Blink Review 2 Star Rating

Blink

2 Star Rating
  • Up to 40% savings on local market rates
  • Covers 99.4% of zip codes
  • Mobile-based
  • No membership required

Blink is named after the idea that "Anything can happen in the blink of an eye" and you need to be prepared. Blink is a mobile-based, on-demand Roadside Assistance service provider with one of the nation's largest networks covering 99.4% of zip codes. Their platform serves over 75 million drivers and they handle over 10 million events each year.

Over-simplified website

Blink's website is very simple, which is a breath of fresh air after seeing so many complicated websites from their competitors. However, we quickly realized that this website is too simple. We had a million and one questions about their services that could not be answered because there weren't enough details and no way to contact the company.

Vague pricing and services information

From what we see, their services include towing, jump-starts, tire changes, lockout services, winching and fuel delivery. Blink boasts that they don't have any hidden fees or membership requirements. The cost for Roadside Assistance is $65 and a tow is $99 and $5 after 5 miles. We aren't sure what the $65 covers or if there are any other benefits of using Blink.

No company policies listed

In addition to not providing enough information about the cost of services and what is included, there is no refund policy. Since Blink says they don't require memberships, there might not be anything to get refunded for unless you change your mind about the mysterious $65 Roadside Assistance cost. Since there is no way to reach customer service, there really is no way to clarify these important details.

Mobile app unavailable

When we tried to find the Blink app through the Apple Store and Google Play, it said it wasn't available at this time. We aren't sure if it is relaunching or if they are having a glitch. We would think their mobile app would be up and running since Blink tries to make it clear that they are not a newcomer or recent start-up, but "an established leader."

No customer feedback

If Blink was an established company, they would have company reviews or a rating from the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, they don't have either. The only way to try and get help from this company is to use their website, go to the example of the mobile application, and manually enter your zip code, select the issue you're facing, and view a price and estimated ETA. You provide your vehicle information and everything else the company needs to know to come to your rescue. You'll either be contacted by email or text if someone is available, but first you'll have to provide your credit card information.

Trust a higher-rated company

Since there is so little information available about this company, we don't feel comfortable recommending that you hand over your payment information to Blink in hopes that they show up. Because there are other more reputable companies available, it's best that you contact one of them for help instead.

Roadside Assistance Company FAQ

The most commonly-used benefits of roadside assistance plans are 24-hour towing, flat tire repair, jump starting, lockout service, and emergency fuel delivery. Your plan may also include trip interruption assistance, emergency medical referrals if you need treatment while traveling, travel planning help and discounts on related services.
Not at all. Most plans range from $60 - $200 per year, depending on the level of coverage you select and the number of household members included on the contract.
This varies widely from provider to provider - and even from one plan to another from the same company. It's important that you read the terms and conditions very carefully, so that you're not left with a nasty surprise of extra charges or no coverage when you need it most. One common limitation is on towing: many plans have a mileage limit on a covered tow, and customers are responsible for paying any fees beyond that distance. You may also get a certain number of service calls per year, with little to no coverage once you've reached that limit.
Yes, sometimes: and if you already have coverage, you might not need to pay for a roadside assistance plan. But, you'll want to read your policy very carefully so that you'll know what's covered - and what isn't. For example, your roadside assistance with a new car might expire once you hit two years or 25,000 miles.
Most plans cover you throughout the US, as well as Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the USVI. But, if you're planning on trips outside of the United States, be sure your roadside assistance plan extends to your destination, and know how to contact your provider for help.
Yes! Some roadside assistance plans specialize in helping people with non-traditional vehicles like motorcycles and RVs (and even bicycles!).
Sometimes. Because most plans are charged monthly, most providers let you cancel with no penalty. You might not get your money back for any previous months of service, especially if you received any benefits during that time.
You'll need to consider which companies offer the coverage you want, compare prices, and check out customer reviews: the "best deal" might not be so great if the service falls short and you're waiting hours for help. It's a good idea to look up the provider's reputation with the Better Business Bureau as well.

Continued from above...

You can customize your plans with additional add-ons like trip interruption coverage or even financial assistance with legal defense help if you get a speeding ticket. The cost for Roadside Assistance will depend on the plan you choose. Most plans allow for you to use your coverage regardless of who owns the car you're driving and you can easily get protection for the whole family.

When shopping for a Roadside Assistance provider, here are a few important things to consider:

  • Coverage details. There are major differences between most Roadside Assistance plans. Carefully read the details and cost of each option to decide which one will be most comprehensive and save you the most time and trouble!
  • Length of coverage. Do you want your plan to cover more than one vehicle? Do you want Roadside Assistance to be available well beyond your car's warranty expiration? Pay close attention to how long your Roadside Assistance is good for.
  • Provider's reputation. What do customers have to say about their experience with the provider so far? How long have they been in business? How prompt are they at getting to you once you make a call for assistance? Do they have a satisfaction guarantee?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best Roadside Assistance providers. We hope this information helps you choose the right company to take care of you and your family!
