The Best Singing Lessons

Where Can I Find the Best Singing Lessons?

Whether it's been your lifelong dream to have a beautiful voice, or you want to impress your friends in the choir, or you think American Idol is in your future, your singing voice won't improve on it's own. Traditionally, the few people that could afford it would hire expensive voice coaches to improve their voice, pitch, and breathing. After hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars, they would usually emerge with a better singing voice.

Thankfully, other methods of learning how to sing are now available that are both flexible to your schedule and much more affordable. On the internet today you can find companies that will provide DVD's, CD's, downloaded instructions, or training videos that can be effective in teaching anyone to sing. In addition to being much less expensive than traditional voice coaches, these products let you practice and learn at any time of the day, at your own schedule and pace.

Superior Singing Method

5 Star Rating
  • Cost: $97 one-time fee
Top Consumer Reviews Best-In-Class Blue Ribbon Award

Superior Singing Method, created by recording artist Aaron Anastasi, is a genuinely risk-free way to take your vocal abilities to the next level - whether you're just starting out or an experienced singer. With a 60-day money-back guarantee, SSM allows you to try the entire program and decide if it's a good fit for the very reasonable price.

However, if you'd like to give it a try before hitting the "buy" button, you can access a free 10-minute lesson using the link in the top navigation. In order to get the best possible results, you should perform the vocal exercise in the sample lesson once a day for six days.

SSM provides instruction through video lessons accessed online, along with vocal exercise tracks that can be put on a CD or downloaded to your favorite music player and practiced while you're on the go.

Best Singing Lessons

What's included in the Superior Singing Method program? The core of the instruction consists of 8 modules:

  • Unique Vocal Warm-Up Exercises - setting the foundation to prepare for the rest of the program
  • Breath Management and Diaphragm Breathing
  • Mastering Vocal Tone
  • Improving Pitch
  • Resonance and Singing with Power
  • The Mix Voice and Singing Higher Notes
  • Improving Vocal Agility
  • Advanced Strengthening and Vocal Techniques

Across the 8 modules, students will have access to a total of more than 50 singing lesson videos, 31 dynamic vocal training exercises, and daily vocal exercise routines designed to improve the right parts of the voice in the most appropriate progression.

The package also includes four bonuses: Guide to Performing, Guide to Music Marketing, and two mini-courses, Developing Your Head Voice and Vocal Agility.

What impressed us was the number of positive reviews of the SSM program, both on the site and elsewhere. Students raved about being able to notice a difference in the quality of their voice after just a few lessons - and those changes received praise from others too. As with any program of instruction, results may vary, but it seems like the majority of the 10,000+ singers who have used Anastasi's method have been extremely pleased with their progress.

Some of this progress is credited to SSM's members' area and access to Aaron Anastasi himself via email. Any questions that students have are usually answered quickly, either by other students or by the creator of the program, ensuring that there is no confusion with any aspect of the lessons or vocal progression exercises.

If you're looking for a well-tested, successful program to improve your voice, Superior Singing Method is proven, affordable, and risk-free. For these reasons, we give this program very high marks.

Singorama Review 4 Star Rating

Singorama

4 Star Rating
  • Cost: $67 one-time fee

With a name like Singorama, you might expect a poorly-made or "cute" set of singing lessons. Not so! We were pleasantly surprised to see that the program receives high marks from singers around the world for its comprehensive, well-structured approach to singing lessons.

Although the website itself leaves room for improvement - it is difficult to find information on what, exactly, is included in the program (hint: click on the "Prefer to read?" link under the question "Can anyone learn to sing?") - the actual vocal instruction is solid and comes with a fantastic 60-day money-back satisfaction guarantee.

Created by Melanie Alexander, an experienced vocal coach who also hit Platinum and Gold levels in her own musical career in Australia, Singorama includes the following:

  • 28 audio lessons
  • Perfect Your Pitch Pro
  • Singorama Mini Recording Studio (software that allows students to record, listen, evaluate and chart their progress)
  • Ultimate Guide on How to Read Music
Best Singing Lessons

While we would like to see the site spell out exactly what the lessons cover (with a little less of the sales pitch), the customer testimonials make it easy to believe that the program is effective, and the money-back guarantee ensures that it's a risk-free decision to give the lessons a try, However, if you'd like to try a sample first, you can find a link on the main page that will allow you to download a free five-part singing course by entering your name and email address.

We like that Singorama includes instruction on reading music, as many courses ignore that fundamental aspect of being a versatile singer, not just an American Idol wannabe.

While we felt that Singorama's website could be much better organized, to make it easier for prospective students to easily see what the program includes, the high number of satisfied customers coupled with the 60-day money-back guarantee on an already low price makes Singorama a good choice for at-home singing lessons.

Sing and See Review 4 Star Rating

Sing and See

4 Star Rating
  • Cost: From $36.75 to $84.25

Sing and See is a downloaded or CD formatted software program used to teach the beginner to advanced singer how to improve their voice through technology.

Developed by William Thorpe, an engineer and scientist, who spent several years working at the National Voice Centre and the School of Communication Sciences in the University of Sydney in Australia, doing research into how people sing - the physiology of their breathing, the acoustic patterns of vocal projection, and other aspects of singing performance. The tool uses computer software and your own microphone to measure your current performance and provides new skills to improve.

Best Singing Lessons

Priced inexpensively, Sing and See is a nice tool for those looking to improve their singing ability. However, you must have Windows or Mac OS X running on an Intel machine, internet access, a microphone with sound input, and speakers or headphones to use this program.

Sing and See comes with a 30 day 100% guarantee, a customer service phone number and an email address for your questions or concerns.

Overall, we liked the concept of the product and the ability to see the improvement of our singing visually. The product is fairly priced on the downloaded version and serves as a nice add on for those with some advanced singing knowledge.

5 Point Singing System Review 3.5 Star Rating

5 Point Singing System

3.5 Star Rating
  • Cost: $97 one-time fee

Angela Kelman, lead singer for Award winning group Farmer's Daughter, is the creator of the 5 Point Singing System. Angela has used her 30 years of experience in the music industry to put together this singing lesson system. The system is reasonably priced at $97.

Included in the lesson package is a 116-page E-manual, video tutorials, and chapters on Studio Singing, Background Vocal Singing, Stage Performance Tips, Creating Emotional Moments and more. It is advertised for the beginner who just wants to sound good on karaoke night all the way to professional singer and music producer.

Best Singing Lessons

Unfortunately, the website is not organized well as we'd like to see. 5 Point Singing System provides one continuous long homepage that you have to scroll up and down to get to the information you are looking for. Also, if you have any questions, there is no number to call; the company only accepts email inquiries. However, a nice 60-day money back guarantee is offered where the customer may return the system within 60-days with no questions asked.

5 Point Singing System received a just above average rating in our review. While we like the credibility of an actual person with professional singing experience, we are a little hesitant with the amount of information provided for the actual lessons. We found that some of the higher ranked companies gave more information and provided better overall customer service.

However, not all singing lessons are the same. Before you purchase the first singing lesson package that you find, you need to consider some important aspects of singing lesson programs:

  • Quality. Who's selling the singing lessons and what will you receive? If you're expected to learn from downloaded instructions, but don't have convenient access to a computer, that's important to know.
  • Cost. How much will you have to pay for your singing lesson instructions? How does this cost compare other singing lesson providers?
  • Return policy. If you receive your downloaded instructions or DVD's in the mail and a problem exists will you get your money back?

TopConsumerReviews.com has reviewed and ranked the best singing lessons available today. We hope these reviews help you train your voice to be a beautiful musical instrument!

Singing Lesson FAQ

Absolutely! Voice lessons are not designed just for experienced singers. You can pick up at whatever level you're at and continue improving from there. All singing platforms are equipped to teach people the basics of singing, so don't be hesitant if you are just beginning!
You'll likely get more on-demand material and resources from online singing lessons than you would with in-person lessons. You'll get video lessons, vocal exercise audios, vocal exercise routines, sheet music, music reading guides, playback singing software, and more. Not all platforms provide the same resources, but whichever singing lessons you choose will have the right material to improve your vocal skills!
Online singing lessons cover a range of skills and techniques. You'll learn tone quality, breath management, language and dictation skills, volume and range of the voice, reading music, acting technique, and more. Everything you'd be taught in an in-person voice lesson can be learned online!
You'll need access to a device with the internet to view your singing lessons. Some platforms will allow you to download the videos and other material so you access them without a direct internet connection if needed. You will probably find that your phone is a convenient option for streaming lessons since you'll be able to practice anywhere in the house or even on the go!
The best part of online singing lessons is that you can go at your own pace. The more time and effort you put into practicing, the faster you'll improve. Some of the platforms come with progress tracking so you can get an idea of your strengths and weaknesses and how fast you're learning. After all, singing lessons are more about quality and the process rather than quickly finishing all your videos and practice exercises.
No! Online singing lessons are the most affordable option for improving vocal skills. In-person singing lessons are surprisingly expensive, often costing up to thousands of dollars a year. Online singing lessons usually carry a one-time fee as low as $100 or less. It's an extremely affordable and convenient way to learn to sing!
You're never too old to learn how to sing! The human voice continues to mature throughout life, so it's wise to continually practice your vocal skills. As long as you're able to stay focused and practice, you're never too young to learn to sing either! Most people start between the ages of 7 and 9 when they're able to understand new vocal concepts and practice regularly.
There are a few online singing platforms that offer free trial lessons so you know what to expect before buying the whole program. If you're able to do this, you probably won't have to worry about being unsatisfied with your voice lessons. Other companies offer money-back guarantees within 30 or 60 days if you change your mind about their program. Verify whether or not there is a satisfaction guarantee for the singing lessons you're interested in before buying them.
