On the Lotrimin website

Lotrimin is one of many products made by Bayer Pharmaceuticals. It comes in a small tube for $19.97 that should stop ringworm dead in its tracks when used just once daily for 2 weeks. There are thousands of customer reviews for this product, most of which agree that this is an effective option for both relieving itching and curing ringworm. The main ingredient in Lotrimin is synthetic, so this is not great news for those who prefer to stick with gentle, homeopathic remedies. However, if you're open to an aggressive approach, Lotrimin will do the job.

On the Phytozine website

Phytozine relies on its active ingredient, Tolnaftate, to fight ringworm infections. It's marketed as providing instant itch relief and delivering results in as little as 30 minutes, but in reality customers say it takes longer than that. There are over 5,000 customer reviews for this product, which are somewhat mixed. However, when used every 3 hours as suggested for days (or weeks), most people see results. We like that you'll get a 90-day money back guarantee with your purchase, so if you find that this isn't the right solution for you, it's zero risk. Phytozine isn't our #1 option for ringworm, but it's still a good one.

On the Ringworm BLAST website

RingwormBLAST comes with promising sales pitches and flashy marketing, but we aren't sure it passes our test. A single jar of this cream is $19.95, which is affordable, and comes with a money-back guarantee that we appreciate. What we are disappointed by is the fact that although this product is supposedly all natural and plant-based, there is nothing in the product description or attached to the product itself that clearly lays out what the ingredients are. Between that lack of transparency and RingwormBLAST's mixed customer reviews, we can only give this product a below-average rating.

FungiFree makes a few different products to target fungal infections, including their Maximum Strength Antifungal Ringworm Cream. For $19.99 you can get a tub that is meant to provide results in healing ringworm within 1-2 weeks. Unfortunately, their full ingredient list is not shown and they don't have unbiased customer reviews listed yet. This could change in the near future, but for now we would opt for a faster-acting solution that is well-backed by verified customers.

On the iShanCare website

iShanCare's ringworm cream makes grand promises of being gentle and effective, but there isn't a lot to show for it. The company has little to no information published about itself, and the few reviews on their products are incentivized, leaving us unsure of how well this cream really works. iShanCare's ringworm cream is a bit more money than we'd need to spend with some higher-rated products, and they don't post a full list of ingredients on their product page, so we aren't enthusiastic about using this as a ringworm prodiuct.

What Are the Best Products for Ringworm Relief?

If you've recently discovered an itchy, scaly ring-shaped area on your skin, you're probably (correctly) suspecting that it could be ringworm. Other names for this condition are tinea, tinea capitis, tinea corporis, and dermatophytosis. More commonly, you may have heard of specific types of ringworm like athlete's foot (found on the feet) or jock itch (affecting the groin).

Overall, it's actually quite a common fungal infection with more than 3 million reported cases each year that can affect the hair, skin, or nails and is mostly found on the buttocks, arms, legs, or trunk. However, once you've contracted it, you need to figure out how to get rid of it as soon as possible to avoid further discomfort and prevent further spreading.

There are some basic recommendations for preventing ringworm altogether like avoiding contact with people you know have the condition, washing your hands frequently, keeping hands and feet clean and dry, wearing shoes in locker rooms and public showers, and disinfecting shared objects in public places like towels, workout equipment, and mats.

Although it's not too hard to self-diagnose ringworm, it would require a medical diagnosis if you wanted a prescription medication to eradicate it. This takes time and is often much more expensive than over-the-counter options available to you. There are a lot of companies that have formulated creams, gels, and pastes to gently, comfortably get rid of ringworm without having to go the prescription route. Many of them come with a money-back guarantee and reviews from other users to help you select the right one.

You may be surprised to find how many companies offer ringworm products. We've done a lot of the nitty-gritty research to help you select the best ones. We want you to find relief as quickly and affordably as possible, so here are a few things we recommend taking into consideration when shopping online to find the best products first:

The experts at Top Consumer Reviews have researched the best over-the-counter ringworm products you can purchase online. We hope you are able to find something that works well for you and provides a deep sense of soothing relief quickly!

Ringworm Product FAQ

What is ringworm?
Despite the name, ringworm is a fungal infection - not any kind of actual worm infestation! (Thank goodness!) There are more than 40 different types of fungus that cause ringworm, but the types of ringworm are usually named by the affected body part and not the specific fungus. For example, athlete's foot is ringworm of the feet, while "jock itch" is ringworm of the groin. (Lovely, right?)
What are some of the symptoms of ringworm?
The most common symptom is a red, roughly circular rash with lots of itching. The rash area can be small or widespread, and it may cause the skin to feel scaly or even crack.
Is ringworm contagious?
Yes, very much so. It can be transferred through direct skin-to-skin contact, or indirectly via locker room floors, contaminated brushes and combs, or shower stalls. There's also a form of ringworm that can be transmitted from the family pet to people.
How is ringworm handled?
Usually with a medicated lotion that contains clotrimazole or another anti-fungal ingredient. There are also some powders that can help eliminate a ringworm infection. Some ringworm products use an all-natural blend of ingredients to soothe itchy skin and get rid of the fungus. However, if you have a ringworm infection on your scalp, you may need an oral antifungal product prescribed by your doctor.
Are ringworm products expensive?
Not necessarily, but remember that you'll need to buy enough to completely eliminate the fungal infection. You can get a large tube for anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the product you select.
Are ringworm products safe?
Most ringworm options have been around for a long time and have been safely used by many people to get rid of fungal infections. But, if you're dealing with a young child or an elderly person, or someone with known sensitivities/allergies, it's always a smart idea to read the manufacturer's recommendations before trying a ringworm product. The more natural the ingredients, the less likely it is to cause an adverse reaction.
If the ringworm product I try doesn't work, can I get a refund?
Usually. Some products have a short 30-day return period, while other manufacturers offer a generous 180-day window to see how it works for you. Every body responds differently to antifungal products, so we recommend starting with a product that has lots of satisfied customers and a generous refund policy.
How long does it take to get rid of ringworm?
That depends on the location and the severity of the infection. Athlete's foot and "jock itch" usually go away within 2-4 weeks when handled regularly with an antifungal product. On the other hand, ringworm of the scalp can take 1-3 months to go away completely: topical remedies usually prove ineffective and require an oral prescription-based medication.
