One of the biggest, most memorable events for people in high school is going to prom. It is such a notable event that entire TV episodes and movies have centered around it. It's a time to dress up as fancy as you want, feel like a princess, and dance the night away with the guy of your dreams (or not!) and your friends. Once you get asked to prom, the first thing you'll do is start looking for your perfect dress.
It's not often you get to wear big, beautiful dresses just for fun, so most girls set the bar high for the type of prom dress they want. Not only can it make a bold fashion statement throughout the night, but it also lets the wearer feel confident and beautiful. Whether you want your dress long or short, bedazzled or plain, flowy or straight, sleeveless or not, there are thousands of options to choose from online.

Lulus is every girl's dream clothing store. They have a fantastic website, huge selection of all types of clothing in addition to prom dresses, helpful product reviews, a great return policy, free shipping, and competitive prices. To top it off, Lulus has an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau and thousands of customers who praise their customer service and high-quality items. This is the best place to find prom dresses online.
Macy's is one of the biggest department store chains in the United States. Besides being known for the huge Thanksgiving Day Parade they put on each year, they also have a massive selection of inventory to dress up your home and your closet. There is a decent selection of prom dresses at Macy's that include customer reviews and a generous 90-day return policy, should you have to use it. Overall Macy's is a great place to shop, so you might as well check out their prom dress selection and see if you can score something perfect for your special night here!
PromGirl has an impressive selection of prom dresses in addition to other formal gowns, shoes, and accessories. Their prices are competitive, especially considering the modern and elegant designs of their dresses. The Better Business Bureau gives PromGirl an "A+" rating, but customers have mixed feedback as to whether or not this is a reliable company. Luckily they have product reviews from customers on their dresses and a 7-day return policy to help ensure people end up happy with the prom dress they buy here.
Golden Asp began selling prom dresses in 1969 and is well-liked for their huge selection of dresses and competitive prices. The biggest risk when shopping at Golden Asp is that all sales are final, so you won't be able to get a refund if there is an issue with your dress. However, since there are over 1,400 prom dresses to choose from, mostly in sizes 00-16, customers might be able to get a prom dress in their regular size and have it fit well. It's also unclear what items are in-stock and ready to ship, so this might not be the quickest option if you're needing a prom dress fast.
David's Bridal is a popular place to shop for wedding and bridesmaid dresses. However, they also have a good selection of formal gowns for prom and other special occasions. Most prom dresses are between $100 and $200, but they have a decent variety of gowns on sale for less than $100. For returns, customers only have up to 7 days if they are unsatisfied with their dress. Many customers have complained that this process is not as straightforward as it seems and proves to be a hassle. David's Bridal has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau and a concerning amount of dissatisfied customers. Luckily not all reported experiences here are bad and most of the time people are in high-stress wedding planning situations when dealing with David's Bridal, which is what most reviews are about.
Windsor is an online clothing retailer that carries all the latest trends at prices that are staggeringly low compared to what you would pay elsewhere. Their prom dresses are sexy, but only cater to slim women as they are skin-tight and most of them range from sizes XS to XL and sometimes even XS to L. Most dresses are less than $100, which is an amazing deal if you're getting a gown that appears as it does on the website. However, some people report that the quality of clothing here is poor, customer service is impossible to work with, and shipping takes a long time. Positive reviews on Windsor's website seem to contradict this, so whether you'll get what you are hoping for from the company is unpredictable. Shopping here is risky, but it could pay off if you get a well-made dress that ends up fitting comfortably.
Boohoo sells all types of clothing at prices that are shockingly low. They run frequent sales giving as much as 50% off of all their items. Although there is a huge selection of clothing in general on Boohoo's site, their prom dress selection is weak. There are 144 dresses to choose from, but many of them don't really fit the bill for prom dresses, so you really don't have a lot of choices. Although Boohoo manages to keep positive customer reviews overall, they often have issues with damaged or missing orders and aren't the best place to find a variety of prom dresses.
Camille La Vie is an online dress retailer that sells gowns for formal events like prom, homecoming, weddings, quinceaneras, graduation, and other important events. They have a selection of pretty dresses, but there are only 144 styles to choose from and most of them have very limited sizing. On top of this, all sales are final, so there is no hope of returning a dress you aren't satisfied with. Camille La Vie doesn't do a great job with product descriptions on their dresses either, so we aren't thrilled with the idea of buying an expensive dress here.
Ever Pretty is an online-only dress retailer that sells gowns for most formal events, including prom. Their dresses are a bargain for such beautiful designs, but this may equal getting a low-quality dress. Ever Pretty has an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau and many customer complaints, mainly regarding issues with returns. Although their dresses look enticing, this might not be a reliable place to find well-fitted, high-quality prom dresses.
Milanoo has a beautiful collection of prom dresses in addition to homecoming, cocktail, and other multi-functional party dresses. Their prices are affordable and comparable to what we've seen from other retailers. Unfortunately Milanoo has overwhelmingly bad reviews from customers who claim their clothes are cheaply-made and do not resemble what is shown online. Customer service is difficult to work with and there are often issues with extremely slow shipping. Many people claim that Milanoo is a scam, so it's definitely best to avoid spending your money here.
