What is the Best Junk Removal Company to Use?  We all have a little too much "junk" lying around our homes, whether it's in the garage, taking up valuable closet space, or hidden in the attic. Sometimes we inherit someone else's stuff and we want to find a place for it to go but don't have the time to sort and distribute it ourselves. Enter the junk haulers.
Known for their moving service started in 1985, Two Men and a Truck offers junk removal services at select locations across the country. The company is the nation's largest franchised moving company, covering 48 states, as well as Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
Takes a few steps to find out if there's a location near you
To get a free quote, click on the website button, call the company, or text them. First you will be asked to put in your contact information and indicate if the service is for home or a business. Once you input your address, choose one of the locations offered to provide your service (this can be a benefit if you are serviced by a higher-ranking location that is slightly further away). However, it's not until after this step that you will be able to see if junk removal is a service offered by your location (a definite waste of your time). Next, choose a date and then they will reach out to you to discuss the services and gather additional details.
But no pricing to see anywhere
Pricing for Two Men and a Truck junk removal is by volume - what percentage of the truck does your stuff fill? They will provide you with an estimated pricing structure over the phone, but in-person quotes are required to get the final cost. There are no prices available online, even after completing the information for the free quote. Since some companies provide a rough online estimate both before and after submitting a form, this is one way that Two Men and a Truck falls short.
Can choose curbside, full-service, or add-on to move
Two Men and a Truck offers contactless junk removal if you want to leave items at the curb for them to haul away. Junk removal can be added on to moving services or booked as a standalone service. By the way, Two Men and a Truck uses different trucks for their junk hauling than they do for moving, and each team of junk haulers is professionally trained, background checked, and drug screened before being sent to your home.
Not going to take these things
They are not able to remove these hazardous waste materials: asbestos, medical waste or supplies, household trash or garbage, liquid-based items, hazardous materials, wet paint, chemicals, household cleaners, HAZMAT materials, propane or other flammable items, oil filters, batteries, or mercury-based items. Their website mentions that since electronic items may be restricted by local government, if you need to have any of these removed, you should check your local regulations first: appliances with liquids, appliances not emptied, heavy and dense materials (concrete, asphalt, dirt, brick, roofing shingles), yard waste, tires, and e-waste.
Laudable company motto, charities supported
The company motto encompasses what Two Men and a Truck calls "The Grandma Rule": treat everyone the way you would want your own grandma to be treated. Along these lines, the company says it gives back to seniors in the community. The company also partners with charities such as Convoy of Hope, Cheeriodicals, Toys for Tots, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity to help those in need. Additionally, Two Men and a Truck has its own charities and campaigns to support women, provide meals, benefit animal shelters, honor veterans, and clothe the homeless in the community.
Limited information about sustainability policies
The information about the junk removal service is very limited on the Two Men and a Truck website. Nothing indicates what the company does with items removed from your home - simply noting "we'll remove and dispose of these unwanted items for you."
Customer reviews
Individually franchised Two Men and a Truck locations are listed on the BBB separately, being accredited and ranked by each business' local customers, so there is no company-wide rating, though the dozen franchises we looked at were all ranked "A" or higher. Reviews across various online platforms also rank the individual locations, with reviews regarding their moving services most readily available - and those are very mixed. Since we didn't find any about their junk removal, we can't say how customers will rank them, but we recommend looking up your local franchise if you decide to go with this option.
Needs improvement
While Two Men and a Truck may be popular for moving, it lags behind in the junk hauling business. There's not enough information about what they do with removed items, and we're not convinced that the junk removal service is as robust as their overall moving service. We suggest looking elsewhere.
Continued from above...
Instead of just hiding the unwanted knicknacks, piling up the clothing that no longer fits, or shoving odds and ends away to use "someday," take action now to get rid of it. Make your pile, call or make a request online for an appointment with a junk hauler, and find the peace of mind that you've been missing each time you look at that unwanted treadmill in the corner of the basement.
Better than just putting your stuff at the curb for the trash pickup, many junk removal companies provide a way to make sure the items you no longer need are disposed of in a way that least impacts the environment. Some partner with local charities to rehome your items or even put them up for sale in a thrift shop which benefits their chosen cause.
So if you've been spring cleaning, working on a home renovation project, replacing furniture and appliances, or preparing to downsize, it's time to call a junk hauling company to quickly get the unwanted items out of your way. But how do you know who to trust? What is going to happen to the stuff you give them? And honestly, how much is this going to cost?
Those are all valid questions we have considered as we ranked popular removal services. We hope to help you find the answers you need so you can get that junk out of your home and get on with the business of enjoying your space. Keep these factors in mind:
We at Top Consumer Reviews have evaluated and ranked the most popular nationwide junk hauling companies to help make your decision a little easier. Find one that meets your needs, sit back, and enjoy the relief of letting go of the stuff you no longer need.
