2026 Photo Card Company Reviews

Where is the best place to find photo cards?  Photo cards carry a long and meaningful history that stretches back more than a century. In the early days, families and friends often exchanged cards with formal portraits or small snapshots to mark important milestones. Before email and social media, a card in the mail with a personal photograph was the only way to bridge distance and share life's biggest events. From black-and-white images on thick card stock to the glossy holiday cards that filled mailboxes, these cards were more than just a greeting: they were keepsakes.

On the Zazzle website

Zazzle is a photo printing site known for its highly customizable photo cards and other print projects, whether you want stationery, home goods, apparel, or fun greeting cards. Zazzle is a great spot for custom work, so if you're an artist looking for printmaking or just a creative wanting to make a photo card that no one's ever seen before, this is a solid platform to choose. Zazzle got started in 2005 and is based in California as an international brand.

200,000+ templates in the inventory

Zazzle has probably the most astounding inventory of any photo card site in our review. There are 213,086 (yes, six figures) different templates to choose from. And, you can still choose to create your own product from scratch on top of that. For some of the popular categories, you'll see 1,402 results in anniversary cards, 9,736 wedding announcements, and 180,882 options for baby shower invitations. This is one of the most robust inventories available today.

Free reign on personalization

Using the design tool for personalization of your photo cards at Zazzle is a breeze. You can add photos, change backgrounds, add additional elements like shapes, clip art, and images, and work through layers to make sure the elements you want to be on top of your design stay on top. This is one of the closest design tools to actual professional software. You can upload your photos from your computer or mobile device, or use media images (or icons) directly from Zazzle's library. Any element (whether it's text, photos, or shapes) can be moved around the screen, so you can create a fully custom design no matter what template you start with.

Best Photo Card Companies

Cost starts at $0.30 to $7.10 per card

The prices per card at Zazzle start at $0.30 and go up to $7.10. These prices are per card for the minimum amount, which is 10 for most of the photo cards on Zazzle. To check out how much it would cost to buy a specific card, we looked at a middle-tier wedding announcement card. This card did not have a quantity minimum, so you can buy one invite for $2.14. The lowest cost for this style was $1.26 per card (if you purchase 1,000). For our comparison, we decided to purchase 80 invites which cost $1.26 per card for a total of $100.80. This is a much better price than we've seen at other photo card stores for similar card quality and quantity.

100% satisfaction guarantee with refunds

Zazzle offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you don't love your prints, you can send them back and get an exchange, credit, or refund (this applies to all orders). You have 30 days to get your return started if there is an issue with your order. Zazzle will provide a prepaid shipping label to you if you need to return your items.

High praise outside of the BBB

Zazzle currently holds a "D-" rating from the Better Business Bureau due to the failure to respond to 22 complaints. However, on other third-party review sites like Trustpilot, Zazzle's reputation is much more solid. Trustpilot shows an average of 4.5 stars out of 5 for Zazzle's services. Almost all recent reviewers had a great experience with Zazzle. Many of the reviews focus on products other than photo cards, like mugs, ties, carpets, and more. The reviews that focused on photo cards, specifically, were all high ratings with praise for quick shipping and high-quality, clear prints.

Fantastic choice from every angle

While we generally like to see a higher rating from the Better Business Bureau, everything else about Zazzle is a standout feature. There are tons of templates (seriously, it's hard to believe how many), great prices, and a competitive refund policy. With everything but the BBB rating, Zazzle blows the competition out of the water. For this reason, Zazzle earns the top spot and a full 5 stars in our review.

On the Mixbook website

Mixbook is a site that feels designed for photo cards. The company was founded in 2006 and is based in California. With the motto "photo card themes for every occasion," Mixbook has an impressive inventory and even offers other stationery items if you need a one-stop shop. On top of photo cards, you can find photo books, cards, calendars, and even home decor.

Pick from 2,000+ templates

Mixbook has plenty of templates, or you can jump right into the design tool and start creating a custom card from scratch. There is a competitive number of templates included in Mixbook's inventory. There are 301 different wedding cards, 587 holiday cards, 206 baby announcement cards, and more. There are well over 2,000 individual photo card templates to pick from. These include options with 1-4 photos in the design, different formats like folded, flat, or magnet, and different trim shapes too.

Solid personalization in the design tool

To test out Mixbook's personalization, we checked out one of the wedding announcement photo cards. You can easily start editing your custom photo card by uploading photos. Mixbook lets you upload your photos from Facebook, Google Photos, or directly from your device. The details of the template designs are all movable as well. You can drag and drop elements around the design, change fonts, resize items, and there are guides and snapping tools to help you make sure anything you move is lined up with the rest of the design. It's got a lot of flexibility without being too difficult for beginner designers.

Best Photo Card Companies

Cost starts at $0.73 to $2.72 per card

The cost per card at Mixbook depends on how many cards you buy. You can find deals for as low as $0.73 per card. Generally, the price is around $2.72 if you're buying just one. The best deal for our test card (a wedding announcement template) is $1.46 per card for 250+ in a package. At the low end, the wedding announcement was the average $2.72 per card for just a single item. There were no upcharges for changing the shape of your card. Only things like finishes changed the final cost. If you buy 80 of the wedding invitations, for example, the satin finish is free, putting the final price at $129.20. If you want an upgraded finish like "pearl," it will increase the final cost by $64.60.

100% satisfaction guarantee

Mixbook offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee for its photo cards. If you don't love your order from Mixbook, the company promises that if you contact them through the company email or live chat, they will help you resolve the issue through a refund. You can also choose store credit or a reship, depending on the issues you've encountered with your order.

Rave reviews for picture quality

Mixbook holds an "A+" rating and accreditation with the Better Business Bureau, and it's highly popular on other third-party review sites as well. On Trustpilot, for example, Mixbook holds a 4.6-star average rating out of 5. Reviewers have had wonderful experiences at Mixbook and praise the deep color of the photos and the fine print work. There are compliments for the quality of the paper and the reliability of perfect prints every time. While there were a few customers who had negative experiences, all of them received replies from the company to get their issues resolved.

Top pick for quality and usability

Mixbook is a photo card site that doesn't break the bank, it offers impressive customization through its design tool, and has a competitive satisfaction guarantee and strong reviews from customers across the board. There's no real downside to looking at Mixbook, with thousands of templates and unique designs that will make your special moment yours. Considering the overwhelmingly positive reputation of the company and its impressive usability, Mixbook earns an excellent score in our review.

On the Greeting Card Universe website

Greeting Card Universe is a photo card site with tons of different, creative, and colorful cards. While it isn't the easiest site to browse due to the old-fashioned design, there are definitely plenty of unique designs to choose from. The company has been around since 2009, and specializes in greeting cards of all kinds. With the bonus of free shipping on orders of 10 or more cards, you can also find some competitive savings from Greeting Card Universe.

Thousands of designs, but not many photos

Whether you want announcements, birthday cards, event invitations, sympathy cards, thank you cards, or wedding-specific memories to share, Greeting Card Universe has pretty much every kind of photo card you can imagine. There are thousands of cards to choose from, including every holiday to more obscure options like "boss' day". There are 2,713 photo cards available in the wedding section alone. So, if you're looking for a massive variety, you'll definitely find it here. The only caveat is that if you're looking for cards where you can put your own photos, it can take a little digging. Many of the cards at Greeting Card Universe are designed with art or clipart on the covers and interiors, so there aren't as many cards with spaces for your photos. You can filter your search to cards with custom photos, but there were only 21 total cards out of the thousands of wedding cards that offered personalized photos.

Minimal personalization available

To test out the design program on Greeting Card Universe, we used one of the Congratulations Getting Married card designs that allows for custom photos. The design tool was easy to use and loaded immediately. You don't need to make an account in order to add your photos. However, unlike some more modern choices, Greeting Card Universe doesn't allow you to upload photos from online sources. You'll have to have your chosen photo on your desktop in order to add it to your card. The fields in the card are also fixed. You can't move things around, and you'll edit the text using the text boxes along the right-hand side. You can change the text wording, font, and size. Between this and uploading a photo to a static frame, these are the only edits you can make to the photo cards here.

Best Photo Card Companies

Costs start from $1.59 to $3.89 per card

Oddly, there aren't price details on the listings for photo cards before you add them to the cart. When you click the "add to cart" button, you'll see the per-card price (or you can click through to the more detailed listing). Prices per card generally range from $1.59 to $3.89, but this is dependent on quantity discounts. To price out a general card for you, we looked at a Congratulations Wedding Card, which started at $3.89 for one card. The lowest price was $1.69 for over 1,000 cards ordered. For more normal quantities, the prices are $2.29 per card for 100-199, or $2.79 for 24-49 cards. So, at a normal wedding quantity of 80 cards, you're looking at a total of $207.20 for 80 cards (including envelopes).

30-day satisfaction guarantee

Greeting Card Universe offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on every order of photo cards. This means that if you get damaged or defective cards (including incorrect prints that aren't due to customer-added content), Greeting Card Universe will replace the entire shipment free of charge. This is helpful if you're worried about blurry photos or something that is an error with the printer.

High praise for card quality

Greeting Card Universe currently holds an "A+" rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, it currently has a near-perfect 4.9-star average rating from Trustpilot. Despite the old-fashioned site, Greeting Card Universe is one of those places where you don't want to judge a book by its cover. The photo card company has stellar feedback from customers. There is high praise for card quality and prompt delivery, as well as for the wide selection. While none of the recent reviews mentioned the design tool, everyone seemed pleased with the final product.

High-quality and creative cards

If you're looking for photo cards that stand out from the pack with artistic designs and tons of templates, Greeting Card Universe is definitely worth a look. It has rave reviews from customers and the BBB. Though it may not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if you're looking for more modern templates that include more customization and photo options, it's still a strong contender, especially due to its fantastic feedback. For these reasons, Greeting Card Universe earns a competitive score in our review.

On the Minted website

Minted is a photo card store that offers a range of modern designs. Whether you're looking for fun patterns, minimalist selections, typography, classic, or more, there are plenty of ways to grab a photo card at Minted. The company was founded in 2007 and is known as being an "online marketplace of premium design goods," specifically, paper goods. And, on top of the regular photo cards offered, Minted has an entire section of its site dedicated to wedding cards and stationery.

3,400+ templates to choose from

Minted has 1,741 different photo card templates ready to go. Whether you're looking for holiday styles, seasonal, wedding, birthday, or something else, there are plenty of designs (customizable ones too) to pick from. On the wedding side of the site, there are 752 different photo cards and regular cards to pick from, offering an impressive range of options. You can find designs that include one, two, three, and even four or more photos, so no matter what you're looking for, there's a photo-styled template for you.

Plenty of photos and moving parts

When you jump into personalization, you'll be able to pick from standard or foil-pressed prints, a range of color themes, and the photo orientation. You'll also be able to choose the card size, whether you want a flat or folded design, and the silhouette or shape of the card. So, if you see a square design, but wish the edges were round, you can change the template before you buy. When you move to the personalization design tool, you'll be able to add your photos to the different pre-selected zones. You can move these zones around (and you may have to if you're trying to click other things layered behind them), so there's some customization for the different areas of the card. As for photos, you can upload them from your desktop or device, and save them to your photos on Minted. This way, if you want to make more photo cards in the future, you have access to your photo library right from the website.

Best Photo Card Companies

Costs start from $1.63 to $2.80, depending on pack

Minted is a little different from some of the other photo card sites in our review: there's a minimum of 20 cards for any purchase, for starters. Within this constraint, prices per card range from $1.63 to $2.80. However, the $1.63 per card is only for packs of 750 cards. At a more normal purchase level, you'll find that 100 cards cost $1.68 per card and 50 cards cost $2.54. There are also some upcharges for features like larger sizes or shapes. For example, if you buy 80 cards in the 5x7 size, it will be $151 total. But if you want to add a shape change (rounded edges or oval cards), it will add $31.60 to your total. So, your final purchase would be $182.60. Notably, this is a lower cost than some other photo card sites for the same number of cards.

Refunds or reprints offered

Minted has a "return any item for any reason" policy for all of its photo cards. If you're not happy, you can contact the customer service team to get a case-by-case answer on how to handle your problem (whether that's a replacement or a refund). There may be some exclusions for custom items, so make sure you check with your service rep when you call if you have a customized card (as photo cards would be).

High marks for customer service and turnaround

Minted holds an "A+" rating and accreditation with the Better Business Bureau. However, on third-party review sites with verified reviews, Minted doesn't score quite as high. Currently, it holds a 2.7-star average rating out of 5 from Trustpilot, though 64% of all reviews are a full 5 stars. Recent reviews praise Minted for its solid customer service and quick turnaround. There are also plenty of recent reviews praising the high quality of the cards themselves. The poor reviews cover the website interface, where customers kept losing projects while on the website. We didn't see any of those issues while using Minted's design software, so it could be a browser issue.

Unique designs keep it competitive

If you're looking for a site with tons of photo card designs that doesn't break the bank, Minted is definitely worth a look. While on paper its review scores seem lower than competitors, there's still a large number of 5-star reviews for Minted that seem to be growing in recent years. With stellar designs, solid customer service, and unique photo options for all sorts of holidays, Minted stands out as a photo card retailer worth a look. For these reasons, it earns a solid score in our review.

On the Shutterfly website

Shutterfly is a well-known stationery and printwork store that's been around for quite some time. Many customers who have never done photo cards before already know Shutterfly's name. This company is one of the more modern in our review, and has lots of brand partnerships that all relate to photo prints - like SnapFish and Tinyprints. The company got started in 1999 and has recently added a mobile app to make printing your photo cards easier than ever.

Choose from around 300 design templates

Shutterfly has plenty of card templates for different life events and surprises, including birthday cards, Mother's/Father's Day cards, pride cards, sympathy cards, thank you cards, anniversary cards, and graduation cards. The selection is surprisingly limited, though, for a site known for photo prints. Shutterfly's birthday section has only 35 templates, and 15 options for graduation. The largest section of photo cards at Shutterfly is the wedding announcements option, with 152 different templates included.

Basic but beginner-friendly design tool

Shutterfly has a solid editor tool for photo cards with all the basics included. You can add photos from your desktop or device, or sign in to your online photo accounts at Amazon, Google, ArtLib, or Facebook to upload photos from there. However, the template elements like text position and photo position are static at Shutterfly. You can't move them around or change them. The only things you can change are text details, fonts, and colors. This is easy for beginners, but slightly more limited if you want more design freedom.

Best Photo Card Companies

Cost from $1.03 to $3.09 per card

Shutterfly's photo cards range in price from $1.03 to $3.08 per card, depending on the quantity you order. There aren't any order minimums at Shutterfly, so you can grab a single card if that's all you want. Most of the cards at Shutterfly are around the same price, making it easy to pick between different styles without breaking the bank. The test card we picked (a wedding announcement) cost $3.08 for one card. At our normal comparison point of 80 photo cards in a pack, Shutterfly cost $213.60, which was more costly than many competitors in the same style and quantity. If you add additional features like different card trim and pearl cardstock, the final price is $249.20 for 80 cards.

Satisfaction guarantee included

Shutterfly offers a 100% happiness guarantee that states that if you're unsatisfied with your photo card order for any reason, you can get it resolved by contacting customer service. If there is an error that isn't Shutterfly's error, you will be charged a 50% return fee. However, you have 60 days to make a complaint. If the error is Shutterfly's, you shouldn't have to pay a thing.

Some mixed reviews and service complaints

Shutterfly currently holds a "B-" rating from the Better Business Bureau. However, on other third-party review sites like Trustpilot, Shutterfly's reputation is pretty abysmal. Currently, Shutterfly holds a 1.6-star average out of 5 on Trustpilot, where it has well over 28,000 total reviews to back up the score. Many of the recent reviews for Shutterfly were just 1 star, with complaints about AI support and slow shipping times. There are also complaints about the user interface being clunky and difficult to use for uploading photos. The few customers who liked their experiences at Shutterfly said that although the photo took some time to load (a common complaint across the board), the final quality of the photo cards was crisp.

More costly than competitors

Shutterfly is an industry favorite, but the reviews show it could use some work before it's as competitive as some of the other photo card sites out there. With higher-than-average prices as well as issues with prints and customer service, it comes out as a just-average choice for photo cards in our review. While there are positive points for this service, they don't outweigh the issues with slow shipping and a clunky UI. For now, Shutterfly earns a mid-tier 3 rating in our review.

On the Picaboo website

Picaboo is a stationery and photography site that specializes in photo books, photo cards, and special keepsakes like calendars. Picaboo got started in 2004 by designing photo album software. As of today, the company has grown to include all sorts of photo services, including puzzles, ornaments, and more. Picaboo is headquartered in Newfoundland, Canada.

442 templates to choose from

Picaboo's photo cards range from all sorts of use cases, like holidays, baby announcements, graduation, save-the-dates, thank you cards, wedding invites, and birthday invites. There are 442 different photo cards to choose from. Popular categories include wedding invites with 26 cards, Christmas photo cards with 123 templates, and graduation cards with 39 templates to choose from. Most of the card templates come pretty much as-is. So, if you're looking for more customized options, you might need to browse elsewhere.

Nearly professional-level editing

Picaboo's design tool is pretty simple to use, and includes a drag feature so you can move elements around to make the text and photos exactly what you want them to be. It also offers guidelines and snapping tools to help you keep all of your elements in line if you move something around. There are also more edits you can do, like stroke style, color, shadows, and spacing, which closely mirror the usability of professional design tools. You can add lines and shapes to your design for additional creativity. As for the photos, you can add them to Picaboo through your device, Google Photos, Facebook, Flickr, and Dropbox.

Best Photo Card Companies

Costs from $1.96 to $2.39 per card

Picaboo's prices start at $1.96 to $2.39 per card, depending on whether you want a standard or premium finish. However, Picaboo's prices aren't listed on the main browsing page, so there's some annoying back and forth as you click through different cards you like to see what the costs are. On top of that, you can't see quantity information until you're ready to add your photo cards to the cart (which you can only do after finishing your design in the editor tool). Once you get to the checkout screen, you can choose from a minimum of 10 cards or up to 500. The test card we did (a wedding announcement card) cost $2.09 per card with standard features. For 80 cards, you can get a pack at Picaboo for $135.20.

No satisfaction guarantee

Picaboo's only recourse for refunds is if you cancel your order before it ships to you. Otherwise, there are no promises for refunds or reprints. If there is an issue with your order, Picaboo suggests contacting its customer support, but there's no listed guarantee or policy that will get you a reprint or refund if you don't like your final photo cards.

Mixed reviews with concerns about refunds

Picaboo is not currently rated by the Better Business Bureau. On the other hand, it does have a mixed reputation on third-party review sites like Trustpilot. Picaboo currently has 3.9 stars out of 5 with a blend of 5 and 1-star reviews - showing some serious disagreement between customers on the quality of the experience at this photo card retailer. In general, customers who liked Picaboo said that their photos were crisp and the final product felt worth the money. However, those who didn't enjoy their experience with Picaboo said that getting ahold of a customer service rep was difficult, and there was no recourse for many customers who had issues. One customer was promised a refund and didn't hear anything more for 2 months.

Below average in almost every category

Picaboo isn't a standout photo card site in our review. It has fewer overall templates than many sites, and its lackluster refund policy and mixed reviews make it a below-average choice overall. While the design tool is more professional than some of the others we've researched, that isn't quite enough to keep Picaboo competitive.

On the Artifact Uprising website

Artifact Uprising is an online print shop that specializes in photo books, framed photos, and, of course, photo cards. Artifact Uprising stands out by offering 100% recycled options and using reclaimed materials for most of its work. This way, you can enjoy sharing your memories with others without the worry of wasting paper or harming the environment. The company has been around since 2012, and is a woman-owned business.

Around 600 styles to choose from

Artifact Uprising has 15 different styles to choose from for photo cards. You can pick from thank you styles, save the dates, birth announcements, wedding thank-yous, grad announcements, "just because" photos, birthday, folded, and two blank styles. On top of that, there are around 40 styles per category, so as you jump through the different use cases for cards, you'll find an expanded list of templates and designs. When you click on the cards themselves, you'll be able to see a preview before you're taken to the editing tool. On the preview page, you'll see options for different types of envelopes and card orientation options. You can also pre-address your envelopes if you prefer.

Helpful tool with somewhat limited design choices

The design tool on Artifact Uprising requires an account to access, so once you've signed up with an email and password, you can get to work. You can upload photos to add to the template design using Google Drive, Dropbox, or directly from the device you're using. You can also change the text font style, color, and size through the text editing fields. However, all of the fields are locked in place at Artifact Uprising, so the level of personalization on the template photo cards is a little limited. You can't add extra photos or move elements around. On the other hand, this does make it simple for beginner designers who don't want to worry about messing up a design.

Best Photo Card Companies

Lowest costs start between $1 and $1.95 per card

Artifact Uprising's photo cards start at $1 to $1.95 per card. To get an idea of the pricing on different packages of cards, we looked at Save the Date Photo Cards, specifically to price out the final purchase. The lowest price per card for the Hand Lettered Save Our Date Card is $1.60 per card, and this is only if you buy 175 cards in a pack. For smaller packs, you're looking at anywhere between $1.75 per card (100 cards) to $2.40 per card (10 cards). If you add a foil printing style to your standard card, the price will increase by around $0.50 per card. Further, if you choose to have your envelopes pre-addressed, that will be an additional $0.40 per envelope. So, for a standard purchase of 80 cards, the price (with foil decor and addressing) is $236 for a pack of cards.

Satisfaction guaranteed, but on a case-by-case basis

Artifact Uprising offers a quality guarantee that states that all of the photo cards are created with "thoughtfully sourced materials", and if you have any problems with your order, Artifact Uprising promises to make it right. All you need to do is contact them to get started. However, at the time of our review, Artifact Uprising did not have a return center for products to be shipped back (?!). The company says that it will work with you to "find a resolution" to your problems, but there are no specific details for refunds or reshipments. You're just told to contact customer support and see.

Concerns about poor print quality

Regrettably, Artifact Uprising holds a dismal "D-" rating from the Better Business Bureau. On other third-party review sites like Trustpilot, the company has a middle-tier rating of 3.1 stars out of 5, though 55% of all reviews for this photo card shop are just 1 star. Recent reviews say that the print quality for the photo cards at Artifact Uprising is "extremely bad," and there are plenty of frustrations with the lack of returns. While some customers who bought photo books liked their items, there are even more reviews complaining about the lack of customer service help and zero resolution of problems. Yikes.

No help if you don't like your prints blurry

Sadly, if you're looking for quality photo cards, you may not find them here. With complaints about print quality and issues with customer service, many previous customers warn others away. Plus, with no guarantee of a fix if something goes wrong, there's no reassurance that you'll get your money back if the photo cards don't turn out the way you want. For these reasons (and the concerning "D-" from the BBB), Artifact Uprising earns one of our lower ratings.

On the Simply to Impress website

Simply to Impress is a photo card site that promises affordability and impressive quality together. Whether you're looking for holiday cards, custom options, memorial cards, or something else, Simply to Impress has a competitive range of templates and designs to choose from. The company got started in 2003 when the owner, Heather Hasse, wanted to create her own announcements and couldn't find unique enough designs to suit her. So, she decided to create a site of her own.

Over 5,000 design templates

There are hundreds of template designs in every category at Simply to Impress. The wedding section alone has 472 different cards. Other photo card categories, like baby announcements, had 538 different templates to choose from. Whether you're looking for a bridal shower announcement (157 templates), grad announcements (1,237), or a card for New Year's (1,100), Simply to Impress has well over 5,000 individual photo cards to sift through. You can pick different paper shapes, themes, foil additions, and more, to make your photo cards special and "just for you."

A mix of static and movable elements

Simply to Impress' design program is easy to use. Before you start personalizing your photo cards, you'll pick classic or premium cardstock, the card size, and the card shape. From there, you'll be asked to jump into personalization. Simply to Impress allows you to upload photos from your desktop or device, but doesn't currently have an option to pull photos from online albums like Facebook or Google Photos. Some of the elements in the Simply to Impress templates are static, meaning you can't change them or the positions of items. However, you can add new features like text boxes or QR codes for easy RSVPS that can be moved around the card and changed as you like.

Best Photo Card Companies

Costs between $0.92 and $1.20 per card at the lowest

Simply to Impress' prices range from $0.92 to $1.20 per card at the lowest possible price. This is without upgrades to paper and with the largest package of cards, generally. Simply to Impress does have a minimum purchase requirement, but it's only 2 cards. With our test card (a wedding Save the Date photo card), the price per card for the minimum purchase was $2.74. For a more standard amount (80 cards), the price per card was $2.15. That makes a full purchase with standard features $172 total.

100% satisfaction guarantee with a refund

Simply to Impress offers a 100% happiness guarantee with its experience. The refund policy states that if you're not satisfied with your photo cards, you can return them within 30 days of when you received them for a refund or replacement. The only items that don't qualify for this policy are bulk or wholesale orders, which are listed as final sale.

Many reviews mention blurry photos

Regrettably, Simply to Impress doesn't have a solid reputation when we check third-party review sites. The company holds a dismal "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, Simply to Impress' reputation on Trustpilot is also extremely low, with a 2.1-star average rating out of 5, and 66% of all reviews at just 1 star. Customers complain that the photos come out grainy, blurry, and don't have any vibrancy. Other customers claimed that the shipping is slow, and even those who paid for expedited shipping didn't get their items on time. While some reviewers were impressed with the customer service, the overall opinion is that you can probably expect blurry photos if you order from Simply to Impress.

Too many bad results

Simply to Impress seems like a great site with a solid inventory and unique designs. However, with recent reviews showing an overwhelming majority of photo cards coming back blurry and hard to read, Simply to Impress may not be worth the money. While the prices are about mid-tier, and the refund policy is more competitive than some of the lowest-ranking sites in our review, it still doesn't stack up against the top contenders due to poor reviews and the "F" grade from the BBB.

On the Nations Photo Lab website

Nations Photo Lab is a stationery store that specializes in photo cards of all kinds. Whether you want something personalized or you're just looking for a fun reminder to send joy to loved ones, Nations Photo Lab seems to have everything you need. The company got started in 2005 as a print shop for photography, specifically. When the owners couldn't find a trustworthy place to print quality photos, they decided to make their own. Nations Photo Lab is based in Maryland and is run by photography aficionados who care about the final print just as much as you.

A few hundred templates

Nations Photo Lab offers tons of custom photo card designs, including graduation, stationery cards, wedding, and trading cards. (Yep, if you've ever wanted to make a baseball card for your little league player, that's an option here.) However, there is a slightly smaller inventory than some of the other photo card retailers in our review. For example, there are only 47 options for graduation cards, 65 wedding cards, and 31 options for holiday greeting photo cards. In general, the designs are modern, and there are plenty of options like foil inclusions or different colors.

Drag and drop design tool

Nations Photo Lab allows for plenty of customization. Before you enter the design tool, you can choose from rounded and square corners, as well as the type of paper you want for your photo cards. The design tool itself does require you to make an account before you can use it. When you first enter the design tool, it will offer you tips and tricks on how to use it. You can upload photos directly from your device, and then get started with the design. You can change out static elements like backgrounds, borders, and color styles. All of the elements are "drag and drop," so you'll have to pull them onto your design. You can move elements around and resize them, too, making it more customizable than some other design tools.

Best Photo Card Companies

Cost from $0.44 to $1.66 per card

The photo cards at Nations Photo Lab generally range from $0.44 to $1.66 per card before any upgrades (for example, if you add the pearl sheen to your paper, the cost goes up to $1. 96 per card). However, some cards only come in 25-card packs, so if you want more than 25, you'll need to order multiple packs. When we compared prices at other photo card retailers, we looked at the cost of 80 cards. At Nations Photo Lab, we used 75 cards to show the cost of a wedding announcement photo card set. The total cost was $108.57.

Not so helpful with refunds

Nations Photo Lab does not have a specific refund policy. Instead, it has a page for "order remakes" where you are directed to contact the customer support team (or, preferably, the AI assistant) to get any questions answered about your order. If you dig through the terms and conditions, you'll find a little more detail, noting that Nations Photo Lab does not allow for any returns or refunds.

Terrible quality, terrible service

Nations Photo Lab holds an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau. However, outside of this, it has a more middle-tier rating on third-party review sites. Currently, its Trustpilot score is 3.1 stars out of 5, with over 80% of all reviews being a 1-star rating. In general, customers complain about poor-quality prints. Some came with blank sections or misaligned elements that were aligned properly in the design tool. On the other hand, the recourse offered to these customers meant that while a new set of prints would be sent for free, the customer was expected to pay for shipping and handling a second time. Yikes. Other reviews note that the customer service at Nations Photo Lab is the worst they've ever dealt with, with frequent descriptors like "instant disappointment" or "shockingly terrible."

Not worth the misprints

If you're looking for a site that will stand behind its designs or help you if something goes wrong, Nations Photo Lab isn't going to be the pick for you. With frequent complaints about quality issues and misprints, you know you're likely to run into problems if you choose photo cards from this print shop. And without any helpful promises for refunds or recourse in any way, Nations Photo Lab leaves customers hanging with bad prints - or requiring them to pay for more shipping just to get the problem rectified. For these reasons, Nations Photo Lab earns a cautionary note: if you want your money's worth, you might want to choose one of our higher-rated photo card sites instead.

On the Snapfish website

Snapfish is another site that is under the same parent company as Shutterfly (another site we've reviewed for photo cards). The company specializes in custom photo cards, specifically, and allows you to create designs on the Snapfish website as well as on your mobile device. The company has been around since 1999, and is also a site you can use to store photos if you want, not just for designing photo cards.

Over 3,000 template designs

Snapfish has a massive inventory of photo card templates. You can find themes like holiday, invitations, thank you cards, baby or child announcements, and wedding cards of all kinds. The wedding section alone has 947 different templates to choose from. Other popular themes, like thank you cards (544 templates) and holiday cards (1,671 templates) have impressive options to choose from as well. Many of the card templates also come with stock colors and multiple color options that work within the design. There are also options with 1-4+ photos, so if you want to celebrate your precious moments with more than one of your favorite pictures, Snapfish has plenty of templates to pick from.

Minimal design work in the editor

Snapfish allows you to pick out some personalization before you jump into the design tool. You can pick the color options, trim shape, and whether or not you want an envelope with a return address. Once you get into the design tool, you'll be able to upload your photos from your device, desktop, or Google Photos. If you already have a Snapfish account for photo storage, you can immediately port over all your existing photos from there. You can edit text, fonts, alignment, and colors. However, compared to other design programs for photo cards, there isn't a lot of customizability. You can't move elements around, so what you see on the template is what you get.

Best Photo Card Companies

Cost starts at $0.94 to $3.40 per card

Snapfish's costs for photo cards start from $0.94 to $3.40 per card. However, there is a 20-card minimum at Snapfish, so if you want to get just a handful of cards, that won't be an option for you with Snapfish. We checked out a test card (a wedding announcement photo card) to see how the prices stack up against other photo card sites. With this test card, the minimum order of 20 cards would make this template $1.75 per card. If you were buying a more standard amount for wedding announcements, the cost would be $1.63 per card or $130.40 total for 80 cards.

Reshipments as part of the fix for problems

Snapfish promises that if you're dissatisfied with your order, you can contact the company through the chat link at the bottom of the page. You will need to have your order number ready in order to get help or talk about a replacement or refund. For most orders, you will likely get a reshipment of your order at no charge. In some cases, you may be asked to provide photo evidence of the defects.

Nothing nice to say about Snapfish

Snapfish, regrettably, has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, Snapfish holds a dismal 1.3 stars out of 5 on Trustpilot. Recent complaints note that items are frequently missing from orders, customer service is nonexistent, and the print quality on most orders is very poor. There are frequent errors on the prints and fuzzy or blurry images that were high quality when uploaded. There are almost no positive reviews for Snapfish for quite a while, earning it one of the lowest scores out there in our review.

Really, no redeeming qualities

While the large inventory of photo card designs initially make Snapfish seem like it's worth a look, everything else about it is pretty disappointing. The negative reviews and "F" rating show that customers across the board are dissatisfied with the service here. With a pretty lackluster design program and only mid-tier prices, there isn't much to win points for Snapfish, considering the high rate of poor feedback for its quality and customer service.

Whether you are looking to send announcements for babies, weddings, or graduation, photo cards are a personalized way to enjoy your favorite memories and share them with your loved ones. Plus, with the increasing noise of online media, it feels special to receive a card in the mail with a personal touch rather than another Reel or Story. You're bringing someone into a special moment of your life with intention. It's a great way to keep connected and share your most important news.

Modern online photo card stores make putting together your cards a breeze. They have expanded personalization and unique designs that can make your photo card stand out from the pack. Instead of being limited to a single image and plain text, online editing tools allow you to choose from a wide range of templates, layouts, fonts, and colors to craft a card that fits your unique style. Good platforms also give you the option to upload multiple photos, design double-sided cards, or even match your card design to envelopes for a complete package. Plus, what once required a professional printer and significant expense can now be done from your laptop or phone in just a few minutes.

Cost is another major advantage of shopping for photo cards online. In the past, printing cards often required bulk orders, which drove up the price and left you with stacks of extras you didn't need. Today, many online retailers offer flexible packages and competitive pricing, allowing you to order only the number of cards you need. You don't have to waste money on extras, and if you have multiple levels of announcements (such as a Save the Date and a Wedding Announcement), you can ensure all your materials match as well.

If you're not sure where to get started on your photo cards, don't sweat. We've got it handled for you. Here are a few factors you might want to consider before you make your final decision:

Whether you are planning a wedding, announcing the arrival of a new baby, hosting a milestone birthday party, or sending out holiday greetings, a physical photo card leaves a stronger impression than a quick online post. To help you get your messages and memories out there to your loved ones, Top Consumer Reviews has researched and ranked the top photo card stores available today. This way, you can focus on your precious moments and meaningful celebrations without the stress of design weighing you down. All you need to worry about is celebrating!

Photo Card Company FAQ

What are photo cards?
Photo cards take your images and turn them into mailable greetings. Some of the most popular types of photo cards are wedding announcements, graduations and holidays.
Do I have to buy a lot of photo cards in one order?
That depends on the photo card shop you choose. Many of them have a minimum number of cards to place an order, usually 10 or 25, but some let you buy a single card. Of course, you'll pay more per card for a one-off purchase than you will for an order of 100.
Are photo cards expensive?
Not necessarily. Again, if you're ordering multiples of the same card, you can easily get them for less than $1 each. You'll also find single-card options for less than $2. And, as you'd expect, the more premium options you include - like foil, embossing, and so on - the more you'll pay per card.
Do the photo cards come with envelopes?
Yes, most of the time. A standard white envelope is usually included, but you'll often find options for color-coordinated or pre-addressed ones too (for an extra fee).
How much can I customize my photo cards?
How much time do you have? You can personalize most photo cards to your heart's content, playing with shapes, fonts, colors and image placement until you have the design you're excited to send out.
I'm not very creative. Are there ready-made templates I can use?
Definitely. Most photo card sites have thousands of options ranging from casual to elegant, classic to whimsical, and everything in between. Just upload the photo you want to include, enter the accompanying text, and you're ready to go - no artsy tweaking required.
How long will it take for my photo cards to be printed and shipped?
That varies. You could get them as quickly as two or three days from when you placed your order. Most print shops estimate a one-week turnaround on photo cards.
My photo cards arrived and I hate them! What can I do?!
Don't panic. Many photo card stores have generous satisfaction guarantees in place. You can usually get a reprint (with expedited delivery) at no cost. If the error was on your side, like misspelling a name or putting in the wrong date, you might have to pay a fee for the new order - but less than the price of the original purchase.
