Life Alert is one of the most well-known medical alert system companies on the market. You'll recognize them by their tagline, "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!" They have 3 simple alert devices you can choose from, but don't provide very much information about them on their website. You can't view pricing online or set up an account, so you'll need to call them on the phone to get this taken care of. Despite our frustration with this, their reviews are hard to compete with. MobileHelp has a lot of similarities to other medical alert system companies. They offer 6 separate packages to keep you in close contact with emergency personnel whether you're at home or away. They don't offer in-depth product details about each one, so you'll need to speak to someone over the phone to learn everything about each device. However, you may also get a discount on your service if you reach out to customer service, so it's a good idea anyway. MobileHelp has competitive pricing, but the best thing about this company is that their customer reviews blew us away. They have an "A" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but also some pretty intense complaints about poor customer service, which has us concerned enough to drop their rating more than we initially would have.

Medihill offers a 30-day trial, so you can test out their service before opting to use it long-term. The main thing missing here is customer reviews. Medihill has an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but hardly anything by way of user feedback. This could be due to the fact that they're a newer medical alert company, but either way they didn't strike us as anything above and beyond what we've seen elsewhere, so they've earned an average rating.

There are 7 medical alert products you can choose from at Alert1. For us this was too many and it started to get confusing as we explored the many similar options. Prices here can either reflect yearly or month-to-month billing, with upgrade options for fall detection and a warranty plan. You don't pay for your device, but there is a one-time activation fee for all plans, and overall the cost for service here is similar to what you'll find elsewhere. Alert1 has some poor reviews about their customer service, billing, and even device issues that are hard to communicate with. Taking all things into consideration, Alert1 isn't one of our recommended choices for medical alert systems.

Lifeline is a pioneer of the medical alert system and has an impressive background. Their service is similar to what we've seen through a lot of their competitors, but their pricing is slightly less straightforward and you will be paying a device/setup fee for every purchase along with shipping if you don't pay a year in advance. Lifeline doesn't go over a warranty on their devices or a return policy, so you'd have to call their customer service for clarification on these important details. Lifeline does have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau and mostly good reviews from customers, so it's not a bad option for a medical alert system, but there are others we like better.
