Where is the best place to find photo cards?  Photo cards carry a long and meaningful history that stretches back more than a century. In the early days, families and friends often exchanged cards with formal portraits or small snapshots to mark important milestones. Before email and social media, a card in the mail with a personal photograph was the only way to bridge distance and share life's biggest events. From black-and-white images on thick card stock to the glossy holiday cards that filled mailboxes, these cards were more than just a greeting: they were keepsakes.
Picaboo is a stationery and photography site that specializes in photo books, photo cards, and special keepsakes like calendars. Picaboo got started in 2004 by designing photo album software. As of today, the company has grown to include all sorts of photo services, including puzzles, ornaments, and more. Picaboo is headquartered in Newfoundland, Canada.
442 templates to choose from
Picaboo's photo cards range from all sorts of use cases, like holidays, baby announcements, graduation, save-the-dates, thank you cards, wedding invites, and birthday invites. There are 442 different photo cards to choose from. Popular categories include wedding invites with 26 cards, Christmas photo cards with 123 templates, and graduation cards with 39 templates to choose from. Most of the card templates come pretty much as-is. So, if you're looking for more customized options, you might need to browse elsewhere.
Nearly professional-level editing
Picaboo's design tool is pretty simple to use, and includes a drag feature so you can move elements around to make the text and photos exactly what you want them to be. It also offers guidelines and snapping tools to help you keep all of your elements in line if you move something around. There are also more edits you can do, like stroke style, color, shadows, and spacing, which closely mirror the usability of professional design tools. You can add lines and shapes to your design for additional creativity. As for the photos, you can add them to Picaboo through your device, Google Photos, Facebook, Flickr, and Dropbox.
Costs from $1.96 to $2.39 per card
Picaboo's prices start at $1.96 to $2.39 per card, depending on whether you want a standard or premium finish. However, Picaboo's prices aren't listed on the main browsing page, so there's some annoying back and forth as you click through different cards you like to see what the costs are. On top of that, you can't see quantity information until you're ready to add your photo cards to the cart (which you can only do after finishing your design in the editor tool). Once you get to the checkout screen, you can choose from a minimum of 10 cards or up to 500. The test card we did (a wedding announcement card) cost $2.09 per card with standard features. For 80 cards, you can get a pack at Picaboo for $135.20.
No satisfaction guarantee
Picaboo's only recourse for refunds is if you cancel your order before it ships to you. Otherwise, there are no promises for refunds or reprints. If there is an issue with your order, Picaboo suggests contacting its customer support, but there's no listed guarantee or policy that will get you a reprint or refund if you don't like your final photo cards.
Mixed reviews with concerns about refunds
Picaboo is not currently rated by the Better Business Bureau. On the other hand, it does have a mixed reputation on third-party review sites like Trustpilot. Picaboo currently has 3.9 stars out of 5 with a blend of 5 and 1-star reviews - showing some serious disagreement between customers on the quality of the experience at this photo card retailer. In general, customers who liked Picaboo said that their photos were crisp and the final product felt worth the money. However, those who didn't enjoy their experience with Picaboo said that getting ahold of a customer service rep was difficult, and there was no recourse for many customers who had issues. One customer was promised a refund and didn't hear anything more for 2 months.
Below average in almost every category
Picaboo isn't a standout photo card site in our review. It has fewer overall templates than many sites, and its lackluster refund policy and mixed reviews make it a below-average choice overall. While the design tool is more professional than some of the others we've researched, that isn't quite enough to keep Picaboo competitive.
Continued from above...
Whether you are looking to send announcements for babies, weddings, or graduation, photo cards are a personalized way to enjoy your favorite memories and share them with your loved ones. Plus, with the increasing noise of online media, it feels special to receive a card in the mail with a personal touch rather than another Reel or Story. You're bringing someone into a special moment of your life with intention. It's a great way to keep connected and share your most important news.
Modern online photo card stores make putting together your cards a breeze. They have expanded personalization and unique designs that can make your photo card stand out from the pack. Instead of being limited to a single image and plain text, online editing tools allow you to choose from a wide range of templates, layouts, fonts, and colors to craft a card that fits your unique style. Good platforms also give you the option to upload multiple photos, design double-sided cards, or even match your card design to envelopes for a complete package. Plus, what once required a professional printer and significant expense can now be done from your laptop or phone in just a few minutes.
Cost is another major advantage of shopping for photo cards online. In the past, printing cards often required bulk orders, which drove up the price and left you with stacks of extras you didn't need. Today, many online retailers offer flexible packages and competitive pricing, allowing you to order only the number of cards you need. You don't have to waste money on extras, and if you have multiple levels of announcements (such as a Save the Date and a Wedding Announcement), you can ensure all your materials match as well.
If you're not sure where to get started on your photo cards, don't sweat. We've got it handled for you. Here are a few factors you might want to consider before you make your final decision:
Whether you are planning a wedding, announcing the arrival of a new baby, hosting a milestone birthday party, or sending out holiday greetings, a physical photo card leaves a stronger impression than a quick online post. To help you get your messages and memories out there to your loved ones, Top Consumer Reviews has researched and ranked the top photo card stores available today. This way, you can focus on your precious moments and meaningful celebrations without the stress of design weighing you down. All you need to worry about is celebrating!
