This store knows no limits when it comes to their selection of products and they're most recognized for their low prices. Not only are there over 4,500 locations throughout the United States, but Walmart has an expansive online store that includes far more than you'll find if you visit in person. From groceries to clothing to home decor to seasonal items, Walmart really seems to have it all.

A mind-boggling inventory

Since Walmart carries such a massive inventory of items, they have a lot of features on their website to make it easier to find what you want. There are over 1,000 results for luggage and this doesn't even include accessories, so there is a lot to sort through here. For starters, you can select the price range you want to stay within, brand, fulfillment speed, luggage type, luggage style, carry-on size, holding capacity, height, weight, casing, piece count, and customer ratings. Even if you set your preferences in all these categories, you'll probably still have a couple hundred options.

Fewer name-brand options

You'll find fewer name-brand pieces of luggage here than you might somewhere else. Walmart often gives a home to companies that are lesser-known, but still make a good product. For example, we didn't find any Samsonite suitcases here or Tumi, Delsey, TravelPro, or other names we've become familiar with. Rather there are brands like Protege, iFLY, Travelhouse, Tripcomp, Zimtown, Joyway, Wrangler, InUSA, and others that you may or may not recognize. Luckily there are plenty of customer ratings on these unfamiliar brands to help you feel confident that they make good, durable luggage that provides value.

Something for everyone

There is a great range of kids' luggage, individual pieces of luggage, and sets at Walmart. It really feels like the sky's the limit here. Luggage comes in all colors, with all types of features, and some have unique designs we haven't seen anywhere else. Depending on the set you choose, you'll find a lot that come with packing cubes, travel pillows, bags, or backpacks as a bonus, which is fun. Each product comes with a clear description of its features, lots of photos from all angles, customer reviews, suggestions for similar items, and shipping options.

Staggeringly low prices

Luggage starts at just $18.48 for a kids Protege carry-on suitcase with a "Soda Shop” theme. For only $19.96 you can get an 18” black Protege carry-on, which is a crazy deal. When we were shopping, Walmart showed that over 100 of this particular product had been purchased just the day before. For under $50 there was a long list of carry-on suitcase options, sometimes ones that even came with multiple pieces. What really blew our minds was finding that of the 25+ pages of luggage featured on Walmart's site, the most expensive ones were only $229. This was for a 3-piece iFLY hardside set that came in cotton candy colors. Just under this was a classy black 4-piece set for $215.99. Surely no one else can compete with these low prices for luggage.

Free shipping and easy returns

If you spend at least $35, you'll get free shipping from Walmart. Delivery usually only takes a couple of days, so it's as convenient as it gets. They offer 90-day returns which can be done in-store for free. Since there are so many Walmart locations, this will usually be your easiest option, but they do have a process for mailing back your products as well.

You'll get a good deal

Walmart has a lot of lovers and a lot of haters. Some don't like that because their prices are so low, it feels like you're also getting cheap products. But it turns out that if you're needing to run away from the massive project you've taken on at home, they'll sell you luggage for that too. Overwhelming inventory at first

The amount of results you'll get for luggage from The Home Depot is staggering at first. Our search turned up 1,619 products, but we quickly realized that there are a lot of other products falling into this category that don't perfectly fit what we're looking for - like luggage tags, digital hanging scales, luggage racks with a shelf, travel pillows, toiletry kits, rifle bags, and more. While these all have their place in travel, it's going to save you a lot of time to narrow down your results by category, luggage features, material, shell type, and brand, to find the bags and suitcases you want. Although a quick search on The Home Depot's website often gets you more than you bargained for, they've at least set up a good enough website to sort through their huge inventory.

No breaking the bank

When you look through the luggage sets, single luggage pieces, bags, backpacks, kids' luggage, laptop bags, and other items that The Home Depot sells, there are still over 1,000 options. Best Buy has a selection of luggage online that you likely won't see in their brick-and-mortar stores. We found that their selection of products online goes far beyond TVs, phones, tablets, vacuums, and home appliances, and we are actually quite impressed with the luggage inventory here.

We noticed there were markdowns on quite a few suitcases from Irv's Luggage, but we wouldn't consider anything here super cheap. Overall, prices range start at $39.99 for a simple Samsonite duffel bag, with other duffels from different brands for under $100. They have some kids' suitcase sets around $95 and then adult suitcases are going to be over $100 and go as high as $1,495 for a large 4-wheeled duffel packing case from Tumi. There's a lot of different price points and all of them are for single suitcases or duffels as we noticed that none of them came in sets (at least, not for adults).

Discounts and free shipping

At the time we were shopping on Irv's Luggage's website, there was a sitewide discount of 10% off our order. It seems they do this every so often, which will save you a chunk of change. Plus, as long as your order total reaches at least the $99.99 mark, you'll qualify for free shipping anywhere in the US.

30-day returns

If you aren't completely happy with your purchase from Irv's Luggage for any reason, the company guarantees your satisfaction with a 30-day return policy. You can contact them for a return authorization number and send back your items in new, unused condition for a full refund, but you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping.

Few customer ratings

One feature you can't use to narrow down luggage on the Irv's Luggage website is customer ratings. It appears that customers can leave reviews on the items they purchase, but we looked through a lot and only saw reviews on a couple suitcases. This makes it a little harder to gather well-rounded information on an item. The product descriptions are really thorough, but most suitcases and bags only have one single photo attached to their listing, so we can't see what they look like on the inside. Irv's Luggage also isn't rated by the Better Business Bureau, so there are some key things missing here that we often rely on to help us make a good purchasing decision.

Macy's is one of the oldest department stores around, dating back to 1858 when it was first named R.H. Macy & Co. Macy's primarily sells home goods, clothing, and beauty products, but their inventory also includes things like toys, furniture, electronics, shoes, and, of course, luggage.

Astounding selection

Macy's sells so many products that you'll want to toy with their filters to narrow down your results. To go through all 1,116 items that come up when you look for luggage here could take you all day. For starters, sort by luggage size, type, brand, price, color, and top rated by customers to save yourself some headache. Even just the number of brands sold here is truly astounding, so whether you want something from American Tourister, Briggs & Riley, Brookstone, Delsey Paris, Juicy Couture, Rockland, Samsonite, or another company, you'll likely find it at Macy's.

Easily weigh the pros and cons

Macy's does a great job with providing ample details on each product they sell. A single suitcase will have plenty of photos and sometimes even a "See it in 3D option” with color options, highlighted product features, and a list of similar suitcases that you might also be interested in. Macy's also has hundreds of reviews from customers on their items and many of those come with photos too, so you can see the luggage in real life and hear everything people do and don't like about it. They definitely make it easy to weigh the pros and cons of each piece of luggage, which is invaluable and will help you buy the right piece of luggage the first time around.

Sales are common

When we reached Macy's site, we were offered 25% off our order. Yes, please! This store always seems to have products on sale, so don't be surprised when you select a suitcase and find that it's significantly marked down already. There are often discount codes that can stack on sale prices or sitewide promos to save you money, making Macy's a popular store.

Competitive pricing

Duffel bags are often the cheapest type of luggage you can buy, and the lowest-priced ones at Macy's are around the $25 to $35 range. The least expensive suitcase we found was a Traveler's Club 20” rolling carry-on originally priced at $120, but on sale for $48. Kids' suitcases with themes like airplanes, mermaids, Super Mario, and PAW Patrol are around $50, and then bigger pieces of luggage and multi-piece sets from name brands start around $100 (or less with discounts) and go up to $1,195 at the most. For reference, the majority of luggage from Macy's is within the $100 to $250 range, so it's quite competitive.

Return in store or by mail

Customers who place orders with totals over $49 will get free standard shipping. If you aren't happy with your purchase once it arrives, the store will accept returns either by mail or in store within 30 days. A $9.99 fee is deducted from your refund if you choose to return by mail, otherwise your return is completely free at one of their stores.

Poor BBB rating

Macy's is the only luggage store in our review that has an "F” rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This is due to their failure to respond to hundreds of complaints. It's not necessarily an indication that they're untrustworthy or that their products are bad, but it does potentially reflect that their customer service team isn't keeping up with issues. Despite this, we feel like if you pay attention to individual reviews for luggage and are able to get a good price, you will have a perfectly satisfactory experience buying luggage from Macy's.

Don't rule them out

Having a huge selection to choose from is nice, but sometimes Macy's has so much that it's hard to know where to start. This is a good place to compare pricing against other companies, possibly score an incredible sale, and get a lot of customer feedback on products. Luggage is definitely not their specialty, but that doesn't mean you can't get something great here or find a set that will last you a long time. We wouldn't make Macy's our first choice for buying luggage online, but they're an option we wouldn't rule out either.

Zappos is a shoe and clothing retailer based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2009, they were acquired by Amazon and are still run by them today. Zappos said they aim to inspire the world by showing that they can simultaneously deliver happiness to their community, customers, employees, vendors, and shareholders, in a sustainable, long-term way. The company sells items for men, women, and kids, featuring name brands like The North Face, Ugg, Hoka, Asics, Hey Dude, and others.

Fancy brands and designs

The products that Zappos sells are mostly in the clothing and shoe category, but they do have 88 bag- and luggage-related items. Brands like Baggallini, Herschel, Michael Kors, Tumi, and even a few Samsonite options are what Zappos features. Zappos is more for people who want to flaunt something that looks high-end rather than getting really functional luggage.

High-end prices

The prices alone here may be a deterrent for people. The cheapest suitcase on offer at Zappos is a Samsonite carry-on spinner that comes in 2 colors for $149.99. Prices only go up from there, unless you're interested in a wallet or small purse-like bag instead and then you can spend closer to $50 - $80. Pretty quickly the cost of suitcases from brands like Michael Kors gets into the $500+ range and can be as much as $1,495. The selection here is pretty random and nothing feels like a really great deal.

Generous perks

We do like that every purchase from Zappos qualifies for free shipping and they don't have minimums or exclusions. They also offer free return shipping on all orders if you aren't 100% satisfied with your purchase. You are eligible for a full refund within 365 days of purchase, which is the most generous return policy we've found so far.

Be wary of shopping here

In addition to pricing, a brief and direct product description, and a couple photos of products from Zappos, they also feature unfiltered customer reviews. It's pretty obvious that luggage isn't their top seller since many of them either have no reviews or just a handful. If you're lucky, you might get a less expensive carry-on that has 40 or so reviews, but overall they aren't a ton. As far as Zappos goes as a company, they do have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but some third-party reviews reveal that people aren't always happy with quality here. There are complaints of people receiving used products, possibly posting fake reviews on their products, poor customer service, and more. It's enough to make us really wary of buying suitcases here that cost hundreds of dollars.

Last resort for luggage

People buying luggage here will be looking for name-brands and fancy designs rather than really practical, durable products. Luggage is definitely not the bread and butter of Zappos. They don't have a great selection, reviews have us uncertain about their professionalism and reliability, and ultimately they are our last resort for buying luggage online.
