Top Consumer Reviews Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award

US Global Mail strives to make the world a better place by giving everyone "a permanent address in the cloud” and by shredding and recycling junk mail, plus planting a tree for every customer they enroll in their mail scanning services. With more than 80,000 customers in the last 20+ years, that's a lot of trees planted so far.

Save 25%...on something

When we first landed on the US Global Mail website, we got an offer to save 25% if we subscribed to marketing emails - but it didn't specify what the discount would apply to (the first month? the first year? forever?), and the pop-up kept getting stuck on our screen and we were forced to refresh. Annoying.

Several affordable package options

But, it's worth it to press forward, irritating website issues aside, because US Global Mail is one of the best mail scanning providers available today. Let's take a look at the packages you can choose from:

  • Basic: billed monthly at $14.99 or yearly at $119.40, this tier gives you mail scanning for a single user/recipient. It includes unlimited exterior scans, free check deposit services, free shredding and recycling, and 45 days of free physical mail storage.
  • Plus: billed monthly at $19.99 or annually at $179.40, this package includes up to 10 family members as recipients, unlimited exterior scans, free unlimited check deposits, 90 days of free physical mail storage, and free secure shredding (not just recycling) of mail.
  • Business: for a monthly price of $34.99 or an annual price of $359.40, you'll get mail scanning services for up to 10 companies, unlimited exterior scans, free unlimited check deposits, free secure shred and recycle, up to 180 days of free physical mail storage, and discounts on scan bundles.

Not all-inclusive

But, take note of the services that aren't included in those packages. You'll find a great comparison list on the Pricing page, but the one that jumped out at us was the lack of any interior document scans. There aren't any that come as part of a package, and the everyday cost on both the Basic and Plus tiers is $3 plus an additional $0.50 per page. That could add up quickly. Also, you only get 180 days of digital scan storage. Although many rivals provide unlimited storage with no expiration date, we think that six months is plenty of time for you to save anything you want to keep long-term over to your Google Drive or Dropbox.

No fees for depositing checks or pre-sorting junk mail

On the other hand, check depositing is free on all of US Global Mail's packages; you only have to cover the postage of getting the check sent along to your bank. You also get no-cost pre-sorting of junk mail, so you don't even have to see it land in your virtual inbox.

30+ address options within the US

How about address selection? US Global Mail has three company-owned locations in Texas (Houston), California (Concord), and Nevada (Las Vegas). They also offer mail scanning services through 30+ partner facilities; you can search by zip code if you'd like one close to you (for easy in-person pickup of packages, for example), or take a look at the map on the US Global Mail website. However, all of the addresses are within the US; this is not a mail scanning service that allows you to set up an address overseas.

30-day satisfaction guarantee

Should you be unhappy with your mail scanning service through US Global Mail, you're eligible for a full, no-questions-asked refund within the first 30 days.

Customers love this company

US Global Mail has received the highest accolades available from the Better Business Bureau: an "A+” rating and accreditation. There were only 8 complaints registered with the BBB in the last three years. But, the biggest reason why US Global Mail gets the #1 spot on our list is because of their customer feedback. On Trustpilot alone, over 90% of the 1,300+ people who rated this service give it a 4- or 5-star score. Although some customers have had to jump through a few too many hoops to cancel their mail scanning and forwarding service when the time came, and some thought that the forwarding shipping costs were too high, the vast majority say that this company absolutely delivers on its promises. We were really impressed by the praise and feedback from those who have used US Global Mail for 2, 5, even 14+ years; those typically come from people working abroad who rely on US Global Mail to keep them updated on all of their stateside deliveries.

Top-notch customer support

Another common compliment is directed towards the company's customer service team: "immediate response”, "rapid and correct help”, and "highly responsive” are just some of the phrases that stood out to us. That's not a given in the mail scanning industry, so it's wonderful to see that US Global Mail has a fantastic track record in that department. You're never trapped interacting with a bot, and US Global Mail doesn't outsource any of their customer support.

#1 pick for mail scanning services

It was a close race for the top spot on our list, but US Global Mail just edged out its closest rival to once again secure our #1 ranking among mail scanning companies. We're super-impressed by US Global Mail's reputation for excellent customer service, and their prices are reasonable and inclusive of a broad range of features. Although you may want to shop around if you expect you'll need a high volume of content scans, US Global Mail is going to be the easy pick for just about anyone needing a reliable mail scanning service.

Mail Scanning Service FAQ

Mail scanning services give you a physical address where you can have all of your mail sent and scanned. You decide if you want each piece of mail saved, recycled or shredded, or forwarded to you.
Many people use mail scanning services if they travel frequently: people who spend a good part of the year going around the country in an RV, those who are regularly overseas for work, and so on. You can also use a mail scanning service if you value your privacy and don't want companies to have your residential address.
Some mail scanning companies include check depositing, junk mail shredding, and package opening/inspection. That might be part of your monthly fees or available as an a la carte service.
Yes and no. That depends on the mail scanning company you choose and what they have available. For example, one company allows you to choose an address in Las Vegas, Dallas, Orlando, Laguna Beach or New York - but keep in mind that your pricing may vary according to the city you select. Also, some companies outsource to other providers (like the UPS Store) so your address may be determined that way.
Almost every mail scanning service gives you an online dashboard for not only viewing your mail but also indicating what you want to do with it (like save, forward, or shred). Be aware that some providers only scan the outer envelope as part of your package; you might have to pay extra to have the contents scanned and uploaded to your dashboard.
If you choose a mail scanning service with a PO Box, you might only be able to receive envelope mail: no packages. However, most providers give you address options that would allow you to get deliveries from FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS. It could cost extra to have your mail scanning provider open the package and inform you of the contents.
That's easy! You indicate in your online dashboard if you want a piece of mail forwarded to you, and you specify the address where it should go.
How does $8/month sound? You can get basic mail scanning services for an individual for about that much. Your costs will depend on how much mail you get each month, how many extra services you want included in your plan, and which provider you choose. And, of course, if you're using this service for a large business, expect to pay quite a bit more: up to $180/month!

Continued from above...

Most providers let you decide what to do with each piece of mail - store it, forward it, or have it securely shredded. Some even offer access to their features from a convenient online dashboard.

How much do mail scanning services typically cost? Pricing can be a bit tricky. Some services bundle almost everything into a single monthly fee, while others have tiered plans or charge a la carte for many features like extra scans, check depositing, or package forwarding. It's important to clarify what's included upfront, so you don't end up with unexpected fees. Depending on your volume of mail and the services you need, the total cost can vary significantly, so you'll want to compare the value provided by each mail scanning provider.

There are quite a few options for mail scanning out there today. Confused by which one is right for you? To help you narrow them down, consider these criteria:

  • Focus. Is the mail scanning service geared towards individuals and families or businesses and organizations? Those needs are very different!
  • Ease of use. Is the platform user-friendly, and can you access it from your devices?
  • Service options. Does it offer features like forwarding, shredding, or package handling? What about depositing checks with your bank? Are you able to choose an address in the state you prefer? Make sure the mail scanning service comes with all the capabilities you're likely to use.
  • Cost structure. Are the pricing plans straightforward, or will you encounter hidden fees? Do you get a lot for what you pay, or will you be tacking on a lot of a la carte services?
  • Reputation. How responsive is the company if you need help or have an issue? Does the service have a favorable rating from the Better Business Bureau? Is it known for having mail go missing on a regular basis?
