Pies are ready to serve, but can be frozen

Once you've picked your pie and placed your order for the shipping date you prefer, what's next? Your pie comes freshly baked and ready to serve, no baking needed. You should store your pie in the fridge for up to 3 days (fruit pies) or up to 2 weeks (pecan pies). All of House of Pies' desserts can be frozen for up to 2 months: just leave it wrapped and pop the whole pie box right in the freezer. When you're ready to eat your pie, you can bring it to room temperature and enjoy as-is, or you can bake it at 225°F for 20-30 minutes until warm.

Consider paying for upgraded shipping

One important point to note: while shipping is free, it's up to you to determine if it's worth upgrading to UPS Next Day or 2nd Day Air, especially during the summer months. House of Pies doesn't guarantee that your baked goods will be in perfect condition upon arrival if you go with ground shipping. And, during the holidays, the bakery recommends ordering your pies well in advance if you're planning on serving your dessert for a specific event - preferably choosing a ship-out date that's going to get your pie there 2+ days early. Just freeze or refrigerate until your special occasion.

Shipping insurance is a good idea

You may also want to add the Shipping Protection offered during checkout. With that extra service, House of Pies will give you an item refund or replacement if something isn't quite right with your pie when it's delivered. This is also the only protection you'll have if your pie goes astray during delivery, so it's worth the surcharge. All of your options will be displayed when you get to the checkout, but it's typically around $2.

Limited but good feedback specific to pie delivery

We're really glad to see reviews on the pie delivery options at House of Pies: many of their competitors who also have brick-and-mortar locations are pretty silent when it comes to customer sentiment about delivery specifically. There aren't a ton of them here - it ranges from a couple to about a dozen - but we're happy to report that they're almost all 4 and 5 stars, and that House of Pies doesn't filter out the very small number of less-than-positive ratings (someone gave the Strawberry Rhubarb pie a 2-star score because they thought it was "too sweet”...but they gave it to friends who loved it).

Trustworthy option for pie delivery

House of Pies is a pie shop we really like. You can't beat the prices (especially with free shipping), customer feedback is almost universally positive, and everyone says the pies are absolutely delicious. While the company could expand its options to include a few gluten-free options in its delivery menu, we're still really happy with everything we see here. You should feel good about giving House of Pies a try.

Pie Delivery FAQ

Absolutely! Most pie delivery services use advanced packaging techniques, like vacuum sealing and insulated containers with gel packs, to keep pies fresh during transit. Many also ship overnight or via expedited services for peak freshness.
It depends on the vendor. Most pies are flash-frozen to lock in flavor and need to be thawed before serving, but some companies offer pies that are shipped fresh and ready to enjoy right out of the box. Check the product details to know what to expect.
You can find just about any pie you're craving! From classics like apple, pumpkin, and pecan to specialty flavors like lemon meringue, peanut butter chocolate, or even savory pot pies, there's something for everyone.
Storage instructions usually come with the pie. Fresh pies can often be kept at room temperature for 1-2 days or refrigerated for longer shelf life. Frozen pies should go straight into your freezer if not baked and eaten immediately.
Definitely! Many services let you schedule deliveries for special dates or holidays. Some even offer customization options, like adding a personal note or custom decorations for events like birthdays or anniversaries.
Prices vary depending on the pie, bakery, and shipping method. Expect to pay anywhere from $30 to $60 for the pie, with additional charges ranging from $7 to $50, depending on how quickly your order will arrive. Some sites offer free or discounted shipping on large orders or subscriptions.
Most reputable vendors have a customer service team ready to help. They typically offer refunds, replacements, or discounts if your pie arrives damaged or not as expected. Be sure to document the issue with photos and contact them promptly.
When you're trying to pick a pie company, look for customer reviews, flavor variety, shipping options, and clear policies. Comparing a few services will help you find one that appeals to your taste (and budget). Don't forget to check for seasonal deals or sampler options to try multiple flavors.

Continued from above...

Pies hold a special place in culinary history, dating back thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians are credited with the earliest pie-like recipes, typically made with oats, honey, and dates. (Bake like an Egyptian?) The concept evolved as it traveled through Greece and Rome, where meat-filled pies became a staple.

By the time pies reached medieval Europe, they had transformed into a versatile dish with sweet and savory options wrapped in sturdy crusts. Today, pies are a beloved dessert and comfort food in many cultures, with flavors that range from classic to cutting-edge.

Speaking of flavors, traditional favorites like apple, pumpkin, and pecan remain at the top of the list, especially during the holidays. But adventurous bakers have introduced novel creations to delight the foodie in all of us. Imagine a tangy-sweet key lime pie infused with coconut, a decadent chocolate-bourbon pecan pie, or a savory dinnertime pie like tomato-basil ricotta. Pies continue to adapt to modern tastes, making them a perennial crowd-pleaser.

Ready to order pies online? We are too! As you browse all of your options, here are some key factors to consider when choosing a website:

  • Flavor selection. Look for a site that offers the flavors you love, plus unique options you might want to try. Variety is the spice of life, after all.
  • Customization options. Some sites allow you to personalize your pie, whether it's adding a gift message to your order or choosing a specific crust or filling. This will be especially important if you or your gift recipient need a gluten-free crust or a sugar-free ingredient list.
  • Shipping and delivery. Double-check that the vendor ships to your area. Also, how much should you expect to pay for delivery?
  • Customer reviews. Honest feedback from other pie-loving customers can reveal how reliable a site is for quality, packaging, and service. Does the company have a strong reputation with the Better Business Bureau?
  • Satisfaction guarantee. Just in case something goes wrong, it's helpful to know how the company handles issues like damaged or late deliveries.

Ordering pies online is a deliciously easy way to enjoy this timeless treat, and the pie fans at Top Consumer Reviews have evaluated and ranked some of today's most popular pie purveyors (say THAT ten times fast). With so many options at your fingertips, you're sure to find the perfect slice for any occasion - and have it conveniently delivered right to your doorstep!
