Success in lacrosse hinges not only on dedication and passion but also on the quality of equipment that players use. That may help explain why online shopping for lacrosse equipment has become immensely popular. A well-crafted lacrosse stick, protective gear, reliable footwear, and performance-enhancing apparel can significantly elevate a player's confidence and abilities on the field.
One of the primary reasons for the popularity of online shopping for lacrosse gear is the unparalleled convenience it offers. Instead of physically visiting multiple stores in search of the right equipment, you can simply browse through various online retailers from the comfort of your home. This eliminates the need for time-consuming trips to brick-and-mortar stores and lets you shop at any time that suits your schedule, whether it's early in the morning or late at night.
Saturday, January 18th
Lacrosse Unlimited was created by the DeSimone Family, who are avid players and longtime fans of the sport. Focusing on a gap in the market for high-quality customizable lacrosse gear, they opened their first lacrosse-only store in Hauppauge, New York in November 1990. People quickly learned about Lacrosse Unlimited's exceptional customer service, unique custom-dyed and strung lacrosse heads, and extensive selection of equipment and apparel. They have a mission to become the most recognized name in lacrosse globally.
Sporty site with custom designs
Lacrosse Unlimited is a user-friendly online platform that makes shopping for lacrosse gear a breeze. With its intuitive layout, sporty design interface, clear categories, and effective search function, finding what you need is easy. They offer a wide range of products, including gear for both men and women, apparel, footwear, field and training equipment, and items from specific brands and collegiate teams. While they might not have the largest product variety in each category, Lacrosse Unlimited focuses on offering fully custom items to make sure that lacrosse players have something that really reflects their personalities.
Prices are competitive even for custom
The pricing at Lacrosse Unlimited is super straightforward and competitive. To compare Lacrosse Unlimited with other retailers in our review, we looked at the same three items at all stores: full sticks, helmets, and gloves across all genders. At Lacrosse Unlimited, the company has 83 sticks for sale with a price range from $17.99 to $284.99. For the helmets, there are 46+ different products available including ones that are fully customizable. The price range across all genders and ages is from $199.99 to $349.99. For gloves, Lacrosse Unlimited has 30 pairs of gloves in stock with price ranges from $25 to $209.99. Compared to other companies, these prices are right in the range of some of the top competitors, which is amazing for a site that specializes in fully custom items.
Customize your gear just for you
While the site does offer pre-made items, Lacrosse Unlimited's real showstopper is their custom designer. For items like the Cascade XR Pro Lacrosse Helmet, you can hop into a virtual designer and hand-pick colors for pretty much every aspect of your helmet - with options like metallic colors, unique chin strap styles, and a color choice for every element on the helmet from the grill to the XR badge. This does increase the price significantly (with the Cascade XR Pro starting at $329.99 and going up as high as $411.96 with the modifications we tried), but it creates a unique product and experience that you won't find at other retailers.
Free shipping on $75+
Lacrosse Unlimited goes the extra mile by extending free shipping for orders exceeding $75, a threshold that is convenient to reach given how expensive many items are by themselves. Further, if you're looking to buy a bunch of new gear at once, you're almost guaranteed free shipping. Considering the unique inventory they offer, this free shipping perk enhances the overall value proposition for customers.
Returns within 30-days
Lacrosse Unlimited offers a customer-friendly return policy that allows for 30 days to initiate the return, and this window is extended to 60 days during holidays. While items must be unused and in their original condition, customers can expect a full refund for their returns. Even after this initial period, Lacrosse Unlimited maintains its customer-oriented approach by providing a store credit or online gift card for returned items. The only downside? There is a return shipping fee of $9.95, except in cases where the return is due to Lacrosse Unlimited's error, in which case they cover the return shipping cost.
Top rated by the BBB
Lacrosse Unlimited has an impressive "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, which speaks to its outstanding reputation for customer service. While third-party reviews are scarce on third-party sites, the company does have a solid 4.4 stars out of 5 on Facebook where the company has earned hundreds of reviews from happy customers. While this isn't as impressive as reviews on verified sites like Trustpilot, it's a good sign that customers are happy to show their appreciation for the customer service and quality of the items at Lacrosse Unlimited.
Top option for lacrosse gear + custom items
Lacrosse Unlimited sets itself apart with its user-friendly interface and its exceptional offerings for personalized lacrosse gear. When it comes to getting something completely customized, Lacrosse Unlimited stands out as the go-to destination. With a dedication to providing high-quality equipment and attractive perks like free shipping and accommodating return policies, it's definitely a choice to keep in mind. The praise received from both customers and staff reinforces the brand's reliability, making it a no-brainer to put Lacrosse Unlimited as the top option for lacrosse equipment on our list.
Lacrosse Monkey is part of MonkeySports Inc., and it's a popular store for sports gear that's been around since 1999. They don't just focus on lacrosse - they also have gear for hockey, softball, and baseball, so they cover a bunch of different sports. One cool thing they do is run a blog called "Pro Tips," where they share the latest info about gear and the sport. It's a way for lacrosse fans to stay in the loop about what's happening in the sport and with new and exciting gear.
Large inventory and user-friendly browsing
Lacrosse Monkey excels in offering an extensive range of lacrosse gear, standing out with its wide selection of equipment. On top of that, the website interface is both user-friendly and professional, making it easy for customers to explore the various options available. Even though there might be a lot of pictures on the site, it doesn't make it hard to find what you're looking for - in fact, it's quite simple. Lacrosse Monkey provides detailed gear guides that help you pick the right size and gear that suits your needs.
Amazing range and competitive costs
Lacrosse Monkey hosts an enormous inventory. From every size and style to various types of lacrosse equipment, they have it all covered. In order to accurately compare the pricing at Lacrosse Monkey to other lacrosse equipment retailers, we decided to check out the pricing for three key items: complete sticks, gloves, and helmets. For sticks, Lacrosse Monkey offers 149 different complete lacrosse sticks with prices ranging from $49.98 to $299.99. For gloves, Lacrosse Monkey offers 40 different styles that range from $24.98 to $199.99. Finally, for lacrosse helmets, this retailer offers 37 products with prices from $109.98 to $389.99 which includes masks that are customizable.
Price match guarantee
Lacrosse Monkey has a competitive price match guarantee. Basically, if you come across a lower price from an authorized online retailer, Lacrosse Monkey will match it. Keep in mind, some criteria need to be met to ensure the price match goes through. For example, the item should be available on both the competitor's website and Lacrosse Monkey when the price match request is made and during the verification process. Also, it's important that the competitor is an authorized online retailer for the particular item, and they must directly sell and fulfill the item for you to qualify for the price match.
1-year return window
Lacrosse Monkey offers an impressive return policy. You can easily return new and unused items within an entire year from the date of purchase, which is one of the longest return windows among retailers on our list. However, it's worth mentioning that there isn't a return policy mentioned for items that have been opened or used. So, if you're thinking about making a return, just make sure your items are in like-new condition and keep the original packaging. With this generous 365-day timeframe, Lacrosse Monkey becomes an excellent choice for planning ahead and purchasing lacrosse gifts.
Popular with the BBB
During our research, we found that Lacrosse Monkey is owned by MonkeySports Inc. As this is the parent company for several "monkey” retailers, this is the company that has a page on the Better Business Bureau. Given all the benefits of shopping here, we weren't surprised to see that MonkeySports Inc. holds an "A+” rating from the BBB. It is worth noting that Lacrosse Monkey doesn't have a lot of third-party reviews out there. So, if you're looking for customer feedback about this retailer, it's harder to find than some of the others we checked out.
Lacrosse Monkey comes in second
Lacrosse Monkey stands out as a top-notch destination for customers who are new to lacrosse as well as experienced players. The retailer not only provides high-quality lacrosse gear but also presents chances to secure impressive bargains, coupled with extended return options and price matching. With their user-friendly website and a wide selection of products, Lacrosse Monkey easily deserves the second position on our list as a trustworthy equipment store with affordable prices across the board.
Situated in sunny Sacramento, California, Lacrosse Fanatic has been a family-owned gem since its establishment in 2004. Their passion for lacrosse shines through in the competitive array of gear and apparel they offer, catering to players of all skill levels. The team at Lacrosse Fanatic includes both current and former lacrosse players and coaches, so you know you're getting advice from the pros. Plus, they've even got private team sites where you can snag specially curated gear at discounted prices for your entire team - talk about a win-win.
Average inventory and easy browsing
While the number of items in the lacrosse inventory at Lacrosse Fanatic is about average, the site does offer a range of clothing items and extras on top of the general lacrosse gear- so you can buy for the athletes and the fans all in one place. The on-site browsing is also a breeze. The company separates out its products by gender and function, so it's easy to use the drop-down menus and find what you need. While there is a lot of text to read through, the clean color scheme and modern design of the site help customers get from point A to point B with no trouble at all.
Fair prices, but fewer items
To make a fair comparison between Lacrosse Fanatic's prices and those of other lacrosse equipment retailers, we chose to assess the costs of three essential items: full sticks, gloves, and helmets. For the full sticks, between the men's and women's inventory there are 76 products available with prices ranging from $29.99 to $299.99. For helmets, there are only 33 products at Lacrosse Fanatic, and the prices range from $119.99 to $399.99. Finally, the gloves for both genders include 24 products with prices ranging from $19.99 to $189.99. Overall, there are noticeably fewer items in the Lacrosse Fanatic inventory than at other top-rated retailers we evaluated, but the items remain competitive and high quality.
Rewards with Lax Bucks
One standout feature of Lacrosse Fanatic is its rewards program. By earning 1 Lax Buck for each dollar spent, you can quickly earn rewards that turn into direct discounts for your purchases. Once you hit 150 Lax Bucks, you can exchange them for a $15 savings on your next order.
Returns within 60 days
In terms of a return policy, there are two ways you can send back your purchases to Lacrosse Fanatic. First, you can return unwanted items if the product is unused and in the original packaging. Unfortunately, Lacrosse Fanatic won't cover the cost of return shipping. On the other hand, if you have an item that is defective or incorrect, you will receive a shipping label from the company to cover return shipping. However, the item must still be unused and in the original packaging. Any and all returns are valid within 60 days of your purchase.
Top ratings from reviewers
While Lacrosse Fanatic doesn't have any presence on the BBB, the company's verified third-party reviews are pretty impressive. With a 4.8-star average out of 5 stars, Lacrosse Fanatic is definitely a winner with fans. Customers have written about the stellar customer service they received from Lacrosse Fanatic, and multiple reviews praised the high quality of the custom items ordered. So, despite lower inventory than some options, it's clear that customers are on board with Lacrosse Fanatic.
Rave reviews make this a top retailer
While the fewer total options in the inventory did bring down Lacrosse Fanatic's score a bit, the company is still a standout retailer of lacrosse equipment. They have competitive gear selections as well as a solid 60-day return policy. With a rewards program and rave reviews from customers who've enjoyed buying from Lacrosse Fanatic, it's clear that there's plenty to look forward to if you buy your lacrosse gear here. So hop on over and check them out.
Sport Stop stands as a proud destination for lacrosse and field hockey lovers, boasting an array of products: from essential gear like balls and nets to wearable equipment, they've got you covered. As a family-owned business with a history dating back to 2001, Sport Stop promises high-quality gear and attentive customer service. Their selection not only includes lacrosse equipment but also a detailed guide encompassing the latest gear updates, game basics, rules, size recommendations, and more.
Lots of inventory
At Sport Stop, they offer renowned brands such as Under Armour, STX, Nike, Epoch, and more, all at accessible prices. Their product range encompasses heads, shafts, sticks, bags, protective gear, stringing equipment, and accessories for both men and women in the lacrosse community. However, the user interface leaves something to be desired.
User interface needs some work
All of the items are separated into Men's and Women's, and there are tons of filters - just not basic ones once you get into the full inventory. For example, you can filter by price, brand, gender, experience with the game, and position on the field, but there aren't any direct filters for "sticks”, "masks”, or "gloves” leaving customers to sift through the huge scrolling list of gear items. In order to find specific items, you have to click on the men's or women's tab and navigate from a separate window through masks or sticks. It's just a little clunky for a site that's otherwise highly competitive.
Good selection of sticks, but missing key items
While we usually compare the pricing at different retailers by looking at sticks, masks, and gloves, there are a few items notably missing at Sports Shop. There are no gloves at all listed in their inventory, and women's gear doesn't include masks at all. So, for this review, we'll compare the pricing of just sticks (for both genders) and masks (for men only). Across both genders, there are 10+ pages of sticks for sale at Sport Stop with tons of options to choose from. The prices range from $49.99 to $269.99. For masks, there are 24 different items available with prices from $100 to $440.
Free shipping on orders $49+
One of the notable highlights is the low free shipping threshold at Sport Stop. For orders over $49, you can expect totally free shipping. Given how much even basic items cost for lacrosse gear, you can expect to get free shipping on almost any order that has a stick or mask in it. Plus, this minimum for free shipping is noticeably lower compared to many other competitors, which often set it at $75 or higher.
"Test drive” gear for 45 days
Sport Stop stands out with a customer-focused initiative that lets athletes practically "test drive" their gear. This unique approach allows you to buy items like lacrosse gloves, shafts, and heads, providing you with a generous 45-day window to evaluate their effectiveness. If the gear doesn't meet expectations, it can be returned for store credit. On top of that, returns within 30 days of your original purchase in a like-new condition will qualify for full refunds. However, keep in mind that items not meeting this criteria are subject to a 20% fee.
Mixed reviews make their reputation unclear
In terms of Sport Stop's reputation, their customer-oriented approach has earned them an impressive "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. However, in looking at the verified third-party reviews, it's clear that Sport Stop may have fallen in reputation recently. The company has mixed reviews across different sites with a middle-range score of 3 stars on average across all the websites. While most customers seem to agree that the quality and variety are solid at Sport Stop, others complained about the slow shipping and difficulty with items that weren't branded by Sport Shop itself.
Best if you want to try before you buy
With retailers out there that clearly have high ratings and support from the BBB, Sport Stop falls short of our top few in comparison. Since this retailer is also missing some key products, it just doesn't stand out as much as it could. However, if you need a place to shop where you can try out the gear (and take it out of the packaging) Sport Shop is the place for you. So despite its middle-range rating in this review, definitely check it out if even for that one feature.
For nearly forty years, DICK'S Sporting Goods has been a renowned destination for fitness and sports enthusiasts, offering a diverse selection of products. The company's roots trace back to the ambitious journey of an 18-year-old named Dick Stack, who transformed a small Army surplus store in New York into a huge sporting goods brand. With a commitment to empowering athletes of all skill levels, DICK'S Sporting Goods extends its reach through physical stores, an online platform, and a mobile app. Its wide array of sports gear includes indoor equipment, outdoor equipment, and, of course, lacrosse essentials.
Solid site but could be more intuitive
DICK'S Sporting Goods' stands out as a one-stop shop with tons of sports gear, catering to a wide array of athletic interests. Basically you can find what you need for any sport at DICK'S. While the site is a good experience overall, it could be a little more intuitive. For example, adding a distinct button dedicated to lacrosse on the landing page would be beneficial. The lacrosse section is currently under the sports tab and since the links aren't oriented in alphabetical order, it can take some time to find the correct section of the site if you don't already know where to look.
Middle-range company for prices and inventory
To accurately compare prices at DICK'S Sporting Goods, we examined DICK'S offerings for three essential lacrosse products: complete sticks, masks, and gloves. DICK'S has 126 items in the sticks section of the website. The prices range from $39.99- $319.99. For masks, DICK'S has 12 different options. The prices include kids' masks and range from $119.99 to $329.99. Finally, for gloves, there are 30 different products at DICK's Sporting Goods. The prices range from $24.99 to $199.99. For a powerhouse store like DICK'S, we were surprised they didn't have more inventory for lacrosse. In general, the site is mid-range both in inventory and pricing.
90-day returns online
DICK'S Sporting Goods offers an extended 90-day timeframe for returns with a valid proof of purchase. Items bought from DICK'S Sporting Goods Warehouse locations are subject to a 45-day return period. In instances where proof of purchase is absent, store credit will be issued, calculated based on the lowest selling price. But, if you're looking for a place that lets you try gear before you return, DICK'S will accept returns that are not "like-new" for full refunds and store credit.
Price match guarantee available
DICK'S Sporting Goods offers a price match guarantee to be sure you get the best deal possible. If you discover an identical product being sold at a lower price by another retailer, DICK'S customer service will price match the item upon request. It's important that the product being matched is an exact match in terms of brand, model number, color, and size, and that it's available at an eligible store or website.
Low scores from customers
While DICK'S Sporting Goods offers tons of lacrosse gear and a website that's relatively easy to navigate, we have reservations about the company as a whole. When we researched DICK'S reputation, their low score from the Better Business Bureau and with reviewers both raised some red flags. DICK'S holds an unfortunate "F" rating from the BBB, and the negative feedback, often resulting in 1-star ratings, highlights issues such as steep shipping fees and a convoluted return procedure, casting doubt on the overall shopping experience with the company.
Ideal for try-ons and in-person shopping
It is disheartening to see problems like "F” ratings from the BBB with a well-known company that has a large number of physical stores. Considering these concerns, we can't rate DICK'S higher than 3 stars total. However, if you prefer the convenience of having an in-person store to back up your online order, you might still want to explore DICK'S Sporting Goods - it makes for a great place to try masks and sticks especially if you've got a brand-new lacrosse player.
LAX is a lacrosse equipment provider established in 2000. They're all about serving athletes and they offer a competitive range of gear like goggles, gloves, sticks, and more. Quick deliveries, a friendly return policy, and a best price guarantee add to their appeal. While they might not have the biggest selection, LAX focuses on affordable solutions for the essentials they offer.
Clean interface made for simplicity
LAX's ethos is unmistakably customer-oriented. The design of the site backs up the company's claims with a clean site and amazing user interface. While their product selection might not rival that of some competitors in terms of sheer volume, the site is easy to navigate, and you can find everything you need at a glance. With clean photos and upfront brand lists, the basics of lacrosse gear are all visible at a glance.
Competitive pricing, but low inventory
While the selection at LAX is a little slim compared to other retailers we evaluated, it still has all the basics. So, to compare the pricing at LAX to its competitors we checked out the same three items: complete sticks, helmets, and gloves. For sticks, there are a total of 48 products available at LAX, which is significantly fewer than at competitors. The prices range from $27.99 to $299.99. For helmets, LAX offers 19 different options across men's and women's and the prices range from $119.99 to $389.99. Finally, the LAX selection of gloves includes 47 items, which is competitive with the selection at other retailers. The prices range from $24.99 to $209.99.
Price match plus 10% off
LAX offers a generous best price guarantee. In the event that customers spot an identical product offered by LAX through a competing retailer, LAX not only matches the price but also further reduces it by 10%. While other price matches just lower their price to match the competition, LAX takes it one step further, which helps them stand out a bit from the pack.
Returns within 30 days
Returning products is a breeze here, especially if they're new and unused. Just make sure they're in their original packaging with the tags still attached. If the returned item can't be resold as new, they'll send it back to you. You've got 30 days to make the return for a full refund. If it's past 30 days, they'll give you a gift certificate instead. And here's a bonus - if you choose the gift certificate route, they'll even add 10% to its value.
LAX Rewards program
The LAX Rewards Point Program is a standout feature that lets you gather points as you shop, and these points can be used to save on your future purchases. Every dollar you spend at LAX gets you 1 LAX reward point. When you're browsing the website, you'll easily spot how many points you need to snag specific items for free.
Mixed reviews for LAX
Unfortunately, in terms of reputation, LAX isn't a competitor. The company only holds a "C+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. Plus, the reviews from third-party sites are mixed with some sites showing a 1-star average and others as high as 4 stars. Customers left a range of complaints including low-quality equipment, long shipping times, and difficulty getting a hold of customer service. On the other hand, customers who liked the company praised the quality of the items and the opportunities for savings. So, it's hard to say one way or the other, but a spate of 1-star reviews definitely raises red flags.
Worth it mostly for their 10% price matching
The bottom line? It might be better to check out a different option before you shop with LAX. While they have good incentives with their rewards program, the company's narrower inventory, mixed reviews, and low BBB rating all raise some concerns about the company's overall quality. Basically, it's not going to be a go-to spot for lacrosse gear any time soon, but if you want to try and find a deal, their price match guarantee might make it worth browsing.
Since its establishment in 2011, Universal Lacrosse has quickly become a prominent player in the lacrosse retail scene, making a mark as an online hub for lacrosse equipment. Although it's a relatively young brand, Universal Lacrosse's commitment to offering lacrosse enthusiasts an extensive array of gear shines through. With a focus on meeting the needs of athletes across the board, the brand continues to gather attention and appreciation from the lacrosse community. However, in recent months the company has lost some steam as well as some of its reputation.
Clean site, but low inventory
Using Universal Lacrosse is super easy. The company has a clean interface and tons of filters to help customers find what they need. There's even a selection that allows you to pick only items that are in stock while shopping. This is particularly useful, as during our research we found almost half of the items to be out of stock. Considering that the overall inventory at Universal Lacrosse was pretty low to begin with, this was a pretty disappointing find. We hope they will increase their inventory in the future.
Low inventory and mid-range prices
To compare Universal Lacrosse's prices with other retailers in our review, we checked out three staples of the sport: complete sticks, masks, and gloves. There are 62 full sticks in stock at Universal Lacrosse with the majority of these being for women. The prices range from $39.99 to $274.99. For masks, Universal Lacrosse only sells options for men. These include 10 total items that are in stock with prices from $139.99 to $339.99. Finally, for gloves, there are 47 items in stock with prices ranging from $14.99 to $199.99. Overall, the inventory is fairly limited and the prices don't stand out as particularly cheap compared to other competitors.
Price match with 10% bonus
Despite occasional items being out of stock, Universal Lacrosse tries to keep up with customer satisfaction by offering a price match guarantee. While it doesn't make up for the missing inventory, it does help customers feel more confident that the prices they pay are fair against competitors. When taking advantage of the Universal Lacrosse price match guarantee, you can also expect the company to add a 10% discount on top of the match.
Limited returns don't include shipping
Universal Lacrosse offers a 30-day window to initiate returns. The return policy covers items that are in their original condition and packaging. It's important to be aware that custom helmets and gloves might come with a 10% restocking fee upon return. Keep in mind that customers are also responsible for return and exchange shipping costs, so you may want to consider the extra costs before you commit, even with the return window.
Reputation has fallen recently
According to reviews and the Better Business Bureau, Universal Lacrosse has fallen in reputation recently. The company only has reviews on one third-party review site and the average star rating there is just 1 star out of 5. Further, Universal Lacrosse used to hold an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but the company now has an "NR” rating instead, which is very concerning. It might be safer to steer clear of this retailer for the time being.
Company has room to grow
Overall, Universal Lacrosse emerges as a good gear option, but not a great one. Especially considering the recent fall from an "A+” rating down to "NR”, we're a little skeptical about how trustworthy Universal Lacrosse is these days. To be on the safe side, we've rated it 2 stars overall, but it might be worth considering if they increase their inventory and bring up their BBB rating in the future.
Signature Lacrosse's story revolves around their strong commitment to athletes. Their mission is centered on empowering individuals through sportswear.
Extends Lacrosse to developing communities
Signature Lacrosse works to set itself apart as a brand that truly comprehends and connects with athletes' requirements. An embodiment of this commitment is the Signature Foundation, a nonprofit effort that extends lacrosse programs to developing communities globally. This reflects their belief in the sport's potential to drive positive transformation and progress.
Clean site, but bare-bones
Compared to other retailers that provide a one-stop shop approach, Signature Lacrosse focuses only on balls, sticks, and accessories, so you may not find everything you need at this retailer. The website is clean, but it feels a little basic. For example, even though there aren't a lot of products available on Signature Lacrosse, the shopping pages still feel like they're missing more in-depth filters. However, it's still fairly easy to find what you need, though with a heavy focus on balls and sticks, the company won't be ideal for customers looking for a full kit with gloves, helmets, and shoes.
Only 10 sticks available
While we normally compare the pricing for three key products at each retailer, we can't do that with Signature Lacrosse, as it's missing both masks and gloves. So, we'll just do a quick rundown of the stick prices at this retailer to show how it stacks up against the competition. There are exactly 10 complete sticks at Signature Lacrosse with prices ranging from $159.95 to $219.95. It's clear that the Signature Lacrosse inventory is extremely limited compared to other retailers. While its prices are still fairly competitive, it's just not the top spot to find inventory.
30-day limited returns
Signature Lacrosse provides customers with a 30-day timeframe to swap out unused sticks, heads, and mesh. Likewise, if you receive Custom Apparel items in the wrong size or with manufacturing defects, they can be exchanged. Unused balls, goals, and rebounders that have any manufacturing issues are able to be replaced at any time. However, after 30 days, you're on your own, and if the products don't have defects, many won't be eligible for returns at all.
No one is talking about Signature Lacrosse
In terms of reputation, we're at a bit of a loss with Signature Lacrosse. The company doesn't appear to have any presence on the Better Business Bureau. Further, when researching Signature Lacrosse, we also struggled to find any verified reviews on third-party sites. While the site has been reviewed by a handful of blogs, it's unclear if these are sponsored reviews or fully genuine feedback on the company. Unfortunately, potential customers are left to decide on their own, but without a BBB score to back it up, we recommend checking out a higher-rated service before going with Signature Lacrosse.
Doesn't stack up to expectations
While Signature Lacrosse promises a strong commitment to athletes their company doesn't quite stack up. As a retailer, Signature Lacrosse's focus on balls, sticks, and accessories means it might not cater to those seeking a comprehensive range of lacrosse gear. On top of that, Signature Lacrosse's lack of a BBB presence and verified reviews raises concerns about its reputation. Given these factors, we recommend you explore higher-rated options before committing to Signature Lacrosse.
With a strong presence in the industry spanning over two decades, The Lax Shack has been dedicated to serving customers since its establishment in 1998. Operating from its store located in Toronto, Canada, the company has carved a niche for itself by specializing in all things lacrosse. What sets The Lax Shack apart is its team of experts, comprising individuals with professional national and collegiate experience in playing the sport. However, when we dug into the site a little deeper, we weren't sure if this reputation was well-earned.
One-stop shop with out-of-date info
While the general areas of the site are unique and sporty, many areas of the site seem like it hasn't been updated lately. For example, the site notes that persons born in 1998 (the year the company opened) would be completing their last year of junior lacrosse, when those players would be well into their 20s and likely playing pro by now. This plus some other typos, broken links, and errors across the site caused us to raise our eyebrows during our research. On top of that concern, we noted that The Lax Shack doesn't have a ton of inventory, though it does have products for every element of lacrosse. So, while the company doesn't have everything, it still serves as a decent one-stop shop.
Low inventory and items out of stock
In order to compare the prices at The Lax Shack with other retailers we researched, we checked out the price ranges for complete sticks, masks, and gloves. For the sticks, there are just 11 items total and four of those were sold out at the time of this review. The prices range from $69.99 to $269.99. For masks, there are 15 items on the site and two of them were sold out. The prices range from $149.99 to $419.99. Finally, for gloves, The Lax Shack has 19 items total and five of them were sold out. The prices range from $39.99 to $269.99. The most disappointing trend we noticed was that every type of gear had a number of options that were sold out, which lessened the already limited inventory of lacrosse equipment at The Lax Shack.
30-day limited return window
The Lax Shack provides a 30-day window for customers to exchange unused or "like new gear.” The return requirements seem very limited compared to some of the other retailers in our review. Plus, if you buy anything custom, you can't return it for any reason.
No BBB page or reviews
There's no real buzz out there for The Lax Shack. On top of having no presence on the Better Business Bureau, the company also doesn't have any reviews on verified third-party review sites. The only feedback we could find during our research was a handful of reviews on Yelp that only gave The Lax Shack a 2.5-star average out of 5. In general, we'd note this lack of feedback as a possible red flag for the company's reliability overall.
Not a frontrunner for trustworthiness
With all the concerns about The Lax Shack, including out-of-date information and broken links on the website, missing reviews, and no BBB page, it might be safer to find another site to shop for your lacrosse must-haves. With tons of sites holding higher scores and more reliability reviews, we highly suggest checking out one of those before going with The Lax Shack.
Gladiator Lacrosse is an online retailer that opened in 2012. However, unlike other lacrosse equipment stores, Gladiator Lacrosse is a site more suited for lacrosse coaches or those looking to pick up practice equipment.
No sticks or helmets
Specializing in things like nets, balls, and carry bags, this site isn't going to be a go-to or a one-stop shop. The bottom line? No sticks or helmets here. While some customers like coaches might like the offerings at Gladiator Lacrosse, the company just doesn't stack up as a place to get a full range of gear. For this reason it's our lowest rated option overall, since it doesn't have many of the stable equipment items to even be competitive.
Slow site with low inventory
The inventory at Gladiator Lacrosse offers a relatively small selection of products, mainly focusing on items you'd need for setting up a practice field. Based on our research, this retailer seems specifically focused on customers who are lacrosse coaches or players looking to build a better home practice area. Because of this, Gladiator Lacrosse lacks many lacrosse equipment staples used for playing the game. It's worth noting that on top of its limited inventory, the website's performance is hindered by slow loading times. While the website's appearance is polished, the time it takes to navigate between pages is significantly lengthy, resulting in a slow and cumbersome shopping experience for most customers.
Huge price range from balls to nets
Usually, to compare the pricing to other lacrosse equipment retailers, we check out the pricing for three key items: complete sticks, gloves, and helmets. However, as Gladiator Lacrosse doesn't sell any of these items, we decided just to do a full price range for their inventory. There aren't a lot of items to buy here, so the prices are pretty easy to find even with the slow load times. The prices at Gladiator Lacrosse start as low as $8.99 for lacrosse balls and go as high as $1499.99 for a full lacrosse net.
No details on shipping
Information doesn't seem to be Gladiator Lacrosse's specialization. We dug through the whole site and FAQ and can't find any information about the shipping policies. We didn't see any notes that there's a free shipping threshold, so customers will need to expect an additional charge for shipping if they need nets and balls for lacrosse.
No returns allowed
Returns too are a huge disappointment here. Gladiator Lacrosse operates with a strict no-return, no-refund policy, finalizing all sales upon purchase. However, in cases of manufacturing errors, All Ball Pro, one of the brands sold by Gladiator Lacrosse, does offer a limited warranty on its products. But, the details on the warranties are scarce on the Gladiator Lacrosse website, which will be frustrating for customers.
No third-party reviews
It probably comes as no surprise (it didn't surprise us very much) that Gladiator Lacrosse doesn't have many verified reviews and the company doesn't have a page on the Better Business Bureau. The reviews that are out there are from other retailers who sell or distribute gear from Gladiator Lacrosse. These mostly focus on the quality of the items which is highly rated in the scant reviews available. However, in terms of customer service or reliability, there aren't any reviews for Gladiator Lacrosse at all.
Not worth the hassle
Honestly, unless you're a coach shopping only for nets and balls you'll want to check out a different retailer for your lacrosse gear. And even then, some of the higher-rated retailers also sell those items, so you might find a better deal somewhere else. Not only is Gladiator Lacrosse lacking as a one-stop shop, but the company doesn't have any great incentives like free shipping or even a return policy to bring customers in. Our advice? Keep searching for a lacrosse equipment retailer that's more focused on customer satisfaction (and one that has verified reviews to back up its reputation).
The wide variety of lacrosse stores available online is a significant factor in the popularity of virtual lacrosse equipment shopping. Online retailers typically offer a vast array of products, including different brands, styles, and price ranges. This variety lets you explore and compare numerous options in one place, making it easier for you to find the perfect gear that meets your specific preferences and requirements.
Another reason why people love shopping online for lacrosse equipment is the competitive pricing it offers. Many online retailers can offer lacrosse equipment at lower prices compared to physical stores. This is often attributed to lower overhead costs, as online businesses don't need to maintain large physical spaces or employ as many full time employees. As a result, you can benefit from cost savings without compromising on the quality of your lacrosse gear.
According to data from the Lacrosse Industry Council, approximately 2.2 million individuals actively engage in lacrosse, encompassing various age groups and skill levels. Whether playing at the youth level, competing in college tournaments, or participating in professional leagues, lacrosse offers a diverse range of opportunities to get involved.
