Founded in 2018, Quince offers high-quality clothing, accessories, and home goods at significantly lower prices than traditional luxury brands by cutting out the middleman and sourcing products directly from manufacturers. This approach allows them to provide items like cashmere, silk, and leather at affordable prices, often 50% to 80% below market rates. Quince places a lot of emphasis on sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and minimizing waste by shipping directly from factories to customers like you. Their mission is to make high-quality products accessible to everyone, not just a select few, while maintaining a commitment to responsible manufacturing practices.
Luxe fabrics - and free shipping
If you're thinking that means Quince sells more than just your basic knit maternity wear, you'd be right. Just scroll through the clothes for mamas-to-be (and nursing ones too) and you'll see Mongolian cashmere, bamboo, and European linen for starters. Fortunately, you're not going to have to come up with the number of dollar signs you might have been picturing as you read that list: Quince's pricing is reasonable, starting at $34.90 for a 2-pack of cotton t-shirts and going up to $139.90 for a Mongolian cashmere maternity/nursing sweater. Plus, Quince provides free standard shipping on every order, which is a perk we all love to see.
About 100 options that are easy to browse
Generally speaking, you'll find maternity clothing at Quince divided into the categories of Tops, Loungewear, Dresses & Jumpsuits, Bottoms, Intimates, Swimwear, and Bump-Friendly. But, with only 105 items in the inventory when we visited the online store recently, it's probably just as easy to browse everything and see what catches your eye. We love how easy it is to see all of the different color choices available for each item - don't expect anything crazy, because Quince maternity wear tends to be in the neutrals palette - and the average customer rating when available.
No options in plus sizes
One downside to shopping at Quince is the size range. They only carry maternity clothes in XS-XL, topping out at roughly a US size 16. True, many items are stretchy knits and can accommodate a little bit (helpful hint: look towards the bottom of the page for anything you're considering, and it might show you what other shoppers said about whether or not it runs large), but it's disappointing to see no options for plus size mamas-to-be here.
365-day return window... sort of
Then again, Quince's return policy is extremely generous. You've got 365 days to send back anything you buy, as long as it's in unworn, new condition. We love the idea of being able to stock up on maternity clothes early in the first trimester (before anyone but you even knows) without worrying that you're stuck with it if it doesn't fit quite right once the bump is bumping. One thing to keep in mind, though: this 365-day window can be superseded by your payment method's return policy. For example, if PayPal only allows for refunds within 180 days, that will mean you can only get Quince store credit on day 181.
Two-thirds love this store, but the rest say "not a fan”
It was a disappointment to see that Quince earned a "D-” from the Better Business Bureau, for receiving 63 complaints and failing to respond to one of them. Those problems are almost always related to delivery issues: packages not being delivered (on time or at all), items mysteriously going out of stock after being marked as ready for shipping, and so on. Over on Trustpilot, Quince's reputation is more positive: a 4-star average across 250 reviews. But, the split is pretty definitive, with 66% offering a glowing 5-star rating, and 23% saying that the retailer only deserves one star. In other words, you're either going to love or hate your shopping experience at Quince.
Has some room for improvement
At the end of the day, Quince isn't the best or the worst place to shop for maternity clothes. If sustainability is one of your top priorities and you like dressing in neutral colors, you might really love the vibe at this retailer. On the other hand, there's not as much to choose from here - in terms of fabrics, colors, and sizes - and even a 365-day return window can't make up for packages that never get delivered. We'd recommend looking a little higher on our list first and keeping Quince as a backup option.
Maternity fashion has come a long way from the oversized, shapeless pieces of the past. Today, you have stylish, comfortable, and confidence-boosting options that keep up with the latest trends while accommodating your growing bump. You can choose anything from chic wrap dresses and flowy maxi styles to trendy maternity jeans with flexible waistbands and cozy loungewear that doesn't sacrifice style.
There's no shortage of fashionable ways to celebrate your pregnancy. You'll also find fun seasonal updates, like sweater dresses and knit sets for colder months or breezy, belly-friendly sundresses when the weather warms up. And if you're looking for something extra special, maternity brands now offer on-trend activewear, work-appropriate styles, and even formalwear for weddings or baby showers.
Shopping for maternity clothes online makes the process even better. Instead of hunting through limited in-store selections, you can browse entire collections from the comfort of home - especially helpful as your pregnancy progresses and you'd rather skip the mall. Online retailers also have more size inclusivity, better deals, and convenient features like size charts and flexible return policies.
Shopping online also makes it easier to compare prices. You can quickly look at different websites to see which one offers the best deal. Many online stores have customer reviews, so you can get an idea of the quality of the clothes before buying. This helps you find affordable maternity clothes that fit your needs without spending more than you want to.
Plus, reading customer reviews from other expecting moms gives you a better sense of fit and comfort before you buy. Whether you need a few basics or want a full wardrobe refresh, online maternity stores give you access to cute and practical pieces without the hassle.
Of course, not all retailers of maternity clothes are created equal. When deciding where to shop, keep these key factors in mind:
