On the Paragon Motor Club website

Despite a claim of over 25 years of customer service, Paragon Motor Club lacks detailed information about its history and leadership. This leaves you in the dark about the company's background and many important details about the service. The site's small text, redundant details, and unnecessary information make it difficult for users to navigate and locate the required information. The aesthetic of the website will probably be a turn-off for potential customers.

Coverage in US and Canada

Paragon Motor Club extends its services across the United States and Canada. The company claims to provide 24/7 assistance for towing, flat tire assistance, car unlocking, and battery charging through its network of partners. However, we would like to see some more clarity about whether there are any limitations within the US and Canada (like Hawaii).

Plans tailored to your vehicle type

Paragon Motor Club offers plans based on the type of vehicle - car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, or RV/trailer - with options of "classic" or "advantage" plans. To see pricing at all, you'll need to put in the state where you reside. For the purpose of our review, we checked out the prices for roadside assistance in the state of Florida.

Best Roadside Assistance Companies

Basic package: Classic

Classic plans for cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles include 24-hour towing up to 15 miles per occurrence, $100 per occurrence for extricating and winching, flat tire assistance, vehicle fuel delivery, lockout service, battery service, and $50 toward minor mechanical adjustments. Prices for Classic roadside assistance in Florida range from $84.95/year for automobiles and motorcycles to $119.95/year for RVs, trucks, and trailers.

Full Coverage package: Advantage

The Advantage plan adds $1,000 per occurrence for trip interruption and $1,000 for stolen vehicle interruption. Some other perks include customized trip routing, travel discounts, and savings on hotels and rental cars. The Advantage plans are priced at $99.95/year and $149.95/year, for cars/motorcycles and RVs/trucks/trailers. Membership covers the primary member and one free associate member, with an unspecified fee for additional members under 21.

Unclear discount opportunities

While Paragon's website mentions benefits like hotel, rental car, entertainment, and travel discounts, the specific details and extent of these discounts remain unclear. Due to the small text and difficulty finding information on the Paragon Motor Club website, we couldn't dig up any more specific details. This lack of transparency (and old-fashioned design) may be particularly hurting Paragon Motor Club when compared to competitors.

Best Roadside Assistance Companies

Industry-standard refunds

Paragon Motor Club allows members to cancel anytime and receive a prorated refund for each full calendar month remaining in their membership period. This is a standard refund policy for the industry. However, there weren't further details regarding whether you use the services or not. At most companies, if you use roadside assistance, you won't be eligible for a refund at all (even a prorated one). The lack of clarity here is unsurprising as it is in line with the rest of the Paragon Motor Club website, but it's still frustrating.

Reputation has fallen recently

Unsurprisingly, Paragon Motor Club's reputation has fallen recently. While the company used to hold an "A+" rating from the Better Business Bureau, that isn't the case anymore. As of the date of this review, Paragon Motor Club only held a "B-" rating and a 1-star rating average out of 5 from the BBB. On top of that, there is a general lack of customer reviews and detailed information about the company online. We found 8 total reviews on Trustpilot and more than half of those were 1 star.

Bottom of the pack

Overall, Paragon Motor Club falls short in comparison to higher-rated Roadside Assistance providers. The site is hard to read and difficult to sift through. Even if they had better prices than competitors (which they don't), it would take a lot more effort to find what you need at Paragon Motor Club than with its modern competitors. With a falling reputation and low customer ratings, we just can't recommend Paragon Motor Club over any competitors.

Who Provides the Best Roadside Assistance?

Whether you're just cruising around town running errands, or embarking on an exciting family road trip, the last thing you want is for your car to unexpectedly break down. It's not only a major inconvenience but can also pose challenges to your safety, or totally throw off your perfectly planned timeline. This is where a dependable Roadside Assistance plan comes to the rescue.

These services promise swift support and expert guidance to help you navigate the unexpected twists and turns of a car breakdown. Whether you're worried about a blown tire, accidentally run out of fuel, or just need an emergency tow, being a member of a roadside assistance company can help soothe any worries and keep a roadside emergency from being a costly setback.

Often, we don't give much thought to unfortunate events like a sudden car breakdown until they catch us off guard, leaving us with limited options: expensive tow trucks or worse, waving down a stranger to jump your car in the Walmart parking lot. That's why proactive planning by joining a Roadside Assistance plan can be crucial to your peace of mind and your wallet.

Roadside Assistance plans go well behind the basics of mechanical concerns. You'll find assistance with an array of services such as towing, jump-starts, fuel delivery, theft protection, lockouts, tire changes, and more.

As an added layer of convenience, many Roadside Assistance programs allow you to customize your plan with additional add-ons. For instance, you can opt for trip interruption coverage or even financial assistance to cover legal defense in case of a speeding ticket. The flexibility in choosing the plan that suits your lifestyle comes with varying costs so that you have options that align with your budget. Plus, for those of us with a large family with multiple drivers and vehicles to worry about, many plans allow you to extend coverage to any car you drive, regardless of ownership, making it a family-friendly choice.

Beyond the basic services, many Roadside Assistance programs offer a range of fun perks unrelated to car trouble like discounted hotel stays, discounts on regular car maintenance, and discounts at major retailers or even pharmacies. So, on top of being covered in a roadside emergency, you can count on extra benefits to make your travels even better.

But with so many different companies on the market offering Roadside Assistance plans, it can be hard to know where to start. So, as you explore the packages offered by various providers, keep these key considerations in mind:

To make your next road trip a breeze, Top Consumer Reviews researched and analyzed the top Roadside Assistance plans available today: we bring you the lowdown on which ones stand up to really assist you when your car goes haywire. Because, let's face it, when you're stranded with a flat tire or a bad battery, you want help and you want it fast. We hope our analysis helps you make the best decision so you can rest easy whether you're hopping to the store or driving cross-country. Happy motoring!

Roadside Assistance Company FAQ

What do roadside assistance plans offer?
The most commonly-used benefits of roadside assistance plans are 24-hour towing, flat tire repair, jump starting, lockout service, and emergency fuel delivery. Your plan may also include trip interruption assistance, emergency medical referrals if you need treatment while traveling, travel planning help and discounts on related services.
Is it expensive to subscribe to a roadside assistance membership?
Not at all. Most plans range from $60 - $200 per year, depending on the level of coverage you select and the number of household members included on the contract.
Is there anything that's excluded from my coverage?
This varies widely from provider to provider - and even from one plan to another from the same company. It's important that you read the terms and conditions very carefully, so that you're not left with a nasty surprise of extra charges or no coverage when you need it most. One common limitation is on towing: many plans have a mileage limit on a covered tow, and customers are responsible for paying any fees beyond that distance. You may also get a certain number of service calls per year, with little to no coverage once you've reached that limit.
Isn't roadside assistance included in my auto insurance or my new car purchase?
Yes, sometimes: and if you already have coverage, you might not need to pay for a roadside assistance plan. But, you'll want to read your policy very carefully so that you'll know what's covered - and what isn't. For example, your roadside assistance with a new car might expire once you hit two years or 25,000 miles.
Will I be covered in all 50 states? What if I'm driving in Mexico or Canada?
Most plans cover you throughout the US, as well as Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the USVI. But, if you're planning on trips outside of the United States, be sure your roadside assistance plan extends to your destination, and know how to contact your provider for help.
I drive a motorcycle (or an RV). Are there roadside assistance plans for me?
Yes! Some roadside assistance plans specialize in helping people with non-traditional vehicles like motorcycles and RVs (and even bicycles!).
What if I try the service and don't like it? Can I get a refund?
Sometimes. Because most plans are charged monthly, most providers let you cancel with no penalty. You might not get your money back for any previous months of service, especially if you received any benefits during that time.
How can I decide which provider to use?
You'll need to consider which companies offer the coverage you want, compare prices, and check out customer reviews: the "best deal" might not be so great if the service falls short and you're waiting hours for help. It's a good idea to look up the provider's reputation with the Better Business Bureau as well.
