Love2Brew is an adequate supplier of home brew systems. They do offer a variety of brewing sizes, which could appeal to novices and experienced brewers alike. There is an exhaustive list of recipes for any brewing flavor you'd like to try. Their website could use a little updating, and their prices are a bit high. William's Brewing Review 2.5 Star Rating

William's Brewing

2.5 Star Rating

William's Brewing offered a confusing website experience, and the only brewing kits containing equipment were wildly expensive compared to competitors. They have a solid customer service reputation, and sell a large amount of loose brewing equipment. We'd only recommend them if you feel really confident in your brew process and equipment. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Continued from above...

Originating in the Neolithic period in Mesopotamia (say that 3 times fast after 3 beers!), beer developed as a thicker drink and was dominated in production by women. With the advent of new tools allowed by the Industrial Revolution in the 18th century, beer was finally able to be mass produced and provided for the everyday man everywhere. Throughout history beer has been has been beloved, prohibited, praised, and enjoyed.

With the ability to try something new, perfect a craft, or give the gift that keeps on giving, home brewing equipment and recipe kits provide beer lovers, of all kinds, the ability to unite with one sip of a golden ale.

You may feel a little nervous starting out - and that's okay! There are plenty of companies out there with simple starter-kits that have boiled the brew process down to the basics. Maybe you have some experience, and are ready to upgrade to a more individualized brewing experience. Perhaps you already know you enjoy the crisp and refreshing brews of a pale summer ale, or the chocolatey and coffee notes of a deep stout, and you're looking to put your own spin on it. No matter what your particular position may be, we believe you'll find a company that can satisfy your particular brewing desires.

Basic store-bought brands won't ever be the same after enjoying a cold beer following your dedication and hard work. Many of the home brewing supply companies we've reviewed will offer equipment to match your skill level, and recipes to match your taste buds. All you have to do is pick the brew that best suits you!

With such high demand, and a broad and expansive marketplace to choose from, it's no wonder home brewing continues to rise in popularity. However, the brewing supply companies themselves are likely to vary in style, flexibility, focus, and price point. It's important to research what brew supply features are most important to you:

  • Price. What is the cost of supplies? Do you have to pay an additional cost for the recipe itself? Is there a shipping cost? Are there any discounts available?
  • Brew Skill Level. How complex or simple would you like your brewing equipment to be? Often more simplistic brew kits are easy to follow, but difficult to customize. What is your previous experience with brewing? How much beer are you hoping to make?
  • Customer Service. How reputable is the company? Do they have a return policy? Are they well-known for their treatment of customers?
  • Selection. Do they also sell hard cider brewing equipment? Wine making equipment? Do they offer food add-ons or mixes, so you can enjoy those along with your well-earned beverage?

Home Brew Beer Supply Store FAQ

Yes! People have been brewing beer for thousands of years, long before there were brand names and bottling companies.
There are several essential pieces of equipment you'll need for the beer-making process. These include a brewing kettle, fermenter and airlock, sanitizer, auto-siphon, stir spoon, and the ingredients themselves (yeast, grains, etc.). Brown bottles are recommended; you can buy them or reuse store-bought beer bottles.
Let's just say that you're not going to save money by brewing your own beer. You can get a basic starter kit for around $40, or you can spend upwards of $1000 to get the most technologically-advanced brewing systems. Once you have the equipment, your costs will be limited to the consumables used in each batch.
Good things take time. The process of preparing the beer can take 6-10 hours, and you'll usually need to let it ferment and condition for anywhere from 2-4 months before drinking it. Depending on your ingredients and process, you may be able to make a beer that's ready after just a month of fermentation and conditioning. This is not a hobby for the impatient!
Most companies that sell home brew beer equipment are happy to point you in the right direction (or should we say. "pint" you in the right direction?). You'll find lots of how-to articles and even videos, or reach out to their customer service team via toll-free number or live chat to get answers to your questions pre- or post-order.
Despite any horror stories you may have heard, brewing your own beer isn't likely to make you sick. Because you're fermenting and not distilling, the only real risk is that you spoil your batch by not following proper procedures or not cleaning and sanitizing your equipment thoroughly. The worst that can happen? You spend time and money only to wind up with a beer that tastes horrible!
Check your state laws. For example, in California, you can only brew for personal use in your own home (i.e. no selling it, no taking it off the premises) and you're limited to 100 gallons/year if there's one adult or 200 gallons/year if there are 2+ adults in the household.
Some stores will let you return your purchase if it's in unused condition. You'll usually have 30 days from the date of purchase to request a refund.
