We often take the ability to walk and run for granted. When you get an injury and need a knee replacement, develop severe arthritis, or find that aging has taken its toll on your ability to walk long distances, it may feel like your life has to come to a standstill. After all, simply getting around the house, running basic errands, or going on a dream vacation all require being able to get to and from independently.
If you're limited in your ability to walk around comfortably, you may be wondering how to get a sense of normalcy back and move forward in life (pun intended). Mobility scooters are a fantastic (and fun) way to reclaim your independence and productivity. There are all types of scooters for both indoor and outdoor terrain as well as different designs to fit your style.

Electric Wheelchairs USA knows their stuff. They have over 180 mobility scooters for customers to choose from, starting at just $599. Their website makes it easy to sort through all their choices and you'll have a lot of fun discovering the unique designs and features of the various scooters. This company has a low-price guarantee, offers free shipping, has unfiltered customer reviews, and offers a 30-day return policy if you change your mind before using your mobility scooter. We recommend taking advantage of their one-on-one consultations to help you pick the best mobility scooter if you need some advice from an expert. There is so much that Electric Wheelchairs USA offers, so they've earned our top rating.
SpinLife is a fabulous place to look for a mobility scooter. They have an informative website that really helps customers understand the differences in features between products, what to look for, and what the pros and cons of different models are. There is a great inventory at SpinLife, much of which is under $1,000. SpinLife has high customer reviews and hundreds of people who have left feedback on any given product. The Better Business Bureau gives SpinLife an "A+” rating and we would too. SpinLife is one of the best stores to visit for a mobility scooter.
Go Mobility is a company that offers mobility scooters, power wheelchairs, lift chairs, hospital beds, and other important mobility products at competitive prices. They offer a low-price guarantee that ensures you won't be charged more through their site than another company's. Shipping is always free here and if you change your mind about your mobility scooter before you've used it and within 30 days of purchase, you can return it. Go Mobility has one of our favorite websites because it is so clear and user-friendly. They also have an "A+” rating from the Better Business Bureau, so they've earned one of our most positive recommendations.
Scooters ‘N Chairs has a decent selection of mobility scooters with a wide range in prices. They have everything from basic, functional mobility scooters to scooters that might as well be cars. They offer free shipping on all orders over $99 and we love that they have (glowing) unfiltered customer reviews on their products. People have great things to say about the products here as well as the customer service and overall experience with Scooters ‘N Chairs. They have an A+'' rating from the Better Business Bureau and we are confident in this company and everything they have to offer.
Hoveround got their start through the innovation of their power and electric wheelchairs that were designed to fit around small corners and in tight spaces, without causing any damage to walls or furniture. They've grown to have several models of their power wheelchairs and a selection of 13 mobility scooters. Hoveround's mobility scooters are nothing fancy, but most of them are under $2,000, which is a decent price for those looking to just get something functional and high-quality (although they don't offer a low price guarantee). There are no customer reviews on any mobility scooters here, but the Better Business Bureau gives Hoveround an "A” rating. We aren't blown away by what's offered here, but it's a reliable place for some people to get an affordable mobility scooter.
All Electric Scooters has been around since 2010 and that's close to when they did their last website updates. Although they have a good selection of mobility scooters, we wish that All Electric Scooters had a more user-friendly website and customer reviews that we could fall back on when choosing between products. We do like that they offer free shipping, have a 200% price match guarantee in place, and will let you return your scooter within 10 days if you're unsatisfied for any reason. This may be a great place to purchase a mobility scooter, but since they don't have a Better Business Bureau rating or a lot of information about themselves anywhere else online, they haven't earned a top spot here.
Scooter Supermarket has a small but impressively priced selection of mostly portable and recreational mobility scooters. They start at just $499, which is unheard of compared to prices we've seen through other mobility scooter retailers. One of the best things is that you'll be able to read through quite a few unfiltered customer reviews here which is relatively rare in this industry. However, some recent third-party reviews make us worried that customer service isn't easy to work with at Scooter Supermarket and that sometimes there are delays with delivery or problems with damage during transit. Having an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau doesn't help either, so despite their good prices and high reviews on their website, Scooter Supermarket lost a few points in our book because of some potential issues customers may experience here.
USM has an impressive inventory of all types of medical supplies and mobility supports, but their mobility scooter selection is pretty basic. There are 38 choices starting at $1,149 and they don't have a low-price guarantee. You only have 10 days to make a return if you need to do so and there aren't many customer reviews here. USM is also not rated by the Better Business Bureau, so we weren't as excited to shop here as we were at other higher-rated stores.
Colonial Medical is home to over 25,000 medical device products. Their categories range from sexual health to diagnostics to mobility and recreation. There are only 22 mobility scooters on their website and we found that the product descriptions were lacking. While they boasted a lifetime warranty on all their scooters, we couldn't read any of the fine print about it. We also found that when we tried to purchase a product, we received an error message and weren't able to proceed through with what was in our cart. There is very little feedback from customers about Colonial Medical, and even though the Better Business Bureau gives them an "A+” rating, they have earned a low score from us and we recommend shopping elsewhere.
Based on Scootaround's company description, they seem most focused on providing repairs and replacements for mobility chairs and scooters at their locations throughout North America. They also have a small selection of mobility scooters, but most of them don't have customer ratings and there is nothing out of the ordinary about them. Prices start at $1,149 and you'll get all the important functionality from what is offered here, but there is no low price guarantee or anything that would reassure us that you're getting a good deal. Scootaround has an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau, which is also concerning to us. It seems that they offer some good services, but selling mobility scooters isn't one of their top priorities. Go with a higher-rated retailer instead.
There are a range of features you can look for on a mobility scooter like 3 or 4 wheels, LED safety lights, upgraded suspension, oversized baskets and more. Do you need one that can easily fit in and out of your vehicle? How long will you need it to go on a single charge?
Some scooters have weight maximums, so pay close attention to that detail too. It may help to jot down a list of all the most important features you need your mobility scooter to come with before you jump online, so that you know exactly what to be searching for.
Since mobility scooters have become increasingly popular over the years, you'll find that there are quite a few retailers to choose from. These companies usually arrange their selection by 3- or 4-wheel scooters, travel scooters, heavy-duty scooters, accessories, lifts, trailers, and more. Ideally you'll find a retailer that lets you filter by price so you can easily identify all the choices within your budget. You'll want to shop from a reputable store that gives every detail you'd want to know before spending a few thousand dollars on a mobility scooter.
