The founder of Tienda Salsita, Catalina, traveled to Mexico in 2017 to study Spanish, explore, and live with a close family friend. It was there that Catalina learned to make salsa as she fell in love with the food, the country, and the people in Mexico. When she returned to the United States, she started making her stone-ground salsas at home and selling them to friends and family. Today Tienda Salsita includes a variety of flavor profiles and heat levels locally grown from small farms in Sonoma County, California using sustainable agricultural practices.

Olive oil-based
The salsas you get from Tienda Salsita are made with an olive oil base and include other ingredients like chiles, tamarind, garlic, vinegar, Mexican oregano, and more. The salsas will last 12 months after opening and can be refrigerated for the longest possible freshness. However, Catalina herself says she keeps her salsas on the counter since she uses them frequently and the olive oil will coagulate when cold. So it's up to you.

Salsas can be purchased individually ranging from $7 for a 4 oz jar to $45 for a 32 oz jar. Prices vary based on flavor and ingredients. You could also buy 3-packs of the 9 oz jars for $45 that come in simple, yet high-end style packaging.
