If you're like the rest of us, you've probably wished there was some magic pill or silver bullet for weight loss. "Can't I just take something and have the pounds just fall off?” For a lot of people, Semaglutide feels like it could be that unicorn. How familiar are you with this GLP-1 medication? Is it right for you?
Let's look at the background of Semaglutide for a minute. Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as GLP-1 receptor agonists. These drugs mimic the action of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a hormone that regulates blood sugar levels and appetite. Approved by the FDA for type 2 diabetes treatment, its use has expanded to include weight loss due to its appetite-suppressing effects.

"Weight care” can be a sensitive subject, but Found goes to great lengths to meet you where you are and develop the best possible plan for your biology and your goals. You'll have to commit to working with your Found team for at least 6 months, and Semaglutide may or may not be part of what your physician determines is the right choice. But, the vast majority of Found's members are thrilled with their experience here, from the 1:1 coaching to the science-based, holistic approach. Even the BBB gives Found an "A+”. We really love the way Found partners with its members and respects their unique circumstances and goals, whether or not Semaglutide is part of the journey. Found is our top pick among Semaglutide providers and earns our enthusiastic recommendation.
Sesame lets you hand-pick and schedule a virtual or in-person appointment with a highly-rated, supportive practitioner to guide you on your weight loss journey - a journey that may or may not include Semaglutide, depending on what you determine together to be appropriate (medically and financially). You'll pay less than $200 for three months of evaluation and support; if a GLP-1 medication is prescribed, your Sesame provider will help navigate your insurance to get it covered. Sesame itself gets an "A+” from the BBB, and there are doctors you can choose from with thousands of 5-star reviews. Although this service is missing the compounded Semaglutide option, it's still one of our preferred resources in the industry.
If you live in one of the 40+ states where Ro is available, you should take a look at what this company has to offer as a provider of Semaglutide-supported weight loss. You have access to both name-brand and compounded Semaglutide here (assuming it's determined to be a safe part of your strategy), and you can get video support from a physician anytime you want it. The price of Ro's services isn't cheap, but they're straightforward about what it costs. And, lots of people have given Ro a top score for being a trustworthy partner on the weight loss journey.
PlushCare works as a strictly virtual way to access all kinds of healthcare, including weight loss with or without Semaglutide. You can opt to use your insurance here, but all services are available as cash pay too. You'll choose a provider, pay for your first visit, and see if GLP-1 medications are the right choice, either brand-name or compounded. PlushCare isn't quite as well-rounded as the other pick-your-doctor service on our list, but it's good enough to earn a respectable rating as a Semaglutide provider.
Noom has been around for a while: you've probably gotten ads to try the app to help you understand the "why” behind your eating, nutrition, and sleep habits. Recently, though, the company added a new component: Semaglutide and other weight loss medications. Noom Med combines the two as an all-around approach to resetting your body and mind. There's no compounded version here, so expect to pay a lot for the Semaglutide if your insurance says no. And, some people have been frustrated with getting out of the subscription or reaching help at Noom's customer service department. But, it's a pretty comprehensive way to approach weight loss.
You may have used Everlywell already for at-home lab testing, but you might not know they also provide access to Semaglutide and other prescriptions through their Weight Care+ program. They go to great lengths to make sure you're a good candidate before prescribing anything, including a review of initial blood tests. You'll work 1:1 with a clinician, who may or may not prescribe brand-name GLP-1 products or offer compounded Semaglutide, but there's a 3-month minimum commitment when you sign up for Weight Care+. We're not really sure that Everlywell is as "all in” as some of the other Semaglutide providers on our list, but we give their service an average rating for getting off to a good start.
IVY RX is fairly new to the Semaglutide industry: the company has a strong focus on anti-aging, and has recently added this weight-loss prescription to its repertoire. You can get both injectable and oral Semaglutide here, and you'll pay just under $300/month for either format. We had some concerns about the process, however; there were almost no medical questions asked during the screener, and you'll be asked for your credit card info before you provide those critical details about your history and any possible contraindications for starting Semaglutide. We hope to see good things from IVY RX in the future, but for now the company ranks as below-average when compared with the more established options on our list.
Strut recognizes that certain medical conditions can be difficult to talk about with your doctor, and they want to minimize any stigma you might feel around using Semaglutide (presumably for weight loss). With this provider, you can choose between lozenges or injections, and a US-based physician will review your medical history and ultimately approve the delivery mechanism and the dosage before shipping the prescription to you. You'll get free follow-up care for as long as you're using Semaglutide at Strut. However, this is one of our least-favorite providers: the website is glitchy and the company's reputation doesn't really inspire confidence.
Henry is brand-new in the world of Semaglutide providers, and at first glance they're an amazing choice. You can opt for injectable or oral compounded Semaglutide, you get a video consultation with a provider, and everything is included in one monthly price ($249 to $297, depending on the medication format). There's even a 30-day, no-questions-asked satisfaction guarantee - you won't see that anywhere else. Unfortunately, while Henry starts out strong, they don't seem to be doing a great job after the initial visit. The company has an "F” rating from the BBB and lots of complaints from people who weren't able to get a refund or who had issues past the 30-day mark. All of that leads to Henry's ranking towards the bottom of our list.
Calibrate would love to help you reset your metabolism - with or without Semaglutide. When you sign up for a membership here, you'll get access to an entire team, including doctors and 1:1 coaches, who will walk you through weight loss through better nutrition, sleep, exercise, and emotional health. If your Calibrate doctor determines that a name-brand weight loss medication is right for you, this provider will help you get it approved through your insurance company. On the surface, this sounds like a great program - but with 1,000+ complaints filed with the BBB and elsewhere, Calibrate apparently doesn't deliver for a lot of customers. And, there's no guarantee that you'll be able to get Semaglutide here.
That expansion has provoked shortages in many of the name-brand options (like Wegovy and Ozempic), so some Semaglutide providers offer compounded versions (that are similar to a generic form of the same drug).
Does it work for losing weight? In clinical trials, Semaglutide has been shown to be more effective than a placebo. However, it's still fairly new in its usage for weight loss, and long-term safety data is still being gathered and studied. Some people have reported side effects like nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal issues. Starting Semaglutide is a decision you should make carefully, under the direction of a physician.
But, what if your doctor isn't willing to prescribe Semaglutide, or you don't have a physician you trust? In today's world of telemedicine, it's not just possible but easy to work with a provider online. Most platforms will start you off with a basic medical history, which is reviewed by a board-certified physician before you're approved for a Semaglutide prescription. The best Semaglutide providers offer a comprehensive approach, often bundling one-on-one coaching, apps for tracking what you eat, and access to a community of other people in pursuit of weight loss into the services you receive.
So, let's say you're ready to find out if Semaglutide is the right next step for you. How can you tell which online provider to choose? There are quite a few of them out there, and they're all eager to onboard you as their newest client. Here's what you should look for as you compare your options:
