Jerky Snob is a premium jerky delivery service that specializes in meats that have zero MSG, nitrates, nitrites, or high fructose corn syrup. The company is featured in online news articles from places like BuzzFeed, Forbes, USA Today, and Women's Health. You can buy a range of single bags of jerky or sign up for the Jerky Subscription to get healthy snacks sent to you every month. With different subscription sizes and gifting options, you're bound to find something tasty at Jerky Snob.
Just choose your box and timeframe
Signing up is simple at Jerky Snob. First, you need to select the size of the subscription you'd like, from 2 bags, 4 bags, and 8 bags. Once you click on your preference, you can choose your renewal period (how often you pay), but you'll still receive Jerky Snob boxes every month. Once you decide between month-to-month payments, 3-month prepaid, 6-month prepaid, and 12-month prepaid, you can add your subscription to the cart and check out.
Hard to find details and flavors for the subscription
One area we weren't impressed with was Jerky Snob's general lack of detail on the website. The listings don't offer any specific descriptions of the boxes or the general types of jerky (styles or flavors) that you can expect to receive. All we could find in our research was that the subscription boxes feature different jerky makers every month. To get an idea of the flavors offered by Jerky Snob, we had to look through their shop for single-purchase bags of jerky. Here are some of the flavors we saw:
Pricing from $16 to $54 per month or $48 to $646 prepaid
The pricing also takes a lot of clicking through to find the details. If you click on the two-bag package, you can see prices for all of the payment frequencies right there. However, to see the pricing for 4 or 8-bag packages, you'll have to back out to the main page and start over. To simplify that for you, here are the prices we found:
Shipping costs are relative to the number of packages you buy
You do need to pay for shipping at Jerky Snob. During our checkout, we were quoted $14.25 for shipping to our area for a 2-pack subscription with a 3-month prepay. The shipping is a one-time fee that covers your entire subscription period. So, if you buy a longer prepay, the shipping will go up. For example, a 2-pack subscription for a 12-month prepay had a shipping cost of $57. However, you won't pay for shipping on subsequent deliveries.
Competitive refunds for unused jerky
Jerky Snob does not allow returns for food items, but if there is something wrong with your order, the company's policy states that it will refund you for the damaged or problematic items. This means that if you have 4 bags of jerky and only 1 is damaged, you will receive a refund for the total value of that 1 bag (not your entire order). Further, if you cancel your subscription after the shipment has been sent out, you can't receive a refund for your subscription fee. But you will be refunded for any shipments you didn't use (if you cancel on month 2 of a 12-month subscription, you'll get 10 months of your money back).
High praise for customer service
Like many other sites in our review, Jerky Snob does not have a page on the Better Business Bureau to gauge its reputation. It also doesn't have any reviews on third-party sites like Trustpilot or Sitejabber. The only place we could find feedback for Jerky Snob was from third-party vendors who are also selling boxes and jerkies from Jerky Snob. On these sites, Jerky Snob held an average rating of 4.6 stars out of 5, with praise for how easy Jerky Snob is to purchase as a gift and the incredible variety of flavors. Jerky fans also complimented the customer service team for immediately resolving and responding to problems when they arose.
Best if you love clean eating
Jerky Snob is a standout despite missing reviews from major websites, due to its variety and praise for its customer service policies and interactions with customers. While we'd love to see Jerky Snob update its website to be a bit more user-friendly, the subscription boxes are affordable and are easy to send as gifts. Plus, if you're super into clean eating, these jerkies are perfect for you, earning Jerky Snob a strong rating in our review.
Are you a camping enthusiast who needs the best snacks to make your trip extra special? Or maybe you've got a job that means you need a little extra protein with you all the time? Whether you're just a superfan of beef jerky, or trying to get some gains at the gym, there are tons of different flavors and styles of this salty protein snack.
While many of us might be used to grabbing a bag from the local grocery store (which is a fairly limited variety), there are tons of ways to score top-quality beef jerky online. With beef jerky clubs, you never have to worry about running out, and you can freshen up your snacking habits with rotating flavors and exciting new cuts.
Beef jerky is known as an American classic, but the history of the snack actually traces back to China in 1599 AD. In a document detailing Emperor Wan Li's journey in South China, he discovered dried meats made by locals seasoned with spice, salt, and smoke to preserve the food. From there, the idea of dried and smoked meats traveled along the Silk Road to Rome where it later spread and became popular with European nobles. The first time beef jerky was recorded in the US was during the 1800s when colonists used vinegar and salt to cure meat. Today, more than 128 million customers enjoy beef jerky per year, and some of the most popular flavors include teriyaki, pepper, and smoked/mesquite.
So what exactly is a beef jerky club? Well, it's exactly like most subscription clubs. All you need to do is search for a vendor that either provides a range of snacks or one that specializes in beef jerky and meats, find their subscription service, and join. You can usually choose the frequency of your orders or choose prepaid timeframes so that you can give beef jerky as a gift. Most sites offer a range of flavors and styles (we've seen some shops that have over 100 kinds of jerky), and you can get different shapes too, like beef sticks or the more traditional flat jerky.
Whether you're looking for a regular shipment of your tried and true favorites so you don't need to restock or you're hoping to find new flavors of smoke and seasoning, there are tons of services out there for your snacking needs. Either way, a beef jerky club is a great way to get as much beef jerky as you need year-round. You can never go wrong with a little extra protein.
