Paragon Motor Club Review 2.5 Star Rating

Paragon Motor Club

2.5 Star Rating
  • "A+" Better Business Bureau rating
  • Cancel anytime
  • Benefits apply to members in any vehicle they drive
  • Immediate access to membership benefits

Paragon Motor Club operates throughout the United States and Canada. They are available 24/7 to send out one of their partners to tow your vehicle, fix a flat tire, help you unlock your car, or charge your battery. Unfortunately, Paragon doesn't offer much in-depth information about their background. They do say they've been helping customers for over 25 years, but we wish we knew more of their backstory or about the leadership of their company.

Website needs help

Paragon Motor Club has a long way to go to make themselves more appealing. Their website needs a makeover and the small text on each page makes it hard to easily find information you're looking for. There is a lot of repeat details and unnecessary information that makes Paragon Motor Club's website unfriendly for users. Initially we felt untrusting of this company just based on their aesthetic.

Classic and Advantage plans

The plan you choose through Paragon Motor Club depends on if you're looking for coverage for your car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, or RV/trailer. From there you can choose between a "classic" or "advantage" plan. The car, truck, SUV, and motorcycle classic plans all include 24 hour towing up to 15 miles per occurrence (100 miles for the advantage plan), $100 per occurrence for extricating and winching, flat tire assistance, vehicle fuel delivery, lockout service, battery service, and $50 toward minor mechanical adjustments ($100 with the advantage plan). The advantage plan also includes $1,000 per occurrence for trip interruption, and $1,000 for stolen vehicle interruption. You'll also get customized trip routing, travel discounts, and hotel and rental car savings.

Not available to Californians

To find the prices of the plans, you'll provide the state that you live in and Paragon Motor Club will show the costs for the different plan options. You can choose to pay monthly or annually. We noticed that none of the plans are available to those living in California. Classic Roadside Assistance for automobiles and motorcycles is $84.95/year and $99.95/year for the Advantage plan. The classic RVs, trucks, and trailers plan is $119.95/year and the Advantage plan is $149.95. Membership covers the primary member and one free associate member. Anyone else under the age of 21 can be added for a small (unlisted) fee.

Cancel anytime

Anytime you decide to cancel your membership with Paragon Motor Club, you can get a prorated refund for each full calendar month remaining in your membership period.

Vague and unimpressive

Benefits toward hotels, rental cars, entertainment, and travel are mentioned multiple times on Paragon's website in reference to membership perks. However, the actual discounts are not listed and it's unclear if they are very good or not. We are also disappointed by the lack of information about themselves that Paragon offers on their website. Although they have an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, they don't have many customer reviews to back it up. In general, we don't see any reason to recommend choosing Paragon over our higher-rated Roadside Assistance providers.

Who Provides the Best Roadside Assistance?

Whether you're just running errands around town or you're cruising along on your family road trip, having your car break down is an extremely frustrating event. It completely throws off your day and sometimes even leaves you in danger. Having a reliable Roadside Assistance plan takes a load off by having someone quickly come to your rescue and help you figure out the next steps to get your car back up and running.

Sometimes we don't think about unfortunate circumstances like a car breaking down until they happen and we are left without options. It's important to plan ahead and evaluate which of the many Roadside Assistance plans fit your circumstances so that you don't have to worry about unforeseen car troubles that will inevitably happen. Plans might include towing, jump-starts, fuel delivery, theft protection, lockouts, tire changes, and more.

Roadside Assistance Company FAQ

The most commonly-used benefits of roadside assistance plans are 24-hour towing, flat tire repair, jump starting, lockout service, and emergency fuel delivery. Your plan may also include trip interruption assistance, emergency medical referrals if you need treatment while traveling, travel planning help and discounts on related services.
Not at all. Most plans range from $60 - $200 per year, depending on the level of coverage you select and the number of household members included on the contract.
This varies widely from provider to provider - and even from one plan to another from the same company. It's important that you read the terms and conditions very carefully, so that you're not left with a nasty surprise of extra charges or no coverage when you need it most. One common limitation is on towing: many plans have a mileage limit on a covered tow, and customers are responsible for paying any fees beyond that distance. You may also get a certain number of service calls per year, with little to no coverage once you've reached that limit.
Yes, sometimes: and if you already have coverage, you might not need to pay for a roadside assistance plan. But, you'll want to read your policy very carefully so that you'll know what's covered - and what isn't. For example, your roadside assistance with a new car might expire once you hit two years or 25,000 miles.
Most plans cover you throughout the US, as well as Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the USVI. But, if you're planning on trips outside of the United States, be sure your roadside assistance plan extends to your destination, and know how to contact your provider for help.
Yes! Some roadside assistance plans specialize in helping people with non-traditional vehicles like motorcycles and RVs (and even bicycles!).
Sometimes. Because most plans are charged monthly, most providers let you cancel with no penalty. You might not get your money back for any previous months of service, especially if you received any benefits during that time.
You'll need to consider which companies offer the coverage you want, compare prices, and check out customer reviews: the "best deal" might not be so great if the service falls short and you're waiting hours for help. It's a good idea to look up the provider's reputation with the Better Business Bureau as well.

Continued from above...

You can customize your plans with additional add-ons like trip interruption coverage or even financial assistance with legal defense help if you get a speeding ticket. The cost for Roadside Assistance will depend on the plan you choose. Most plans allow for you to use your coverage regardless of who owns the car you're driving and you can easily get protection for the whole family.

When shopping for a Roadside Assistance provider, here are a few important things to consider:

  • Coverage details. There are major differences between most Roadside Assistance plans. Carefully read the details and cost of each option to decide which one will be most comprehensive and save you the most time and trouble!
  • Length of coverage. Do you want your plan to cover more than one vehicle? Do you want Roadside Assistance to be available well beyond your car's warranty expiration? Pay close attention to how long your Roadside Assistance is good for.
  • Provider's reputation. What do customers have to say about their experience with the provider so far? How long have they been in business? How prompt are they at getting to you once you make a call for assistance? Do they have a satisfaction guarantee?
