  • Strong focus on ethical manufacturing, sustainability, long-lasting apparel, and community

If your best friend with years of experience as a mom opened a maternity clothes store and said, "Come on in. I've got you, girl”, it would feel exactly like it does to shop at Storq. Every size, shape, and color of mama (expectant and already delivered) is welcome here, and that's reflected in the photos, videos, and even the tone of the whole site. Can you tell we really love this company? Do yourself a favor and go to the "About” section: you'll see everything that goes into the thoughtful design, ethical manufacturing, sustainability, and community mission of Storq, and you'll fall in love too.

Simplicity, on purpose

The maternity wear at Storq isn't going to overwhelm you with hundreds of prints and fabrics to choose from, with just 27 items of maternity clothing and 18 in the nursing/postpartum section. Instead, everything they sell is meant to be foundational and classic, comfortable, long-lasting, and interchangeable. That's perfectly highlighted in their 4-Piece Maternity Capsule wardrobe, which consists of one pair of Black Signature Leggings, one Black Everlasting Tank Dress, one White Easy Button-Up, and one Black Anytime Overalls. It's priced at $288, but it saves you $100 over buying each piece separately. Just think of the possibilities: maybe you wear the button-up and the leggings one day, the tank dress while those are in the wash, and then the button up with the overalls on the third day. When you don't feel like you have a brain cell left to decide what to wear, Storq gently takes over and makes your day easier. Ahhhh...

Best Maternity Clothes Stores

Most size-inclusive maternity clothes store we've found

We're also very appreciative of Storq's size-inclusivity. Although you might have to add yourself to the waitlist to be notified for certain items and sizes to come back into stock, you'll find maternity clothing in everything from an XS to 4XL here - and they say that they're always looking at customer demand to determine if even more sizes should be added to their inventory.

A little more expensive than most for shipping and package protection

You'll have to spend a bit at Storq to qualify for free shipping - over $125, to be exact. Orders under that total will have the delivery cost calculated at checkout. You may also want to opt for package protection: it's automatically selected for you, and you can uncheck the box, but Storq won't take responsibility for lost or stolen packages if you do that. It's a fairly common policy for smaller businesses like this one, but it can make your order here a little more costly than at larger maternity clothing stores.

Not the most generous return policy

Storq's return policy is fairly average. You've got 30 days from the date of your order (not its arrival date on your doorstep) to return or exchange your maternity clothes. Exchanges or store credit are always fee-free, and Storq will give you an extra $10 in store credit if you go that route. Otherwise, you can print off a return label ($9.95 shipping/return fee) or drop off your package at a Happy Returns Bar near you ($5.95 fee). Also, pay close attention to products marked "final sale”: there were quite a few of those during our most recent visit to the Storq website, and those aren't eligible for any returns, exchanges, or store credit.

Best Maternity Clothes Stores

Lots of 5-star reviews for the clothes and the store

While we were surprised not to find a listing with the Better Business Bureau for Storq, especially with a California mailing address, we're not concerned. There are thousands of independently-verified 5-star reviews for its maternity clothing and for the retailer itself. Here are some of the highlights:

  • "This bra is the most comfortable one I own”
  • "So soft and comfortable for every day and sleep”
  • "If you're on the fence, get it! I tried some of their other bras and for value for money this is the best by far. Skip the others and go for this! Super comfy, makes me feel put together when really I just feel like a slob” (We feel ya, Mama...)

A maternity clothes store you'll feel good about

Although we can't put Storq at the top of our list due to its really small selection of maternity and nursing/postpartum clothes - because yes, we might need a swimsuit or a blazer, and that's just not what Storq is about (yet?) - we can't say enough good things about the way Storq takes care of women, from bump to birth to breastfeeding (or bottle feeding; they don't judge). Our recommendation? Hit up Storq first to get all of the comfy-cozies you need from a company you'll be thrilled to support, then jump over to our other highly-rated maternity clothing retailers for whatever's still left on your list.

Maternity Clothes Store FAQ

Maternity clothes are meant for pregnant women whose bodies are changing as their baby grows. Most people don't comfortably fit in their jeans, skirts, dresses, or even some shirts as their pregnancy progresses, and they need some stretchy clothing for a few months. Maternity clothes often have comfortable elastic bands that fit around a growing belly so there isn't any pressure from them being too tight. They look just like regular clothing you wear day-to-day, but the sizing is adjusted to fit comfortably throughout pregnancy.
Most people wondering if they really need to buy maternity clothes just found out they're pregnant, still fit in their normal clothes, or haven't hit the hot, uncomfortable stages of pregnancy where all you want to wear are sweats! Either that or they haven't seen how many cute styles there are. Of course, you don't have to buy maternity clothes, but it will make your pregnancy a whole lot more comfortable! Plus, who doesn't love a good excuse for new clothes?
Some people feel like they need a new wardrobe as early as 2 or 3 months into their pregnancy. This is when pants start feeling tighter, shirts might not fully cover your baby bump, and you just want to feel comfortable. As soon as you start having a sensation of feeling like your clothing is too tight around your body, you should move over to wearing maternity clothes for the rest of your pregnancy.
Maternity sizes work the same as regular clothing sizes, but they are automatically adjusted to fit around your growing belly. If you're normally a size medium in the clothing you buy, you'll still be a size medium even in maternity clothes. The same goes for numeric sizes. If you were a size 6 pre-pregnancy, you'll most likely be a size 6 in maternity as well.
The most popular maternity clothing you'll find are pants, skirts, dresses, shorts, and shirts. There are usually stretchy bands along the top of any skirts or bottoms that hug your belly comfortably. You can find just as stylish maternity clothes as the regular clothes you're already wearing. You'll be the cutest pregnant mama in your maternity clothes!
Maternity clothes have come a long way! There are so many trendy styles now that you could get away with wearing them even when you aren't pregnant. Of course, you'll also probably stick to wearing maternity clothes for a few months after you give birth until you feel like you fit into your normal clothes again. Maternity clothes are extremely comfortable and breathable, so sometimes it's hard to give them up!
Since maternity clothes are made a little differently than regular clothes, you might pay a slightly higher price for certain things than you would normally. However, this isn't always the case and you can expect to budget a similar amount for maternity clothes as you would for non-maternity clothes. You can also score some great deals in the sale categories online if you take the time to look.
Yes! Think of shopping for maternity clothes the same as you would for regular clothes. All clothing stores offer some kind of return policy that allows you to send back new and unused items for a full refund or exchange. If you try on your maternity clothes and find you need a different size, don't worry! Send them back, get a refund or store credit, and get the size you need. Shopping online for maternity clothes is both easy and fun!

Shopping for maternity clothes online makes the process even better. Instead of hunting through limited in-store selections, you can browse entire collections from the comfort of home - especially helpful as your pregnancy progresses and you'd rather skip the mall. Online retailers also have more size inclusivity, better deals, and convenient features like size charts and flexible return policies.

Shopping online also makes it easier to compare prices. You can quickly look at different websites to see which one offers the best deal. Many online stores have customer reviews, so you can get an idea of the quality of the clothes before buying. This helps you find affordable maternity clothes that fit your needs without spending more than you want to.

Plus, reading customer reviews from other expecting moms gives you a better sense of fit and comfort before you buy. Whether you need a few basics or want a full wardrobe refresh, online maternity stores give you access to cute and practical pieces without the hassle.

Of course, not all retailers of maternity clothes are created equal. When deciding where to shop, keep these key factors in mind:

  • Comfort and fit. Maternity clothes should move with you, not work against you. Look for stores that have options with soft, breathable fabrics, adjustable waistbands, and stretch-friendly materials that accommodate your changing shape.
  • Style. Whether you love minimalist basics, trendy statement pieces, or a mix of both, check if the retailer offers styles that match your personal taste. A good maternity store should have variety, from casual essentials to dressier options.
  • Price and value. Pregnancy is temporary, but that doesn't mean you want to overspend on clothes you'll only wear for a few months - or that might need to last and still be looking good for your next pregnancy. Look for stores that balance quality and affordability, and consider brands offering mix-and-match pieces that extend your wardrobe.
  • Shipping and returns. Since sizing can be tricky, choose a retailer with reasonable shipping rates, easy exchanges, and a fair return policy - just in case something doesn't fit quite right.
  • Customer reviews and reputation. A quick scan of customer reviews can tell you a lot about sizing accuracy, fabric feel, and overall satisfaction with individual pieces of maternity clothing. Beyond that, stick with retailers that have positive feedback and a reputation for good service.

The right wardrobe can keep you feeling confident and supported throughout your pregnancy, so the experts at Top Consumer Reviews have reviewed and ranked some of today's most popular retailers of maternity clothes. Thanks to online shopping, it's easier than ever to find the perfect fit - and with so many fun and functional maternity styles available online, there's no reason to settle for anything less than clothes that make you feel your best.
