Rug & Rugs Review 2 Star Rating

Rug & Rugs

2 Star Rating
  • Rugs starting at $150
  • Afghan, Persian, Oriental, flat weave, and tribal baloch rugs
  • 194 rugs
  • Free delivery throughout the US
  • 30-day return policy

Rug & Rugs doesn't give a lot of background information about themselves. When the company began, how the idea for their processes originated, or where they're headed is a mystery to us. Based on the website, all this company wants you to know is that they create comfortable spaces with Afghan, Turkish, and Persian floor "clothing”. The company appears to be based out of Wyoming and serves customers all throughout the US.

Website errors

Rug & Rugs has an appealing website, but when we looked closely, we found a lot of grammatical errors which sometimes signals that a company is actually being run out of a foreign country. Although nothing is inherently wrong with that, it sometimes translates into delivery issues and problems with customer service. This is just one thing to keep in mind as you're shopping here.

Small variety

Customers can choose between Afghan, Persian, flat weave, tribal baloch and oriental rugs. However, in total there are only 194 rugs here (and some are out-of-stock). You might find something you're crazy about, but odds are they won't have something for all tastes and styles with this small of a selection. Besides choosing the style of rug and color you want, there's really no other way to slim down the options.

Best Rug Stores

Single sizes

On the lowest end, you'll find rugs starting at $150 from Rug & Rugs, and you could spend as much as $3,490. The price depends entirely on the type of rug and nothing else, since Rug & Rugs only sells one size of each style. If you just want a small rug, you won't find that here: most sizes are around 8' x 10' without any variation. We wish you could find a design you loved and then pick the size to best suit your space, but that's not how Rug & Rugs works.

Basic details

When you select a rug online, you'll be shown a single picture of it, the name of the rug, price, size it comes in, how many people are currently viewing the selection, and an estimated delivery date. All orders from Rug & Rugs ship free. This is great news, but in this new world of 2-day shipping, the fact that it takes 7-10 days for delivery might seem slow to some. Overall, there isn't much to the product listings from Rug & Rugs, so you'll need to be fine with bare bones details and buying what could be a $1,000+ rug based off of little information.

30-day returns and 30-day refunds

If you need to make a return, you should send it back to Rug & Rugs' North Carolina warehouse within 30 days of receiving the item. Everything needs to be in the same condition as delivered and in the original packaging. Refunds are processed within 30 days of receiving the items and you'll be notified by e-mail about the status of your return.

Scant customer feedback

Customers can leave reviews on the rugs they buy from Rug & Rugs, but we didn't see any. This could indicate that they aren't getting a lot of business, some of their listings are brand new, or people are leaving negative feedback and the company is deleting them. Either way, it's hard to feel great about a company that doesn't have many reviews on their website or third-party sites. The Better Business Bureau doesn't have a profile or rating for Rug & Rugs either.

Nothing new

Aside from what seems like having a hard time coming up with a clever and unique company name (kidding!), Rug & Rugs didn't inspire us or get us excited about shopping. Their patterns are nothing we didn't feel like we'd seen a million times or could find elsewhere. It's a pain that rugs only come in one size and you can't filter down the selection by this factor. We wouldn't take a gamble on this place without reading from a lot of people who have made purchases here and felt satisfied with them. Because of this, Rug & Rugs has not been rated very highly by us.

Where is the Best Place to Purchase a Rug Online?

When you're putting finishing touches on a room you're decorating, adding a rug can be a major statement piece. It can tie all the colors and accents in a room together while cozying up your space. Whether you want a bold, noticeable rug or just one for practicality to protect some of your flooring, you could spend hours looking through all the options out there. Rugs come in all sizes, materials, and levels of cushion.

The perfect rug is out there, you just have to know where to find it. But there's no need to spend hours or even days driving around to all the stores in the area looking at the rugs they have to offer. These days, most stores only carry a handful or so of rug styles and sizes, so the only way to get a wide variety of designs and sizes that can adapt to your space is to shop online.

Rug Store FAQ

Great question! Start by measuring the area you'd like to cover. Next, determine what patterns or colors you're looking for: are you making a bold statement or trying to quietly complement the rest of your decor? Finally, decide on your budget! From there, you can use the filtering options on most rug websites to narrow down the possibilities and find your perfect match.
Buying your rug online puts the world's best selection at your fingertips. Inventory at local stores can be extremely limited, so use the internet to get exactly what you want - probably at the best price! You can also get plenty of helpful information to guide your decision-making, like the differences between handmade and machine-made rugs or Oriental and Persian rugs, how to clean a rug, and so on.
You might be nervous about buying your next rug online, sight unseen. Don't be! You'll find ample descriptions on most retailers' websites to help you picture exactly what you're getting. But, if your rug is delivered and it's just not what you were expecting, most stores have a return policy of at least 30 days. Just be aware that you may have to pay a restocking fee and/or return shipping costs, depending on the retailer.
How does "$0” sound? The vast majority of online rug stores offer free shipping within the lower 48 United States (and a small number extend that to Alaska and Hawaii as well!).
Whatever you do, don't pull on the thread/fiber! Clip it at the source instead.
The longevity of any rug depends on several factors: how well it's made and what it's made of, how much traffic the area gets (e.g. pets, people, furniture), and where it's placed. The highest-quality rugs can last long enough to become a family heirloom, with the proper care.
It's not strictly necessary, but it's a good idea. Using a rug pad will protect the flooring underneath, add extra cushioning, and also offer better traction so that your rug doesn't slip around on the floor.
Regular upkeep includes vacuuming once a week to remove any dirt and dust, assuming you have the type of rug that can be vacuumed at all! Smaller rugs can be taken outside and shaken. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations for your rug, which may include a professional cleaning every few years.

Continued from above...

You'll find tens of thousands of choices on the internet, so it's important to find a website that helps you narrow down what could be an overwhelming selection. You'll be able to input the colors, patterns, size, material, and shape that you've got in mind and have exactly what you're looking for right at your fingertips.

It can be hard to choose between so many beautiful rugs, so some companies let you upload a photo of the room you're decorating and visualize it before making a purchase. Some high-end rug stores also have specialists you can chat with who can help you make the right selection. Not all of us feel confident in our interior design skills, so it's a big help to get second opinions.

Even after thoughtful deliberation, you may still purchase a rug you're not in love with. Once you lay it out in your room, you usually have at least 30 days to return it for either a full refund or an exchange. Be sure to read the fine print about each rug company and see if they offer free returns or if you'll have to fork out the money to send a potentially heavy and large rug back. That could be expensive!

Rugs are one of the most exciting things to shop for when you're sprucing up a space. You can even change them out to decorate for different holidays and seasonal decor. So if you can't decide on just one rug you want, you have our permission to splurge and buy a few. When you're browsing selections online, keep the following things in mind:

  • Selection. Does the company give you plenty of design variations, sizes, and color options? To find the perfect rug, you need as many options to choose from as possible. Find a retailer that has a huge inventory but also makes it easy to sort through it all.
  • Return policy. How long do you have to decide whether or not you are satisfied with the rug? Does the company offer free returns? Ideally you'll want to avoid restocking fees, so watch out for these as well.
  • Customer satisfaction. What have customers said about the company? Do they have reviews on each individual rug with photos from other buyers? Pay attention to the Better Business Bureau rating for the company and reviews from people on third-party sites.

You're about to dive into a huge world of rugs you never even knew existed. Top Consumer Reviews has researched everything you need to know about the best rug companies you can buy from online. We hope this information helps you find beautiful rugs that make a great addition to your space.
