Are you or someone you know ready to embark on a journey toward healthier eating with the Ketogenic (Keto) diet? People love the idea of burning fat for fuel instead of carbs. Eating avocados, nuts, and olive oil became a popular health kick with positive benefits for weight loss and muscle growth.
And the Keto diet isn't just a weight loss thing - it helps with conditions like diabetes and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Today, Keto is more than a diet fad. It's a legitimate, medically-proven way to eat. It fits different tastes and lifestyles, whether you're into losing weight, staying sharp, or boosting your sports game.

Sunbasket is a newer Keto Meal Delivery service on the market. It emerged seven years ago and has developed into one of your best choices for healthy (and organic) meal kit delivery.
High quality, organic ingredients
Sunbasket utilizes a variety of high-quality, organic ingredients and caters to a range of diets and nutrition plans, including Keto, Paleo, and the Mediterranean diet, as well as options for vegans and vegetarians. Adding another dimension to its business model, Sunbasket introduced a nearly full-service online marketplace of grocery items, encompassing fresh meat, fish, seafood, cheese, coffee, snacks, and bread. All of these items can be incorporated into your box each week. Sunbasket uses approximately 99% USDA-certified organic produce, all of which you'll find crisp and fresh upon arrival. All the nutritional information you might need is readily accessible both at the time of selection and when your meals are delivered.
Service Overview:
Basic plan: Fresh and Ready
There are two ways to buy meals from Sunbasket. Fresh and Ready is the cheaper of the two. Fresh and Ready meals start at $9.99 per serving and you can choose from 4-10 meals per week. The best feature of these meals is that the selection is based on ready-made food. You don't have to cook, clean, or prepare. Just stick the Fresh and Ready meals in your oven (or microwave) and you're ready to eat. The prices once you choose your servings shake out to $39.65 to $99.99 per week. While these meals generally serve one person, you can add extra meals or just buy double for yourself.
Sample Keto meals
Some of the Keto-friendly meals in the Fresh and Ready section include:
Top tier plan: Meal Kit
Now, if you're looking for something more involved and ingredient-based, the standard Meal Kit is what you'll want to shop for. The meal kits cook within 15-40 minutes depending on the recipe and start at $11.49 per serving. In this section, you can more specifically narrow down diet styles, adding in extras like Gluten-free or Vegetarian options without increasing the price. The other big difference is that the shipments offer serving sizes for 2-4 people and up to 5 meals at those serving sizes. So, when you add the price by serving, the cost of a Meal Kit from Sunbasket ranges from $45.96 per week for a 2-person 2-meal kit up to $229.80 per week for a 4-person 5-meal kit.
Sample Meal Kits
Some of the meals you can expect from the Meal Kits include:
100% mouthwatering guarantee
Sunbasket offers a 100% Mouthwatering Guarantee because they want you to love your experience. If you're not satisfied, they guarantee to make it right. All you need to do is contact the company's Help Center within 7 days of delivery. On top of that benefit, the Sunbasket subscription comes with no commitment. The kits and meals are delivered weekly, but you have the flexibility to skip a week or cancel anytime. If you're out of town, Sunbasket will even deliver to your vacation destination too.
A fan favorite with reviewers
Our research into Sunbasket's reputation turned up a "B-” rating from the Better Business Bureau. While that score is somewhat mid-tier, the reviews and ratings elsewhere from customers are anything but. On Trustpilot, Sunbasket has an impressive 4.6-star average with thousands of reviews to back up the score. On top of that, there are 5-star reviews all over on food and fitness blogs raving about everything from ingredients to flavor. Customers appreciate how easy the recipes are to make, and for those who prefer a quick option, there's always the Fresh and Ready meals which customers love for their flavor and quick cook times. On top of that, subscribers rave about the a-la-carte market where you can add extras for your meals (or just snacks if you want).
Most flexible meal plans
Flexibility is one of the top features that makes Sunbasket stand out from the pack. Instead of offering just family-size meals or single portions, Sunbakset offers you the flexibility to choose which one works best for your lifestyle. With a wide array of diets alongside Keto, you can support not just your fitness needs, but any other food-related concerns like allergies, vegan eating, and more. The pricing is also highly competitive for up to 10 meals per week, which gives a single person at least 1 meal per day and a few lunches to boot.
Top Keto meal delivery service
For all these reasons, Sunbasket surpasses the other meal delivery options in this review. And it's not only us, our decision is highly supported by the rave reviews from customers about the delicious flavor and ease of preparation of these meal kits. Sunbasket earns a 5-star rating and the top spot in our review of Keto Meal Delivery services.
Based in Anaheim, California, Fresh N Lean is a meal delivery service established in 2010. The company stands by its commitment to providing high-quality and ready-to-eat single-serving meals.
Quick and convenient
Designed to be stored in the refrigerator and quickly reheated in the microwave, these meals offer convenience and quick preparation for customers who want tasty meals without all the hassle. The service operates on a weekly delivery schedule, allowing customers to choose between 5 or 7 days' worth of meals and customize the number of meals per day to fit their preferences. What sets Fresh N Lean apart is its focus on superior ingredients, such as organic produce, grass-fed beef, free-range poultry, and sustainable seafood. Notably, the entire menu is gluten-free, reflecting the company's dedication to providing nutritious and dietary-friendly options.
Service Overview:
Basic plan: Vegetarian
While there isn't really a basic vs. top tier option for meal plans at Fresh N Lean, there's a definite difference in price. The lowest cost plan at Fresh N Lean is the Vegetarian plan. At the low end, the Vegetarian plan costs $42.45 per week. This includes 1 meal per day for 5 days a week. Now, if you want a more holistic meal plan, you can choose to get 3 meals per day 7 days a week. This will cost up to $178.29 per week.
Sample vegetarian meals
Some of the meals you can expect to get from the Vegetarian Plan include:
Best keto plan: Keto
There's only one plan from Fresh N Lean that offers a full Keto experience. This plan is a little more expensive than the Vegan and Vegetarian options. The prices start as low as $77.45 for 1 meal per day for 5 days. The higher end gets pretty expensive, though. The most expensive Keto plan, which includes 3 meals per day 7 days a week, costs $223.86.

Some of the food you can expect to find in the Keto plan include:
Ambiguous refund policy
While Fresh N Lean does have a policy regarding refunds, it's pretty ambiguous. According to the site's FAQ, Fresh N Lean's refunds are not guaranteed. Instead, they are judged on a case-by-case basis, which doesn't tell us very much about the criteria you'd need to meet to qualify for a refund. Though the company does promise to do its best to "accommodate” customers, the actual guidelines are very up in the air.
High reputation and praise for selection
One area where Fresh N Lean really impressed was its reputation. The company holds an impressive "A+” rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. On top of this, it's highly popular with reviewers on third-party websites. The average rating is 4.1 stars out of 5, and most of the recent reviews are 5 stars. Customers are praising all aspects of the company: the customer service, the flavor, the delivery timing, and the selection. Some of the mid-tier reviews wish that the meals were a little more flavorful, but overall the praise for the food is high.
Great option for 3-meals-a-day Keto
The selection of foods is impressive from Fresh N Lean, and the reputation is one of the best out there. With an impressive "A+” rating and high praise from customers, it appears to be one of the top competitors on the market for a full Keto diet. We particularly appreciated that Fresh N Lean offers options that cover all 3 meals per day and snacks 7 days per week. This way, all the stress of Keto meal prepping is gone. You just need to pull one of these out of the fridge.
One of the best
Since the meals from Fresh N Lean are not frozen, customers say the flavor is very good on most of the selections. The only place Fresh N Lean doesn't stand out is in its refund policy. However, their high customer ratings suggest they're willing to work with customers when needed. All said, Fresh N Lean stands out as a top Keto meal delivery program. They earn one of our highest ratings.
Since 2013, the Factor meal delivery service has been dishing out gourmet, top-notch meals right to your doorstep whenever you need them. These meals are not only fresh but fully prepared in individual servings, requiring just a few minutes of reheating before they're ready to savor.
Restaurant quality meals
Factor lets you choose from a selection of 35 restaurant-quality meals every week. As a sibling brand to meal delivery giants HelloFresh, Green Chef, and EveryPlate, Factor focuses on health, delivering fresh, heat-and-eat meals portioned for one with a gourmet flair. The company has a squad of chefs and dietitians crafting dishes, ranging from beloved comfort food classics to globally inspired cuisines. Factor's meals accommodate various dietary preferences, including options for Keto, vegetarian, and "calorie smart."
Service Overview:
Only one plan: mix-and-match
The way that the plans work on Factor is really fascinating. Instead of choosing one box type, you can select all of the types of boxes and have the company include all your dietary needs in one shipment. For example, there are 6 "preferences” to choose from (chef's choice, Keto, Calorie smart, Flexitarian, Protein Plus, Vegan & Veggie) and you can choose one of these dietary preferences or all of them and get a box selected for all your needs.
Basic Keto
For the Basic plan, we're looking at the pricing for just the Keto box (no other preferences selected). You can select from 6-18 meals per week allowing you to make anywhere from 2 meals per day up to 3 meals a day (for six days a week). The lowest cost for the Keto-only plan is $80.94 a week for 6 meals. The most expensive is $197.82 for 18 meals per week. If you want to add in the other options like Calorie Smart and Keto together, this won't change your price. Instead, it just changes what Factor will recommend for you in terms of meals. But no matter what, you have access to all the meals, and you can choose whatever you like.
No refunds but you can earn Factor Freebies
There's one thing to keep in mind at Factor, and that's the shipping. All orders have a flat-rate shipping fee of $10.99. This is not included in your meal plan cost. So, if you're ordering the six-meal plan, the total cost with shipping comes to $91.93 once you add the shipping on top of the $80.94 for the meals themselves. On top of that, we couldn't find any statements for guarantees or refunds, so you will need to be aware that getting your money back might be more difficult with Factor. On the bright side, you can earn some free items depending on how long you stay with Factor. Factor Freebies, their free meal rewards program, offers you totally free meals when you reach milestones. Most of the rewards offer a $60 value, so you can pick and choose what you want to apply it toward.
Reviewers say Factor has the full package
Factor has an impressive reputation. The company holds a perfect "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, the company is very popular with food bloggers and workout bloggers, which shows that people are trying it and loving the high-quality, non-frozen meals. According to Trustpilot, the average star rating for Factor is 4 stars. Customers praised the look and taste of the food including excellent seasoning. And, there were tons of reviews praising the addition of sides and veggies with meals.
Best option for singles
While Factor might not be for everyone because of the single-portion servings, for singles or those who just need to feed themselves and maybe one other person, Factor is a great service. With a unique mix-and-match approach, you get totally fresh meals that are never frozen. You can select exactly what you need to create your ideal meal package, and with high praise from customers regarding flavor and variety, it's a great place to get started. The prices are competitive and with their rewards program, you can earn free meals as you go. For these reasons, Factor gets a solid rating and stands out as the best Keto Meal Delivery option for singles who don't want to deal with the stress of cooking.
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Green Chef allows you to explore over 50 weekly meals with flexible meal kits. This Keto Meal Delivery service can fit any lifestyle with mix-and-match meals. You can easily swap in premium proteins or add chicken or fish to a variety of vegan and veggie meals.
Pre-portioned ingredients
With Green Chef, embracing a Keto lifestyle becomes a delight, featuring delectable, restaurant-worthy meals that align with your dietary goals. Plus, every box comes with pre-portioned ingredients, reducing food waste and lessening your environmental impact. The main difference from some of the other options in this review? Green Chef makes you a culinary expert. You get a box of ingredients with 10 new Keto recipes each week. This means instead of pre-packaged meals, you'll get to enjoy the cooking experience too.
Service Overview:
Only one plan: mix-and-match
The way meal kits operate on Green Chef is based on a mix-and-match method. Instead of limiting yourself to one box type, you have the flexibility to choose from all foods by narrowing down the type of diet you want to follow. There are eight "preferences" to consider (Keto, Protein, Gluten-free, Vegan, Veggie, Quick and Easy, Mediterranean, Low-carb, and Premium), and you can opt for one or all of these dietary preferences to have a box curated to meet all your needs.
Basic Keto box
Focusing on the Basic plan, we'll examine the pricing specifically for the Keto box (without selecting other preferences), though the price doesn't change if you add extra preferences, so no matter your diet, you can expect the numbers to stay the same. You can also choose between 3 to 4 meals per week, allowing you to have 1 meal per day that feeds between 2-6 people (depending on your preference). Or, if you don't mind leftovers, a single person could eat for 6-8 days by splitting meals in half. The starting cost for the Keto-only option is $80.94 per week for the 3-meal plan for 2 people. The highest cost is $215.82 per week for the 4-meal plan that serves 6 people with each meal.
Customer service will only step in with shipping delays
During our research, we couldn't find any explicit information about the refund policy or satisfaction guarantee at Green Chef. The only note we could find was buried in the shipping policies. When delivery delays like unexpected truck breakdowns or weather-related traffic disruptions occur, Green Chef says there might be a case for customer service to intervene. While the packaging is designed to handle delays, and your ingredients should arrive in optimal condition, if your box doesn't arrive cool to the touch and at a safe temperature of 40 degrees or below, you can call customer service to resolve the issue (though there's no statement on whether this resolution would be a new shipment or a refund).
Solid reputation for easy recipes
Despite no listed refund policy, Green Chef has a pretty solid reputation. The company holds an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, Green Chef is very highly regarded by fitness and food bloggers alike, receiving upwards of 4 stars from most food bloggers. However, when we checked the verified third-party reviews, the score was a bit lower. Trustpilot shows that the average rating for Green Chef is 3.8 stars. While this isn't shabby at all, it is a bit lower than many of the bloggers suggest. According to these reviews, customers agree that the recipes are easy to follow and make some pretty tasty meals overall. On the other hand, one or two reviews complained about shipping troubles and missing meals that they paid for, though these reviews are far outnumbered by the positives.
Best if you like cooking for 2+
There are some pretty neat things going on with Green Chef, especially if you enjoy cooking or if you have a multi-person household. Its 2- to 6-person meals make it easy to make sure everyone gets fed. And if you are living alone, you can split meals for leftovers to make your kit last 6-8 days. However, if you're not a fan of cooking, this Keto Meal Delivery service might not be for you. And, with an average shipment of 3-4 days of food, Green Chef offers fewer total meals (even if you split them) than many competitors. That plus the lack of a refund or guarantee brings down its rating just a bit. It's definitely worth checking out for cooking enthusiasts, but if you're looking for a full week of food (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) you'll miss out if you choose this option.
Open since 1991, Diet-to-Go presents itself as a great option for easy and budget-friendly Keto meals. The focus of Diet-to-Go is to help you not just shed some pounds but keep that healthy lifestyle going strong once you've reached your fitness goals. Diet-to-Go works with chefs in a USDA-certified kitchen who whip up fresh and tasty, low-calorie meals. All meals are created by dieticians, so you know that what you're getting is filled with the essential nutrients for your specific dietary needs.
Service Overview:
Basic plan: Balance
The most basic plan at Diet-to-Go doesn't actually focus on Keto. The Balance Plan is more about designing a diet for weight-loss purposes. While this could function with a Keto diet, if you want only Keto items, you'll need to pick the top-tier plan instead. But, if you're interested in a mix, you can start with the Balance plan. The prices range from $138.99 per week for 2 meals a day for a women's portion on a 5-day-a-week schedule to $225.99 per week for 3 meals a day for a men's portion on a 7-day-a-week schedule.
Sample Balance meals
Some of the meals you can find in this plan include:
Best keto plan: Keto-Carb30
The only plan from Diet-to-Go that really narrows down to Keto-specific offerings is the Keto-Carb30 plan. Unsurprisingly, this option is a little more expensive than the Balance plan. Starting at $151.99, you get the Keto-Carb30 meals on a 5-day-a-week schedule with 2 meals per day. However, the most expensive plan with 7 days a week and 3 meals per day is actually exactly the same price as the high end for the Balance program for $225.99 per week. But this doesn't mean everything is the same. The meals you can expect in the Keto plan are much different.
Sample Keto meals
Here are some samples of what you can expect from the Keto meal plan:
100% satisfaction guarantee
Diet-to-Go has the bonus of being extremely straightforward and fair. The company promises there will be no tricks or hidden fees. You pay for what you order, and if you need to take a break or cancel, they allow plenty of flexibility. Plus, they've got your back with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If anything isn't right with your order or the service, they'll fix it or give your money back, with no hassle. It's as simple as that.
Customer reviews are a mixed bag
When researching Diet-to-Go's reputation, we hit a little snag. Diet-to-Go doesn't have a page on the Better Business Bureau. Instead, we had to find its parent company, New Century Food Group. This company does have a page with the BBB, and an impressive "A+” score. Now, as for reviews, while Diet-to-Go shows there are tons of 5-star reviews on third party sites, most of them are food blogs rather than the sites we usually search like Trustpilot or Sitejabber.
Trust but verify
When we tried to verify some of the reviews listed on the Diet-to-Go website, several of the sites didn't exist anymore, or we couldn't find the corresponding review for Diet-to-Go when we checked in on it. Sitejabber and Consumer Affairs show an average score of 3.8, which isn't too bad, but the reviews were pretty evenly split between 5- and 1-star reviews. The positives at Diet-to-Go included food selection and flavor. Other customers who didn't love the experience said they had trouble getting a hold of customer service when payment problems arose.
Doesn't have many stand-out features
While the variety and meals look pretty good at Diet-to-Go, it was a little disappointing that only one of the plans on this site is designed for Keto diets. While the 100% satisfaction guarantee is a bonus, the mix of 5-star reviews shown on the Diet-to-Go site with less popularity from standard third-party review sites makes it hard to gauge the company's success with real customers. However, there is the "A+” rating of its parent company to consider. On the other hand, since there are much better options out there, Diet-to-Go falls in the middle of the pack in this review.
Top Chef Meals, a family-owned enterprise, delivers chef-prepared, ready-to-eat meals directly to your home. However, their focus is a little different than some of the other options in our review.
Extra dietary concerns
While Top Chef Meals does include Paleo, Keto, Dairy-Free, Low-Carb, Low-Sodium, and Low-Fat diets, the styling and focus of the meals is directly toward the elderly and children. With this in mind, Top Chef Meals adds extra dietary concerns to their pack like Renal or Diabetic diets. While this is commendable, there's one snag that doesn't help this site shine brightly. The website has unfortunately very slow performance, and the selection of appealing and imaginative vegetarian, vegan, and soy-free meal choices is lacking. Many of the meals come across as having a "TV-dinner” vibe, which may not be appealing to younger customers.
Service Overview:
Basic plan: A-la-carte
The first way to shop (and the cheapest) at Top Chef Meals is their a la carte selection. You can add meals one at a time, and buy as many (or as few) as you need. Meals range in price from $8.95-$17.95, so the final amount is limited only by how many meals you want and how much you want to spend. For a full week's worth of meals (three meals per day) you can spend anywhere from $187.95-$376.95 if you stick to either the least expensive meals or the most expensive.
Top tier plan: Keto Menus
The meal packages at Top Chef Meals are a little different than at other companies. For starters, you have to order a minimum of 20 meals. The other feature is that you order these when you need them rather than subscribing for regular shipments. There are four Keto menus to choose from (each with 20 meals that automatically get added to the cart). Each of these menus also are priced on the a-la-carte menu. So, for Menu 1, the price is $229.85, Menu 2 costs $233.35, Menu 3 (which is only 19 meals) costs $220.30, and Menu 4 (which goes up to 21 meals) costs $226.24. So, depending on whether you want 19 or 21 meals, you can expect to pay between $220.30-$233.35 for the curated selection. These include a mix of cheaper and expensive options, though they all appear to pull from the same base Keto menu, so the different "Menus” themselves lack variety.
Sample Keto meals
For these pre-selected Keto menus you can find meals like:
100% satisfaction guarantee
Despite a pretty confusing menu and lack of variety, Top Chef Meals does offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Top Chef Meals assures you of the quality of their products and their delivery in the best condition possible. Given that a perishable product is involved, you can't return any of the food items. However, any meals that are damaged, spoiled, or otherwise inedible as a direct result of shipping or delivery will be replaced or credited to your Top Chef Meals account. But, the company does note that if you don't like the food because of its flavor or "quality”, you won't be reimbursed.
Reputation boosted by happy customers
While we have our concerns about this company's reputation, since we couldn't find any page for Top Chef Meals on the Better Business Bureau, customer reviews restored our confidence. While it's still not a dream to browse this site, customers on Trustpilot and other verified third-party review sites love this company. The average review rating (out of more than 6,000) is 4.2 stars out of 5 and most of the recent reviews are 5 stars. Customers praise the flavor and the quick shipping as well as unique seasonal selections for meals. Those with kids who tried out the children's meals were particularly grateful for the easy preparation. While there aren't a lot of reviews specifically for the Keto meals, Top Chef Meals clearly stands out for its quality according to happy customers.
Mid-tier but great for older customers
The bottom line is: this service has some good food. While it isn't our favorite shopping experience and doesn't have some of the bells and whistles (like organic food) from some of the top-rated services, it's still not too shabby. While we wish Top Chef Meals would update the user interface and the array of Keto-friendly options, it does offer a unique place to get full meals for seniors and kids. Balancing the positives and the site-wide problems we award Top Chef Meals a solid rating in this review as a true middle-ground service that may be particularly helpful for older customers.
In 2011, a group of friends in Washington D.C. embarked on a quest for flavorful, nourishing meals to sustain their hectic lives, and Territory was born. Today, Territory collaborates with chefs across the country to send thousands of ready-to-eat meals, grounded in science-backed nutrition, to customers in 27 states.
Streamline your eating habits
Territory was designed to streamline your habits of eating well and staying active. Their team of nutrition advisors, with their unique perspectives, advanced training, and real-world know-how, helps keep the Territory meals and menus up to spec for your nutritious lifestyle. Unlike services that churn out meals from massive central commissaries, Territory has independent chefs operating in their own fully certified, local commercial kitchens, so your meals never travel far from their stoves to your table.
Service Overview:
Only one plan: mix-and-match
The meal kit system from Territory embraces a mix-and-match approach. Rather than limiting yourself to a single box type, you have the flexibility to choose from all foods by narrowing down the type of diet you want to follow. Basically, you get 8 meals to pick from, and you can choose from any of the meals on the site. With helpful filters, you can narrow down the Keto options or check out any of the other diet styles offered by Territory.
Availability is based on your location
However, there's one drawback: the availability of meals is based on your location. For example, in our local zip code, there were only 4 meals for the week that were Keto-friendly. While you could fill up your whole box with two of each, it does limit your meals a bit. Further, when you first get to the selection page, Territory will pre-select meals for you, so you may need to edit your cart to take out anything not listed on the Keto page. Another strange snag is that Territory auto-selects 8 meals for you. You can choose between 6, 8, 10, and 12 meals per week, but it's a little confusing when you see 8 meals already in your cart. The cart will also give you a red notification if you remove items and don't settle up on one of the four acceptable quantities.
Complex pricing style is a la carte
Now, the pricing with Territory is also pretty complicated. The pricing is a la carte style with each meal costing a different amount (usually within the realm of $14-$17). So, since you're required to buy a minimum of 6 meals, we'll start the price point there. If you choose only the cheapest Keto meal (Lemon Garlic Chicken for $15.99) six times, the lowest you will pay is $95.94 per week. Now, if you go the other way and pick only the most expensive meals ($16.99 for the other three selections in the Keto menu) and choose the maximum quantity of 12 meals, you'll be looking at a price of $203.88 per week.
Satisfaction guarantee and refund policy are good
Despite the complexity of the pricing and ordering process, Territory has one solid silver lining: a satisfaction guarantee. According to the Territory policy, if you're not satisfied with any of your meals or the Territory service for any reason, they will provide you with a refund. There is no date limitation listed in the policy, though we imagine the sooner you contact their customer service, the better. But this was a particularly bright spot in an otherwise complex site experience.
Mixed messages with reviews
The reputation of Territory is where it falls apart a little. The company holds a concerning "NR” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and while it is pretty popular with food bloggers, the verified reviews aren't as uplifting. According to reviewers on Trustpilot, Territory scores an average of 3.2 stars out of 5. This mid-tier rating is because reviews for Territory are split right down the middle between 5-star ratings and 1-star ratings. Customers who loved it praised the food quality and flavor. Those who weren't as impressed were frustrated with how the site was set up and how confusing the process was to get the meals they wanted.
Too complex to be competitive right now
The bottom line? Territory has some tasty treats, but it comes with a pretty steep learning curve. While you can get just Keto foods in your meal shipments, the options are pretty limited, and it's hard to figure out how to add and subtract items from your cart without a lot of trial and error. The satisfaction guarantee is a bonus, but the company doesn't have a very impressive reputation overall. Considering all the concerns and problems we ran into, and some of the complaints from customers, it might be better to go with a Keto Meal Delivery option that's a bit easier to sign up with. However, if Territory spent some time simplifying its user interface, it has the potential to be extremely popular in the future.
Eat Clean's ethos is that the company is here to support hard-working Americans who might struggle to fuel their bodies properly. In business since 2014, the Eat Clean healthy meal delivery services cover up to 48 states (in the contiguous US), so you can get access to fresh and well-balanced meals delivered right to your doorstep.
Over 500 meal options
With over 500 meal options, the Eat Clean service provides a wide variety of nutritious and delicious choices that rival home-cooked meals. You get to choose your meals and set a schedule that works for you. Eat Clean meals are ready to eat in just 2 minutes, and you can skip a week or cancel anytime. But one big snag stands out: they don't let you customize anything or accommodate allergies, so if you have food sensitivities or allergies of any kind, you'll want to pick another option from our list.
Service Overview:
Basic plan: Traditional
For the Traditional plan (and all other plans), there are four pricing tiers, offering options for 6, 10, 12, and 14 meals per week. Basically, you're limited to 1-2 meals per day, and the Traditional plan is one of the few that offers breakfasts. Starting at $12.58 per meal or $75.48 per week, the 6-meal program is the most affordable, while the 14-meal program, the priciest, costs $9.60 per meal or $134.40 per week. However, compared to other services in this review, the menu seems to lack variety. The website showcases only a handful of sample meals, leaving uncertainty about whether these are the sole offerings or just a preview.
Sample Traditional meals
Some of the traditional featured meals include:
Best Keto plan: Keto
Like with the Traditional plan, there are four different pricing tiers for the Keto plan. You can choose from 6, 10, 12, and 14 meals per week. And this breakdown is exactly the same no matter whether you choose Traditional, Plant-based, or Keto. This means like the other plans from this site, you can only get up to 1-2 meals per day. The only difference with Keto is that it appears none of the meals appear to include breakfasts of any kind. The 6-meal program starts at $12.58 per meal or $75.48 per week. The most expensive option, the 14-meal program, costs $9.60 per meal or $134.40 per week.
Sample Keto meals
The menu is pretty limited compared to other services in our review, with details missing about calories and other key numbers for your health. There were only a few sample meals available on the site. It's not clear if these are the only meals sold or if it's just a preview. These meals include:
No guarantee or refund policy
Unfortunately, there are no details at all about shipping policies, return policies, or potential refunds. Since Eat Clean also doesn't offer a trial period, this could be a pretty expensive "test” run if you don't end up liking the meals. While you can try out a smaller package the first time, the minimum cost is still $75.48, and you'll have to remember to cancel or pause your membership if you want to change that. All in all, it isn't the most customer-friendly business model.
Mixed reviews and mid-tier ratings
Eat Clean has a pretty mid-tier reputation. According to the Better Business Bureau, the company has a solid, but not great, "B” rating. And when we matched that up with the customer reviews, it wasn't terribly impressive. The average rating for Eat Clean across different review sites was 3.5 stars. Recent reviews have been getting worse over time complaining about late shipments (and spoiled food) as well as some customers fuming about being charged for food they never received. On the flip side, customers who loved this company said that the food tasted amazing and that it was one of their favorites in terms of flavor. So, depending on what's most important to you, it might be worth checking out Eat Clean, but keep in mind some of the concerns before you commit.
Mid-tier service doesn't wow
Given what we saw from the reviews, it's clear that Eat Clean is definitely a mid-tier service. With only 1 plan for Keto and no plans that offer 3 full meals a day, it's definitely not as competitive as some of the top Keto Meal Delivery options out there. Plus, with zero customization, you can't accommodate different tastes or allergies like you can with other companies. Considering a "meh” rating of "B” from the BBB and mixed reviews, Eat Clean earns a below-average review here.
Founded in 2013, Home Chef had a simple goal: to provide everything you need to bring more delicious meals and moments to your table. Each week, you can choose from over 30 meals and 18 Extras designed to feed families of 2-6 people.
Pre-portioned insulated ingredients
Home Chef delivers pre-portioned ingredients to your door in an insulated box to keep everything fresh. This way you can get everything you need to cook Keto-friendly meals at home without the hassle of shopping or portioning out the items yourself. Plus, if you're always on the go, try the Home Chef mobile app to plan your meals from the comfort of your phone. You even have the option to pick your meals or buy in-store since Home Chef is part of the Kroger family. The only downside to this program is that to even see prices you have to submit your email and agree to get promotional material, which is a little frustrating and might turn away some customers who prefer to know the details before they register.
Service Overview:
Only one plan: mix-and-match
The meal kit system on Home Chef follows a mix-and-match approach. Instead of confining yourself to a single box type, you have the flexibility to select from all foods by narrowing down the type of diet you want to adhere to. There are five "preferences" to consider (Calorie counting, Carb-counting, Vegetarian, Gluten-Smart, Keto-friendly), and you can choose one or all of these dietary preferences to add new meals to your weekly kit.
Basic Keto box
Focusing on the Basic plan, we'll explore the pricing specifically for the Keto box (without selecting other preferences). However, if you add extra preferences, like Vegetarian or gluten-free, it won't change your price. So, you don't have to worry about extra costs to follow your dietary needs. You also can choose between 2 to 6 meals per week, allowing for 1 meal per day that feeds 2-6 people (depending on your preference). If you don't mind leftovers, a single person could eat for 4-12 days by splitting meals in half or up to 36 days if you don't mind freezing your meals. The starting cost for the Keto-only plan is $55.96 per week for the 2-meal plan for 2 people, and the highest cost is $431.64 per week for the 6-meal option serving 6 people with each meal. Keep in mind there is also a flat fee of $10.99 for shipping on every box.
Refunds for orders under $100
During our research, we were pleasantly surprised to discover that Home Chef does have a refund policy. Upon accepting delivery of a product from Home Chef, if you find the product is not 100% satisfactory (due to defects or other reasons), you can request a Home Chef credit as a refund. This is a full refund in most cases and you just need to request help from the company's support team within seven days of delivery. It is worth noting that receiving credit on your account or a full refund equal to the entire product's value isn't available on orders exceeding $100. So, if you're worried about trying out the kits, and hoping for a refund, you may want to start with a smaller portion size the first time so it will be eligible for the refund policy.
Low scores for flavor and reliability
Despite Home Chef's 10+ years in the industry, it doesn't have a stellar reputation. According to the Better Business Bureau, Home Chef has a concerning "NR” rating. On top of that, the company only holds a low 2.8-star average rating from verified third-party review sites. Most of the complaints about Home Chef are about the food. Most customers agree that the flavors are bland and taste like foods out of a grocery store's frozen section. Other customers complained about a lack of customer support. And a ton of reviews (with pictures) showed that foods that came in the mail split open or leaked, which made them impossible to eat and a huge problem to clean up.
Too expensive for all the red flags
While we were briefly impressed by the inclusion of a return policy, there aren't many other positives for Home Chef. This is one of the most expensive options in our review, and with tons of complaints about food quality and shipping problems, it just doesn't seem worth the money. With an "NR” rating from the BBB, we're seeing a lot of red flags from this particular Keto Meal Delivery program. Since other companies out there offer family meals and meals you can cook yourself, even those features don't help the company stand out from its poor reputation.
Bistro MD is a solid spot for easy meals. The company has been around since 2005, offering meal plans that fit your taste and dietary restrictions.
5 minute meal prep
Imagine having over 150 chef-prepared meals every week, ready to go in just 5 minutes. Whether you're into healthy eating, need something diabetes-friendly, gluten-free, or perfect for navigating menopause while shedding those pounds, they've got options for you. And don't forget to spice things up with their EATS (Essential and Tasty Snacks) to boost your weight loss game. It's like having a personal chef without a fancy price tag.
Service Overview:
Basic plan: Signature Program
The basic and most popular program at Bistro MD is the Signature Program. You can choose between a 5-day shipment or a 7-day shipment with the option for 3 meals a day or just lunches and dinners included. The prices for this range from $149.90 per week ($14.99 per meal) for a 5-day lunch and dinner plan to $219.80 per week ($10.99 per meal) for a 7-day-a-week, 3-meal-a-day plan. The average meal on this plan is around 290 calories with 30 grams of protein.

With the Signature program, you can expect to see meals like:
Best Keto plan: Keto Flex Program
The more advanced Keto program at Bistro MD is the Keto Flex program. This offers a program that is said to be more sustainable for hardcore Keto enthusiasts. And there's a bonus: the price for this program is exactly the same as the Signature. So, you can expect to pay $149.90 per week ($14.99 per meal) for a 5-day lunch and dinner plan to $219.80 per week ($10.99 per meal) for a 7-day a week 3-meal-a-day plan. However, when we sifted through the meal options for the Keto Flex Program, there wasn't any difference in the meals. So, it's unclear how Bistro MD suggests that this plan is easier to stick to long-term than the signature plan (which has the same meals and the same cost). And, to see how the other programs stacked up, we checked those too and all of them were the same price.
No return or refund policy
Another place Bistro MD didn't stand out was its guarantee or refund policy. The program is based on an automatic subscription, so if you want to stop you'll have to go in and cancel yourself. In terms of shipment, all the meals are made fresh then flash-frozen, and kept chilly with eco-friendly packaging and dry ice. However, if something goes wrong with an order, or if you don't like the program, there aren't any clear statements about what Bistro MD is willing to do to help. The company promises that its customer service team is ready to help you out, but there's no mention of refunds or re-shipments. Considering that Bistro MD doesn't have a trial period to test out its food, this is a little worrisome.
Missed the mark with customers
Once we get to the reviews and ratings, it becomes a little more clear why Bistro MD might be lacking transparency with their refund and return policies. According to the Better Business Bureau, Bistro MD has an abysmal "F” rating. There were 41 different customer complaints lodged at the time of our review. While the reviews on third-party sites are a little better than an "F” rating with an average score of 3 stars across different third-party sites, the overall feeling is that customers have mixed emotions about Bistro MD. One reviewer called the experience "mundane” with no real praise for the flavor of the food or the cooking experience. Others complain heavily about the customer service, feeling like when things do go wrong with food or shipment it's impossible to get a hold of a representative to resolve the problems.
Just isn't up to snuff
At the end of the day, there are a decent number of red flags at Bistro MD as well as some features that are just plain confusing. For example, the fact that all of the programs are the same price, but they're said to be easier or harder to keep to (despite having mostly the same meals) was very confusing. And then considering the "F” rating, we could tell right away that Bistro MD wasn't going to be a top competitor. Finally, given that customers didn't like the taste or experience of the foot itself, Bistro MD fell to the bottom of the list - because if you're not going to enjoy eating your Keto meals, you might as well just make your own.
