Pool Deals isn't going to blow you out of the water - pun intended - with a slick website or fancy sales tactics. Instead, this online retailer of swimming pool supplies hopes to "wow" you with everyday low prices, unsurpassed customer service, and an extensive range of products for your pool.
At first glance, it seems like Pool Deals might deliver on their promises of guaranteed lowest prices online and great service. They offer free shipping - presumably on all orders, though there's no details given to confirm that - and their everyday prices on pool supplies ranging from chemicals to liners are competitive with other stores.
However, this swimming pool supply store has a very negative reputation. Just consider the retailer's track record with the Better Business Bureau: an "F" grade, largely due to the store's failure to respond to more than 80 customer complaints in the last year alone. You'll find similar problems if you look up reviews under the name "Poolzone", which is how Pool Deals is actually listed with the BBB. Pool Deals has also failed to respond to repeated requests for contact from the BBB.
The most common shopper complaints describe poor quality pool covers, products that don't match the description in the online store, shipping times that take three times as long as promised, and being billed for more than it showed on the actual order receipt.
To make matters worse, most of the complaints describe unprofessional treatment from Pool Deals' customer service team. Threatening to void a customer's warranty because they call to complain about problems with the pool supplies they received is completely inappropriate.
With so many reputable places to buy swimming pool supplies online, why would anyone take the risk of shopping at Pool Deals? We strongly suggest that you consider the higher-ranked retailers in our review.
If you're in need a new pool liner, cleaners, covers, chemicals, pool toys or any other pool supplies, you already know how limited your options are. Most local stores have a very limited selection of pool supplies in stock. What they do have is usually priced with high markups.
Online swimming pool supply stores, however, can carry a much larger selection of pool supplies than a traditional store. Online stores are available all year round, usually at prices that can't be beat by local swimming pool supply stores. This is because online pool supply stores typically have fewer staff and less overhead - and they usually pass that savings on directly to you, their customer.
While online swimming pool supply stores provide a convenient option for those looking for pool supplies, not all online pool stores are alike. Before making your next pool supplies purchase, consider the following:
