Walmart stands out as a widely recognized retail leader. However, when it comes to slipcovers, the arrangement of products on the website is a bit chaotic, requiring customers to rely on the search bar to really get things done. While prices are competitive, there are over 1,000 individual products listed under the "slipcover” search and many of these are only loosely related to full furniture covers. But as a bonus, there's usually always a Walmart nearby, so if you want to get a slipcover really quick, this could be a great option for you.

Modern shopping experience

Walmart, being a prominent retailer, attracts numerous in-store and online shoppers. Their online store reflects a modern shopping experience with tons of product-specific filters and the choice between shipping items to your home or picking them up at a local store after ordering through the website. The only aspect that might be a bit less intuitive compared to other retailers is the organization of the website.

Mixed search results

While there are filters at the top of the screen to narrow down selections for slipcover types and furniture items, they are only general or text-search filters and might leave out (or add in) extra items. So, when you do price searches, items often get left out or appear in some categories but not others. Filters on the left side of the screen pertain to various items sold at Walmart as well as some specialized filters for slipcovers that include fabric care, pattern, and how the slipcovers attach, which we found impressive.

Prices are hard to compare

In order to get a good price comparison between Walmart and other retailers in our review, we checked out the overall price range of all items covered by slipcovers at Walmart. To narrow the field, we also checked out the prices specifically for loveseat slipcovers. Getting started with the full price range, there are over 1,000 different products listed at Walmart as slipcovers. These start as low as $2.59 and go as high as $78.99, which showcases some of the lowest prices overall on our list. However, these are only the prices for the items in the search for "slipcovers”. When we checked the pricing for loveseat slipcovers, the highest price suddenly changed. Under loveseats, you can find 346 different products ranging in price from $15.99 to $129.99. When we searched "slipcover” in the search bar, the most expensive item we found was a chair cover for $152.99.

Free shipping with Walmart+

While not everyone can immediately get free shipping at Walmart, it's easy to opt in. Walmart has introduced a new subscription service known as Walmart+, which offers various impressive benefits, including complimentary shipping. This subscription provides free shipping for all orders, including eligible items that qualify for free next-day and two-day shipping. With an extensive range of items that meet the criteria, this feature brings substantial convenience and value to members. If you are a regular Walmart shopper, becoming a Walmart+ member can assist you in cutting down costs on slipcovers as well as your basic grocery necessities.

90-day returns in-store and online

Another thing we love is the length of the return policy at Walmart. On the BBB website, for example, Walmart maintains an average star rating of 1 out of 5, based on more than 1,000 reviews from various customers.

Low cost may make up for customer dissatisfaction

On other third-party review sites like Trustpilot, Walmart's rating is only 1.5 stars out of 5. Across the board, customers express dissatisfaction with Walmart's customer service, citing instances of impolite staff. Online shoppers often complain about receiving damaged packages. Although a small number of customers appreciate Walmart's affordability, the majority have reported negative experiences. It's hard to say how that would affect you when buying slipcovers specifically, but let's be real: you know what you're getting (and what you're not) when you shop at Walmart for, well, anything.

Best for those who want to shop local

While Walmart may provide convenience for local shopping and it is a good place to find low-cost slipcovers, the negative feedback from customers about Walmart raises some red flags. Although Walmart boasts an "A+" BBB rating, the negative shopping experience and lack of product quality raise the usual concerns. Therefore, Walmart receives an average rating for a place to pick up slipcovers for your furniture. Opting for a store with a dedicated focus on slipcovers or even on furniture in general, might be a more prudent choice.
