Looking for a way to deal with your PMS that doesn't require taking pills every day? The PatchMD Topical Patch for PMS is a great way to try an alternative to capsules. The patches are made by PatchMD, which is a provider that offers patch versions of your favorite vitamins and supplements. The brand is featured on plenty of news sites like Forbes and Woman'sDay. And, PMS support isn't the only thing you can grab at this patch one-stop shop. You can find patches for your multivitamins, iron, aging, calcium, menopause, allergies, hangovers, and more.
Two kinds of PMS relief
There are two versions of PatchMD Topical Patch for your PMS: day or night patches (and each has slightly different ingredients). The patches come in 30-day supply packs with the recommendation that you use 1 patch per day throughout the month. The patches are made in an FDA-registered facility, and all of the PMS patches are gluten- and latex-free for safe application on your skin.
Priced between $18.95 to $23.95 per month
Depending on where you buy your PatchMD Topical Patch for PMS, you can find slightly different prices. At one retailer we saw costs as low as $18.95. At another, the patches were all $23.95. At the time of our review, there weren't options to get larger packs than 30 patches. So, if you want to stock up, you will need to buy multiple boxes. However, the prices are reasonable, and around the same range as most capsule supplements.
Fights the full range of symptoms across night and day
The ingredients differ slightly for PatchMD Topical Patch depending on if you choose the day or night variety. Let's talk about the ingredients they have in common first:
Now, the day relief is meant to target cramps, fatigue, mood swings, breast tenderness, and anxiety. So, it also includes vitamin C, vitamin B6, iron, evening primrose oil, chaste tree berries, and ginger root. The night relief is meant to help with sleep cycle interruptions, cramps, restlessness, mood swings, nausea, and anxiety so it includes magnesium and chamomile extract on top of the shared ingredients.
30-day returns vary by retailer
As with most PMS relief products in our review, the return policy changes depending on where you buy. For most retailers, the PatchMD Topical Patch will be non-returnable, but you may be able to request a refund within 30 days. One retailer has a solid refund policy that's highly reliable, while another states that if you open your patches, you won't get any money back beyond store credit.
Up to 50% off for subscribe and save
On one retailer, there was a buy 2 get 1 free deal for getting patches by PatchMD. We also found a 50% discount from one location if you decide to subscribe and save. One retailer had both the day and night varieties on sale for $19.95 per package. So, if you shop around for PatchMD Topical Patch, you may find excellent deals. However, some retailers only take PayPal payments, which may not be ideal for those who prefer to pay with their credit cards.
Middle-of-the-road product
PatchMD itself holds an "B+” rating from the Better Business Bureau. This is due to a range of complaints about the company's customer service (though PatchMD does respond to all complaints on the BBB). On different retailers, the PatchMD Topical Patch for PMS holds an average score of 3 stars out of 5. There are some concerns over the effectiveness (though PatchMD's other products earn high praise). The scores were the same for the day and night varieties.
Best for those who want a pill alternative
While the patch may be a great solution for those who hate taking capsules, it may not be the most effective PMS relief out there. Reviews show that women are ambivalent about the overall patch experience, and the BBB shows that PatchMD could do some work on its customer service too. But if you're sure you don't want to take pills, PatchMD Topical Patch for PMS may be a great option to try.
Shark Week, Aunt Flo, Red Wedding, Code Red… whatever you call your period, we know that time of the month is the worst. And PMS before and around your monthly cycle? Ugh. It's a struggle every woman knows. Whether you're suffering from mental/emotional symptoms or physical symptoms, it feels like an unfair extension to an already rough week.
You deserve a little extra TLC during your time of the month. What are some things that help? Well, doctors say you can try to get more sleep, be more active (clearly, these doctors have never had PMS before), lower stress with medicines, eat more proteins like fish and milk, and stay away from salty or sugary foods. On top of that, supplements are helpful to help keep your body working properly and mitigate how badly you feel during your period.
PMS is partly caused by the rise and fall of your hormone levels throughout your cycle. Estrogen and progesterone are crucial to balancing your body and your mood. Symptoms for PMS can start up to 10 days before your period and usually end around the day your period begins (wow, lucky us, right?).
There are a range of symptoms that differ from person to person. They can be emotion-based like depression, anxiety, mood swings, short temper, a desire to be alone, difficulty focusing, and forgetfulness. You can also experience physical symptoms like tenderness or fullness in your breasts, cramps or pressure, headaches, bloating, weight gain, constipation, restlessness, acne, nausea, tiredness, and back pain.
Fortunately, there are tons of medicines, supplements, and other options out there to target your PMS symptoms. From capsules and patches to pain relievers and diuretics, you can find PMS relief in a variety of places. Particularly helpful supplements might have ingredients like Vitamin B6 or magnesium to help with mood and muscle-related concerns. Minerals like calcium can also help relieve your symptoms and keep you feeling your best even when the worst week of the month is around the corner.
If you're ready to kick PMS to the curb, but don't know which PMS relief products to choose, don't stress (really, don't - that's one of the things that makes PMS worse). We're here to help you find the best option to make you feel like yourself again, so keep these factors in mind:
