There's no other platform that gives you so much for free, whether you want to do a workout with Gabrielle Union or take a live yoga class. There are over two dozen categories to choose from, including traditional favorites like HIIT and Yoga as well as more unique options for Self-Defense and even working out with kids. Plus, if you need a little social motivation to stay on track, FitOn incorporates that seamlessly with a news feed, challenges, leaderboards and more. While the paid membership here isn't our #1 pick, FitOn earns our highest recommendation for all of its free-to-use content.
For anyone who wants to incorporate exercise and nutrition into their overall wellness plan, Jillian Michaels' Fitness App is the way to go. Get expert guidance for your next gym session, home workout, and meal planning at an affordable monthly price. This is our favorite paid option for online fitness.
Whether you want to get serious or social with your training - or both - the SHRED app is an excellent place to start, especially if you're interested in building strength. One of the newer online fitness apps on the market, SHRED covers all of the bases from cardio to lifting but also lets you incorporate your online and IRL friends with workout "parties”, group leaderboards, and more. Thousands of people give SHRED a perfect five-star rating (especially iPhone users), and we encourage you to take advantage of the one-week free trial to see if it works for you too.
Aaptiv gives you the ability to do a workout video or follow an audio session - like having a coach right by your side the next time you get on the treadmill or hit the trails for a run. You also aren't dependent on your gym's Wifi or your cell connection: download your workouts and use them whenever you want. Although you won't get any advice for the nutrition side of your wellness goals here, Aaptiv is an excellent, affordable choice for online fitness.
Fitness for all is the motivation behind everything you'll find at Fitness Blender. You can access hundreds of carefully-designed workouts, with new content added regularly, at no cost and without even creating an account. Registering as a user comes with benefits, and you can maximize your experience on this fitness platform with a low-cost monthly membership. It's not the most cutting-edge user experience here, but Fitness Blender is a solid choice if your budget is limited.
Daily Burn focuses on 30-minute workouts, with thousands of on-demand sessions ranging from Cardio to Stretching and a daily live class at 9am est (which you can always watch on replay too). This online fitness platform offers a 30-day free trial, but you'll have to enter your credit card info before you can see much of anything about how Daily Burn works. Feedback for this service is mixed: some members have used it regularly and loved it for years, while others don't think the workouts are suitable for more advanced fitness levels. Check out Daily Burn's more highly-rated competitors first, and circle back here if you don't get what you need elsewhere.
Beachbody On Demand can feel a little overwhelming as you try to figure out which program to follow. Fortunately, both memberships include access to a 1:1 coach if you need some advice. Pricing can be convoluted here, and recent ratings from users say that the app can be a huge hassle to use. Your money might be better spent on a different online fitness platform unless you really love Beachbody On Demand's instructors and programs.
Booya Fitness aims to bring the most popular studio workouts right to you, from Barre to Bootcamp. While there's still a lot to love here, like a one-month free trial and playlists drawn from today's top tracks, you'll find a much broader library of workouts with most of Booya's rivals in our review. You've got nothing to lose by taking advantage of the free trial, but you'll likely wind up looking beyond Booya Fitness for a bigger variety of exercise options.
Obé hopes that you'll use its online fitness platform to "fall in love with daily movement”, with its daily schedule of live streamed classes and on-demand library of over 10,000 workouts ranging from Dance Cardio to Evening Yoga. While some people swear by obé, others have had issues with the app and with the company's customer service (or lack of it). For a service that only comes with a 7-day trial and costs more than most rivals at $24.99/month, obé comes in as just average for online fitness.
The Transform App is a mixed bag when it comes to online fitness. On the one hand, it gives you access to both workouts and nutritional guidance for your journey towards weight loss, maintenance, or muscle gain. However, you have to choose one of those paths to even use this app, there are no live classes, and Android users in particular say that Transform is almost too glitchy to function. You could try this online fitness service for the free one-week trial, but there are better options you should consider first.
All Out Studio comes with workouts featured in Men's Fitness, Women's Fitness, Runner's World and several other top publications. You might like this online fitness platform if you already enjoy those magazines and have some experience with exercise, but with only a few hundred workouts, even you might be bored here. Users aren't very impressed with the on-demand classes here, and there's not a ton of current feedback. All Out Studio doesn't have much to offer compared with higher-ranked options for online fitness.
The idea behind Centr isn't bad: take Chris Hemsworth's team of experts and offer their workouts and nutritional advice to the world. Unfortunately, the delivery is subpar compared with other online fitness options: the workouts themselves tend to be basic and boring, the meal plan recipes are often unrealistic, and many people have found themselves locked into an annual membership they never asked for - despite canceling during the free trial period. Even being able to work out with Thor himself isn't enough reason to use Centr.
Either way, most online fitness platforms work in roughly the same way: take advantage of a free trial, then decide if a paid membership is right for you. On a budget? No problem: there are several excellent choices that let you access tons of workouts at no cost. Yes, you'll probably be invited to upgrade to a paid plan, but feel free to ignore that and work out using just the regular content and tools.
