Jeulia offers handcrafted jewelry designed and manufactured in its Hong Kong studios. The company believes that bespoke pieces allow the wearer to fully express his or her personality, and they want to create the perfect necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings that you'll want to wear not just for special occasions but every day.
Just under 3,000 jewelry options
Let's take a look at Jeulia's inventory. Here's what you can expect in the four jewelry categories this store offers:
Time to get bespoke
Once you've spotted a piece of jewelry that you love (or that you'd love to give), that's where the fun starts. You'll see all of the possible customizations, from the metal you'd like used (from 10K white up to platinum), which stones you'd like to use (when applicable), and the corresponding prices of each upgrade you select.
Look up for promotions
Jeulia has lots of ways to save money on your jewelry purchase. You'll get free shipping if your order is over $99 (or free express delivery when your order is $180+), and there are often discount codes scrolling at the top of the site. For example, during our most recent visit to Jeulia, there was a 10% savings on all purchases featured there, as well as a 20% discount on orders with at least two items (mix-and-match).
Expect to jump through hoops on returns/exchanges
Jeulia promises a 30-day return/exchange policy and a 1-year warranty against any defects in the jewelry. However, there are a lot of caveats that are only spelled out when you click on the details in the Returns link at the bottom of the site. For example, any jewelry that you design on your own or customize in any way (including any jewelry with 10K/14K/18K gold in any variety, and anything with moissanite) will incur a 35% restocking fee for the exchange and is not eligible for a return. They also don't say it outright, but we're pretty sure that you're on the hook for the cost of shipping for any jewelry that is eligible for a return, and that's probably going all the way to Hong Kong. Ditto that for the 1-year warranty coverage on any Jeulia item that doesn't live up to expectations quality-wise: you have to pay the costs of sending it to Jeulia for repair.
Definitely don't expect US-based customer support
As you browse the Jeulia site, it becomes obvious pretty early on that the company isn't based in the US. You'll see oddly-worded text like "when you subscribe email below” and "within 30 days return”, and that's just on the pop-up offering a $10 discount. You'll experience more of the same if you manage to reach someone at the toll-free number Jeulia provides (which is only available for a few hours a day) or via email: there's no US-based customer support here.
Scam?!
It's also not a good sign when you search for a jewelry store's listing with the Better Business Bureau, and the first relevant link that comes up is "BBB Scam Tracker”. That entry was from a customer who received rings from Jeulia just a few months before this review, describing them as "cheap like kids' fake jewelry” and said that they had no luck getting a refund when the rings were much smaller than their advertised size. Beyond that report, however, we were no longer able to find a rating for Jeulia from the Better Business Bureau; over the years, Jeulia went from an "F” to "Not Rated” and now, it's nonexistent as far as the BBB is concerned.
Customers have a love/hate relationship
What about customer feedback elsewhere? It's surprisingly positive. We'll give you the usual cautions about reviews online in general (they can't always be counted on to be legit), but across quite a few third-party platforms, Jeulia doesn't fare too badly. The independently-verified reviews linked on the Jeulia site itself averaged out to 4.34 stars in 109 reviews spanning the six months leading up to our evaluation, with most customers saying the jewelry was cute, they (or their kids, or grandkids, or significant others) loved it, and even a few people said they've been loyal Jeulia customers for several years.
It doesn't get any better
On Trustpilot, the average is a little less glowing at 3.8 stars, and we're not 100% confident in the validity of many of the 5-star scores. We also found rants there from customers whose jewelry lost stones within a month (and who would have had to pay steep return fees to get it taken care of). It's telling that at Trustpilot specifically, 58% of the ratings were 5-star and a whopping 33% were 1-star, with hardly anything in between. In other words, you'll either love it (if the 5-star ratings are to be believed) or hate it when you buy jewelry from Jeulia.
Last on our list of jewelry stores
We're willing to give Jeulia a slight bump from our last evaluation, because it looks like some people are actually receiving their orders and are happy with the jewelry they receive. We also saw responses to all of the complaints, even if it takes Jeulia's customer support team some time to get around to it. But on the whole, it's still a somewhat risky proposition to buy your jewelry here, especially if you're ordering a big-ticket item that needs to be practically perfect (like an engagement ring). Order from Jeulia strictly for fun, and only spend what you could afford to potentially lose, because you could have trouble getting a refund even if your order never arrives.
Jewelry has captivated humans for centuries, not just as shiny adornments but as meaningful symbols of love, status, and personal style. From ancient Egyptian pharaohs who wore gold and gemstones to symbolize their divine status, to the protective amulets of medieval Europe, jewelry has always been much more than mere decoration.
Today, people buy jewelry for various reasons: to celebrate milestones, express personal style, or even as investments. Whether it's a sparkling engagement ring or a simple bracelet that matches your favorite outfit, jewelry holds a special place in our lives.
One big change in the world of jewelry is the ability to shop online. Have you ever gone to a brick-and-mortar jewelry store and felt pressured by a hovering salesperson? We have! It's not an enjoyable experience, but fortunately it's one that's easily avoided now. You can get access to the widest range of bracelets, earrings, watches, rings, necklaces, and any other kind of jewelry imaginable through online stores. Even the big-name jewelers' best selection is typically online.
Does the idea of buying your jewelry over the internet make you a little nervous? That's understandable, but the good news is that there are plenty of customer-centric policies and processes offered by online jewelers that should set your mind at ease. Some stores let you do a real-time inspection via video call, so you can see what you're buying from every angle.
Others let you ship your jewelry to a local store or an in-person partner location so you can see it up close and personal before you decide to commit to the purchase. And, the best online jewelry stores have generous return and exchange policies, often with free return shipping (or in-store returns if they have retail locations near you).
When diving into the world of online jewelry shopping, it's important to navigate with a bit of savvy to ensure you're getting something truly special. Here are a few criteria that can help you out as you decide where to shop:
