Divine Bovine Jerky is a beef jerky company based in Wisconsin and exclusively uses Wisconsin Steer Brisket that's dry-aged for 30 days. The original owner and creator of Divine Bovine Jerky's recipes was Franco, who started his work back in Italy. Today, his family recipes are still used every day, as Franco's grandson offers the same exact flavors with no nitrates, MSG, or other additives.
Register for monthly or bi-monthly shipments
To sign up for a subscription to Divine Bovine Jerky, you'll need to pick from the six different subscription packs. Ranging from 4-8 bags in each shipment, you can pick between beef jerky or turkey jerky. Once you choose a box size, there are two delivery frequencies to pick from: every month or every 2 months. Either way, you pay per shipment. You can also select a 1-time purchase if you just want to try some jerky and don't want to commit to recurring payments.
Only 4 flavors to choose from
The flavors at Divine Bovine Jerky aren't the most exciting. The company only offers four total flavors. At the time of our review, one of those flavors was completely sold out (Original Beef Jerky), so the packages all include different varieties of Tangy Teriyaki, Hot & Tangy Teriyaki, and Spicy Jalapeño. Whether you choose 4, 6, or 8 packages, these are the only flavors you can expect. You can customize which of the flavors has extras in your shopping cart (if you don't want any Spicy Jalapeño in your box of four, you can specify to get 2 Tangy Teriyaki and 2 Hot & Tangy Teriyaki).
Pricing from $35.99 to $63.99 per shipment
Depending on how many packages of jerky you want each month, the prices change slightly. Notably, the beef and turkey options are the same prices. Here's how the costs shake out:
There is no opportunity for savings by changing your shipping frequency either. Whether you want a one-time purchase, a monthly commitment, or a bi-monthly commitment, the price per box is exactly the same.
Get free shipping two ways
If you order a monthly or bi-monthly subscription, shipping at Divine Bovine Jerky will be free of charge. If you choose a single package of beef jerky, you'll need to pay for shipping. However, if you buy $70 of jerky from Divine Bovine Jerky, you'll qualify for free shipping again on the single-purchase items. If you don't make it to the $70 threshold, shipping is around $9.
Cancel any time, but unclear on refunds
When you buy a subscription from Divine Bovine Jerky, you'll be charged each month (or bi-monthly). You can cancel at any time, but we can't find any mention of the return policy on Divine Bovine Jerky's website. There are some online sources that suggest that Divine Bovine Jerky will allow refunds for unopened and re-sellable projects within 30 days of ordering (after subtracting shipping). However, this info is not directly from Divine Bovine Jerky itself.
Not many reviews, but praise is high for flavor
At the time of our review, Divine Bovine Jerky did not have a page with the Better Business Bureau nor did it have any reviews on trusted third-party review sites like Sitejabber or Trustpilot. The only reviews we could find were from Facebook, where Divine Bovine Jerky has under 100 total reviews to go off of. However, the score was a solid 4.7 stars out of 5. Those who loved it praised the flavor and tenderness of the jerky. A few reviewers mentioned it was a great snack for adults and kids alike.
A good spot for reliable flavors
At this time, Divine Bovine Jerky comes in as a mid-tier site for beef jerky clubs in our review. The free shipping policies for the club memberships, and the 4+ packs of jerky minimum, make this good for a lot of jerky for the price. However, with minimal flavors and some out of stock, you won't be getting many new tastes each month. Plus the missing details for a refund policy show that the company could work on its transparency overall. It might be a good site for a one-time buy (unless you love the menu), but it won't be ideal for those who want more adventurous flavors.
Are you a camping enthusiast who needs the best snacks to make your trip extra special? Or maybe you've got a job that means you need a little extra protein with you all the time? Whether you're just a superfan of beef jerky, or trying to get some gains at the gym, there are tons of different flavors and styles of this salty protein snack.
While many of us might be used to grabbing a bag from the local grocery store (which is a fairly limited variety), there are tons of ways to score top-quality beef jerky online. With beef jerky clubs, you never have to worry about running out, and you can freshen up your snacking habits with rotating flavors and exciting new cuts.
Beef jerky is known as an American classic, but the history of the snack actually traces back to China in 1599 AD. In a document detailing Emperor Wan Li's journey in South China, he discovered dried meats made by locals seasoned with spice, salt, and smoke to preserve the food. From there, the idea of dried and smoked meats traveled along the Silk Road to Rome where it later spread and became popular with European nobles. The first time beef jerky was recorded in the US was during the 1800s when colonists used vinegar and salt to cure meat. Today, more than 128 million customers enjoy beef jerky per year, and some of the most popular flavors include teriyaki, pepper, and smoked/mesquite.
So what exactly is a beef jerky club? Well, it's exactly like most subscription clubs. All you need to do is search for a vendor that either provides a range of snacks or one that specializes in beef jerky and meats, find their subscription service, and join. You can usually choose the frequency of your orders or choose prepaid timeframes so that you can give beef jerky as a gift. Most sites offer a range of flavors and styles (we've seen some shops that have over 100 kinds of jerky), and you can get different shapes too, like beef sticks or the more traditional flat jerky.
Whether you're looking for a regular shipment of your tried and true favorites so you don't need to restock or you're hoping to find new flavors of smoke and seasoning, there are tons of services out there for your snacking needs. Either way, a beef jerky club is a great way to get as much beef jerky as you need year-round. You can never go wrong with a little extra protein.
