If you're a man who has looked into getting a little help with ED in the past, you've probably heard of Ro already. While it's true that the company's main focus is on sexual health, this "Ro-bust” telemedicine platform also tackles weight loss through Semaglutide injections - both its own compounded variety and name-brand prescriptions like Ozempic.

Compounded and name-brand Semaglutide options

Before we get too far into our evaluation of Ro as a provider of Semaglutide, we want to point out an important detail that many people miss when they sign up here: Ro takes a two-part approach to using Semaglutide for weight loss, and each component has its own cost. The first part is, of course, the prescription: Semaglutide is only available by injection here, and their compounded version costs $299/month. You can also access name-brand Semaglutide (like Ozempic and Wegovy) here, but because of the ongoing shortages and the high costs ($900 to $1,000/month for Ozempic if not covered by insurance), you'll likely get started on treatment more quickly if you opt for the compounded kind.

Meds + support =$450+ per month

The second part of Ro's approach is called the "Body Program”. Ro believes that the most successful approach to weight loss includes not just an injection but also coaching tailored to your unique profile. You'll pay $99 for the first month, and that includes the physician review of your Ro application and medical profile. After the first month, Body costs $149/month for as long as you're using Semaglutide through Ro. Do the math, and you'll see that, at a minimum, Semaglutide at Ro is going to cost about $450 per month. Only you can decide if it's worth it.

Thorough review of your medical history

If you're still interested, click on the "Get started” button. You'll be asked what your goals are for the Body Program, along with your current height/weight. From there, you'll be asked to provide your email address, in order to view how much weight Ro thinks you can lose. In our case, Ro gave an estimated weight loss of 43 pounds within a year. From there, you'll be asked the basic questions to determine your eligibility: birthdate, zip code, current health insurance, whether or not you've seen your PCP in the last 12 months, plus extensive questions about certain conditions you may or may not have (type 2 diabetes, thyroid disease, etc.). We were really glad to see that Ro goes much further in depth with these questions than many of its rivals on our list: it gave us the impression that they're truly committed to making sure that Semaglutide is going to be a safe, healthy choice before prescribing it.

Ships out within 1-3 days after approval

If your questions lead Ro to determine you're a good candidate for Semaglutide, you'll be invited to finish your "online visit” (what they call the questionnaire process). Ro will verify your phone number and your identity, have a physician review your information, and then if you're cleared and your chosen type of Semaglutide is available, it'll ship out within 1-3 days. And, at any time after signing up with Ro, you can have a video call with your assigned physician: just request a visit in your online chat and you'll get a link to schedule it.

Just as an FYI: at the time of this review, Ro was available to residents of most, but not all, 50 states. Excluded locations were Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Great reputation, just read the program details

We're pleased to report that Ro has an "A+” rating and accreditation from the Better Business Bureau, with just 101 complaints filed with the BBB in the last three years. That may sound like a lot, but that perfect grade means that the company is doing an appropriate job of responding when problems are reported to the BBB. While most of those recent complaints were about the Body Program and Semaglutide, it was clear from reading them that the patients hadn't read the information that's clearly displayed on the Ro site - especially the parts about how the medication cost is separate from the Body Program, how some medications may not be in stock, and how prices can change based on availability and insurance coverage.

Hundreds of 5-star reviews

It's also a good sign that Ro's overall reputation elsewhere is positive. Across 1,000+ reviews at Trustpilot, for example, the company earns an average of 4 stars out of 5. You'll see many of the same gripes there (from people who didn't read the clearly spelled-out details about how the program works), but also plenty of compliments from users who say that Ro made it super-easy to get started on Semaglutide and to lose weight with the help of their Body Program support team.

Overall, Ro earns our recommendation and a strong rating. Compared with many rivals' services, we found them to be easy to understand and accessible as a Semaglutide provider. Yes, it's spendy, but most of these services are. We're glad to see how many people have had a good experience with Ro, and we'd say they're worth looking into if you're exploring the possibilities of weight loss with Semaglutide.
