As we placed our order, we were shocked to see the grand total at the end of the process. Our champagne gift basket, for example, went from $199.99 to $263.28. Shipping is not based on weight but on the total amount spent. So, if you buy 12 chocolate-covered Oreos for $39.99, you are going to pay almost double the amount due to shipping (at the time of the review, shipping for this was $34.98 - and that was the lowest option with delivery a few weeks out and didn't include shipping insurance or other fees). If you need rush shipping or guaranteed arrival dates, the shipping price goes up. Gourmet Gift Baskets snuck it in at the end of the process, which happens after they harvest your personal information and within minutes start sending you multiple email ads, whether you end up purchasing from Gourmet Gift Baskets or not.
