The Best Pool Table Stores

Who Sells the Best Pool Tables?

Sometimes referred to as billiards (though that's a slightly different game), pool has been played since the 1300s. While there are many ways to play, the most well-known is 8-ball or "stripes and solids" . The rules vary depending on where you play and with whom, but from dedicated pool halls to family game rooms alike, it can be as fun or strategic (or both) as you want to make it.

Buying a pool table can be challenging, mostly because of its size. Pool tables often weigh more than 1,000 pounds, so your average retailer isn't going to have many of them on display even if they offer them for sale: they just take up too much room and they're too hard to move. You might have a specialty store near you that sells recreational furniture (like foosball tables and barstools), but even then they're limited to the amount of floor space they have.

Top Consumer Reviews Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award

Wayfair is one of the biggest online-only retailers in the world, with just about everything you could imagine for your home. That includes pool tables. There are more than 300 different styles to choose from here, ranging from toy-like designs that can be folded up and used anywhere to high-end models you might spot in your favorite celebrity's mansion photos.

Toy-like tables for under $200

On the low end of the spectrum at Wayfair, you'll find the RACK Leo 48" Folding Billiard/Pool Table. It was sale priced at the time of this review for just $134.64, a savings of 52% off its regular list price. While obviously not the fanciest pool table you'll ever see, it has options for green or blue felt, comes with a lifetime limited warranty and plenty of accessories (including the cues, balls, chalk, and triangle rack), and has leg levelers for a truly even playing surface. This pool table is ideal if space is an issue, and it's a good way for kids to learn to play before upgrading to a full-size model.

Got $30,000?

Wayfair also offers several high-end pool tables made by Vinci Homes. The most expensive is the 9' model that comes in all-black or black/gold finish. Vinci's description calls this table "the most exquisite modern interpretation of the greatest era and lifestyle the world has ever known" , and Wayfair goes on to mention that this table is popular in world-class resorts and celebrity homes. With a price tag of $29,599.99, we can see why. Hey, at least the shipping is free - on any orders of $35+, including this 1,000-lb. behemoth! Unsurprisingly, there were no customer reviews on this pool table.

Nice options for under $2,000

But, if you're not looking for either a toy-style table or one that costs more than a small vehicle, Wayfair has plenty of mid-range options too, ranging from $500-$2,000. With over 500 customer ratings averaging 4.5/5 stars, the Newport 7' Pool Table by Hathaway Games is one of their most popular models. This multi-function table has a ping pong conversion top that can also be used for board games and puzzles - or as a dining table - because this purchase comes with bench seating too. It was on sale, priced at $1,714.92 (41% off) at the time of this review, but it was out of stock in black and brown and only available in walnut finish.

Plenty of details in the description

No matter which pool table you're considering, you'll have no trouble getting all of the details you could possibly want. Wayfair tells you exactly when you can expect it to arrive, how much it weighs and all of its dimensions, plenty of photos in different settings, a customer Q&A section, and user-submitted photos with many of the reviews.

Best Pool Table Stores

Consider professional installation and/or extended warranties

You may also want to consider adding expert assembly and/or a protection plan to your pool table. It's not cheap - on the Newport we described, for example, professional setup added another $427.99 to the cost, and a five-year extended warranty was $250.99 - but either of those one-time fees average out to practically nothing over the life of your table.

Get free help

Not sure which pool table would be right for your game room? Worried about it fitting in your space or whether or not you can assemble it on your own? Wayfair offers free assistance via toll-free number and live chat through midnight EST.

30-day returns

How about returns? Wayfair's 30-day return policy applies even to big items like pool tables. That sounds great - until you start running the numbers on what it would cost to send it back, since you're on the hook for any return shipping fees. And, your refund will have the original delivery costs (what Wayfair paid for your free shipping) deducted from the total. In all likelihood, you'd be better off selling it privately instead of trying to send your pool table back to Wayfair.

Still #1 for pool tables - and anything else for your home

No, Wayfair isn't exactly a specialist in recreation room entertainment. But, they're still our favorite place to buy a pool table: why not get the best selection at great prices? Add in free shipping, helpful customer service, and the ability to see feedback and reviews from buyers, and it's easy to see why Wayfair is still in our first-place spot among retailers of pool tables.

Family Leisure Review 4.5 Star Rating

Family Leisure

4.5 Star Rating
  • Over 50 pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $2,500 to $10,620
  • Free shipping
  • Free in-network installation
  • 30-day return policy
  • "A+" rated and accredited by the BBB
  • In business for 40+ years

Family Leisure got its start in 1967 as J&J Distributing Company, selling vending machines, swimming pools, and yes, pool tables too. Cincinnati is the city that this company calls home, with in-store locations in nine other cities and an online store serving the continental US.

Use filters to narrow down the options

You'll find more than 50 pool tables on offer here. Prices typically range from $2,500 to $10,620, but some models require you to call for a quote. If you're brand-new to pool tables, you may want to read through Family Leisure's Buyers Guide first. Otherwise, jump right in and use the filters to sort through your choices by brand, size, style, or finish. For example, maybe you have a strong loyalty to Brunswick or Presidential Billiards, or you already know your perfect pool table needs to come with a dining table top/insert.

50+ design options include sports and armed forces

Your pool table can also coordinate with some of your favorite sports teams from the NHL, NCAA, and more. Also, if you'd like to show off your pride as a member of the military, Family Leisure has pool tables with the insignias of all five branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard).

Ample info in the product description

Click on any pool table to see all of its specifications, from the size and build to the details on the slate, pockets, and warranty. Many of the tables here give you a range of color options for the felt, come with a free starter accessory kit with optional upgrades, and some also allow you to specify the size (7', 8', or 9'). Although Family Leisure allows customers to leave reviews, we didn't spot many pool tables that actually had any.

Best Pool Table Stores

Many customers get free delivery and installation

A big reason to give serious thought to buying your pool table from this store is the free delivery and professional installation. As long as you live within the service area of one of Family Leisure's network of installers, you're good to go. That could easily cost you $500 or more with any other retailer, and it sure beats having to figure out how to move your pool table from its drop off location during a typical "curbside delivery" .

30-day returns

On pool tables and all other orders, Family Leisure offers a standard 30-day return policy. All of the shipping fees (inbound and outbound) will be deducted from your refund, and you'll need to reach out to the store via email or toll-free number to make the arrangements.

Great reputation

Generally speaking, Family Leisure has a good reputation. The Better Business Bureau gives the retailer an "A+" rating and accreditation, and there were only a couple of complaints filed with the BBB over the three years prior to this review. And, while most customer feedback relates to everything sold by this store and not specifically to pool tables, Family Leisure's ratings average 4.7 out of 5 stars. People praise the on-time delivery and responsive customer service team, though we found several mentions of items being incorrectly duplicated within an order. That's one thing when it's pool chemicals and another thing entirely if you get charged for two pool tables (though we think that's much less likely to happen, of course).

Definitely worth your time

There's so much to love at Family Billiards, not the least of which is the free professional installation for many customers. Be sure to stop by their online store to see if they've got the pool table of your dreams in stock and ready to deliver.

Ozone Billiards Review 4.5 Star Rating

Ozone Billiards

4.5 Star Rating
  • About 11 pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $2,800 to $8,995
  • Lifetime warranty on all tables (when installed by Ozone-approved technician)
  • Over 92,000 five-star ratings from customers
  • "A+" rated and accredited by the BBB
  • In business since 2001

Ozone Billiards is a pool powerhouse: if you need it for your game, chances are good that you'll find it here. This family-owned business has been around for over 20 years.

Less than a dozen pool tables

Despite being a pool specialty store, Ozone Billiards doesn't have a ton of options when it comes to tables. Their inventory has gone down since our last review, with just 11 models to choose from, in their own brand and in a very limited range of styles. Every pool table here is priced between $2,800 and $3,900, and the only available size is 8'. The one exception is the 9' Predator model, priced at $8,995. At least that makes this store quick to shop. You only need to decide on your desired style -antique, modern, rustic, and so on - and then select your options.

Get really specific with personalization

And, those options and customizations are numerous with Ozone Billiards' pool tables, allowing you to get a table that's a great fit for your style and your overall decor. For example, the Boston table in Ash Grey Oak has more than 30 different felt colors, and three styles of embroidering on the rail (with eight different thread colors) for the text that the customer specifies.

White glove installation = lifetime warranty

Each product page also shows you the cost of white glove installation, depending on the delivery state. Why would you pay anywhere from $495 to $895 for an Ozone-approved installer if you can do it yourself or hire it out locally? That's easy to answer: because you don't want to void your lifetime warranty.

Best Pool Table Stores

No returns after installation

How about returns? Ozone has a one-year return on most purchases when items are in unused, original condition, but they'll let you play with a pool cue for up to 60 days and still be eligible for a refund. Pool tables are non-returnable once they've been installed (which is reasonable). If you want to cancel your order before it ships out, Ozone will gladly oblige; you can also return your uninstalled table, but you're

Nearly 100,000 five-star ratings

The vast majority of shopper reviews relate to Ozone Billiards' accessories like pool cues and table covers, not to the pool tables themselves. Still, the company has an "A+" rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau; in other places, 75% of customers give Ozone a five-star score. Almost everyone gets on-time delivery and great support if they need help, though when we see complaints they usually mention disappointment with the quality of custom items. Still, it's impressive to see over 92,000 five-star reviews and more than 20,000 four-star ratings, with just a few hundred that only give Ozone one or two.

Small selection but well-established pool table store

While Ozone Billiards offers fewer pool table options than before - and far fewer than many of its rivals - we still give this store a high rating of our own. It's hard to argue with more than 100,000 happy customers; even if most of them didn't make a big-ticket purchase like a pool table, it's still proof that Ozone Billiards is getting it right almost all of the time.

Pool Tables Review 4 Star Rating

Pool Tables

4 Star Rating
  • About 30 pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $2,800 to $5,000
  • Limited lifetime warranty on all tables (not transferable)
  • Shipping is included for most locations in the lower 48 United States
  • All sales final on pool tables
  • Showrooms in CA, NJ, GA, OR, TX
  • "A+" rated by the BBB
  • In business for nearly 20 years

In business since 2004, Pool Tables offers just one brand: Spencer Marston. Although that might seem surprising - a company with such an all-encompassing name might reasonably be expected to carry several manufacturers of pool tables - what you'll find here is well-constructed, and experienced players say this equipment rivals all of the big-name brands in the industry.

More tables - and more $$$

Since our last evaluation of Pool Tables, their inventory has increased - and so have their prices. You'll now find almost 30 table styles to choose from, ranging in price from $2,800 to $5,000 (though there was a $200 discount code at the top of the page for a bit of savings). There's no way to sort them (by price, style, or features), but it's easy enough to scroll through the selection until you see a pool table you like. You'll spot ones that can be used outdoors, have a dining table top, and that come with seating benches that fit neatly beneath the table when not in use.

Make your pool table reflect your style

When you view the product page for a pool table, you'll see all of the available upgrades and customization choices. For example, on one of Pool Table's most affordable models - the Arlington, priced at $2,799.99 - there were seven standard cloth and 22 Teflon-coated color choices, three table lengths, about a dozen embroidery colors, a choice between the complimentary deluxe accessory kit or an upgrade to premier, and the ability to add a table tennis top. Why shouldn't your pool table be as unique as you?

Lifetime warranty when you pay for white glove setup

Every pool table sold here comes with free delivery to most addresses within the continental US. Pool Tables strongly recommends that you pay for white glove installation through their nationwide network. It'll cost $499 in most locations, but it's essential if you don't want to void the limited lifetime warranty on your Spencer Marston table. By the way, that warranty won't transfer if you sell or give your pool table to someone else.

Best Pool Table Stores

All sales final

We're not big fans of the "all sales final" approach some smaller pool table companies take, including this one. Even though pool tables are hardly something you buy on a whim and then take back to the store, there's always the chance that a customer miscalculated the area where the table will go or has some other issue - and it's nice to know you have options if that happens. Not here, unfortunately.

Customers love this pool table store

But, that's really a minor consideration when you look at how pleased customers are with the experience at Pool Tables. Not only does the store have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but we also found plenty of recent reviews from shoppers who said that Pool Tables offers a phenomenal experience from start to finish. With many of their competitors, we found complaints about communication, especially while waiting for orders to be delivered, or about the quality of the installation. That's not the case here. Over 86% of Pool Tables' customers give the store a perfect five-star rating.

High marks for this retailer

While we can't make Pool Tables our highest-ranked retailer (because some shoppers are loyal to billiards brands they won't find here), we can give them an enthusiastic recommendation to anyone who wants a quality pool table with generous warranty coverage and the support of a fantastic customer service team.

The Pool Table Store Review 4 Star Rating

The Pool Table Store

4 Star Rating
  • 60+ pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $2,625 to $16,209
  • Free curbside delivery nationwide
  • White glove delivery available for a fee
  • All sales final once shipped
  • Pre-owned tables available to local customers

The Pool Table Store is a brick-and-mortar retailer located in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida. While most of its customers are local, the company offers nationwide freight shipping across its selection of more than 60 different pool tables, other game room options like table tennis and air hockey, putting greens, pub tables, and so on.

Many brands and table styles to choose from

You won't find any cheaply-made pool tables here. Prices range from $2,625 to over $16,000, and you'll want to narrow down the options by brand, size, or style so that you don't have to browse all 5+ dozen. Brands sold by The Pool Table Store include Brunswick Billiards, LUXE, California House, Presidential Billiards, and several others.

Check out the details and upgrades

When you select a pool table that interests you, you'll get plenty of information and choices. For example, the Blake Pool Table by HB Home had nearly 30 cloth color choices, the option to upgrade to Simonis (tournament material) for $250, two accessory kit upgrades, and white glove installation for an extra $299.

How can they help you?

Plus, one of the advantages of working with a small business instead of a big corporation is customer service. You can easily reach The Pool Table Store's experts during regular business hours to ask any questions you have, get recommendations, or double-check the estimated delivery date.

Best Pool Table Stores

No returns

We weren't thrilled to see that The Pool Table Store has an "all sales final" policy once your item has shipped. True, in all reality most people aren't returning their pool tables no matter where they buy them (since most retailers make the customer pay for the return shipping fees, which get expensive fast with heavy items like these) - but it felt a little standoffish to see that it's not even an option here.

Caters mostly to locals

Most of the feedback we found for The Pool Table Store comes from customers local to their Orlando-area brick-and-mortar store: lots of praise for personalized attention, pool table-related services like re-felting, and so on. Comments about delivery in other parts of the US weren't as numerous, and TPTS' social media channels went pretty quiet about a year prior to this review. (But local ratings were spotted within the last year, so no worries about the store being out of business.)

Pre-owned options if you live nearby

One perk here that's only available for customers in Central Florida is the ability to buy a pre-owned or floor model pool table. At the time of this evaluation, there were two gently used options, an 8' Brunswick for $2,495 and an 8' Renaissance Pro for $8,999. Both tables included free delivery and setup, but customers had to call for details (how far is the delivery radius).

Deserves your consideration

As one of the newest pool table stores in our review, we're happy to give this retailer our recommendation. The Pool Table Store offers a good range of styles across various price points, their customer reps are getting positive feedback, and local customers might be able to take advantage of additional choices in the pre-owned inventory. Give this store a look.

Walmart Review 3.5 Star Rating

3.5 Star Rating
  • Over 1,000 pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $6 to $5,410
  • Free delivery on some pool tables
  • Customer reviews on many items
  • In-home installation available on some tables
  • Return policy depends on fulfillment (Walmart or third-party seller)

Who doesn't love a good deal at Walmart? The next time you're filling your online shopping cart, you might be tempted to just sneak a "little" pool table into your order - right along with your groceries and shampoo. With over a thousand styles to choose from, you're bound to find something that could work for your game room.

Tabletop toys under $100

As you'd expect, the pool tables sold by Walmart range from cheap little toys to mid-range, sturdy models you'd see in a typical game room - but nothing super-high-end or fancy. In the Under $100 range, you'll get little tabletop styles that are more for amusement than anything else. Since most people researching pool tables aren't exactly looking for plastic toys, let's take a look at the more traditional styles sold by Walmart instead. To get started, you should probably use the filters to narrow down the results by size or another aspect you have in mind, like the price range.

Want a $5,400 table in under a week?

The most expensive pool table offered by Walmart at the time of this review was the 8' American Craftsman Ashwood Slate design by AFD Home, which cost $5,410. It didn't have many details: only one photo, no customer reviews (but are we really surprised? Who buys a $5k pool table from Walmart?), and one long description with a few bits of info that might be important (like the limited lifetime warranty and the materials used in the pool table's construction). We were impressed that we could get it delivered for free in less than a week.

Best Pool Table Stores

More than 200 reviews on an $850 pool table

Walmart's most popular pool table, with almost 300 reviews averaging 3.4 out of 5 stars, is the Barrington Billiards' Ball and Claw Leg 90" Pool Table, which comes with a bonus dartboard/cue rack. Priced at $849.99, it's a pretty solid value for the size and is available in burgundy, brown, or green felt. Despite being much less expensive than the one we described earlier, this pool table had much more to go on. Not just the 200+ reviews and ratings, but also a detailed description, multiple product images, and the helpful tidbit that it "does not fit in most vehicles" if you were thinking of ordering online and picking it up at your local Walmart.

Pay attention to items offered by Walmart vs. third parties

Speaking of which, there's one aspect of buying your pool table (or anything else, really) from Walmart's online store that you need to be aware of: not everything sold there is actually fulfilled by Walmart itself. For example, the highest-end pool table was on offer through a third-party seller offering free delivery and 30-day returns, while the Barrington Billiards model came via Walmart's freight shipping but with a 90-day return window. This "marketplace" style of the Walmart store isn't a bad thing, but it makes a difference if you think you might need an exchange or refund - and it influences whether or not in-home installation is offered as an add-on service.

Surprisingly good for budget-friendly pool tables

You might be surprised at how much Walmart really has to offer when it comes to buying pool tables. No, you're not going to get anything truly high-end, but this could be just the right retailer if you want a decent pool table at a reasonable price. Just keep an eye on which business will be fulfilling your order and how that may impact your shipping costs and returns.

Legacy Billiards Review 3.5 Star Rating

Legacy Billiards

3.5 Star Rating
  • About 40 pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $2,600 to $8,000+
  • All pool tables come with free accessory kit, napped cloth, limited lifetime warranty (indoor) or three-year limited warranty (outdoor)
  • Free shipping in the continental US
  • 30-day return policy
  • In business since 2001

Legacy Billiards has been making value-oriented, budget-friendly pool tables since 2001. Headquartered in Tennessee, this company's tables are often found in retail stores offering game room equipment.

Good variety of tables to browse

As you browse the pool tables sold through the Legacy Billiards site, you'll initially think that their collection is expansive, with over 40 separate items shown. However, if you pay attention, you'll notice that many of them are repeats - different only in table size. Still there are a decent number of styles to consider, from the budget-friendly basics of the Colt, Mustang, Stallion and Blazer designs (all starting at $2,599.99), up to the Ella and Baylor tables that include a dining top and seating for extra functionality (starting at $7,999.99).

Click on a table to see options

Every pool table at Legacy Billiards will come with a free accessory kit and napped pool table cloth. Looking for upgrades or to make your table more uniquely yours? The options are really easy to see on every product page. For example, with the Baylor table we mentioned, there are three finish options, four included and eight upgraded cloth colors and types, storage and installation upgrades, two accessory kit upgrades, and the ability to add a table tennis conversion top.

Keep your warranty valid by purchasing 5-star installation

When you buy a pool table directly from Legacy Billiards, you get free shipping as long as you live within the lower 48 United States. Be aware that you'll need to add 5 Star Installation (for a fee, usually $799) if you want to keep your warranty from being voided: the warranty coverage is lifetime limited on all indoor tables and three years on outdoor models.

Best Pool Table Stores

Cancellations possible prior to shipping

Legacy Billiards offers a 30-day return policy. You're responsible for any delivery fees to get your table back to their location, of course. We appreciate that the company will try to process a cancellation on your order if you change your mind prior to the pool table entering the shipping process.

More feedback, please

We wish that this pool table retailer had a little more feedback. We can't find a Better Business Bureau listing for them anymore (in our last review, it was easy to locate and it was a terrific "A+" , for reference). Customer ratings are almost always positive, but there aren't a lot of them to consider - about the pool tables or the store itself. We're not concerned that this isn't an active business; social media channels were up and running at the time of this review. But, aside from a handful of undated testimonials on the Legacy Billiards store, we didn't find nearly as much commentary as we expected for a pool table brand that's often featured in other retailers' inventory.

Good but we need to see more customer comments

Legacy's pool tables offer quite a bit of value for what you spend. We're confident that the company delivers what it promises, offers a decent level of customer service, and can be trusted as a reliable brand. In order to move up in our rankings, however, they'll need to establish a bigger footprint within the industry, particularly with a greater number of current customer reviews. Until then, this pool table store is holding steady with a 3.5-star rating once again.

Home Depot Review 3 Star Rating

Home Depot

3 Star Rating
  • Just over two dozen pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $25 to $3,540
  • Free ship-to-store
  • 90-day returns

You've shopped at the Home Depot for paint and plywood, but did you know that they also sell pool tables? That was news to us too. You're not going to be amazed by their selection of just over two dozen styles, but there's still a little something for everyone here.

Most expensive table is under $4,000

The most expensive pool table sold by Home Depot is the Barrington 100" Slate-Tech Billiard Table set. Priced at $3,539.99, it comes with Canadian maple cues, a ball rack and balls, felt brush and chalk. Compared with a traditional slate table, this model is much lighter (380 lbs. compared with 1,000+) - because Slate-Tech is a combination of marble and composite materials. That's good news if you're ever tasked with moving your pool table to another room in the house.

Toy pool table for silly fun

Home Depot also offers a toy-like "pool table" , the Trademark Mini Table-Top. You'll get what you'd expect for a $25 purchase: a little bit of fun that you can carry around with you, but nothing that comes even remotely close to a full billiards experience. Still, at the time of this evaluation, 14 customers had rated it with an average of over four stars.

Customer ratings can help you decide

The vast majority of pool tables at Home Depot fall in the $500-$1,000 range. Popular brands include Hathaway and Fat Cat, and their most-purchased model is the Fat Cat Trueshot 6' Foldable Billiard Table. For just $626.30, you get a 6' table without all of the space requirements: put it wherever you want, whenever you feel like playing. Over 40 customers rated this pool table, averaging a little over four stars. We liked being able to read through their comments and see the photos of the table in use, but there was nothing to indicate how much this pool table weighs. Also, even though Home Depot offers a Q&A section, all of the ones we saw posted here didn't have a response.

Best Pool Table Stores

No free delivery

Home Depot doesn't offer free delivery on most of their pool tables: your cost will depend on where you live and the table you select, but in our area we were quoted a curbside truck delivery fee of $55 for Home Depot's most expensive model. You can also choose free ship-to-store, but of course that means it's up to you to transport it to your home and get it set up. That, too, depends on where you live and the brick-and-mortar Home Depot locations in your area.

90-day returns

With respect to returns, Home Depot's standard 90-day policy applies. Be aware that the policy states that items need to be "new, unopened" to qualify. But really, most people aren't setting up their pool tables, playing for a few weeks, and then deciding to ask for a refund, right? It's a nice window, though, if you change your mind and haven't set it up yet (or, who knows, maybe you have some really nice relatives who don't coordinate their gift-giving and you get two for your birthday?).

Not really remarkable

There's no reason not to buy your pool table from Home Depot if they've got one in stock that you like. This retailer has a reputation of offering good customer service, and if something goes wrong with your pool table - it's damaged in transit or pieces are missing - we're sure they'll take care of it. But, with only a couple dozen table options, most on the lower end of the quality and price spectrum, Home Depot's shoppers looking for a heavy-duty, high-quality design will likely wind up buying from somewhere else.

The Billiard Factory got its start in 1975, created by the appropriately-named Larry Stick as a single retail store in Houston, Texas. The company now spans ten retail stores and a fully-stocked online shop as well, making it easy to buy pool tables, shuffleboards, accessories and furniture from just about anywhere.

Save 5% if you provide your email

During our most recent visit to the Billiard Factory online store, we got a pop-up discount offer. If we provided our email address, we could get a 5% discount on our first order - with some exclusions listed in the fine print. You can opt in anytime through the orange "sign up and save" link featured throughout the site.

Several pool tables priced over $35K

The range of pool tables sold by Billiard Factory ranges from everyday to extravagant. Outfitting an Italian villa and need a pool table to match? Billiard Factory has a number of tables in that vein, all with Italian names and price tags starting at about $35,000. At the time of this review, the Barokko 9' model was clearance priced all the way down to just $63,199.99 - but as a floor model, it was only on offer within the local markets of Texas, Nevada and Florida. As an alternative, you could always drop down to the Novecento's retail price of $48,099.99. We'd recommend white glove installation on this pool table: at $1,399.99, it's well worth the extra $500 compared with standard curbside delivery.

Hard to tell which tables can be ordered nationwide

But, realistically speaking, those aren't the pool tables most customers are in the market to buy, and Billiard Factory also offers several tables for less than $3,000. For example, the Alpine has a starting price of a penny less than $2,500, comes in 7' and 8' lengths, 18 different felt color options, and three different accessory kits (one included and two upgrades). However, it's only sold in Texas. Ditto that for the equally-priced Bevro; the Adams (at $2,699.99) didn't even have a way to order it online, just a "request more info" button, and we had to jump over to the Jefferson style to finally find one that was available for order and not just in the Lone Star State. As you can see, you could spend a lot of time clicking around on the Billiard Factory just trying to figure out which tables you can buy, based on what you like and where you live.

Limited returns

Billiard Factory has a 14-day return policy on all furniture items, which includes pool tables. You can only return yours if it's new and unopened, and you'll pay a 25% restocking fee.

Reputation is on the decline

Unfortunately, we've had to drop this pool table store significantly in our rankings since our last review. The Better Business Bureau now gives Billiard Factory a "D-" rating for failing to respond to three complaints filed in the past year. There's no reason for a company that's been around for more than 40 years to leave concerns unanswered. Usually, though, we would take that tiny number of complaints with a grain of salt - but when we look at customer comments beyond the BBB, this store's track record doesn't really look any better. More than a few people had orders go unfulfilled - and then struggled to get Billiard Factory reps to process a refund. Most of the positive comments came from customers who made their purchase at one of the company's retail stores and not their online shop.

Disappointing overall

Long story short, if there's a Billiard Factory near you, it might be worth a stop to see if they have a pool table you love. On the other hand, if you're ordering from a distance and relying on their internet team to get your long-awaited purchase delivered quickly and hassle-free, Billiard Factory could be a let-down. There are plenty of pool table stores that make it much easier to find what you need too. Take a look at the higher-rated retailers in our evaluation before you spend too much time (or money) here.

Coastal Pool & Game Room Review 2 Star Rating

Coastal Pool & Game Room

2 Star Rating
  • Over 240 pool tables to choose from
  • Prices range from $895 to $17,000+
  • Price match guarantee
  • In business for 15+ years

Coastal Pool & Game Room has been serving customers throughout New England for more than 15 years. Their inventory includes arcade games, shuffleboard tables, foosball and ping pong tables, pool tables, and more.

Not the easiest pool table store to shop

There are hundreds of pool tables to choose from when browsing the CPGR online store. You'll probably want to use the brand, size, or style links to make the process go a little faster, but it would be more helpful if this retailer offered actual filters for sorting. Another tricky aspect of shopping here is that many pool tables require you to request a price quote instead of having the cost displayed outright.

Everything from budget to bougie

You'll find both ends of the quality and budget spectrum sold by Coastal Pool & Game Room. The most affordable pool table they offer is the Danbury Beach 14-in-1 Multi Game Table by Playcraft, priced at $895. You get a lot of bang for your buck: shoot hoops, play ping pong or poker, enjoy board games like chess and checkers, and much more. In contrast, the $16,999+ Decotech Pool Table with Convertible Dining Top was the most expensive table (at least, among the models that didn't require customers to call for a quote) and had plenty of options for the buyer to choose from, including table size (7' or 9'), ball return, worsted billiard cloth, hydraulic lift, ping pong conversion top, and many others.

Price matching

If you find a pool table offered by Coastal Pool & Game Room for a lower price elsewhere, reach out to request a price match. The guarantee specifies that the total cost must include delivery, installation, accessories and fabric. All pool tables sold here include a free deluxe play kit, your choice of fabric color, a free pool table cover, and a one-year warranty, so don't forget to factor those in when determining if you need a price match.

Challenging to tell how much delivery will cost you

Speaking of delivery, you'll get white glove delivery at no cost here - but only on Plank & Hide tables, to addresses within 200 miles of their Milford, CT showroom. Other brands will require payment of a $699 white glove delivery fee; outside of that 200-mile radius, you'll have to contact CPGR for a price quote. And we're betting that, no matter where you live, it's going to be spendy.

New ownership = drop in customer satisfaction

We weren't excited to see that this retailer has a "C-" rating from the Better Business Bureau, but that "meh" rating is for failing to respond to one of just three complaints filed with the BBB: hardly cause for concern, in our book. But, when we moved on to customer feedback elsewhere, it lined up with that "below average" grade from the BBB. From what we can tell, ownership of this business changed sometime over the last year or so - ratings prior to that time were almost exclusively positive, but now they're not trending upward. One comment left within a week of this evaluation said when they called about an undelivered order, they were told that the new ownership didn't have to fulfill it because it was placed under the old management. Other comments described poor installation, pool table orders of $5,000+ that hadn't been delivered (or even updated) months later, and so on.

No returns

That's problematic when you consider that there's no return policy if you buy a pool table from this store. You could cancel your order before it ships, but you'll incur a 25% restocking fee. In other words, you could place an order online, wait several months with no updates, decide to cancel and buy somewhere else - and then get charged a fee for what, exactly?

Don't shop here unless you're local - and maybe not even then

If you live close enough to the Coastal Pool & Game Room brick-and-mortar store, you could drop by and see what they have to offer. That would also put you on a first-name basis with an employee you could contact if something goes wrong with your order or installation. But, for anyone else, we recommend choosing a different retailer for your pool table. There's nothing customer-friendly about the experience here, and you'll get better service with one of the higher-ranked stores in our review.

Continued from above...

The solution? You guessed it: buy your pool table online! Many brick-and-mortar stores offer their complete selection through their internet storefronts, and some retailers can save you money as an online-only merchant (since you're not paying for overhead on an actual shop location). If you want a truly customized table, with felt that perfectly matches your decor and every possible upgrade, this is the best way to do it - all while avoiding any pressure to buy something on the sales floor that isn't what you really had in mind.

But isn't delivery really expensive? No, because most online pool table stores give it to you for free. However, that usually doesn't include anything beyond curbside drop off. If you want professional installation - which we recommend, so that you get a perfectly-level pool table and an intact product warranty - you'll pay extra, either through the retailer's network or by hiring someone on your own. That can add $200 or much more to your cost, so keep that in mind.

What else should you consider when deciding where to buy your pool table? Here's a list of criteria you can use:

  • Selection. How many pool tables are in stock? Are there multiple options within your desired price range?
  • Price. What will you pay for the pool table you want? How much will it cost to upgrade to the felt color or other features you'd like, such as a ball return or a premium accessory kit? Is delivery included in the price?
  • Delivery Timeframe. How long will it take to get your pool table delivered? Some pool table stores can get it to you within a week, while others can take a month or longer.
  • Customer Service. What do people say about the overall experience with the pool table store, from sales to support? Will the installers show up on time? Will you get a fast, appropriate response if your pool table doesn't hold up as expected under normal use?

Pool Table Store FAQ

That depends on who you're asking! Billiards usually means any tabletop game that uses a cue ball and stick, while pool refers to a game with pockets. And then there's snooker, which has very specific rules related to the color point value of the 22 balls involved.
Obviously you'll need enough room for the table itself. But, don't forget to take into account the pool cues when you're playing! You need at least five feet of clearance on all sides of the table, since most cues are about that long.
There are cheap pool tables that cost under $100, but they're usually more like toys than actual equipment you'd use in a game room at your home. Most traditional pool tables start around $2000, with the most luxurious, high-end models coming in at $10,000 and up.
At a minimum, you'll need a pool cue and set of pool balls. They may or may not be included as part of the package when you purchase your pool table. Other common accessories are chalk for the cue tips, wall racks for holding your cues, a bridge stick for hard-to-reach shots, a table brush, and racks for setting up the balls on the table.
Pool tables can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. When your table is installed professionally, it's leveled for that particular spot; moving it can make the slate shift and cause the table to no longer be level. You may want to consider having your table moved by a technician; if you choose to do it yourself, a professional leveling and adjustment may be in order.
Brush, brush, brush. It can take months to break in new cloth on a pool table, and there's no such thing as "brushing too much" . If you choose to use a vacuum, make sure to use an attachment and not rotating brushes. You can also use a damp, lint-free towel every so often to wipe down the pool table's cloth.
You can - but you shouldn't. You could scratch the finish, damage the cloth, or even wind up making the table not level. It's recommended that you keep your table out of direct sunlight and use a pool table cover to protect it from dust.
Check the retailer's policy before making your purchase. Most stores won't accept returns on assembled products. Also, if you return a pool table that you haven't assembled yet, you'll likely have to pay restocking fees and/or return shipping costs. You might be better off trying to sell the table locally instead.
