The Best Luggage Stores

What Are the Best Stores to Buy Luggage Online?

A good set of luggage is something that everyone needs. Whether you're a world traveler or just do local overnighters every few months, nothing beats having a great set of bags or suitcases to store all your belongings and keep yourself organized. There are so many choices out there, ranging from hardside carry-ons to soft rollaways, so there's quite a bit to consider when you're shopping.

You'll want to have luggage small enough to easily carry around or take as a carry-on during a flight without having to pay extra to check a bag. Then for longer trips, it's important to have choices for larger sizes that can store days worth of clothes, toiletries, and anything else you might want to transport back and forth.

Top Consumer Reviews Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award

Luggage Pros got its start back in 1973 as a family business in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota. They recently celebrated 50 years in business and attribute it to their philosophy of combining high-quality, name-brand luggage, exceptional customer service, and competitive prices. Luggage Pros is also committed to giving back by donating gently used luggage to people in need and using their bags to transport medical and school supplies to areas that are underserved.

Set your preferences

You'll have your pick of 526 products in the "Luggage and Suitcases” category from Luggage Pros. This spans brands like Baggallini, Briggs & Riley, Eagle Creek, Luggage Pros, Samsonite, Thule, TravelPro, Tumi, Wally Bags, and others. To simplify your search, you'll want to specify if you're looking for hard or softside luggage, rolling luggage, spinners, or even things like garment bags or travel totes. You can sort by size, price, weight, wheels, color, features, and material.

Best Luggage Stores

Personalized options

Most of the suitcases or bags from Luggage Pros come in a variety of colors like black, green, navy, silver, brown, or the occasional bright orange or pink. If you really want your luggage to stand out and have a design that no one else has, you can opt to make a personalized bag through the brand Myfly and upload any photo you want to cover the entire area of your carry-on or 24” suitcase. Maybe you want a giant picture of your dog to be with you wherever you go, a candid shot of your family, or even a scenic picture from a previous adventure. The choice is yours.

Compare with similar products

When you click on a suitcase you want more details on, you'll be shown a list of photos, main features, specifications, and even side-by-side comparisons with other pieces of luggage that are similar to what you're exploring in size, price, and features. You can also see reviews of the product from other customers, but we found there are a few that haven't been rated at all yet.

Won't be undersold

An easy way to make yourself feel better about any purchase is to see if the company offers discounts if you sign up for their email list. This is the case with Luggage Pros, since they offer 10% off if you join. Plus, they have a 115% low price guarantee, which is much more than can be said for a lot of other companies. If you find a lower price on a piece of luggage on an authorized rival's website, you can contact Luggage Pros within 30 days of your purchase and they'll refund you 115% of the difference.

On the more expensive side

The starting cost of a suitcase from Luggage Pros is $93 for a small Delsey carry-on. There are a few other small suitcases for right around the $100 mark if you need something basic and compact. The majority of suitcases are over $200, with some being over $1,000 or even $2,000 if you need a specialty item like a bank suitcase with extra locks, Italian-crafted leather, and an aluminum body. It feels like prices here are on the slightly higher end, especially considering they sell single pieces of luggage and not sets.

Best Luggage Stores

Free exchanges

A 30-day return policy is in place through Luggage Pros for items you change your mind about. A $14.95 fee will be assessed for customers who request a return label and want a refund for their item. Due to a FedEx surcharge, you might even need to pay an extra $19.50 for items over 105 inches in length (suitcases with a height of 28-29 inches or more). However, exchanges are free, so if you see something else on Luggage Pro's website that you like, it's cheaper to just switch over to that one.

Well-liked

Luggage Pros has an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. They are really well-liked by their customers and we're impressed with the positive reviews from people about their individual products as well. People say that their customer service goes above and beyond to help out, they quickly resolve shipping issues, the quality of the luggage is fantastic, and more. We're really impressed with how good reviews are for this company.

No reason not to shop here

Although Luggage Pros has slightly more expensive suitcases than what you can get through a competing store, you can feel confident in their price-match guarantee and knowing that their customer service is so on-the-ball. They have a solid selection, but we do wish they sold more sets so that customers could get their luggage to match if they want to. Outside of this, we love what Luggage Pros has to offer, so they've earned our best rating.

Walmart Review 4.5 Star Rating

Walmart

4.5 Star Rating
  • Over 1,000 results for luggage
  • Starting at $18.48
  • Nothing over $230
  • Free 90-day returns
  • Free shipping over $35
  • "A+” Better Business Bureau rating

No matter what you're shopping for, it's always wise to check for it at Walmart. This store knows no limits when it comes to their selection of products and they're most recognized for their low prices. Not only are there over 4,500 locations throughout the United States, but Walmart has an expansive online store that includes far more than you'll find if you visit in person. From groceries to clothing to home decor to seasonal items, Walmart really seems to have it all.

A mind-boggling inventory

Since Walmart carries such a massive inventory of items, they have a lot of features on their website to make it easier to find what you want. There are over 1,000 results for luggage and this doesn't even include accessories, so there is a lot to sort through here. For starters, you can select the price range you want to stay within, brand, fulfillment speed, luggage type, luggage style, carry-on size, holding capacity, height, weight, casing, piece count, and customer ratings. Even if you set your preferences in all these categories, you'll probably still have a couple hundred options.

Best Luggage Stores

Fewer name-brand options

You'll find fewer name-brand pieces of luggage here than you might somewhere else. Walmart often gives a home to companies that are lesser-known, but still make a good product. For example, we didn't find any Samsonite suitcases here or Tumi, Delsey, TravelPro, or other names we've become familiar with. Rather there are brands like Protege, iFLY, Travelhouse, Tripcomp, Zimtown, Joyway, Wrangler, InUSA, and others that you may or may not recognize. Luckily there are plenty of customer ratings on these unfamiliar brands to help you feel confident that they make good, durable luggage that provides value.

Something for everyone

There is a great range of kids' luggage, individual pieces of luggage, and sets at Walmart. It really feels like the sky's the limit here. Luggage comes in all colors, with all types of features, and some have unique designs we haven't seen anywhere else. Depending on the set you choose, you'll find a lot that come with packing cubes, travel pillows, bags, or backpacks as a bonus, which is fun. Each product comes with a clear description of its features, lots of photos from all angles, customer reviews, suggestions for similar items, and shipping options.

Staggeringly low prices

Luggage starts at just $18.48 for a kids Protege carry-on suitcase with a "Soda Shop” theme. For only $19.96 you can get an 18” black Protege carry-on, which is a crazy deal. When we were shopping, Walmart showed that over 100 of this particular product had been purchased just the day before. For under $50 there was a long list of carry-on suitcase options, sometimes ones that even came with multiple pieces. What really blew our minds was finding that of the 25+ pages of luggage featured on Walmart's site, the most expensive ones were only $229. This was for a 3-piece iFLY hardside set that came in cotton candy colors. Just under this was a classy black 4-piece set for $215.99. Surely no one else can compete with these low prices for luggage.

Free shipping and easy returns

If you spend at least $35, you'll get free shipping from Walmart. Delivery usually only takes a couple of days, so it's as convenient as it gets. They offer 90-day returns which can be done in-store for free. Since there are so many Walmart locations, this will usually be your easiest option, but they do have a process for mailing back your products as well.

Best Luggage Stores

You'll get a good deal

Walmart has a lot of lovers and a lot of haters. Some don't like that because their prices are so low, it feels like you're also getting cheap products. Ratings for this store reflect thousands of run-ins people have had with Walmart employees and all other types of issues under the sun. However, when you're shopping online here, things are pretty straightforward. Pay attention to the customer ratings on each suitcase or bag, look through the pictures posted by other buyers, and review all the luggage features. You may be surprised by how good of a product you can get for such a low price, so if you aren't married to the idea of name-brand luggage and just want a great value (see what we did there?), then look no further.

Hard to compete with Walmart

Despite Walmart's shortcomings, they do have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. We like that the selection here is so expansive and their prices can't be beat, so this is easily (and surprisingly?) a top place to buy luggage online.

JCPenney Review 4.5 Star Rating

JCPenney

4.5 Star Rating
  • Over 870 luggage options
  • Starting at $22.50
  • Sales run often
  • Free shipping on orders over $49
  • 60-day return policy
  • Unfiltered customer ratings
  • "A+” Better Business Bureau rating

JCPenney is an American department store chain that carries a bit of nostalgia for nearly everyone in the US. It represents somewhat of a lost era of American retail with people associating it with family shopping trips to the mall, a popular catalog mailer, and seasonal shopping sprees, especially around Christmastime. JCPenney was founded back in 1902 by James Cash Penney as a dry goods store in Kemmerer, Wyoming. There are now 659 JCPenney stores operating throughout the United States, and the company features a booming website with all of their inventory - from clothing to dining sets to electronics - within the click of a few buttons.

No shortage of options

You won't be lacking for luggage options when you shop online from JCPenney since they have over 870 options (including accessories). They feature just about every luggage brand we know of, with sets and singles in all different colors, materials, types, colors, and prices. JCPenney has a straightforward website where you can select certain features you want in a piece of luggage and filter through what meets your criteria. Before you even click on a listing you want to see, you'll be able to view the price, color options, size, and overall customer ratings. Product listings are extensive and you'll usually get at least 5 photos from different angles of the suitcase, plus feature highlights.

Best Luggage Stores

20% off code

We had a pop-up while we were viewing all our top choices for luggage from JCPenney, telling us that a 20% coupon was available for us to apply to our order, so we snatched that up without question. JCPenney is known for running good sales and often having popular items discounted to lower prices than you might find somewhere else.

Huge price range

Starting at just $22.50, you can get a 20” duffel bag from Summit Ridge. They have tons of backpacks and kids' suitcases in the $30 range or less, and a 20” hardside suitcase starts at $53.99. We recommend filtering the options by selecting your price range since there is such a wide range as far as costs go. You could spend as much as $679.50 on a 3-piece textured hardside set of Mickey Mouse suitcases here, which still feels like a really good deal.

60-day returns

If you need to make a return to JCPenney, you could locate the store you live closest to and take it in for free. As long as you have your receipt and your product is in new, unused condition, you can take it back for a full refund within 60 days of purchase. You can also start a return online and ship your luggage back to JCPenney if this is an easier route for you to go, but you will need to pay a fee for return shipping.

Useful Q&A section

In addition to honest, unfiltered customer ratings on luggage from JCPenney, we also found helpful questions and answers from other buyers. They asked about warranty coverage, how easily a particular bag fits into a plane's overhead compartment, how much a certain suitcase weighs, exact dimensions, and other details that might not be listed with the product. This is great insight beyond just customer ratings that is worth reviewing.

Best Luggage Stores

A fantastic choice

JCPenney receives an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. They have been around for a long time and are a widely trusted company with generous policies, an incredible inventory of items, and reasonable prices. Although it may not be the first place you'd think to look for luggage, we're giving JCPenney a big thumbs up and wouldn't question buying duffel bags, backpacks, or suitcases here before heading out on our next big adventure. JCPenney has earned one of our highest ratings for luggage stores.

Kohl's Review 4 Star Rating

Kohl's

4 Star Rating
  • Over 2,600 results for luggage
  • Starting at $65
  • Free shipping on orders over $49
  • Unfiltered customer reviews
  • 90-day returns
  • "A+” Better Business Bureau rating

Kohl's is like a catch-all store for products like clothes, electronics, toys, home goods, furniture and more. It is named after Maxwell Kohl, a Polish immigrant who opened a grocery store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1927. This is still close to where their headquarters are today, but they have grown into over 1,150 stores throughout the United States. Many people turn to Kohl's for low prices, the "Kohl's Cash” rewards program, and the wide variety of products they offer.

More than enough options

The main categories of luggage sold by Kohl's include carry-ons, medium-sized, large, luggage sets, hardside, and softside suitcases, which just about covers it. They also have duffel bags, travel backpacks, and kids' luggage as well. A quick search on Kohl's website for luggage brings up over 2,600 results, so you'll want to specify your favorite brands, the size you need, features, price range, color, and customer ratings to save you time. In those thousands of results, you'll get some non-luggage products like TSA locks, luggage tags, accessory pods, packing cubes, cosmetic bags, and more.

Best Luggage Stores

Luggage diversity

Whether you love wild, tie-dye-esque luggage sets that you'll never lose in a crowd or something classy and simple like an all-black set with brown leather trim, Kohl's has your back. You'll quickly realize that regardless of your style, you'll find something you like here. Most suitcases have at least a few color options, so if you're more picky about the size and features of the luggage, you'll still get to choose between a few designs to make sure it's the perfect option for you. There are lots of kids' suitcases here featuring characters like Mickey/Minnie Mouse, R2-D2, Squishmallows, PAW Patrol, the Marvel superheroes, Harry Potter, Hello Kitty, and so many others. Luggage diversity is definitely something that Kohl's has on lock.

Big $100 - $250 category

The biggest price category of luggage from Kohl's is definitely the $100 to $250 range. They have sets that seem shockingly affordable like a cute mint Merax 5-piece luggage set with 4 suitcases and a travel bag for $235. These might not be the highest-quality or fanciest sets, but if you only travel every once in a while, this feels like a deal you can't pass up. Luggage starts around $65 for softside rolling duffel bags from brands like Rockland or Wrangler, and go all the way up to $960 for a Juicy Couture 3-piece hardside spinner luggage set that gives us cotton candy vibes with its design.

Kohl's Rewards

Kohl's Cash is a big incentive for people who shop here, since you'll get a coupon with your order for a certain dollar amount off of a future order that can be used within a designated time frame. For example, if you make a $50 purchase on November 1, you might get a $10 Kohl's Cash reward that you can use towards a purchase during the month of December. The more money you spend on a purchase, the higher your dollar amount of Kohl's Cash will be.

Free shipping over $49

If you spend over $49 at Kohl's (which won't be hard when you're buying luggage), you'll get free standard shipping. Anything less is just $8.95. When your luggage arrives, you can return most items in store or online within 90 days, which is a longer window than you'll get from a lot of other places. You can make a return either to one of their stores or through the mail, but you will need to pay for the return shipping.

Best Luggage Stores

Hundreds of customer ratings

It's not uncommon to find hundreds or even thousands of customer reviews on a particular piece of luggage from Kohl's. This is a popular online store where a lot of people turn to get deals on their purchases. Customers can rate the durability of the luggage, add photos, post comments, rate the ease of use, value, and quality to give you a good overview of the product. Kohl's has an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, so we're confident that if you refer to customer ratings, you'll have a good experience when you shop here.

Good budget-friendly choice

If you are looking for budget luggage, Kohl's is a good choice. They aren't known for having the fanciest products or top-of-the-line items from name-brand manufacturers, but they offer plenty of transparent information to help you get the most value from a purchase. As long as you aren't needing suitcases that you can use weekly and that will take a heavy beating with lots of flights, most things that Kohl's offers should take care of your travels. We like the variety of styles, designs, and types of luggage from Kohl's, so they're definitely a store that we recommend.

Home Depot Review 4 Star Rating

Home Depot

4 Star Rating
  • Over 1,000 luggage products
  • Starting at $31.67
  • Free shipping on orders over $45
  • Free 90-day in-store returns
  • Unfiltered customer reviews
  • "A+” Better Business Bureau rating

We've stopped being surprised at the products you can get on The Home Depot's website. Most of us turn here when we're diving into a DIY project or need to build or fix something around our property. But it turns out that if you're needing to run away from the massive project you've taken on at home, they'll sell you luggage for that too. This store is the world's largest home improvement retailer and has been around since 1978. It's a store you can't miss, with their big orange buildings dotting over 2,300 locations throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Overwhelming inventory at first

The amount of results you'll get for luggage from The Home Depot is staggering at first. Our search turned up 1,619 products, but we quickly realized that there are a lot of other products falling into this category that don't perfectly fit what we're looking for - like luggage tags, digital hanging scales, luggage racks with a shelf, travel pillows, toiletry kits, rifle bags, and more. While these all have their place in travel, it's going to save you a lot of time to narrow down your results by category, luggage features, material, shell type, and brand, to find the bags and suitcases you want. Although a quick search on The Home Depot's website often gets you more than you bargained for, they've at least set up a good enough website to sort through their huge inventory.

Best Luggage Stores

No breaking the bank

When you look through the luggage sets, single luggage pieces, bags, backpacks, kids' luggage, laptop bags, and other items that The Home Depot sells, there are still over 1,000 options. We found some good deals starting at just $31.67 for rolling duffle bags from companies like TCL, Rockland, Elite Luggage, and other brands. The most expensive choice was a Champs 3-piece hardside luggage set that came in either navy, white, black, or grey for $469, which still felt like a steal of a deal. For the amount of options here at The Home Depot, you really won't be breaking the bank, which is great news.

Have it shipped

None of the luggage we found from The Home Depot was in stock in any of their stores. This is a category of products that will need to be shipped to your home directly or to one of their stores for you to do a pickup. Since The Home Depot offers free shipping over $45, you might as well have them send your luggage to your doorstep. Home Depot always provides a delivery window before checkout so you know which shipping option will get your items to you the fastest or if a particular item is backordered for some reason.

Free in-store returns

Where the many locations of The Home Depot will come in handy for you is if you need to make a return. Any time you're buying something big like luggage, it's a pain to have to ship it back. It will save you time and money to just drop off your luggage at your nearest location for free and get it taken care of. As long as you take it back to The Home Depot within 90 days of purchase, you're good to go.

Best Luggage Stores

Unfiltered reviews

Although luggage isn't the top selling product at The Home Depot, this is a popular enough retailer that you'll still get plenty of customer reviews to consider. Home Depot is great about letting customers leave unfiltered reviews on all items they purchase, so you'll often find at least a handful of comments and sometimes even hundreds, which is extremely useful when weighing your luggage options. Plus, The Home Depot has an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, which can bolster your confidence in making a purchase here.

Thoroughly impressed

We wouldn't have thought that The Home Depot would be a top place to buy luggage, but we are thoroughly impressed. Their selection is wide, pricing is affordable, and we have no hesitations purchasing from this store. If you're looking for a variety of options and want to know you can get free shipping and easy returns, give the luggage inventory at The Home Depot a look.

Luggage Online Review 3.5 Star Rating

Luggage Online

3.5 Star Rating
  • About 400 luggage options
  • Starting at $29.99
  • 110% low price guarantee
  • Free shipping on orders over $99
  • 15% off first order with email signup
  • Free 30-day returns

Luggage Online boasts that they are a premiere online source for all luggage and travel accessory needs. They carry over 100 brands of handbags, accessories, and luggage, like Rimowa, Tumi, Samsonite, Travelpro, and more. If you want high-end luggage that not only looks classy but will hold up to lots of walking, transportation on and off planes, and being moved around between cars and in and out of different climates, Luggage Online might be just your style.

Plenty of choices

The inventory from Luggage Online is divided among brands, carry ons, luggage, accessories, backpacks and bags, business, family travel, and adventure travel. Within these categories you can narrow down the exact luggage type, features, color, price range, and more. In the luggage category alone, there are about 400 options and another 400 for bags and backpacks. You aren't going to be completely inundated with choices here, but there are enough to provide you with what you need without getting completely overwhelmed.

Best Luggage Stores

Good product listings

When you are viewing any given product from Luggage Online, you'll see the price, color options, sizes it comes in, dimensions, and helpful features to help you grasp what types of travel it is best for. Some products have more pictures than others, but quite a few show a suitcase from all angles, plus what it looks like on the inside. We're satisfied with how much information is given and we would feel confident making a purchase with the details provided.

Lots of options under $200

Signing up for Luggage Online's email list will get you 15% off your first order. They also offer free shipping on all orders over $99, so most purchases will easily qualify. The cheapest piece of luggage from Luggage Online is a large Bixbee camouflage green duffel bag for $29.99. For a small suitcase, you can get a simple black Briggs & Riley spinner for $40 (on sale from $50), but realistically you should expect to pay over $100 for most single pieces of luggage. There are sets here too, which sometimes offer more value. The highest priced products are the FPM Milano Bank Spinners that go up to $2,275. These are exclusively made in Italy, come with hard sides, multiple TSA locks, and other additional security for valuable items. They aren't your typical pieces of luggage, so these prices don't reflect the average of what you'll find here at all. There are tons of great luggage choices for under $200, which is really competitive.

Price matching and free returns

Although there are a few high-end pieces of luggage here that come with a hefty price tag, it's often the case that you get what you pay for, so we hope this means that the bags and suitcases here are heavy-duty and will last a really long time. Plus, Luggage Online has a 110% price match guarantee, so you know you aren't being overcharged. They also have a 30-day return policy, so you can reach out to them during this time if you change your mind about the luggage you bought or want to exchange it for something else. They'll provide you with a prepaid shipping label for you to send back your items.

Some mixed feedback

Every piece of luggage comes with an option for customers to come back to Luggage Online and leave a review for it. Some have quite a few ratings and others don't have any yet. So, we can't guarantee that you'll choose a suitcase or bag that you'll get useful feedback on, but at least the option is there for people. Overall, products receive honest and mostly high ratings from customers, which is reassuring. It seems, however, based on information from third-party sites, that customer service is the biggest downside of shopping here. Although Luggage Online has great policies in place, they don't necessarily make it easy for buyers to take advantage. Some recently said that they received products they didn't order and had a hard time working through the issue to get it taken care of. There are also a fair share of people who really like Luggage Online and have nothing but great things to say. The company is not rated by the Better Business Bureau and we usually like to cross-check this, so unfortunately we can't go off of a rating there.

Best Luggage Stores

Looking for some improvement

Overall, we are happy with the high-end feel of Luggage Online. They have a wide variety of brands and products, but it doesn't seem like their prices are too extravagant. We would give this store one of our very highest ratings if it weren't for some hesitations with customer service and product fulfillment that we've read about. We are awarding Luggage Online a good rating because there is so much going for them and they do have a lot of happy customers, but we have a few reservations about giving them a top spot.

Best Buy Review 3.5 Star Rating

Best Buy

3.5 Star Rating
  • 111 suitcase options
  • From $45.99
  • Free shipping on orders over $35
  • 30-day return policy
  • Unfiltered customer reviews
  • "A+” Better Business Bureau rating

You may be surprised to see Best Buy on our list of luggage stores since most of what you purchase here includes gizmos and gadgets that fall under the "electronics” category. But surprise, surprise! Best Buy has a selection of luggage online that you likely won't see in their brick-and-mortar stores. We found that their selection of products online goes far beyond TVs, phones, tablets, vacuums, and home appliances, and we are actually quite impressed with the luggage inventory here.

Well-known brands

There are 111 results for luggage from Best Buy. This includes things like packing cubes, duffel bags, and backpacks, so it's handy that they have filters to indicate your favorite brands, the luggage size and type you need, your price range, the colors you prefer, features you want, material, rolling style, and even highest-rated choices by customers. The brands here include names like Samsonite, American Tourister, High Sierra, Thule, TUMI, Costway, and others - a good selection of brands you'll likely be familiar with.

Best Luggage Stores

Smorgasbord of choices

Since Best Buy has a plethora of suitcase options, you'll have choices for hard or soft case, black, white, magenta, kids' themed sets, single suitcases, sets of 3, and more. Prices range from $45.99 for a small 16” kids carry-on with either a space or unicorn design to $1,295 for a TUMI expandable 4-wheeled spinner suitcase in black. The filters come in handy here so you don't waste time looking at everything, but rather find the style you want that works with your budget.

Shipping or pickup

When you find luggage you like, Best Buy will show an option for shipping and give you an estimated delivery date and also give a date for when you could come pick it up in their store. Sometimes shipping is faster than they can get your order to their storefront, so pay attention to this. Plus, shipping is free when your order is over $35, so all of the suitcases qualify.

30-day return policy

Best Buy's store locations really come in handy if you need to make a return. You can take unused luggage back within 30 days for a full refund with proof of purchase if you change your mind about what you bought. Rather than having to ship back something as big as a suitcase, you can just roll that luggage right on back to the store.

Ratings from third-parties

Customers can leave product ratings for items they purchase from Best Buy, which is great. When it comes to luggage, we noticed that a lot of the reviews were pulled straight from the brand's website directly though. This isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, but just know that the ratings you see may not be from people who purchased a bag or suitcase from Best Buy directly. The Better Business Bureau gives Best Buy a solid "A+” rating, so this is undoubtedly a trustworthy, reputable store to buy from.

Best Luggage Stores

No reason not to

There are no major reasons not to buy luggage from Best Buy. However, sometimes when a retailer sells something that they have no specialty in, you'll get less reliable service in terms of getting something fixed when it breaks (like if a wheel falls off or the handle comes loose). Best Buy has a decent selection and sells popular brands, so it's worth at least comparing pricing here with our higher-ranked stores.

You'll find brands like Bagsmart, Briggs & Riley, Cotopaxi, Eddie Bauer, High Sierra, Kiddietotes, Samsonite, The North Face, Thule, Tumi, and quite a few others. If you prefer a certain brand, you can easily specify which one you want as well as the type, collection, size, capacity, shell type, wheels, color, and price range.

Best Luggage Stores

No luggage sets for grown-ups

We noticed there were markdowns on quite a few suitcases from Irv's Luggage, but we wouldn't consider anything here super cheap. Overall, prices range start at $39.99 for a simple Samsonite duffel bag, with other duffels from different brands for under $100. They have some kids' suitcase sets around $95 and then adult suitcases are going to be over $100 and go as high as $1,495 for a large 4-wheeled duffel packing case from Tumi. There's a lot of different price points and all of them are for single suitcases or duffels as we noticed that none of them came in sets (at least, not for adults).

Discounts and free shipping

At the time we were shopping on Irv's Luggage's website, there was a sitewide discount of 10% off our order. It seems they do this every so often, which will save you a chunk of change. Plus, as long as your order total reaches at least the $99.99 mark, you'll qualify for free shipping anywhere in the US.

30-day returns

If you aren't completely happy with your purchase from Irv's Luggage for any reason, the company guarantees your satisfaction with a 30-day return policy. You can contact them for a return authorization number and send back your items in new, unused condition for a full refund, but you will be responsible for the cost of return shipping.

Few customer ratings

One feature you can't use to narrow down luggage on the Irv's Luggage website is customer ratings. It appears that customers can leave reviews on the items they purchase, but we looked through a lot and only saw reviews on a couple suitcases. This makes it a little harder to gather well-rounded information on an item. The product descriptions are really thorough, but most suitcases and bags only have one single photo attached to their listing, so we can't see what they look like on the inside. Irv's Luggage also isn't rated by the Better Business Bureau, so there are some key things missing here that we often rely on to help us make a good purchasing decision.

Best Luggage Stores

Not a top destination

Overall, the variety of brands and suitcases from Irv's Luggage is solid. We wish they had luggage sets because this often offers more value and ensures you get multiple matching pieces. We also would like to see more feedback from customers before buying our luggage here. This isn't one of our top destinations for luggage, so Irv's Luggage has earned an average rating.

Macy's Review 3 Star Rating

Macy's

3 Star Rating
  • Over 1,115 results for luggage
  • Starting at $25
  • Free shipping on orders over $49
  • 30-day return policy
  • Free in-store returns
  • Unfiltered customer reviews

Whether it be through shopping at one of their stores, buying something online, or just watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, you're more than likely familiar with this retailer. Macy's is one of the oldest department stores around, dating back to 1858 when it was first named R.H. Macy & Co. They were renamed to Macy's in 2007 and have since acquired the companies Bloomingdale's and Bluemercury. Macy's primarily sells home goods, clothing, and beauty products, but their inventory also includes things like toys, furniture, electronics, shoes, and, of course, luggage.

Astounding selection

Macy's sells so many products that you'll want to toy with their filters to narrow down your results. To go through all 1,116 items that come up when you look for luggage here could take you all day. For starters, sort by luggage size, type, brand, price, color, and top rated by customers to save yourself some headache. Even just the number of brands sold here is truly astounding, so whether you want something from American Tourister, Briggs & Riley, Brookstone, Delsey Paris, Juicy Couture, Rockland, Samsonite, or another company, you'll likely find it at Macy's.

Best Luggage Stores

Easily weigh the pros and cons

Macy's does a great job with providing ample details on each product they sell. A single suitcase will have plenty of photos and sometimes even a "See it in 3D option” with color options, highlighted product features, and a list of similar suitcases that you might also be interested in. Macy's also has hundreds of reviews from customers on their items and many of those come with photos too, so you can see the luggage in real life and hear everything people do and don't like about it. They definitely make it easy to weigh the pros and cons of each piece of luggage, which is invaluable and will help you buy the right piece of luggage the first time around.

Sales are common

When we reached Macy's site, we were offered 25% off our order. Yes, please! This store always seems to have products on sale, so don't be surprised when you select a suitcase and find that it's significantly marked down already. There are often discount codes that can stack on sale prices or sitewide promos to save you money, making Macy's a popular store.

Competitive pricing

Duffel bags are often the cheapest type of luggage you can buy, and the lowest-priced ones at Macy's are around the $25 to $35 range. The least expensive suitcase we found was a Traveler's Club 20” rolling carry-on originally priced at $120, but on sale for $48. Kids' suitcases with themes like airplanes, mermaids, Super Mario, and PAW Patrol are around $50, and then bigger pieces of luggage and multi-piece sets from name brands start around $100 (or less with discounts) and go up to $1,195 at the most. For reference, the majority of luggage from Macy's is within the $100 to $250 range, so it's quite competitive.

Return in store or by mail

Customers who place orders with totals over $49 will get free standard shipping. If you aren't happy with your purchase once it arrives, the store will accept returns either by mail or in store within 30 days. A $9.99 fee is deducted from your refund if you choose to return by mail, otherwise your return is completely free at one of their stores.

Best Luggage Stores

Poor BBB rating

Macy's is the only luggage store in our review that has an "F” rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). This is due to their failure to respond to hundreds of complaints. It's not necessarily an indication that they're untrustworthy or that their products are bad, but it does potentially reflect that their customer service team isn't keeping up with issues. Despite this, we feel like if you pay attention to individual reviews for luggage and are able to get a good price, you will have a perfectly satisfactory experience buying luggage from Macy's.

Don't rule them out

Having a huge selection to choose from is nice, but sometimes Macy's has so much that it's hard to know where to start. This is a good place to compare pricing against other companies, possibly score an incredible sale, and get a lot of customer feedback on products. Luggage is definitely not their specialty, but that doesn't mean you can't get something great here or find a set that will last you a long time. We wouldn't make Macy's our first choice for buying luggage online, but they're an option we wouldn't rule out either.

Zappos Review 2.5 Star Rating

Zappos

2.5 Star Rating
  • 88 luggage-related items
  • Starting at $149.99
  • Free shipping on all orders
  • 365-day return policy
  • Free returns
  • "A+” Better Business Bureau rating

Zappos is a shoe and clothing retailer based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2009, they were acquired by Amazon and are still run by them today. Zappos said they aim to inspire the world by showing that they can simultaneously deliver happiness to their community, customers, employees, vendors, and shareholders, in a sustainable, long-term way. The company sells items for men, women, and kids, featuring name brands like The North Face, Ugg, Hoka, Asics, Hey Dude, and others.

Fancy brands and designs

The products that Zappos sells are mostly in the clothing and shoe category, but they do have 88 bag- and luggage-related items. Brands like Baggallini, Herschel, Michael Kors, Tumi, and even a few Samsonite options are what Zappos features. Zappos is more for people who want to flaunt something that looks high-end rather than getting really functional luggage.

Best Luggage Stores

High-end prices

The prices alone here may be a deterrent for people. The cheapest suitcase on offer at Zappos is a Samsonite carry-on spinner that comes in 2 colors for $149.99. Prices only go up from there, unless you're interested in a wallet or small purse-like bag instead and then you can spend closer to $50 - $80. Pretty quickly the cost of suitcases from brands like Michael Kors gets into the $500+ range and can be as much as $1,495. The selection here is pretty random and nothing feels like a really great deal.

Generous perks

We do like that every purchase from Zappos qualifies for free shipping and they don't have minimums or exclusions. They also offer free return shipping on all orders if you aren't 100% satisfied with your purchase. You are eligible for a full refund within 365 days of purchase, which is the most generous return policy we've found so far.

Be wary of shopping here

In addition to pricing, a brief and direct product description, and a couple photos of products from Zappos, they also feature unfiltered customer reviews. It's pretty obvious that luggage isn't their top seller since many of them either have no reviews or just a handful. If you're lucky, you might get a less expensive carry-on that has 40 or so reviews, but overall they aren't a ton. As far as Zappos goes as a company, they do have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, but some third-party reviews reveal that people aren't always happy with quality here. There are complaints of people receiving used products, possibly posting fake reviews on their products, poor customer service, and more. It's enough to make us really wary of buying suitcases here that cost hundreds of dollars.

Best Luggage Stores

Last resort for luggage

People buying luggage here will be looking for name-brands and fancy designs rather than really practical, durable products. Luggage is definitely not the bread and butter of Zappos. They don't have a great selection, reviews have us uncertain about their professionalism and reliability, and ultimately they are our last resort for buying luggage online.

Continued from above...

You don't want to find yourself strapped without the right luggage when you need it, so having at least 3 different sizes should ensure you have the essentials. Aside from there being lots of choices of luggage sizes, you'll also find that stores carry all different patterns, materials, and luggage with different features like wheels, locks, pockets, storage cubes, and more. Plus, many stores have extra-small luggage that's just for children, so you could find fun patterns and shapes to excite your kids and make it easy to organize their belongings.

You can really be picky and cater your bags or suitcases to fit your lifestyle and preferred mode of transportation. Maybe you want floral luggage so you can always quickly identify it on a baggage carousel at the airport or simple black bags that are durable enough to not show wear and tear and are easy to carry wherever you go.

There are more luggage options than you can imagine, so it's important to pick a store with a really good selection that is known for carrying high quality products. Make sure you choose somewhere that has good filter features to help you identify what you care most about in your luggage set and narrow down their inventory to see your best options.

We also recommend taking the following things into consideration to help you get the most value from your purchase and make sure you find luggage that will last for years to come:

  • Selection. Shop online from a store that gives you a lot of options for luggage. There are so many choices out there, so it's ideal if you can get a lot of brands and types to choose from all in one place. This will save you time and effort and ensure you find something you're really happy with.
  • Cost. Don't hesitate to find luggage you like and see if it's sold at another highly-rated store for a better price. A huge benefit of shopping online is that you can easily get the best prices available by seeing if other stores have it on sale or with perks like free shipping. Sometimes buying luggage in a set rather than piece-by-piece will give you a better deal, so keep that in mind as you shop.
  • Customer reviews. Pay close attention to what customers think of the luggage store. Do items arrive on time and as described online? You'll want to buy from a company that has generous policies and a good customer service team to take care of your every need. Plus, make sure the store lets their buyers leave unfiltered reviews on their products to help you pick the best ones when you're shopping on their website.
  • Refund policy. If you get your luggage and it's not what you expected in terms of the size, materials, or design, can you send it back for a full refund? Do you have at least 30 days to decide if you want to keep it or not? It's also important to find out how a company will take care of you in the event that a wheel, handle, or other part of your luggage breaks.

The experts at Top Consumer Reviews have researched the best stores that sell luggage online. We hope this information helps you find a set of bags or suitcases that you're excited about and will make a good companion for all your future travels!

Luggage Store FAQ

Luggage is used to protect clothing and other items during travel. It is usually made either with a hard shell or a durable soft material. There are often compartments and dividers within a suitcase that allow you to pack everything you need in an organized manner. Most luggage is rectangular in shape and comes in different sizes depending on how many things you're bringing along on your trip.
There are about 6 different sizes of luggage if you want to get really specific. There are personal item-size luggage (about 17” long), international carry-on (about 21” tall), domestic-carry on (about 22” tall), small checked luggage (23-24” tall), medium checked luggage (25-27” tall), and large checked luggage (28-32” tall). These sizes are based on airline regulations since most people use their luggage for flying. Airlines only accept luggage of certain sizes depending on how much you've paid for your ticket and where you're going. People like to have luggage in a few different sizes so they can adapt to however they are traveling.
The best style of luggage to buy is the style you like best! You can find luggage in all colors and patterns. Sometimes it's helpful to have more unique luggage so that it's easy to identify if you're picking it up at baggage claim after a flight and no one else takes it by mistake. Some other things to consider when choosing a style is whether or not you want luggage with wheels, hard or soft material, how many interior compartments, and other small details.
There is no single best material for luggage, so you'll want to decide what type you buy based on what you're transporting. You will have choices like aluminum, polyester, ballistic nylon, leather, polycarbonate, etc. There are pros and cons with different materials. If you're worried about things breaking or being affected by impact, hard-shell luggage will offer the best protection. Soft-sided luggage can expand and be more flexible if you're stuffing it full to the brim and it usually has external pockets. You'll find affordable options for both hard- and soft-sided luggage, so it really comes down to preference.
You can either buy luggage one piece at a time or find a set that comes with two or three pieces. Price will vary based on the size, material, and brand. You can get a medium-sized suitcase ranging from about $50 to $300. However, there are also plenty of retailers that sell luggage sets for under $300, which is a great deal. Once you decide on the style, material, and size of suitcase(s) you're looking for, you can start comparing the prices among different retailers.
Yes! If your luggage is new and unused, almost all retailers offer a return policy. You will likely have anywhere from 30 to 90 days to change your mind about the luggage you purchased and send it back for a full refund. You might have to pay return shipping, so keep that in mind. Sometimes it helps to see your luggage in person: if you decide it isn't the size you imagined or a style you like, you can always switch it out for something else.
Most airlines allow you to have one checked bag and one carry-on bag when flying (unless you pay extra for additional checked bags). It's a good idea to have a carry-on-sized suitcase since you aren't usually charged for these on a flight. The standard size for this is 22” x 14” x 9”, which includes handles and wheels. Checked bags cannot exceed 50 lbs and the most common maximum size is 62 linear (total) inches. Read the baggage policies for the airline you're flying on before you head to the airport!
It's hard to get away with not owning your own luggage since traveling is more popular than ever these days. Even if you aren't going long-distance and needing to get on an airplane, having a nice bag or suitcase to pack your clothes, shoes, and hygiene items for a quick weekend getaway is essential.

Choosing the Right Luggage

Historically, luggage consisted mainly of large trunks or bulky chests. Today, the term is readily used to describe a suitcase, garment bag, duffle and/or tote. A suitcase is commonly used for clothing to be worn throughout a lengthy trip, while a duffle or tote may be used as an overnight bag for very short times away from home.

When it comes to traveling with your luggage, having the right products may mean the difference in having a memorable trip and one that you would rather forget. The right luggage will provide you with organization, plenty of room and a few spare compartments for all of the little souvenirs that you pick up during your travels. Above all, the best luggage will be selected after first determining how you intend to use it. What size will you need and what is the anticipated length of your trip(s)? The answers to both of these questions will help with your decision and will ensure that your luggage will be a perfect fit.

If you are like most, you are probably upgrading to a new luggage set. Perhaps you have an older suitcase and need a new product with more space or maybe your current set is simply beginning to show its age. Whatever the reason, choosing the size for your new suitcase can simply be done by measuring the inside of your old one and then deciding whether or not you need the same size or one featuring a smaller or larger interior. With the accurate measurements, you will be able to narrow your choices down to only those that are available in the size that you need. The basic recommendation is that a suitcase should accommodate enough clothes to get you through your trip. The longer the trip, the larger the luggage.

Hard-sided suitcases are stain resistant, stronger than soft-sided luggage and can be used to protect fragile items. These types of suitcases typically feature wheels for easy transport and a pull bar. Semi-soft sided suitcases offer a sturdy frame and flexible interior, which is ideal if you tend to pack a bulging suitcase. These, too, commonly feature wheels and a pull bar for easy transport. Soft-sided suitcases are ideal for public transportation because they are lightweight and can be squeezed into small spaces.

Before you begin to shop, take a moment to think about how often your luggage will be used, what type of trips will be taken, the length of time you will be spending away from home and which items will be accompanying you on your travels.

Most quality luggage pieces will feature multiple compartments, which will make for easy storage. If you are traveling and are limited in the amount of space that you have for luggage, having extra compartments will be ideal. If you are looking for matched sets, most top luggage manufacturers, including American Tourister and Samsonite, offer a full product line of quality pieces in matching designs. Whether your choice is classic solids or you like a splash of color in your luggage, there is no shortage of choices.
