However, nothing here really seems "bottom of the barrel” either. The EW-M34 scooter in blue or red costs $1,799 and has a 300 lb. weight capacity, 4.5 mph maximum speed, and a range of 10 miles. The frame comes with a 3-year warranty with 1 year on electronics, 6 months on batteries, and 6 months on the battery charger.

Most unique product we've seen

The most expensive mobility scooter here also happens to be the most interesting one we've seen. Think of the tiniest car you could possibly imagine with a blue, red, or silver body and skinny as can be. That's the Shoprider Flagship Scooter for $13,289. Do yourself a favor, pause here, and look this thing up! This scooter is fully enclosed, so it caters to all-season transportation. It locks with a key, but the doors can be completely removed if you prefer. It has a fully operational lighting system, full suspension, and even a windshield wiper/washer system. It can handle up to 350 lbs, travels up to 7 mph, and can go up to 31 miles on a charge. It's not like anything we've seen before, but we aren't sure that the features alone are worth the high cost.

There aren't a lot by any means, but we were glad to see that Scooters ‘N Chairs has customer reviews on quite a few of their mobility scooters. Most of them are ranked at least 4.5 out of 5 stars or higher, which is fantastic. We looked into a Solax Transformer 2 (automatic folding scooter) for $2,775 and read reviews from 10 people saying things about how the backrest and seat cushion were so comfortable, you can fold and pack it in a split second, it feels strong enough to carry around a heavy weight, and that it's user-friendly and compact. Even though not everyone gave the product a perfect 5 out of 5 stars, every single one of them had nothing but great things to say.

The company prides itself in controlling the manufacturing, design, delivery, and service of their Hoveround chairs.

Few but specialized products

You won't find a big selection of all different types of mobility scooters and power chairs here, since Hoveround has really honed in on a few specific products. They claim to be the first ones who designed a power chair with a narrow, rounded front. This design allows users to easily turn corners and navigate small spaces like bathrooms and hallways without causing any damage to themselves, the walls, furniture, or their power chair. Every chair and scooter is custom-assembled in the USA and comes straight from their warehouses and fully-stocked service vans throughout the country.

Standard options for under $2,000

There are 8 total power wheelchairs you can browse on Hoveround's site. They have 13 mobility scooters as well. Their mobility scooters come with either 3 or 4 wheels and most of them are either black, red, or blue. The style of these scooters is very standard-looking and there are slight ranges in features like their weight capacity, maximum speed, the terrain they're built for, frame size, and operating range. The lowest price you'll find is $799 and the most expensive mobility scooter is $3,625, so the majority of scooters are under $2,000 (which isn't bad).

Basic warranty information

To find out the warranty information for your mobility scooter, visit the "Our Warranty Policy” page and select the model you purchased or plan to purchase. There are three models that have warranty information; otherwise you'll just need to refer to the specifications tab of your product page to see the warranty on the frame, drive train, electrical, and batteries. You won't get as many details this way, but it gives you a good enough idea of how long you have to rely on a warranty for the specific parts of your mobility scooter.

No shipping costs

They don't advertise it on their website, but we found that when we went through the checkout with a mobility scooter in our cart, shipping was free. Hoveround doesn't have a lot of shipping information on their site, so we weren't able to see exactly how long it might take for our mobility scooter to arrive once we paid for it.

15 day return window

If you're unsatisfied with your mobility scooter, Hoveround will let you return it within 15 days of purchase to qualify for a refund. If your order was shipped directly to you, you'll be charged a 25% restocking fee if you return it, and you'll have to pay for return shipping. Normally we whine and moan about restocking fees, but we've found that in the mobility scooter industry, they're extremely common.

Kind and professional customer service team

Hoveround has an "A” rating from the Better Business Bureau. None of their mobility scooters have customer ratings, which is not-so-helpful. We found some third-party reviews from people saying that they were happy with their mobility chair, but not very many. A lot of reviews refer to other products like their power wheelchairs, vehicle lifts, stair lifts, accessories, and bed and bathroom aids. Customers do say that they like working with Hoveround's customer service team and everyone is kind and knowledgeable.

Basic, but a decent choice

If you just want a basic, functional mobility scooter that won't stand out and doesn't have all the bells and whistles, you'll be fine shopping at Hoveround. Their selection is a lot smaller than our highest-rated sites, but it surely will offer good solutions for many people. Their power and electric wheelchairs are the product they started out with and focus the most on, so if you're interested in a power chair instead, definitely check out Hoveround. All Electric Scooters was established in 2000. They boast that they only deal with manufacturers who have a proven track record of reliability and quality. The company doesn't provide a lot of other background information about themselves. Their press room articles date back to 2012 when they announced that their company joined Facebook (this really dates them), they redesigned their website, and they added new products.

Not the prettiest site

It's pretty obvious that All Electric Scooters hasn't updated their website in over 10 years. Some links on their website are broken and they don't have the cleanest website layout, but we know that doesn't mean they don't have good products. There are a lot of different types of mobility scooters here within categories like travel scooters, 3-wheel scooters, 4-wheel scooters, heavy-duty scooters, accessories, lifts, and trailers. The two manufacturers they sell for are Golden Scooters and Pride Scooters.

Plenty of accessories

When you click on a mobility scooter you think you might like, you'll be able to read through a brief description of the product and view a list of product specs like the weight capacity, top speed, distance per charge, tire type, wheel sizes, battery type, seat depth, and more. If the scooter comes in multiple color options, these are shown along with a list of accessories you may want to purchase to spruce up your ride. All Electric Scooters sells things like scooter covers, cup holders, weather breaker canopies, cell phone holders, oxygen tank holders, safety flags, additional mirrors, and many other accessories you might want. Most scooters come with a 1-year warranty, but you could choose to upgrade to a 2-year warranty for a couple hundred dollars more.

View prices low to high

Prices are listed directly on All Electric Scooters' website, but they also have a banner on the top of their website with a phone number that says, "Call for the lowest scooter prices.” It's possible that they have sales or incentives that you could get directly from a salesperson that they don't list online, but this isn't clear. We wish you could view all the mobility scooters at the same time and filter by price, but this isn't an option here. Instead, you'll need to select the type of scooter you want and then you'll see a list of choices starting from least to most expensive (usually from around $1,800 to $4,000). Shipping is always free here, and that's something we love to see.

200% price match guarantee

If you're worried about getting the best price for your mobility scooter, you'll be happy to hear that All Electric Scooters has a 200% price match guarantee. This is something we rarely ever encounter. (Seems like every other business's goal too, if you ask us.) The company has a range of electric scooters, power chairs, and even ebikes. Scooter Supermarket is based out of Las Vegas, Nevada and if you want more about their background or have specific questions about their products, they provide a phone number for their sales and customer support department.

Helpful filtering features

There are options for portable scooters, midsize scooters, and recreational scooters at Scooter Supermarket. Their portable scooters include just 5 options, recreational scooters have 16 choices, and there is just one single option for mid size scooters. We like that on this website you can choose a category and sort your choices by top speed, ground clearance, weight capacity, turning radius, speed control, throttle type, if it's airline approved, and if there are armrests.

Surprisingly low prices

What mostly caught our eye about Scooter Supermarket is their pricing. They have portable scooters starting at just $499 on sale, which is significantly less than we've seen anywhere else. The Deluxe Apollo Mobility Scooter is the cheapest choice and has a 300 lb. weight capacity, top speed of 4.5 mph, and 10 miles of driving range with a 40” turning radius. This isn't the fanciest of scooters by any means, but if you need a quick solution to getting around, especially if it's just temporary, this is a screaming deal. In fact, heavier-duty portable scooters only cost as much as $999 here, so if you'd rather get a scooter with a little bit higher weight capacity (350 lbs.), faster speed of 5 mph, and driving range of 16 miles, it's yours for just a few hundred dollars more.

Zippy recreational scooters

Recreational scooters start at $699 (still an excellent price), but could cost as much as $3,999 for a fun, fancy, unique scooter. Not all of the recreational scooters even look like typical mobility scooters, with one being a 3-wheel "trike” with a basket on the front and back. It costs $1,199, can hold up to 400 lbs, can go 15 mph, drive 20 miles, and has a 75” turning radius. This is definitely not a great choice for using around the house, but it would be a cute and fun option for getting around town and picking up your groceries.

15-day return policy

Shipping is free on all mobility scooters from Scooter Supermarket. If you receive your scooter and decide you want to switch it out for a different one or no longer need it, you can contact Scooter Supermarket by phone and initiate a return within 15 days of purchase. Your scooter must be shipped in its original packaging with no damage or signs of use. You'll be responsible for the cost of shipping the scooter back and will need to pay a 20% restocking fee as well.

Impressive customer reviews

It was refreshing to finally find a site that had quite a few customer ratings on their products. For example, their least expensive scooter had 71 reviews we could read through. Customers noted that they were happy to find the perfect combination of affordability and quality. Others said the product was easy to transport, some commented on how well the battery lasted, and people were thrilled with how comfortable it was. Overall the scooter had a 4.9 out of 5 star rating. We found other mobility scooters with 14-32 ratings. Compared to other companies that often have no ratings on their products, this was exciting for us to see.

Might come down to luck

Disappointingly, Scooter Supermarket has an "F” rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The most recent third-party reviews didn't instill a lot of confidence in us either since many reported receiving damaged products, slow correspondence from customer service, slow delivery, and other frustrations. This is confusing since their product reviews are overall quite impressive. Intrigued by pricing

We're mostly intrigued by Scooter Supermarket because their prices are hard to beat. They don't have a low-price guarantee, but they probably don't need one when their prices already seem so much more competitive than what we've found elsewhere. If you order and receive your mobility scooter here without a hitch, you'll get a great deal and probably a high-quality machine. However, we're concerned about their low rating from the BBB and some recent third-party reports about order issues, which is why Scooter Supermarket has only earned an average rating from us.

USM is one of the biggest suppliers of mobility and medical products with over 12,000 choices at discount prices. When customers are shopping online, USM encourages them to call one of their experts to discuss their options if they have any questions along the way. USM was founded in 2004 by a group of retail executives with over 30 combined years of experience in mobility and medical products. The company is headquartered in Raleigh, NC and prides itself in being an industry expert. Their inventory includes lifts (chair lifts, dumbwaiters, elevators, pool lifts, stair lifts), lift chairs, mobility wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, and home care products.

In total, there are 38 mobility scooters here, all of which show highlights about the weight capacity, overall length, overall width, turning radius, maximum speed, and ground clearance. The overall design of this website doesn't feel as clean and neat as some others, but as long as they provide all the important details about each scooter, we won't complain too much.

Solid range of product features

For $1,149 you'll be able to get the Pride Go-Go Ultra X-3 Wheel Travel Scooter with a maximum speed of 4 mph, a 300 lb. weight capacity, and a 36.5” turning radius. It comes in plain black, has 3 wheels, and is the least expensive mobility scooter you'll find here. The Pride Baja Wrangler 2 4-Wheel Scooter is the most expensive at $5,349 with a 350 lb. weight capacity, a 94.75” turning radius, and maximum speed of 11 mph. This scooter is meant for utility and durability and reminds us a bit of a traditional 4-wheeler. In between these two choices is something priced more in the middle at $2,080. For this price you can get the Golden Buzzaround CarryOn with a 300 lb. weight capacity, maximum speed of 3.6 mph, and 48.75” turning radius. It's approved for use on cruise ships and is made to be taken apart easily for transport. All color choices, product specifications, accessory options, and product descriptions are shown on each product page so you can decide which mobility scooter will best fit the bill.

10-day return window

All mobility scooters qualify for free shipping, but if you want the white glove delivery option where the company will deliver your mobility scooter to your door and fully assemble it, you'll likely have to pay an extra few hundred dollars. The cost of this is provided at the bottom of each product listing. After delivery, USM offers a short 10-day return window. However, there is only a 15% restocking fee, which is slightly less than we've seen through most other places. If you cancel your mobility scooter order before it has shipped from the warehouse, there is a $50 fee.

Call for potential discounts

There isn't a low price guarantee listed on USM's website, but they do list in a few places that you can call their product experts before making a purchase to see if they are running any special offers on lift chairs, mobility scooters, and power wheelchairs. We recommend doing this, because it wouldn't hurt to ask for a discount code and see if you can save a bit. Few customer reviews

Some of the mobility scooters have a handful of customer reviews, while others don't have any yet. If you're lucky and are considering a scooter that has buyer feedback, definitely refer to this to learn about all of its pros and cons. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find a Better Business Bureau rating for USM or very many third-party ratings beyond the BBB.

Not as exciting as competitors

We like that USM is home to so many mobility products and special equipment to make someone's home life feel as independent as possible. Their mobility scooters in particular seem good, but they aren't necessarily much more exciting or cheaper than what we've seen through other companies. We don't love their website as much and we can't be sure that you're getting the best deal here, so USM has earned an average rating.

Colonial Medical has a lot of experience under their belt since they've been around since 1984. The company originally focused their efforts on fall safety and worked directly with nursing homes. Over the years they've added a variety of products to their inventory for bath safety, mobility, diagnostics, and aids for daily living. There are over 25,000 products you can buy from Colonial Medical, depending on your needs.

Few scooters, poor web features

There are 41 results for mobility scooters from Colonial Medical. However, some of these results yielded things like armrest bags, power scooter covers, elevating legrest brackets, a trailer, and an arm tote. So realistically, there are only about 22 scooter choices here. We wish there were options to narrow these down by features or price, but there really aren't. You can sort the full selection by prices from lowest to highest and shop that way, but otherwise you'll have to look through all the choices and click through the product descriptions to learn the differences between them.

Prices vary based on product specs

The least expensive mobility scooter from Colonial Medical is the Bobcat X3 Compact Transportable Power 3-Wheel Mobility Scooter for $831.67. It's very lightweight and basic with a battery life up to 7.5 miles and a max speed of 4 mph. On the other end, you could really ride in style with the Maverick Executive Three Wheel Power Scooter that reminds us of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. This mobility scooter has a price tag of $5,676.17 with a top speed of 9.5 mph and a cruising range of 35 miles.

Detail-less lifetime warranty

We noticed that some of the mobility scooters qualify for free shipping, which is great. They also come with a lifetime warranty and we don't see this very often. Unfortunately, we aren't sure of all the details on this warranty since Colonial Medical's website doesn't say anything else about it, besides the fact that the scooter comes with it. But assuming the best from Colonial Medical, it would be fantastic to have a lifetime warranty to fall back on in case there were any sort of mechanical or electrical issues during the lifetime of your product. The mobility scooters aren't eligible for returns, so in some ways, a lifetime warranty could make up for that.

Couldn't check out

A huge glitch we ran into on Colonial Medical's website is that when we finally selected a mobility scooter we wanted to buy, we received an error message saying, "The shopping cart is temporarily disabled for maintenance and will be back up shortly.” We hope that by the time you're reading this, the issue has been resolved. Otherwise we can only assume that the company actually has low stock or other issues that they are stalling to resolve.

Limited company ratings

We didn't find any mobility scooters that had customer ratings on them, which was disappointing. It appears that if you make a purchase here, you can go back and leave your feedback, but that hasn't happened. We were happy to see that the Better Business Bureau gives this company an "A+” rating, though. Outside of this, there isn't a lot of hype around this company or places where people have come to report their experiences.

We have our reservations

Overall, Colonial Medical isn't one of our favorite choices for mobility scooters for a few reasons. The first is that they don't have a very big selection. They might have exactly what you need, but even then, they don't have all the details we'd want to see, like how much the warranty covers or how much assembly is required. There are no customer reviews on any products, and in the end we weren't even able to buy anything anyway. For now, we recommend buying your mobility scooter from a higher-rated company for a more smooth and reliable experience.

There are tons of categories for mobility scooters from Scootaround like transportable/folding, full size, 3-wheel full size, 4-wheel full size, 3-wheel heavy duty, 4-wheel heavy duty, and more. However, when we chose to view a full list of all the scooters, we realized there are actually only 12 of them in total. The same goes for electric wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, and rollators and walkers. There are only 9-12 choices for each of these types of mobility products, so you won't find a huge selection here.

FSA/HSA eligible mobility scooters

The black Pride Go-Go Ultra X-3 Wheel scooter is the least expensive option you can find for mobility scooters. Since it costs $1,149 (well over the $50 free shipping benchmark), it qualifies for free delivery. It's FSA/HSA eligible (like most scooters here) with a maximum speed of 4.3 mph, 8-mile range per charge, and 300 lb. weight capacity. The Price Baja Wrangler 2 costs the most money, coming in at $5,349. It can go 11 to 11.4 mph, drive up to 26.2 miles on a single charge, and hold up to 450 pounds.

Consider accessories

With every mobility scooter you view, Scootaround will show you a list of product accessories you might consider to go along with your purchase. Some of these include walker holders, oxygen tank holders, and attachable baskets. You can quickly view the key specs for each scooter to easily compare major differences between the different models and brands. You can read all the detailed specs, warranty information, and an overview of the product along with a list of photos. We liked that some photos showed the mobility scooter from different angles, folded up, and in pieces so you can see how many parts need to be assembled.

Return within 30 days

If for any reason you aren't satisfied with your purchase from Scootaround, they'll allow you to send it back within 30 days for a full refund, minus shipping and restocking fees. The original receipt needs to be included with the original packaging when you send back your scooter. Everything must be in new, unused condition. The restocking fee for mobility scooters is actually a bit less than what we've found in other places. Although restocking fees are never ideal, you'll only have to pay 10% of your total order here, whereas we've seen 20% and 25% restocking fees elsewhere.

Unreliable customer reviews

We wish more customers left reviews on the mobility scooters they purchase from Scootaround. We found one single review on a Golden Buzzaround LX 4-Wheel Scooter that sells for $2,555. It looks like your staple, everyday mobility scooter with all the basic features you'd need day-to-day. However, the only review (granted this was from a couple years ago) was from a paraplegic Army-retiree who said he's had endless issues with his scooter, and whenever he contacts customer service they tell him to take it to a service location where he will need to pay out of pocket for the repairs even though it was under warranty. Obviously we don't know all the details here, but when there are few reviews on products and the ones we find are negative, it makes us worried. To be fair, there are also a couple of scooters with one 4- and 5-star review as well. In short, it's hard to gather the quality and reliability of these mobility scooters from the customer reviews on their website alone.

Poor BBB rating

When we looked to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for a rating on Scootaround, we found a lousy "F” and weren't pleased with that. This was due to their failure to respond to 3 complaints, so it doesn't speak volumes about the company, but we'd still like to see a higher rating. The best third-party reviews we found for this store were from people who have used their rental program. Unfortunately, Scootaround's website doesn't give details about this or make it seem like any of the mobility scooters listed online are available for renting.

Our last-place choice

Overall, Scootaround doesn't have as wide of an inventory as we've found elsewhere. The 12 choices they have for mobility scooters might be just what someone needs, but they don't come in unique models or designs and we don't have solid ratings about the company of the scooters here to make us feel confident in what your experience might be. We also wish that Scootaround had some sort of low-price guarantee to keep them competitive with other companies. We'd recommend going with a more reliable retailer of mobility scooters (like the ones you'll find at the top of our list).
