It would be nice if we all had access to a nearby butcher with locally-sourced, sustainably raised beef at prices we could afford, but that's just not the reality for most people. But don't let that stand in the way of getting a juicy ribeye or a surf-and-turf package for your next special occasion or "just because" !
Buying steaks online is convenient, safe and reliable, often allowing you to choose cuts you can track all the way back to the farms and ranches they came from and right to your doorstep. You might be surprised by how customer-friendly some steak companies can be, often offering perks like free shipping, promotional savings, and loyalty points that can be redeemed for discounts on future orders.

Chicago Steak Company is an all-around favorite when buying steaks online. Their pricing is surprisingly affordable, the quality is legendary, and not hundreds but thousands of customers have given this steak company a flawless five-star rating. Gift-giving options are plentiful, and no matter what you buy you'll get rewards points towards discounts or even gift cards from other retailers. Chicago Steak Company earns our highest recommendation.
Mr. Steak may be the best-kept secret in online steak-buying. Check out their "Grill School" to help you decide which cuts to buy, then go to town filling your cart with their USDA Prime beef. This company sets the standard for sustainability and ethics, as well as fantastic customer service. You can't go wrong with an order from Mr. Steak.
US Wellness Meats surprised us in many ways: extremely affordable steaks and other cuts that taste great and thousands of five-star ratings from satisfied clients. You'll have a $75 minimum order requirement to contend with and you won't find a plethora of gifting options here, but those shouldn't get in the way of getting the delicious steaks you're craving. This is a highly-recommended steak company you should consider.
Rastelli's is a good all-around choice for buying steaks and other meats online. They offer a nice selection to choose from, all backed by a strong commitment to customer satisfaction. This steak company also has easy gift-giving options, a complimentary rewards program, and a helpful subscription option to keep you well-stocked in meat. While we've seen some complaints about deliveries arriving in less-than-perfect condition, Rastelli's is still worth checking out.
Almost 30 years ago, the founders of Snake River Farms created their own breed of cattle, resulting in their proprietary "American Wagyu" beef. There's plenty on offer here, whether you're looking for one perfect steak or a sampler of different cuts. Prices are on the spendy side, and while lots of people love SRF steaks, we found enough negative reviews to keep this company from earning a higher rating.
Stock Yards is a steak company that you might say is "good enough" . Their selection of cuts isn't going to overwhelm you, but you should have no problems with getting exactly what you order - or with getting help from the customer service team if something goes amiss. If you're already a loyal customer of the 1-800-Flowers group of services, add Stock Yards to your list and take advantage of the Celebrations Passport program to get free shipping for a year.
Omaha Steaks may have been the first mail-order steak company, which gives them a lot of name recognition when people want to buy meat online. Is the fame still deserved? Yes and no. You'll find a lot to choose from here - not just steaks but desserts, seafood, and even wine - but Omaha Steaks' customer feedback is less enthusiastic than our higher-ranked stores'. You may want to save this steak company as a backup option if you don't find what you need elsewhere.
Delicious steak that's almost impossible to ruin: that's the attraction of buying yours from Great Wisconsin Steak Company. They slow-cook them using the sous vide method prior to shipment; all you have to do is provide a finishing touch like searing (or just eat it medium-rare). You won't find many cuts to choose from here, though, and two-day delivery fees can push your costs up fast. It's a good business to support, but might be a little too expensive if you don't live close enough to pick up your steaks in person.
Good Chop can deliver your family's steaks, chops and other meats a month at a time. You choose up to 6 or 12 products, like filet mignon or chicken breast, and this company will send you 36 or 72 portions that can be kept in the freezer for up to a year. On the downside, there are no gift-giving options here, and the company is so new that customer feedback is extremely limited (and some of it is not-so-good). Good Chop has potential, but for now we recommend choosing a different steak company.
Farm Foods started out on an admirable quest: to help consumers have more say-so by knowing where their meat comes from, and supporting small farms in the process. Maybe this steak company used to do that well, but recent changes haven't been for the better. Shopping here now reveals an inventory that's mostly out of stock, broken links to their customer reviews, and a small disclaimer that the company is under new ownership as of 2021. That could mean newer and better things are on the horizon for Farm Foods, but until then you should get your steaks from a more reliable retailer.
Crowd Cow starts with a strong premise: sustainable steak and other beef, poultry and fish that are beneficial to your health and the earth's. The prices here will get your attention, there's lots of gift options, and subscriptions are available too. But, that's where the good time ends: customer service is practically nonexistent, leaving people disappointed and earning Crowd Cow an "F" from the BBB. You'd do better with another steak company.
Even though Steaks & Game proudly calls itself "the ultimate destination for steak and meat lovers" , you'll have a disappointing experience shopping here. Almost everything is out of stock, and the online store is full of issues. Combine that with the fact that there's no clearly-stated satisfaction guarantee and almost no customer feedback, and you'll see why this steak company continues to earn our lowest ranking.
And let's not forget about steak as a gift! Yes, that's right: you can send a steak, a sampler, or an entire meal to someone special - or to an entire team of people at the holidays. We can almost guarantee that a delicious steak will be far more memorable than another pen or boring gift card. Wouldn't you rather get beef too? You can always strike a balance and give a steak company gift certificate: you get all of the thanks and they get to pick a cut they prefer.
You should be forewarned that what you'll pay for an online steak order is sometimes going to be more expensive than what you'd spend at your local supermarket. After all, you've got to factor in the costs to package and deliver the steak so that it arrives in perfect condition. However, it's well worth the extra cost to get a steak that delivers an unparalleled, mouth-watering dining experience, right?
