Scabisil is a soothing relief for insect bites, acne, mites, fungus, dermatitis, and other skin irritants. It can be used on humans, horses, dogs, and other pets. Scabisil is the second product in our review that is manufactured by Braunfels Labs. Unfortunately, this company is not rated by the Better Business Bureau and is having issues with inventory. One of the main reasons we aren't on board with Scabisil is because it is a hard product to get a hold of.
Like most other scabies products, Scabisil is made up of 10% sulfur. That's because this ingredient helps dry out skin and absorb excess oils that are clogging pores (hence its effectiveness in treating acne). There are few other ingredients in the formula which include propane 1, 2, and 3, sodium stearate, sulfur, and olibinum.
No pricing or return policy
Because of the issues that Braunfels Labs is having with stocking their inventory, there was no price listed for Scabisil. On top of this, it was unclear whether or not there is a return policy for the product. No satisfaction guarantee is mentioned, so we at least know that it's unlikely anyone could get their money back after trying Scabisil and finding that it doesn't work for them.
The directions for using Scabisil are frustratingly vague. Customers are first instructed to consult with a medical professional before application. Aside from this, they should "apply on affected areas." How many times per day should it be applied? How many days is it necessary to continue application? We wish we knew.
Treats symptoms, doesn't cure
Most customers who used Scabisil said it worked to dry out their skin and relieve the irritation caused by scabies, but it was not a cure. There haven't been any customer reviews for Scabisil in the last three years, so this is another concern to us. It's not meant to be used on children (no specific ages are listed), and this might be a turn off for many customers since scabies is a condition that affects many children as well as adults.
Not worth it
Even if you're interested in trying Scabisil, you might be out of luck trying to order it. However, there are a lot of better options for treating scabies, so Scabisil is not your best bet. Since it can't be used on children and doesn't seem to get to the root of the problem, you're better off buying something else.
The idea of scabies gives most people the jitters. It is an itchy skin condition caused by tiny burrowing mites. If you're wondering how these little critters come to exist in the first place, here is a brief synopsis: the eight legged mites are microscopic. A female will burrow just beneath the skin and make a tunnel to deposit eggs. Once they hatch, the larvae make their way to the surface of the skin where they mature and cause an allergic reaction in the body.
Scabies are a common condition, with over 200,000 new cases reported each year (and likely many more unreported). People often recognize scabies by the itchy tracks made up of blisters or bumps on the skin between fingers, under armpits, around the waist, on the inner elbows, along the insides of wrists, on the soles of the feet, and other areas of the body. Scabies are extremely contagious and can be spread even if you don't have any symptoms, since it takes up to 6 weeks for them to appear. They can be spread by interactions as casual as a handshake or hug.
Scabies are much more obnoxious than they are threatening. A bacterial infection could occur with vigorous scratching if it breaks the skin. Otherwise, you'll need to follow a regimen to kill off the scabies before the condition worsens and the scabies multiply or spread. There are great products sold online that you can try without having to visit a doctor and pay for an expensive prescription. Many of these treatments are made with natural ingredients to safely heal you of your scabies without side effects.
