LiceLogic was created by a mom after a schoolyard lice outbreak infested her child's classroom. The goal was to make a non-toxic alternative to harsh formulas that were currently on the market. LiceLogic aims to be pet parent-approved and kid-friendly. The products from LiceLogic are all aimed at dealing with and preventing lice, including a shampoo, mousse, hair nit spray, all purpose household lice spray, lice comb, and prevention sprays. Their scents you can choose from are rosemary mint, peppermint, and lavender. LiceLogic boasts that they don't use any artificial fragrances in their products and they're all paraben- and phthalate-free.
Safe for ages 2+
LiceLogic's Clear and Free shampoo comes in an 8 oz bottle for $29.95 (qualifies for free shipping). It's approved for children over the age of 2 since it contains no pesticides and is gentle on the hair and scalp. The formula is plant-based and proven to kill lice and nits on contact. This is an effective prevention option even if you suspect that you or your child has been exposed to lice.
Use repeatedly until you're lice-free
There is no timeframe for which LiceLogic claims their product will kill all lice and nits. However, they say that the shampoo is safe for daily use and includes up to 16 uses per bottle, so we assume you may need to use this product quite a few times. The company says to use the shampoo until the lice infestation is completely gone and even up to 7 or 10 days after. If you have thick or long hair, it's likely that you'll need a couple of bottles of Clear and Free.
Simple, but time consuming
The application process for Clear and Free shampoo isn't difficult, but it does take a bit of time. First, you'll use the shampoo by massaging it all through your hair and scalp and let it sit for 15 minutes. Next, you'll comb through your hair to ensure full coverage and let it sit another 15 minutes. Lastly, it's suggested that you comb in all four directions and rinse hair thoroughly. Repeat as necessary.
Returns on new, unused shampoo
LiceLogic doesn't provide a guarantee on their shampoo, so the only reason you'll be able to return it for a refund is if it's in new, unused condition.
Most people are pleased
For the most part, we were glad to see that people felt that Clear and Free shampoo worked for them. However, reviews were slightly more mixed than we've seen from competing products. Some people said that even after following the directions rigidly for over a week, they were still finding lice. Others said after repeated use they were clear of lice and highly recommended the product. We wish there was at least a Better Business Bureau rating for the company and more solidly reassuring customer feedback.
How long will it take?
The main thing we weren't excited about with LiceLogic was that it seems like you have to use their product over and over again until it works. Waiting days or weeks to be lice-free seems like a long time. We wish they provided some sort of timeframe or guarantee for when customers can expect to be done using it. Because of this, we recommend using a higher-rated product before trying out LiceLogic's Clear and Free shampoo or other products.
No one wants to face the nuisance of having lice, but unfortunately it's a common problem, especially among kids. These pesky, tiny, six-legged insects cling to the scalp and neck to feed on human blood (rude, right?) and cause an estimated 6 - 12 million infestations yearly. Contracting lice has nothing to do with cleanliness or hygiene, but rather it spreads easily from person to person.
Lice can be picked up at school, during a sports activity, on a playground, at a friend's house, or anywhere that head-to-head contact might occur. You or your child might have lice if you're suffering from an itchy, irritated scalp. Scratching at the lice can cause infections, so it's important to take care of it as soon as possible.
Luckily, head lice is generally not dangerous and doesn't spread diseases, but it is extremely annoying and can take quite a bit of effort to get rid of. It will likely take at least a few days to eliminate the lice completely.
Aside from doing a deep clean of your house, bedding, towels, stuffed animals, clothing, and anything else that comes in contact with the lice, there are quite a few proven products that can be purchased over-the-counter to gently and effectively kick those nasty bugs to the curb. Although some people try to use natural remedies like vinegar, mayonnaise, or olive oil, they aren't as strong as products engineered to fight lice, and you may end up dealing with more lice nits (white lice eggs that attach to your hair) that hatch later on.
For best results, purchase a highly-rated product and apply it based on the included directions. Check your hair every 8-12 hours to monitor the reduction of active lice. You may need to switch products if it doesn't seem to be working. Expect to use multiple applications of the lice product to make sure that any newly-hatched lice are killed before they create a re-infestation that makes you have to restart the whole process. Try to be patient and know that although it may take some time, you can eliminate lice completely and get back to your normal routine.
