On the Sfoglini website

Sfoglini is a brand you might recognize if you're a frequent shopper at green and whole-food marketplaces for your groceries. Sold primarily at stores like Whole Foods, The Fresh Market, FreshDirect, Wild Nature Market, and more, you might have seen (and enjoyed) Sfoglini pasta before. This pasta specialist (pronounced Sfo-lee-nee) is known for its grain pasta made from semolina sourced from local flour mills in the USA. All of the pasta flavors are made and packaged in Hudson Valley, New York, and offer an impressive variety of boxed pasta shapes for you to enjoy.

Two memberships and quarterly shipments

There are two pasta club lengths to choose from at Sfoglini: the Half-Year of Pasta and the Year of Pasta. These are prepaid subscriptions, and at this point in time Sfoglini does not offer a month-to-month plan. Regardless of the shipment length you choose, you will get deliveries quarterly, and the subscriptions do not auto-renew. This makes the Sfoglini pasta subscriptions particularly great as gifts.

Best Pasta of the Month Clubs

Six pastas in every box

Each box includes six slow-dried kinds of pasta with a mix of semolina bases, specialty grains, and unique flavors. All of the boxes include recipes to help you turn your Sfoglini boxes into full meals. The breakdown of pasta types includes 3 total semolina pasta styles and 3 special pasta flavors (with limited edition flavors). Here are some of the pastas we saw in the listings for the clubs:

  • Rigatoni (semolina)
  • Rye Trumpets
  • Saffron Malloreddus
  • Whole Grain Reginetti
  • Einkorn Macaroni

Pricing from $110 to $215 prepaid

Sfoglini's pasta clubs are prepaid, so the full price includes the entire period you choose. The Half-Year Pasta of Pasta costs $110. This will be two shipments (one every quarter from when you start) which makes it a total shipment of 12 pastas. The Year of Pasta club costs $215 and also ships quarterly and at 6 pastas per shipment. This means the total subscription includes 24 different boxes of Sfoglini noodles.

Shipping is included in the price

The fees for shipping are included in the total price, so you won't be charged extra for delivery at the time of checkout or when your individual boxes are sent out. This is super helpful compared to other sites that have shipping charges that aren't visible until you check out, or high flat rates in addition to the cost of the subscription box. However, Sfoglini makes it simple and the price you see is the price you get (including shipping).

Refunds for mistakes within 30 days

Sfoglini has a 30-day refund policy. This applies to items damaged when you receive them or if something is wrong with the pasta itself. You will need to return the pasta if you want a full refund. You will be responsible for the return shipping costs if you need to send back your pasta, and only unopened boxes will be accepted for return or refund.

High praise for pasta quality

Notably, almost all of the reviews for Sfoglini's pasta on its own website are a full 5 stars. There is no page for Sfoglini on the Better Business Bureau, and with no feedback on sites like Trustpilot or Sitejabber, we had to rely on reviews found on third-party retailers to see what customers say about Sfoglini's pasta. The good news? The feedback is resoundingly positive. Sfoglini has a 4.7 out of 5 stars on average. Customers note that the pasta tastes better than some fresh pasta they've bought from grocery stores. Those who were given pasta clubs as gifts also praised the quality and thickness of the noodles, noting they are perfect for holding sauce.

Best option for authentic Italian pasta

With impressive feedback from customers, this boxed pasta hits the mark for almost everyone. With tons of pasta (even with only quarterly shipments), you can expect plenty of noodle goodness delivered right to your door. While we'd love to see a more supportive refund policy, the overall experience of shopping for pasta at Sfoglini is worth it. And with competitive pricing and extremely tasty pasta, you can get an authentic Italian dinner (or send one to a loved one) right away. For these reasons, Sfoglini earns an excellent rating in our review.

Which Pasta Club is the Best?

Have you ever thought about what your favorite pasta shape is? Are you a fan of long, flat linguine? Maybe you like bowtie pasta (farfalle) and its fun little ridges. Or, you might be a shell pasta (conchiglie) fan for the amount of sauce you can get in one bite. Whether you're a home chef trying to make restaurant-quality carbonara, or you're just trying to get a taste of this Italian classic, we get it.

So, what is a pasta club? Well, it's exactly like other subscription clubs (like cupcakes or makeup), where you'll get pasta delivered to your door each month. Plus, if you know a home chef in your life who needs noodles ASAP, most sites offer a range of prepaid subscription boxes that let you send a pasta subscription as a gift. It's a great way to try different kinds of pasta from around the world, support artisanal chefs, and explore new shapes and flavors of your favorite food item.

If you're a penne fan, or looking for some good-old-fashioned spaghetti, pasta is a classic meal that comes in so many shapes and sizes that you can spend years trying new ones and still find more shapes (rotini, fettuccine, or ravioli, anyone?). While most of us think of Italy when we think of our favorite pasta dishes, there's evidence that the Etruscans made pasta back in 400 BCE.

Food historians believe that pasta arrived in Italy through trade in the Mediterranean and began its widespread popularity in the 13th century. From there, it became a country classic with pasta dishes like macaroni, ravioli, gnocchi, and vermicelli showing up across Italy. Today, it's estimated that Italians eat over 60 lb. of pasta per person per year.

So, what's the difference between high-end pasta versus the stuff you get at the grocery store? Well, for those of you who've had homemade pasta, you already know: the flavors, the freshness, and the texture of the pasta are beyond amazing when you compare it to the shelf-stable boxes you find at your local supermarket. If you want that restaurant-quality flavor in your home-cooked pasta dishes, grabbing a subscription to a pasta club is one of the best ways to get artisanal, top-quality noodles delivered right to your door.

If you're worried about dietary restrictions, don't be. Most pasta clubs offer options for gluten-free, so that those who are unable to eat gluten can still enjoy the delights of a home-cooked pasta dish. Whether you want packs with just pasta or one that helps you out with extra seasoning, sauce, and sometimes cheese too (to really get your inner chef going), there's a pasta club out there to fulfill your Italian dinner craving.

If you're ready to have your friends asking to come to your place for dinner instead of the local Olive Garden, but you don't know which vendor to choose, don't worry. Here are some factors that can help you find the best pasta club for your home chef needs:

To help you find the best way to bring your home chef dreams to life, Top Consumer Reviews has researched and ranked the top pasta clubs available today. Now you can enjoy your favorite noodles year-round and know there's always more on the way. Bon appetit!

Pasta of the Month Club FAQ

How does a pasta club work?
Like most online clubs, you choose a subscription plan, select your preferences (like delivery frequency or subscription length), and the club sends off a box of pasta for you. Once a month (or other frequencies if you choose) you'll get tasty pasta (or pastas) and sometimes complementary items like sauces, spices, or recipe cards. It's a convenient and delicious way to make your pasta nights more authentic.
What kinds of pasta are included?
This depends on the club. At most pasta makers, you can expect a mix of classic and unique varieties like spaghetti, rigatoni, pappardelle, or fusilli. Some clubs focus on gourmet or handmade pasta, while others feature international styles like Asian, gluten-free, or even plant-based pasta. Many clubs also include fun seasonal shapes or rare cuts you may not find locally.
Can you customize your club?
This also depends on where you shop. Some pasta clubs offer options to change out the pasta included in your box. For example, you might be able to pick your own pasta in every shipment or ask for the company to change your pasta to gluten-free varieties. While not many pasta clubs offer changes to the orders, many of the clubs that have online menus where you can buy pasta directly let you choose your preferred styles and flavors.
How much does a pasta club cost?
Prices typically range from $16 to $60 per month, depending on the quality of the pasta, the quantity, and any add-ons included in your shipments. Clubs that offer premium ingredients or specialty sauces may be more expensive. Keep an eye out for discounts, though. You might get a lower monthly price for a longer subscription commitment or a larger order.
Will pasta stay fresh during delivery?
Definitely! Most pasta clubs focus on shelf-stable products like dried or packaged fresh pasta that won't have any issues during transit. If fresh or refrigerated pasta is included, it's shipped appropriately and includes instructions for storage and prep when it arrives at your door.
Can you pause or cancel your subscription?
Most pasta clubs are flexible when it comes to managing your account. You can pause, skip a delivery, or cancel your subscription without any penalties. If you prepay for a subscription, you'll often be given partial refunds for the portion of your subscription that you haven't used. Make sure you check the pasta clubs' terms for a full rundown on the particular policies.
Can you send a pasta club as a gift?
Pasta subscriptions make fantastic gifts for foodies, home cooks, or anyone who loves Italian cuisine. Most clubs offer easy gifting options like prepaid memberships that don't auto-renew. You can also sometimes add features like personalized notes or gift wrapping to make the monthly shipments more special for your loved ones.
Do pasta clubs include sauces or recipes?
Many do! While some clubs focus solely on pasta, others include delicious sauces, seasonings, or oils to complete your meal. Recipe cards are common even if you don't get tasty extras, so you can run to your local grocery and grab what you need to make an authentic Italian dinner.
