UPack has been in business for 26 years and is the 2015 winner of the Torch Award for Ethics. With an "A+” rating and accreditation from the BBB, the company stands out among the competition for being a reliable business.
Pack it up yourself
First off, understand that UPack is a self-packing service. The company delivers the truck bed with a ramp and you are able to pack it yourself. You can take up to 3 days to load the container before UPack takes your items to your new location and 3 days to unload the container after the truck is delivered. With options like cross-country, military, student, and senior moving options, they stand out as a customer-focused company with individual needs in mind. The price for a move isn't available on the website unless you submit your personal information for a quote.
Moving options
With a variety of people-first options, UPack has a comprehensive list of services. Some of these include:
We really like that they offer tips and tricks for all of the UPack move types so that customers feel like their particular move has been considered by the UPack staff.
Delivery options
On top of move options, UPack also offers four delivery options:
Support for seniors and military
One thing that stands out about UPack is the way they provide every detail for military moves. Promising discounted rates for military move prices and weight tickets (which are needed for service members to get reimbursed by the military for their move), it's clear UPack is familiar with the military move process. As another stand-out option, UPack offers senior moves that are designed with extra support for the self-moving senior to a variety of locations. UPack also focuses on managing costs to help seniors on fixed incomes save money.
Mid-range reviews with conflicting opinions
UPack averages about 3 stars across different third-party sites with a more than 50% positive rating. However, they are also accredited by the BBB and have an "A+” rating. Happy customers of UPack noted that they felt like they were getting a great value for the price. The trucks offered "maximum size for the cost” of the move, and customers appreciated that they felt like they were getting their money's worth. Other clients also noted that they felt the price was fair for the service, and that they weren't being overcharged by UPack for what they got out of the move. Common keywords for positive reviews include "timely,” "courteous,” and "fair price.”
Frustrations with customer service
However, negative reviews noted that their items arrived with several of them broken after the move. Others noted that they felt frustrated with the customer service and that the quoted prices changed later during the move. One reviewer complained that all of her appliances were broken after being handled by UPack.
Good value for money
Across the board, UPack is a nice middle-ground option. With some conflicting reviews, it doesn't make it to the top of our review, but multiple positive reviews noted that this company was a great value for your money. So, if you're balancing quotes, it might be worth it to reach out to UPack and see what they say about your move. If you're worried about broken items, make sure you bring up liability with them during the initial conversation and confirm prices with a contract.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the average person moves about 11.7 times in their lifetime. Younger adults tend to move more frequently than older adults. Those who rent move more frequently than homeowners, although they usually have fewer items to move and lower costs. The most popular reasons for people to move include job changes, housing affordability, and family changes/marriage.

However, the fees can vary widely depending on the location, the time of year, and the specific services you take advantage of. Some additional services that can affect the cost of a move include packing and unpacking, loading and unloading, and storage. It is also important to keep in mind that many moving companies will charge additional fees for things like stairs, elevators, long carry, or bulky items.
