Bake Me a Wish! has been delivering pies to all 50 states since 2004 - and they've got the reputation to show for it. Look at any one of the pies on their menu and you'll find hundreds (if not thousands) of 5-star reviews, from the classic blueberry to the more novel sour cherry. This pie shop guarantees that your dessert will arrive fresh and on time or your money back, and there's a great rewards program to make it affordable to use Bake Me a Wish! for sending gifts year-round. There's a lot of competition in the pie delivery world, but this company has earned our top recommendation.
For the best variety of pies - both sweet and savory - you should check out Southern Baked Pie Company. In business for over a decade, they deliver only the tastiest pies nationwide, including multiple options with gluten-free crust. Our favorite? Combo kits with pies suitable for both dinner and dessert afterwards. This pie shop's treats have been featured on popular TV shows and in magazines, their prices are competitive, and customers have nothing but love for the quality and flavor. For all these reasons, Southern Baked Pie Company easily deserves one of our highest ratings.
Dubbed "the best mail order pie in America” by Better Homes and Gardens, Little Pie Company offers a selection of about a dozen made-from-scratch treats available throughout the lower 48 United States, from traditional fruit pies to sugarless and gluten-free options. You can even order a chicken pot pie for dinner. While you'll wind up spending at least $90 by the time you click "order now”, hundreds of customers would tell you to do it - because these pies are delicious and arrive in perfect condition. Little Pie Company is one of our favorite options for pie delivery.
They say that you can't get anything that is fast, good, and cheap, but House of Pies begs to differ when it comes to pie delivery. This Texas-based bakery offers 9 different pies, all priced at $44.95 and with free shipping (although you may want to pay for upgraded shipping and delivery protection for added peace of mind). People who've tried these pies - both in-person at one of the Houston area restaurants and via delivery - rave about the taste and texture. While we can't quite give House of Pies a perfect score due to a lack of gluten-free pies and some more adventurous flavors, this bakery comes pretty close to a perfect rating.
Harry & David offers a tasty selection of nine pies, including some great gluten-free options, making it a solid pick for sweet treats or special gifts. They're known for their classy presentation, and you can add a personal touch with a free gift message or upgrade to a fancier card, or even tack on a bag of their signature Moose Munch popcorn. If you're a frequent shopper, their Celebrations Passport program might be worth it, giving you free shipping on most orders for a low annual fee. While a few customers have mentioned delivery delays and customer service issues recently, Harry & David has an "A+” rating with the BBB and works to fix problems when they happen. With over 100 years of experience, they're a reliable choice if you want a delicious pie delivered, especially if gluten-free is important to you.
If you're looking to make your taste buds say a hearty "Yeehaw!”, Tiny Pies should be on your list of pie delivery companies to consider. They offer a selection of classic flavors (like cherry and apple) and Texas-themed specialties (like the pecan/brownie Texas Two Step), most with options as a full 9” pie or a 4-pack of mini treats. Shipping is on the spendy side and may cost as much as the pie itself, and Tiny Pies doesn't show any reviews that would let us know what delivery customers think about the experience. Still, reviews from Tiny Pies' local customers are enthusiastic, so we're not overly concerned that shoppers will have any issues here. With a little on-site feedback from pie delivery shoppers, this company would easily move up from its current score here. Give Tiny Pies a look if you're into Texas-sized flavor (and don't mind the cost).
Mackenzie Limited is one of the OGs of the gourmet food delivery business, around since 1988 and offering a panorama of fine foods from the UK and beyond. Their selection of pies and tarts is solid, with around a dozen flavors ranging from classic pumpkin and cherry to more novel picks like strawberry rhubarb apple and chocolate bourbon pecan. The pies are affordable but the shipping can get expensive, and customer feedback for Mackenzie Limited is a bit mixed. All told, this pie shop earns a "good enough” rating from us: not the best or the worst choice for pie delivery.
David's Cookies is a company we love, with a longstanding history of delivering delicious desserts since 1979. People rave about the treats here, with thousands of people offering 5-star reviews. However, this doesn't exactly extend to the pies: there are just three basic flavors to choose from, and they all come frozen in ready-to-bake packaging that looks like what you'd get in the frozen aisle at the supermarket. While the pies are affordable and delivery costs are low, there's just not much to get excited about. We wholeheartedly recommend David's Cookies for many other types of sweet treats, but their pie delivery falls flat with us.
Williams Sonoma's pies look impressive, but ordering from them isn't always a smooth experience. You can sometimes score a great deal on clearance pies, especially after big holidays, but their everyday prices can go as high as nearly $100. But, although the selection is fairly small at around a dozen pies, many of them are gluten-free. One downside is that there aren't any customer reviews, so you're left guessing whether the pie will taste as good as it looks. And, shipping fees can really add up unless you join their $99-a-year Reserve program, and you don't get to pick an exact delivery date - just a general timeframe. To top it off, some customers have complained about pies arriving late or not at all. While Williams Sonoma's pies may be tempting, between the high prices, iffy delivery, and lack of reviews, you might want to check out other pie shops that are easier to count on.
Milk Bar might grab your attention with its famous name and quirky treats, but when it comes to pies, the selection is disappointingly small. With only three options (and one of those sold out during our review), you won't find much variety. While you can score some savings by ordering in bulk, shipping costs add up unless you spend over $100. Sadly, Milk Bar's reputation for customer service isn't great either, with frequent complaints about late or damaged deliveries and unresponsive support. All in all, while Milk Bar's pies sound fun, the overall experience will likely leave you craving something better.
Pies hold a special place in culinary history, dating back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians are credited with the earliest pie-like recipes, typically made with oats, honey, and dates. (Bake like an Egyptian?) The concept evolved as it traveled through Greece and Rome, where meat-filled pies became a staple.
By the time pies reached medieval Europe, they had transformed into a versatile dish with sweet and savory options wrapped in sturdy crusts. Today, pies are a beloved dessert and comfort food in many cultures, with flavors that range from classic to cutting-edge.
Speaking of flavors, traditional favorites like apple, pumpkin, and pecan remain at the top of the list, especially during the holidays. But adventurous bakers have introduced novel creations to delight the foodie in all of us. Imagine a tangy-sweet key lime pie infused with coconut, a decadent chocolate-bourbon pecan pie, or a savory dinnertime pie like tomato-basil ricotta. Pies continue to adapt to modern tastes, making them a perennial crowd-pleaser.
