattern of complaints. Customers have reported issues with delivery, customer service, and refunds. One of the biggest concerns is the frequency of reviews talking about orders being accepted for products that are later found to be out of stock or back ordered. Furthermore, when customers receive incorrect items, In The Hole Golf often requires them to pay for return shipping themselves.
Choose another site you can trust
At In The Hole Golf, the company's reputation is marred by a significant number of low customer reviews and an unappealing website presentation. These factors have significantly impacted the site's overall score in our review. If you're looking for sales, In The Hole Golf might be worth considering, but it's likely safer to opt for a company with a better overall reputation and a more user-friendly shopping experience. As a result, In The Hole Golf receives our lowest score (...or a "double bogey" in golf terms).
This personalized approach can make all the difference in achieving your performance and comfort on the course. Many local golf stores and clubhouses offer this service. But, if you're not close enough to a local golf store to get started, many online golf shops offer self-assessment tools that can help you determine your ideal club set. Some retailers even offer live consultations over the phone or video call, usually at no additional cost.
Shopping online for golf clubs can be a great way to save time and money by comparing similar models side by side. With hundreds of styles of golf clubs to choose from, online stores may even be superior to brick-and-mortar golf stores. You'll find a range of clubs from irons to pitching wedges to the all-important driver. Brands won't be limited by what's in stock, and you may find some more high-end clubs at excellent prices.
If you do decide to purchase golf clubs online, you'll want to spend some time finding the right retailer. A good golf club retailer will provide excellent customer service and have a clear return policy in place. If your clubs don't feel right in your hands or you discover an issue with the fit, you should be able to return them or exchange them for a better fit. By doing your research and choosing the right retailer, you can enjoy the shopping experience and find the perfect set of golf clubs to suit your needs.
