Mountain America Jerky is a company based on family values and cultivated by many generations of the Beier family. The Mountain America Jerky brand started off as Dale's Meats and then Dale's Wild West Products in 1992. Since then, Mountain America Jerky has been a sub-brand of Dale's Wild West Products, based out of Brighton, CO. One of the best features of Mountain America Jerky? The nutrition details. There is complete transparency. You can find the total nutrition and ingredients for every single jerky offered on their menu.
How to sign up
To sign up for the Jerky of the Month Club at Mountain America Jerky, you just need to click on the Jerky of the Month Club listing. There's only one option at this vendor, so there's no need to click back and forth between different sizes or lengths. You just click "Add to Cart” and you're good to go.
One plan with around 10 oz of meat
There's only one package option at Mountain America Jerky, rather than the multiple sizes and frequencies that we've seen at other sites. Mountain America's Jerky of the Month Club includes four packs in each delivery, and the package is a prepaid plan for 3 months. You can extend your subscription at any time. Each bag of jerky comes with 3.25 oz of meat with no preservatives. The months are pre-set, so you can see upcoming flavors. At the time of our review, month one included Beef Original, Beef Garlic Pepper, Elk Original, and Buffalo Teriyaki. For month two, they lined up Beef Pepper, Beef Teriyaki, Venison, and Buffalo Spicy. Finally, for month three Mountain America Jerky offered Beef Spicy, Turkey Original, Elk Teriyaki, and Buffalo Original.
Pricing is $181.23 per membership
Because there's only one club at this vendor, the pricing is simple. The 3-month prepaid plan is $181.23, which makes the total price per month $60.41. If you want to add a gift box for your club membership, you can add extra packaging for $5. According to Mountain America Jerky's listing page, there is also a pay-by-month option, but you have to contact the customer service email to get pricing on it. We reached out to their service team to see if we could get a price quote, and never heard back.
Shipping costs are rolled into the price
While shipping isn't free at Mountain America Jerky, the fee is rolled into the cost of the subscription box. So, you won't see any shipping added when you check out. The listing page says that the price of your box includes a one-time shipping charge of $5.95 which is rolled into your total.
Refunds offered within 30 days
According to Mountain America Jerky's policies, you can return your jerky within 30 days if you have any problems with the purchase. The only caveat is that you can only return unopened bags for a refund. However, your refund will not include any costs for shipping. There is not a specific policy listed for refunds on the prepaid packages.
A few reviews on Yelp show great promise
Mountain America Jerky currently holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and while there aren't a lot of reviews online, there are a handful from those who have gone to Mountain America Jerky's retail location locally. These reviews (on Yelp) show a 3.9-star average rating. The company earns compliments for the impressive flavors and freshness of its jerky. There are even some reviews that used the delivery service and praise the timely arrival of the snack boxes and subscriptions.
A rising star in beef jerky
At the moment, Mountain America Jerky seems to be an up-and-coming option for beef jerky clubs. It has a decent selection of jerky and a solid refund policy for items that are damaged. At the moment, the only option you can buy is a 3-month prepaid membership, but the site notes you can get a month-to-month option if you contact their service team. Further, Mountain America Jerky holds an "A+” rating from the BBB, making it more competitive due to its positive reputation. Balancing all these features, Mountain America Jerky still has a little room to grow, but it earns an above-average rating in our review.
Are you a camping enthusiast who needs the best snacks to make your trip extra special? Or maybe you've got a job that means you need a little extra protein with you all the time? Whether you're just a superfan of beef jerky, or trying to get some gains at the gym, there are tons of different flavors and styles of this salty protein snack.
While many of us might be used to grabbing a bag from the local grocery store (which is a fairly limited variety), there are tons of ways to score top-quality beef jerky online. With beef jerky clubs, you never have to worry about running out, and you can freshen up your snacking habits with rotating flavors and exciting new cuts.
Beef jerky is known as an American classic, but the history of the snack actually traces back to China in 1599 AD. In a document detailing Emperor Wan Li's journey in South China, he discovered dried meats made by locals seasoned with spice, salt, and smoke to preserve the food. From there, the idea of dried and smoked meats traveled along the Silk Road to Rome where it later spread and became popular with European nobles. The first time beef jerky was recorded in the US was during the 1800s when colonists used vinegar and salt to cure meat. Today, more than 128 million customers enjoy beef jerky per year, and some of the most popular flavors include teriyaki, pepper, and smoked/mesquite.
So what exactly is a beef jerky club? Well, it's exactly like most subscription clubs. All you need to do is search for a vendor that either provides a range of snacks or one that specializes in beef jerky and meats, find their subscription service, and join. You can usually choose the frequency of your orders or choose prepaid timeframes so that you can give beef jerky as a gift. Most sites offer a range of flavors and styles (we've seen some shops that have over 100 kinds of jerky), and you can get different shapes too, like beef sticks or the more traditional flat jerky.
Whether you're looking for a regular shipment of your tried and true favorites so you don't need to restock or you're hoping to find new flavors of smoke and seasoning, there are tons of services out there for your snacking needs. Either way, a beef jerky club is a great way to get as much beef jerky as you need year-round. You can never go wrong with a little extra protein.
