Rastelli's is a family name that came from brothers Ray and Toni Rastelli who opened and expanded butcher shops together. They wanted places where customers could count on meticulous standards and perfect cuts with no fat or gristle left behind. Over the years, the shop has grown to include seafood and chicken in their product portfolio and they have served their food to people all over the world. When shopping online at Rastelli's, you pick either a curated or custom protein box, tailor your 4-week delivery schedule, and then enjoy high-quality meats delivered straight to your doorstep.
Ready-to-ship curated boxes
If you want to go the curated box route and avoid decision fatigue altogether, there are 10 choices you can pick between. If you're a beef lover, you'll either want to go straight for the "Ray's Favorite Grass-fed Beef Box” or the "Ray's Favorite Beef Box” option depending on how you like your meats. The grass-fed box is $208 if you subscribe to recurrent shipments or $260 for a one-time delivery. It includes over 17 lbs. of meat and up to 42 servings of things like filet mignon, New York strip, ribeye, sirloin, and more. The non-grass-fed beef box is $268 for a subscription and $335 for a one-time delivery since it includes up to 49 servings instead. Some of the other boxes have mixes of seafood cuts and poultry or bacon mixed in if you want more variety. A fun option is the "Kid Approved Box” for $188 with subscription or $235 for a one-time purchase with a 10 lb. mix of chicken bites, beef round dog, butcher burgers, meatballs, and bacon.
Make your own box
If you want to choose everything in your box, you should go the custom route. It's either $179 for 15 lbs. of meat per box or $289 for 30 lbs. First, you'll get to choose a free protein of either grass-fed ribeye, Faroe Island salmon filets, pork chops, or ground beef. Then you'll select two items from the "favorites” category like organic grass-fed ribeyes, organic grass-fed filet mignon, or chicken breast, salmon, pulled pork, crab cakes, or another type of meat. Lastly, you can add up to four types of other beef like New York strip, ground beef, beef meatballs, Wagyu ground beef, and more. Other options include seafood selections, burgers, poultry, and pork. You can create a varied, delicious box here easily. The hardest part will be narrowing down your favorite cuts.
Flexible deliveries
Once you've signed up for your subscription, you can adjust the delivery schedule to fit your needs or cancel at any time. You can also switch up the contents of your box before it arrives so that you get to try new things throughout the year. If you have issues with a delivery or questions about where the meats come from or anything else, Rastelli's provides an email address and phone number where they can be reached.
Free, frozen, raw
All boxes ship free, frozen, and raw. With every order you'll receive a cooking guide for your meats that will guide you through thawing and cooking to get the most flavor and tenderness out of your steaks. They have recipes on the website if you want more ideas of how to use your meats. We also noticed that on our first purchase we received a free black tote bag.
Few customer reviews
Even though Rastelli's has gained the attention of big platforms like Good Morning America, Real Simple, CNN, and Rolling Stone, they don't have a Better Business profile or many customer reviews. We wish they had some listed on their website at least, but there isn't a lot by way of buyer feedback. We did find a couple poor reviews on third-party sites, but there were only a handful, which isn't enough for us to go off of.
Looking for more feedback
We like how straightforward Rastelli's website is. It makes it easy to see exactly what is offered, quickly create a box of our own, and get on with our day. We wish there were customer reviews on their website and more to see elsewhere, which is our biggest complaint. If you like what you see here, we recommend starting out with a one-time box instead of a subscription or canceling right away if you want to subscribe for the cheaper box and give it a try. Rastelli's seems to have a lot to offer and we are really intrigued by their steaks, so they've at least earned an okay rating from us.
Whether you're in a warm climate and anxious to start grilling up your favorite meats for your friends and family or want to make a classy, cozy, indoor home-cooked meal with some high-quality steaks, you'll need the right place to get them from. We don't all live close to a farm with a local butcher on call to supply us with all the cuts of beef we want, but that doesn't mean we can't keep our fridge and freezer stocked with juicy, sustainably-sourced, grass-fed ribeye or filet mignon.
Knowing where your food comes from is important, and it's easiest when you have highly-rated companies you can learn and buy from. Buying steaks online can actually be a much smarter way to shop since you can vet the company and get more information on the meat you're buying, rather than if you just grabbed something off a shelf at your local store.
Online, you can learn how a company started, where their meat comes from, what their cattle is fed, whether or not they follow organic practices, what types of experiences customers have had with the company, and so much more. When you're browsing through all the delectable options that a steak company offers, you may be surprised to find some other great perks as well.
Many companies offer free shipping, free gifts, loyalty points, and sitewide sales. Buying meat online is probably less expensive than you'd imagine. There are also options to add on other items like chicken, pork, turkey, seasonings, dressings, desserts, and anything else you fancy. You can get days or even months worth of meals delivered straight to your doorstep.
And last but not least, while you're stocking up on steaks for yourself, think about those people in your life who are hard to find gifts for. Steaks make an enjoyable, thoughtful gift that can easily be sent to anyone you want. Steak companies carefully package and prepare the meats they send in a way that ensures their freshness upon arrival no matter how far they have to travel. Wouldn't you be excited to find top-tier beef on your porch?
There are quite a few variables that come into play when choosing where to buy steaks online. No two companies are the same, so we have come up with a short list of things to keep in mind when you're deciding who to buy from:
